I had already carved a Harry pumpkin for my daughter before we saw the Sirius pattern, and she's been begging me for days to get another pumpkin.  Looks like I'll be heading off to the store...

If there was some way I could get it to you, I would!  I love carving pumpkins.  It's a shame that after all that work, it only lasts a week before it has to be pitched.  I've done a couple of designs on artificial, carvable pumpkins, which is great because it lasts from year to year.

I would like to get one of the artificial ones too,  ut I know I would mess up my pattern.

I got my pumpkins last night, and tonight, I am carving Harry and my husband is carving Sirius.  We usually like to do scary pumpkins, but we figure a majority of the trick or treaters will recognize the faces on the pumpkins this year.  I will let you all know how they turn out.  If they turn out ;). lol

I'm carving SpongeBob SquarePants for my son right now (got the pattern from the site above), and I swear I will NEVER do that one again!  The lines are too thin between the sections and I'm going to need toothpicks to keep it together.

The Sirius pattern doesn't look all that difficult, because there are large sections and not too much intricate work.  The nice thing about an artificial pumpkin is that if you make a mistake, you can glue the pieces back together -- it doesn't show much in daylight and not at all at night.

I am nervous about the eyes on the Sirius pumpkin (very small) and the face of harry, around his glasses.  Lots of small lines that can break apart when carving.  

Cindy, what a great idea!!!  I never thought that you could glue the mistakes back on in the artificial ones.  But I hear they can be difficult to cut?  I always thought regular pumpkins were difficult as well.  Nothing like getting all gooey though.

My pumpkins turned out great.  I took pictures, but I don't have a digital camera, SO as soon as I get them developed, I will scan them and post them for you all to see.

I thought I would bring this thread back to life since Halloween is coming up!  Lots of new stuff.  Buffy, Star Wars, HP, Corpse Bride and other really cool ones.  If you do one for Halloween, post it!

Sara those are beautiful  :-*.  I was tempted to try the Voldemort one myself but I would never have gotten that result!  But I bet the Freddy one had the little kiddies screaming  >:D

Believe it or not, we barely got any trick-or-treaters this year.  So you know who ends up eating all the left over candy, right? I'm not complaining.....yet :rofl:

We have a lot of leftover candy, too.  So, you know what's been going on with me?  Get the kids on the school bus, enjoy a snack-size candy bar.  Do some laundry, reward myself with candy.  Do the dishes, have a candy.  Stair climb for 15 minutes, yep, have another candy.  I'm hopeless. ::)

You sound like me.  I have one little piece of candy and tell myself that I won't have any more the rest of the day....10 pieces later ::)

Just a reminder that both Zombie Pumpkins and JP's Jammin' Pumpkins have HP patterns and have recently added new patterns of all kinds.  JP's site has a new Dobby pattern. :)
