Harry Potter / The Deathly Hallows Part 1 / Re: DH1 Snape costume

That one was ours...It wasn't fun parting with it, but at these prices we couldn't resist. Picked up some of the CFC's with Snape in the cells to make up for it...and paid for Christmas...I'd say it was a decent investment given that I think we paid $25 for the card when it came out.

I was sorted into Gryffindor, which she found very suprising...I guess I fit the Slytherin mold. She went into Ravenclaw, but wanted Gryffindor. I haven't had to much trouble with potions, and the dueling I was able to do before it went down was fun. I will definitely add you, my username is CrimsonNimbus56.

Just wondering if anyone else picked up any of these? I've bought a lot of singles on eBay, but haven't picked up any boxes yet. Am I better off sticking with buying singles, or are any of you guys having any luck in the boxes? Let me know. Thanks!

Harry Potter / Memorable Moments 2 / Re: HP MM2 card list and box/case breakdowns

Ok, so yes, the set is far outdated, but ran across a very very good deal on some boxes, so we picked them up hoping to hit a card or two we're missing from our set.
0076/6000 BT3 Ryan Nelson Auto (Much smaller signature than the one we already had) C3 - 098/500 Ron Sweater (Lots of grey mixed in with the black)
5373/6000 BT2 C2 - Brannaugh Jacket (407/590)
1856/6000 BT3 Richard Leaf Auto C12 - 244/250 Hermione and Ginny Dual (Multi Color swatch for Ginny)
3832/6000 BT4 C2 - Brannaugh Jacket (342/570)
1715/6000 BT5 Tolga Safer Auto C10 Fleur Dual 031/470 (Blue Swatch with seam for task costume)
So nothing great, we needed the Hermione/Ginny dual though, so that saved us money from buying it on Ebay for an arm and a leg.
We're going to re-write our need/want/have list on the Diagon Alley section, so check it out please!

Ok, we didn't think we'd be able to afford any of this set this time, but we had some extra money lying around and ordered a couple boxes, along with some other stuff. I'll post a new 'need/want list in the diagon alley, as we need a few things to complete our sets.
Box 2905/3000
BT3 - Dumbledore Foil - 2,5,7,9 12 Clear Cards Costume 11 - Cedric (257/380) Yellow Swatch Jim Tavare Auto
3 Complete Base Sets
Box 2627/3000
BT4 - Draco Foil - 1,3,5,7 12 Clear Cards Costume 6 - Alecto Carrow (345/480) Prop 4 - Weasley Documents (134/250) Lots of writing on swatch
2 Complete Base Sets, 1 Missing one card
We completed a set of clear cards between our boxes as well.
Nothing amazing I suppose, but the Prop is cool, and the Cedric is one of the few costumes we wanted (With all this 'material used' for crap). Would have liked to hit the Sirius/Harry double costume though. Maybe we'll buy another box eventually, but probably not. The set is very cool looking, but the excess of 'material used to create' really bugged me. Oh well.

That means they'd have to, you know, update the website first, haha. Though I did notice they put up a little 'sdcc 2010' flyer...right under the ootp announcement, haha. Id love to see something like that though, goodie bags on the net for those of us who cant get out there. I'm not as upset that they offer these limited cards, while we'd love to have one of the Cedric letters, or the glove, we'll never own any , unless I have a rich uncle dying that I don't know about. But anyhow, I see the pain of you guys that have lots of master sets, and this kinda screws that up (We're still working on building just one master set!, haha)

I would not have paid 900 for that thing...it was a very odd looking card to me, didn't seem as well done as the others. We do like the Fleur Glove card though, though we wouldn't pay what people are asking for it either, haha.

The 01/30 of that fleur card is up on eBay...$795 bucks. I was gonna buy it for the wife, but can't afford that. Hopefully another number will surface for much less.

Harry Potter / The Leaky Cauldron / First attempt at framing cards, a practice attempt. Let me know what you think.

Hey guys, haven't been on much lately. Had a lot of family in town. Excited to hear about a new set, now just figuring out how to afford it. Anyhow, I did a quick 10 minute frame job using only foam board, poster board, a utility knife, scissors, and a tape measure. I was more or less figuring out if it would work out if i spent money on some nicer material/tools. I think it came out ok. The fiancee picked out some of her favorites to put in, nothing exceedingly rare, but that wasn't really the point. Anyhow, I found a front opening frame, so the cards can be easily interchanged. I'll upload some pictures below to let you see how it turned out, just click to enlarge. (I know some lines aren't exactly perfect, far from it on a couple spots , but this was practice, with no real tools) Let me know if anyone has any tips for when I get to the final project later. I checked into the cost of a professional matte being cut, for 10 cards, its over 50 bucks (Pretty steep for me). I already added the museum glass for protection as well. They are a little blurry, took them from my phone. The cards in there are mostly from mm2 as well as a couple from hbp/hbpu, they are Proclamation Frames and Glass Ron's Compass Sleeping Bags and Hospital Wing Sheets (Star Variant) Fleur Double Costume Luna's Spectrespecs Textbook pages (Numbered Variant) Cho and Hermione Yule Ball Gowns (Corrected Version) Michael Gambon Auto Fawkes and Mandrake (#001) Helena Bonham-Carter Auto Thanks for looking! Any feedback or help is appreciated. Alan

Thanks for the quick response Ed...after a lot of hunting, I did find a few box breaks of the 'loaded box' or 'hot box' or whatever it is called. Only one of them 'thinks' he pulled anything extra, he thinks he pulled the crime scene tape prop. But otherwise it seems to be just the 11 and 1. That doesn't deter us though, so long as you don't break it open yourself, we may be making a big purchase a little ways down the line, haha. Any news on whats included in the next set coming out? I guess it got pushed back? Im hoping they make it a little nicer, and at least a LITTLE more obtainable to get everything without selling your car to afford it, haha. Thanks again!

I was hoping someone would say they were sold as 'show-used', I still wish they were all a little more unique, but I understand why they wouldn't be. I was bummed to find out they're all graded, but I tested out a trick with one of my graded sports cards to frame it, and i can do it without the whole case/grading case being seen. I would hate to have to take the grading case off, rendering it worthless I imagine. But I think I can display one without doing that. As for collecting everything, I don't have any desire. I know there's one card with Debora's shield patch from her Uniform, that was limited to 15 if I'm correct. So Unless I got lucky in a box someday and hit a super rare card that would warrant me building a complete set around it, I probably wouldn't. (And In that case, I'd probably sell said super rare card, and get a lot of other cards I'd rather have, haha.)
Ed, I had a specific question for you, or I guess anyone could answer it if they know. I see the Dexter 'hot box' for sale now and again (I'm pretty sure you have one on your site Ed, is why I ask). When it says '11 autos, and 1 sketch'. Does that guarantee the entire set of autos, or could it include duplicates, and be missing others? Also, are there chances at costumes/props/etc in those specific boxes? While this would take the fun out of other box breaks and such, it certainly would make for a really fun one time break, even though you already know whats in it. Probably save some money overall as well. So were considering picking one up in the near future if our funds go well over the next little while. Well thanks in advance for any help.
