i feel bad because i spent 3 hours carving a pumpkin of Legolas and it ended up looking.......... :'(

How long did it take you and what tools did you have, did you just use a knife?

Wow - those are cool!  Did you use a template or do them freehand?

Wow, thanks!  I had a lot of fun carving the pumpkins.  I used a template for both of them, and they took about an hour each to carve.  The big carving company in the US is Pumpkin Masters, and they make special tools for cutting real pumpkins (I found out the hard way last year that these tools aren't good for carving artificial pumpkins -- now I use exacto knives for those).

The SpongeBob pattern was a nightmare!  Too many small sections and thin lines.  I made mistakes, but fortunately they didn't show up after the pumpkin was lit.

These were done for my kids, by request.  My husband wanted to some scary pumpkins, but he and our son were sick over the weekend, so I wasn't able to get out to buy more.  Oh well, there's always next year!  Some of the pumpkin carving sites suggest using non-Halloween designs on watermelons for parties, birthdays, and other events.

Folks can you remind me to invite Cindy to my Halowe'en do next year?

Yes and oh... if you insist you can bring a carved pumpkin ;)

Now Roz - that's what I like to hear!  Kbmum is invited as well!! We will need her expertise with the pumpkins!!  :)

Those are nice pumpkins! I especially like the HP one. Next year, I have to put that one on my list!!! My sister and I also did some pumpkin carving this year. We ordered a set from the Disney Store (which was nicely reduced to $9.99) and carved away. I carved mine a week ago on Sunday and then went to the University for the week and by the time I got back the following Friday they both rotted. Luckily, my sister took a picture with her camera! She also carved another one just last Saturday. She took a picture, and I took a digital one. If anyones interested, I'll try and get some pictures for you, as well.

First, though, I owe Roz that LOTR Aragorn and Legolas Japan Info. Luckily, I just learned how to upload pictures from the digital camera, I got from Japan so it should be a piece of cake (once I get home on Friday, that is)!
