Has anyone seen the Mother Teresa cut sig that's on ebay right now? Sorry, I didn't get the link. I don't know about that kind of stuff. It's almost sacrilegious or something. It just doesn't seem right.  |

I doubt her signature and image have been copywrited, so I guess she's fair game. I would think a company like Topps would have more respect for the woman and the church. It's just a sign of the times. Anything to make a buck. After all someone bought a cheese sandwich with the supposed image of Christ on it. At least this one is genuine.

I wouldn't mind if it was a special thing the manufacturer was selling with all the monies going to her particular charities... but this seems a shame.

Fame is still Fame....either good or even the bad for that matter...maybe fame is the wrong word..how about historical figure  ? Example could you imagine what a Hitler cut signature would go for |

Yeah, I remember that. Didn't it turn out to be a fiasco with the winning bidder not paying? I'm not sure why I wasn't so appalled at that one. The Pope seems to be more of a figurehead to me I guess because I'm not Catholic. I would have probably felt differently if I was. Mother Teresa is a totally different story for me. She was a true living saint and still is. And money to a charity would be fine. |

I personally (keyword here) don't take offence to this at all. She is a historical figure, 1000 years from now people will know who she is, 10,000 years from now people will know who she is. I think the idea of having something signed by her, something actually written on by this incredable person is an amazing oppertunity.
I really like the Topps cut autographs, some may be a bit controversial, but being able to litterly own a piece of history seems unreal to me, whether it be Amelia Airhart, Billy the Kid, a past president, or a saint as Kelly put it.
You also have to think of how many of her signatures have ever sold at private auctions and what not, with this, Topps is giving an average collector a chance to own something this rare at the cost of a single pack.

That's true, but the card didn't go to an average collector. A dealer pulled it, and now the card will sell far beyond what an average collector would be able to pay. |

Wow, its on the front page on ebay. I wonder how much it costs to do that.
I agree with Bryan, the card is an excellent opportunity to own a piece of history that would normally be unavailable to the public, but I also think it is somewhat unfortunate that it was pulled by a dealer and is being sold at an extreme price. It would be great to own a card like that, I just hope it goes into the hands of someone who will appreciate it to its fullest.

I don't think the seller is evil or anything, but I don't think Mother Teresa would approve. Kind of like Che Guevara wouldn't approve of people buying t-shirts with his face on them. Especially since 99% of them have no idea who he is or what he did. Actually, I think that example is kind of funny.  |
