1  Harry Potter / Diagon Alley / Re: Hi guys selling off most of my collections HP boxes, binder, cards, ending now.. on: March 11, 2009, 05:55:43 AM
Late notice but the last of my lost cards end in the next 20 minutes plus and some really nice sketches from LOTR that are at obscenely low prices right now.  Makes me want to cry.  I probably will if my Shannon Auto PW variant goes for less than $100.  It probably would have easily went for $300 a few years ago :'(  I have some binders that didn't sell and some puzzle sets I will post a list of if anyone is interested they can PM me.

If anyone is interested I have a bunch of Memorable Moments cards ending tonight.  A really nice wands and quills prop and a variant chudley's Cannons poster with 1931 on it.

4  Lord of the Rings / The Prancing Pony / Re: LOTR Masterpieces II on: February 26, 2008, 09:59:14 AM

They are in no particular case order.  I had one great case, 1 pretty good case, 1 average case, 1 slightly below average case, and one huge piece of crap case IMO

Well I did go for some MP II cases, funded by some Harry Potter selling:
Here are my cards I unloaded the 15 cave trolls  Hopping Mad I pulled and a few of the other "frustrating multiple repeats in each case"  so those aren't pictured.  2 of my cases had 15 sketches and 3 the stated 16.
9  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Re: major changes to eBay fees and feedback on: January 30, 2008, 04:22:57 AM
What a load of crap Hopping Mad  That really PMO.  I like how they say that ebayers have asked for these things and they have made the changes for the users.  Why have feedback if it can only be left for buyers if its positive.  I would agree that why leave feedback for anyone if it can only be positive, but yet you could leave a negative or neutral for a seller.  I have had a few people complain about my shipping costs in some of my auctions lately.  One person said the $28 for shipping for her 10 boxes of HP GOFU seemed way to high.  Well buyers need to realize how much shipping costs have gone up.  The cost was $30 for priority mail, insured.  I was nice and lowered it to $20 so I end up eating $8.  That sucks.  I am worried that people will leave you nuetral or neg feedback for anything and everything they don't like.

The problem is ebay is a publicly traded company and they need to make more profits for there stock to go up, which I think it has taken some hits lately, so they just keep taking more money in fees.  When you pay listing fees, selling value fees and paypal fees it gets really excessive.  I thought I heard rumors google was going to start an auction site.  I hope so I would switch in a heartbeat.

So Topps policy is no AM's now?  I thought it was a New Line issue.  That sucks.  I guess that makes the crappy Evo sketch cards I have worth something Roll Eyes
11  Trading cards / Trading card sets / Re: Heroes Season One set on: January 29, 2008, 06:53:05 AM
Aftermarket color is when the artists colors or touches up the sketch after it is inserted into packs.  Lord of the Rings evolution allowed for AM sketches, but Topps put a no AM policy on it for Masterpieces.  I believe HP Family has some aftermarket sketches on her webpage and there are some posted on the YS.

Can you post scans/pics of your sketches?  I have been debating about getting a few boxes for the sketches, but 2 per case...?

Does anyone know if aftermarket color is allowed on the Heroes set?  Has anyone busted a case?  I would love to see a breakdown of a case.  Thanks Crewman
13  www.TheYakShack.co.uk / Film, Music & TV / Heath Ledger found dead on: January 23, 2008, 07:58:03 AM
I was shocked to just hear that Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apt.  Sad new about a good young actor.  The previews from the new Batman movie coming out this summer look like he plays an amazing joker.

Along the same lines as Bryan was mentioning I can give you 3 examples of signed cards never making it back to the company to be included in sets.

1.  A baseball card that Alex Rodriguez had signed ended up in a dealers hands (I know the dealer) and never made it back to the manufacturer for insert into the product.  I think this was before redemption cards so the auto card was just never included or they printed up another batch and had him sign them.  Either way there were about 500 auto'd cards in someones hands that were supposed to be in a release.

2.  A hockey card set had some pretty cool dual auto cards of one old timer and a new star player.  Well they were all to be hard signed and the player had brought them on a plane to finish signing and left the box with the auto'd cards on the plane.  Oops.

3.  A representative of Upper Deck had taken cards for an upcoming release to get signed by players personally.  Somewhere along the way there was a falling out (with UD) and the rep basically said "screw you" to Upper Deck and sold 50 triple auto'd cards of 3 very popular basketball players to a friend of mine who is very connected in the sport card hobby.  He was putting one up for auction at a time then waiting a couple of weeks before listing the next to avoid obvious detection by the manufacturer.  I know for a fact there was a redemption card inserted in packs for this triple auto.  I don't think they ever were able to fill any of them.

I also personally had a sports card redemption that when I pulled it was a Gold version #75 worth about $300-$450.  By the time Upper Deck returned the card to me it wasn't the Gold version it was # of 500 instead of # 75.  Not to mention it was over 1 year later and the players popularity went down the tubes (making it about a $10-$20 card).  And to "compensate" me for not getting the gold version they sent me another card worth about $1.  UD's "policy" is to provide you with a card or cards of equal value if they can't provide you with the card you redeemed.  Needless to say I got a huge screw job.  Also had a double auto redemption that they never filled they sent me a single auto and a jersey card.  Not really equal value on that one either.

So I guess stickers are another alternative that might not be so bad.

Also another thing sticker auto's allow is if someone dies they can still have autos for future sets.
15  Harry Potter / Order of the Phoenix Set / Kingsley Shacklebolt Costume Card (variant?) on: September 04, 2007, 05:00:35 AM
I was just looking at one of the Kingsley Shacklebolt costume cards that I pulled from OOTP.  It was barely noticeable but there were green threads mingled in the blue swatch.  I already sold my other spares so I can't compare them as they have been sent out.  I didn't notice any green in the other ones, has anyone else noticed this?  Or is it a normal swatch.

Here is a scan hopefully it is shows up decent.

Hopefully preorders aren't through the roof so that the case run is huge.

It looks like a man to me too.  Either way nice cards.

Picked up this Mandrake prop card.  Since I wasn't around when COS came out I don't know if this is a more common swatch or more rare?Huh  Either way I think it is a cool prop.
