1  Trading cards / Trading card sets / Re: Inkworks to begin using sticker autos on: July 09, 2008, 12:02:35 AM
You know, I wouldn't feel so bad about this is they wouldn't tell me it's all about security.

Ed

Exactly.

I hope Steve @ Rittenhouse was telling the truth when he said he'd 'never' switch to stickers...

I hate them, period.  I think they're ugly and impersonal.  Not that the old style was personal, but these feel really, really cold and generic to me.  I'd personally rather have a price increase from Inkworks than this, but I realize that that isn't really realistic for a variety of reasons, with profit margins already being razor thin.  I think they're here to stay, but I cannot imagine myself paying more than $20.00 for any individual stickered-auto.

FANTASTIC Episode! I'm most intrigued by the "Oceanic 6".

4  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / International Selling Question on: January 12, 2008, 02:26:25 AM
Has anyone ever sent anything to Norway? Well, I sold something(obviously) to someone in Norway, and shipped in Dec. 12th.  I got a message yesterday saying the item had not been received.  I wondered if there was anything I didn't know about, such as customs, etc.

Also, I'm open to advice about how to handle this - I shipped the item via regular airmail. Thanks.

Will this be added to the price guide?

Pan's Labyrinth is indeed not a children's movie - too disturbing, but brilliant!

The thing I like most about this series of books so far(I'm halfway through the second book) is that I think it's overwhelming message is to encourage independent thought.

I too am encouraged by the respect people have shown on this thread. This is certainly not the case with other forums I've been on.

What's wonderful about our society is there is room for differing opinions and life philosophies, etc. And then here we all are talking about cards and things! Cheesy

I just finished the first book and started on the second book last night. I'm hooked.  The storytelling thus far is brilliant!  I believe the books do have an anti-authority theme to them, but it didn't seem to me to be 'anti-God' as much as anti-establishment or anti-political.

Just one girl's opinion.

Just keep in mind that the director will be editing out most of the controversial religious aspects. I expect that this will be a very watered down version of the books that will appeal to a wider audience base.

Yes, it will be.

Thanks for your help everyone!
10  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Buying Question... on: August 02, 2007, 11:16:30 PM
I seem to be posting a lot in this Ebay forum lately Huh  Anway, I bought something from a seller last week, paid with paypal immediately.  I get an email from the seller saying that they don't actually have a paypal account with that email address, that ebay required them to use that email address since it's linked to their ebay account. They asked if I could cancel that payment and send it to a different paypal account.  Is this kosher?  No one has EVER asked me that in 7+ years on ebay. For some reason I'm hesitating, even though it's a small amount of money.  Any advice? Thanks.

Well, fortunately the buyer paid me in full, and the card is now on its way - fully insured.  Thanks again for all the advice! Ebay!
12  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Re: Selling Issue on: June 25, 2007, 09:16:35 AM
Thanks everyone for your responses.  The seller did pay the first 40% already, and we agreed that it will all be paid by Wednesday.  So, I get to wait and see now. Praying
Actually, this buyer has a perfect rating and REALLY seemed to want this card, so I think I'm just a tad paranoid since I'm not use to selling such big-time cards.
13  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Selling Issue on: June 25, 2007, 03:47:38 AM
This isn't really a big deal, I don't think, but I just sold a card on ebay for $500+.  I have never, ever sold anything for that much, as I don't buy cases, and I usually sell only my extras, etc.  So, immediately after the auction was over, the buyer contacted me and asked if I would accept a 'split' payment method - money order & paypal.  For that amount of money, I'm ONLY comfortable with paypal unless I know the buyer(I don't). So, we worked out a paypal payment schedule for the next 5 days, and she's going to have it paid off by then, along with the extra paypal fees(I don't think THAT will be too much but I have to look it up).  My question for the serious sellers is Should I have been mean and said NO! Pay it all NOW?

14  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Re: Advice needed on: May 17, 2007, 07:24:53 AM
Well, the seller came through and gave me a 50% refund for the card I was unhappy with.  Diplomacy works. Smiley

Here's a photo of the card I'm most unhappy with.  The other one I can live with - dinged corners and all, but I don't know about this one.

16  General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Advice needed on: May 13, 2007, 12:32:23 AM
I purchased 2 UK promos on ebay for The Golden Compass. They arrived today, but neither are in stellar shape. One has a lot of wear on the bottom and the other one has two very dinged corners.  On the NSU board, Darren said only 500 cards were made and they were exclusively distributed at the London Toy Fair.  I don't know if I should ask for a full refund or send one back and ask for a half refund or what....I paid a lot for these two cards. Any advice? Ebay!

Well, they have 50 episodes left to tell us what's going on!

I love this card I pulled from my Classic Sci-Fi and Horror Posters box last month. It's by Sean Pence.

I've loved the whole season, with the exception of the Hurley/Van episode.  I love the Juliet and Ben characters, I hope the Emmy's notice(not holding out hope though). I also think this has been a stellar season for Josh Holloway, I hope Emmy notices him too.
