Harry Potter / Prisoner of Azkaban Artbox Update set / Re: Tins T1 & T5

Hey, that's right. The tins did/do contain FilmCardz instead of Update cards. Try moving this thread now, Roz. Shame on all of you for not spending more of your hard-earned dollars on the FilmCardz. Seriously, did anyone buy these besides me? The Silver and Blue Metal-Etched cards have a really nice design, although the choices for scenes on them seems generically underwhelming. I guess that's one other special thing to look forward to in the tins; you might get lucky and pull a chase card. I got none in the Dementor tin, but two of each in the Night Bus tin. Good luck to all.

Harry Potter / Prisoner of Azkaban Artbox Update set / Tins T1 & T5

In an interesting surprise, the Night Bus and Dementor tins are now (finally) hitting U.S. WalMarts. For the tidy sum of $4.99 I managed to add each of these tins (and especially cards) to my POA Update collection. That's right. They're five bucks. All we had to do was wait seven months.

Harry Potter / Sorcerer's Stone Artbox Trading Cards / Re: HPSS Card Thicknesses - what is the verdict?

Despite the fact that I have now spent literally thousands of dollars on POA, POAU, and Sorcerer's Stone combined, I still do not like the size of the new Prop and Costume cards. I just went through ten nine-pocket pages trying to insert the costumes that will fit. Each time I got down to the last one and the page ripped. If Artbox was going to make the cards this big, then they should have produced a series of pages to fit cards that were this big. I shouldn't need to spend tons of money on the actuall cards, then have to spend tons more to store them.

Wow. I guess it's been a long time since I posted here, but here goes. CASE BREAKDOWN Case Topper: CT1 -- Soaring Owl Box #2260Box Topper: BT2 Prop Card : Resticted Section Library Book -- 44/485 Film Card: Hedwig Delivering Nimbus 2000 -- 11/397 Foil Cards: R2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 Box #2611Box Topper: BT2 Prop Card: Invitation to Hogwarts Letter -- 70/130 Foil Cards: R1, 2, 3, 6, and 8 Box #5690Box Topper: BT2 Prop Card: Fluffy's Fur -- 647/700 Film Cell: Wizards Chess -- 309/397 Five Foil Cards that I forgot to write down Box #5745Box Topper: BT1 Prop Card: Wizard Candy -- 530/638 (Lick-O-Rish Spider Varient) Film Cell: The Man with Two Faces - Voldemort -- 315/397 Foil Cards: R1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 Box #6851Box Topper: BT1 Prop Card: Wand Box -- 454/842 Foil Cards: R2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 Box #4690Box Topper: BT3 Autograph Card: Ian Hart/Professor Quirrell Costume Card: Male Hogwarts Students' Robe: 369/750 Foil Cards: R1, 3, 5, 7, and 0 Box #5530Box Topper: BT4 Autograph Card: John Hurt/Mr. Ollivander Costume Card: Rubeus Hagrid's Shirt -- 498/710 Foil Cards: R1, 3, 5, 6, and 9 Box #569Box Topper: BT3 Autograph Card: Leslie Phillips/The Sorting Hat Costume Card: Harry's Quidditch Robe -- 131/410 (Yellow Varient) Foil Cards: R1, 3, 6, 8, and 9 and Box #5975Box Topper: BT3 Autograph Card: Adrian Rawlins as James Potter Costume Card: Female Hogwarts Students' Robe -- 388/510 Foil Cards: R2, 4, 5, 7, and 9 FINAL TALLY 5@ Props, Autos & Costumes. 3 Film Cells 2 Box Topper sets + 2 extras 5 Foil Card sets + 5 extras THOUGHTS All boxes with Props/Film Cells were on the left side of the case. All Auto/Costume boxes were on the right. Each box contained five Foil Cards. One box I collated had exactly two base sets with no extras. Artbox is like the kid who got caught being bad. They're now on their best behavior. My one complaint is that some cards are just too big. I like to store my cards in their respective albums. When I saw the "Fluffy" card I started looking around for a glass to sit on it. It's like a coaster. When I held it out to a friend of mine he said, "Wow! Is that a whole stack of cards?" No, just one, and it's too big. It's almost like Artbox is saying, "See what we can do..." My one bit of advise for them would be to stop making cards this big. How are we supposed to store them? Take a look at Inkworks' Pieceworks cards. They've got the right idea. No more coasters please. Overall, a good comeback after the POAU fiasco. I plan on buying two more cases, but I'm still miffed about the "giant" Props and Costumes.

Trade? We don't do no trades here! Not when precious living room space in my one-bedroom apartment is being taken up by all these #@&*ing boxes of update cards that I put myself into perpetual debt for. (I'm sorry cable company. I'm really sorry.) Mcgonagall, send me your particulars and I will send you base card 112, BT1, BT3, BT4, and R9 in a Priority Mailer. In return, you have to promise to not send me anything. I just think it's cool being able to send something to the Southern Hemisphere! (Oh, and to help a fellow forum member.) Seriously, glad to help you out. Happy Holidays!

At last - Case Number Three: CASE TOPPER Hermione Punching Draco AUTOGRAPHS James & Oliver Phelps (Fred & George Weasley) Dual Auto Card Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) PROP CARDS Fizzing Whizzbees (#124 of 430) Unfogging the Future (#111 of 930) Sleeping Bag (#1299 of 1980) COSTUME CARDS Sybil Trelawney's Gown (#326 of 330) Hermione's Pink Jumper (#517 of 628) Ron’s Jumper (#428 of 731) Harry Potter’s Sweater (#980 of 2173) Harry Potter’s Quidditch Outfit (#1455 of 2173) Cedric Diggory Quidditch Outfit (#924 of 2173) Remus Lupin (#1420 of 2900) 3 of 9 DIFFERENT Film Cells from US Theatrical trailer Totals: 2 Autographs (had Dudley already) 3 Props (had two of them) 7 Costumes (had five of them) 3 Film Cards (had all three) 5 Complete Sets of Foil "R" cards 2 Complete Sets of Box Toppers So, basically, for $570 I got four cards I didn't have, plus the Hermione/Draco Case Topper, which gives me a complete set of those. All in all, I guess I can't complain after doing so well with my first two cases. In total, thus far, I have 8 autographs, 14 costumes, 6 Props, and 6 Film Cells. Time to trade. Keep an eye out for my list.

Yeah, rough stuff, that Karma. Out of one box, I got: Film Cell - Harry Conjures His Patronus - #663 of 900 Harry Quidditch Robe (Close) - #133 of 2173 4 "R" cards, enabling me to make another complete set and, with apologies to Fernando, as well as to Jennifer Saunders and to all of you Brits... A DAWN FRENCH AUTOGRAPH CARD!!! Best $60 I ever spent. I also got the three tins. From said tins, I got two "M" cards and George Wealey Quidditch Robe #1559 of 2803, which was pretty lucky, considering the dealer had exactly one set of tins and the odds of pulling a costume card at four packs per tin are one in six. To add insult to injury, while I was waiting for the update set, I started collecting Angel Season 5. Tonight I bought my fifth box. Got Autograph Card #5. Got Pieceworks Card #4 (one duplicate out of five). Got the three cards I needed to complete the two chase sets. Got the Box Topper I needed to complete that set. I'm expecting the infestation of locusts any minute now. Seriously, my luck is NEVER this good. Anyway, I said it for Roz and I'll say it for Fernando: No autographs is totally unacceptable. At the very least, Artbox should give you a replacement autograph when something like this happens. We also noticed several packs where there were only five cards. I'm really curious as to how the cards are packed. I have a theory that it's a machine that uses a computer program that tells it when to drop inserts in. The boxes that have nothing or less/more than average are a result of the machine following the programmed ratios; every so often there's a null space. The skips are, in effect, "0's". I'm probably way off, but it's something cases with no auto's make me think about.

Got two of my three cases today. Let me just say this upfront: Now onto the breakdowns. CASE 1: BOX TOPPER Sirius Black AUTOGRAPHS Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) Lee Ingleby (Stan Shunpike) Jimmy Gardner (Ernie Prang) - redemption Richard Griffths (Uncle Vernon) - redemption PROP CARDS The Daily Prophet (#387 of 480) Divination Class (#340 of 845) Sleeping Bag (#430 of 1980) COSTUME CARDS Madam Rosmerta (#38 of 250) Ron’s Jumper (464 of 731) Neville Longbottom (#857 of 1170) Harry Potter’s Sweater (#441 of 2173) Harry Potter’s Quidditch Outfit (#1183 of 2173) Cedric Diggory Quidditch Outfit (# 72 of 2173) Remus Lupin (#2385 of 2900) 4 of 9 DIFFERENT Film Cells from US Theatrical trailer CASE 2: BOX TOPPER Harry Riding Buckbeak AUTOGRAPHS Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) PROP CARDS The Daily Prophet (#434 of 480) Unfogging the Future (#795 of 930) Sleeping Bag (#861 of 1960) COSTUME CARDS Draco Malfoy (#458 of 628) Cornelius Fudge (#43 of 830) Remus Lupin (#756 of 834) Neville Longbottom (#724 of 1170) Cedric Diggory Quidditch Outfit (#523 and #524 of 2173) 2 of 9 DIFFERENT Film Cells from US Theatrical trailer (One card twice = 3) Totals: 6 Autographs 6 Props 13 Costumes 7 Film Cards (3 of one, 2 of another, so actually 4 different) 7 Complete Sets of Foil "R" cards Notes: The Percy Autograph Card and the Ernie Redemption Card came in the same pack! Two of the Film Cards were damaged around the edges where the slides are. I also had two damaged "R" cards. Redemption Cards are your friends! Me thinks they were placed in last, making some cases have more autograph cards. Oh, and... I GOT A HERMIONE AUTOGRAPH CARD!!! And to give credit where credit is due: My good friend Fernando's daughter, Ernestina DaCosta, pulled the Hermione. Just like she pulled the Rosmerta Autograph from the original set. That girl's definitely got "the touch". Can't wait for case #3, which should arrive Thursday.

Olly, the green set are a binder incentive, too. I got them today. (By the way the new binders look as sweet as the pictures would have you believe.)
Roz, 0 autographs is totally unacceptable. That's just ridiculous. It's insulting when you've spent all that money and the company can't even be bothered with seeing to it that you at least get the bare minimum. Artbox needs to have a serious talk with a company like Inkworks, where the odds are stated and that's what you get. The thrill of not knowing what you're going to get sure is tempered when you get nothing. That just sucks!
