Harry Potter / Order of the Phoenix Update Set / Re: LATEST on Kathryn Hunter and Brendan Gleeson auto`s

Got mine this morning. I nearly fell over when I saw the envelope on the mat. It's funny but this whole saga popped into my head earlier this week having forgot clean about it. Must've been a premonition. It's a nice card but I kinda wish they'd got someone else who's perhaps never signed a card before for any of the sets. And it would have to be a high profile cast member given the actor it's designed to replace.
Brendan Gleeson: bad man, naughty, not happy with you at all sir. Slapped wrists...

I've been reading on some other forums and a lot of people are complaining about what was left out of this movie. But JKR was present at the read through's so I guess she gave her approval to the changes. Maybe they will deal with some of the plot omissions as flashbacks in the DH movie. It's a two parter so they should have more time to go over things from HBP. I hope they don't devote the entire DH movie to Harry's search for the Horcruxes - can't imagine that would be much fun, it was a bit tedious in the book.

Do I need to bring tissues?
Um, maybe Let's put it this way, the girl who made her opinion known was in floods of tears during 'you-know-what' and her boyfriend had to put a comforting arm around her. The pair of them managed to munch their way through a bag of Dorito's and a bag of Opal Fruits which was kind of annoying. Don't know why people can't just sit and watch a movie in peace and quiet...

I thought the ending was fine. It was handled sensitively. There was a girl a couple of seats along from me who loudly announced it was the worst ending she'd ever seen for a movie but that was just her opinion. The film does just kind of... end, though. Might confuse people who don't know what happens in the final book.

Couldn't see a thread about this anywhere else but if there is one, I'm sure someone can merge the two.
Just got back from seeing this in Manchester. Went to the IMAX 3D presentation. Disappointingly, the whole movie is not in 3D. In fact, only the first 15 minutes is in 3D, the rest is just regular format. It didn't even go full IMAX either, it was letterboxed all the way through. Strange.
Loved the movie though. About 2 and a half hours long although it felt much longer but not to the extent that it was a drag to sit through. Funny in places, touching in others, very sad (of course) and very dark as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm sorry, but i've got the 100% confirmed info that we have unbelievable 8 redemptions in this set.
Only Ron, Luna, Tonks and Lavender Brown are already signed.
That is beyond ridiculous. As is the continued delay over the Brendan Gleeson auto from OOTP. They really should have sorted that out by now, either with the actual card or a suitable alternative. And a little something extra for those of us still waiting As for the 8 redemptions, the film was originally scheduled for Nov/Dec 08 release so they must have decided what the final set would comprise at the time. Granted, there would undoubtedly have been redemptions (it wouldn't be a Potter set without them) but it's 6/7 months on from that. Surely they could have resolved more than 8 of them by now. It does indeed suck...

I saw the film at the Manchester IMAX theatre (The Printworks). I absolutely LOVED it! I'm a big fan anyway but everything was so right about it. One thing that really caught my eye was the way the Enterprise was presented below decks - all gantry's, steel walkways, pipes and girders. Made it much more 'real world' than the somewhat sterilised view we've gotten used to with ST:TNG, Voyager et al. And Karl Urban was magnificent as Bones, the standout performance for me. And I bought a master set of the trading cards

So what's the deal with redemptions anyway? Do they agree an amount of autos with each actor and then insert the requisite amount of redemption cards? Does the actor sign all the cards in one go or do they do them in dribs and drabs as the redemptions come back? There must be unsold boxes and packs of OOTP that still have redemptions in them. And I daresay boxes and packs could have been damaged or lost (for whatever reason) that contained redemptions.
If they agree 250 autos and only get 199 redemptions back (even 1 year after release), what happens to the rest of the autos? Do they destroy them? Send them back to the actors? Must be hard to get an accurate number of autos out there for any given release. I know we try and keep a tally here but there will be people out there who don't stop by Yakshak that may have autos.
Oh, and I've just got a reply from Artbox saying they will honour the redemptions I have. Didn't mention the two they haven't had back though.

I've just noticed I haven't sent in the 10 redemptions I have for OOTP. None are duplicates, they are the 10 that shipped with the cards way back when. The expiry date was July 2008. Don't know what made me think to check this morning but check I did, and heart attack I nearly had.
I hate redemptions. I almost always forget to send them in.
Do you think if I email Artbox (in a grovelling, snivelling, Draco Malfoy way), they will still be able to redeem the cards? Or have I missed the boat? And lost a load of value off my master set in the process...
I've just today sent off the Update set redemptions but they expire on the 15th of this month so hopefully they'll get there in time.
What do you guys reckon? And does anyone know the email address? I'm guessing it's artboxent.com but the site says it's currently under maintenance.

Trading cards / Trading card sets / Stargate SG-1 Season 10 Binder
|
on: July 28, 2008, 11:06:30 PM
|
|
Hi all,
Don't come round here too often these days but I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere in the UK that might have a binder for the recent Stargate SG-1 Season 10 cards? I've seen a few on ebay but they all seem to come with mini masters or base sets and I have a full run of the cards already. It would just be easier to try and get one here than have it sent half way around the world!
cheers
Jules

The Felton card is signed, so that's good news, but I hope the double autos are returned signed in time to be inserted in packs. Redemptions are a pain for everyone.
Are you referring to the picture? Could just be a sample (or photoshopped) to entice you with it's loveliness...
