: Harry Potter Books on CD's! : savage727 October 27, 2004, 11:39:58 PM I am considering purchasing the 5 Harry Potter books read unabridged on CD. Does anyone have them and do you recommend them? Thanks. :)
: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Roz October 27, 2004, 11:49:06 PM The British ones are stunning by Steven Fry ;)
All of the voices are like they were in the films, I bet the actors used them for inspiration! ;D : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Nienna October 27, 2004, 11:55:23 PM I have the versions read by Stephen Fry on CD and I have to agree with Roz ~ they are brilliant!
They are mp3 format which will play on a computer and I've done copies for 'Harry Potter' friends already. The first four books went onto one CD-R and the fifth book onto another one and if you'd like me to burn you copy and send them to you then PM me, okay? ;) : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : olly October 27, 2004, 11:55:39 PM The British ones are stunning by Steven Fry ;) All of the voices are like they were in the films, I bet the actors used them for inspiration! ;D So better than the films or not?? ??? : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Nienna October 28, 2004, 12:02:32 AM If you close your eyes whilst listening to him reading Hagrid's speeches then he's uncannily like Robbie Coltrane!
I have heard it said that the some of actors did in fact take their inspiration from his readings of the books ... whether that's true or not I honestly don't know. You can't really say they are better than the films, more that they complement each other beautifully. ;) My two knuts worth ... :P : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Tea_and_Fruit October 28, 2004, 12:11:47 AM I never read one of the Potter books :o
I hear ONLY the german hearing books. I am a BIG FAN of Rufus Beck (his voice) who read the books. *seufz* I love his voice 8) I have all 5 on CD and MP3. I have buy a 20GB MP3 Player only to hear the Potter Books ;D ;D ;D : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : mcgonagall October 28, 2004, 12:12:48 AM I have 2 of the boks on cd and i love them i can listen and do the housework at the same time
: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Nienna October 28, 2004, 12:18:18 AM That's what I call dedication T & F! ;D

: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : savage727 October 29, 2004, 03:12:48 AM Thanks again Jules, I am looking forward to hours of listening pleasure!! :)
: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : olly October 29, 2004, 03:20:23 AM I might consider putting these (well the first 3 books) on my Christmas list!

: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : olly October 29, 2004, 04:13:25 AM Remember I don't want to know the story of the other books until they make the films. ;)
: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Roz October 29, 2004, 04:37:10 AM Oh well then I don't suppose I should let it slip that Voldermort, or "Voldie" in book 4 finds that he was only evil because of a drinking problem?
Or that Ron is secretly the baddie of the whole outfit as revealed in book 5? : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Nienna October 29, 2004, 04:57:22 AM Olly could always read the HP-related story from that link I sent to you Roz *looking innocent* ;)
: Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : savage727 November 07, 2004, 07:19:59 PM Hi Jules:

I was just sooooo pleased that the CD's reached you intact and equally delighted you're enjoying listening to Stephen Fry reading the books. The pleasure was mine! ;) : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Roz November 12, 2004, 05:44:17 AM Hi Jules: I just wanted to thank you again, the reading by Stephen Fry is outstanding and I am thoroughly enjoing the Harry Potter books all over again! :) Go on - tell us what you think of his accent!!! ;D : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : savage727 November 16, 2004, 07:42:00 AM Hi Roz:
I love the accent!! 8) : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : C0r1 November 17, 2004, 12:24:11 AM I like the cd's but I think its better to read the book.
+ Look at the difference in price! OMG! but yea, the UK ones sound a little better than the US ones. : Re:Harry Potter Books on CD's! : savage727 November 17, 2004, 08:54:40 PM I agree that reading the books are the best method. Where I live we do some long distance driving on a weekly basis so it is fun to listen to cool books like The LOTR's, The Hobbit, and now The Harry Potter books on CD in the vehicle as it helps to pass the time plus they are great stories! :)
: Re: Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Morningangel-Iola June 19, 2005, 05:30:28 AM I've only got the tape versions so can't listen to them on my computer :( or MP3 them. I've only got up to four because I would need a mortage for book five :(

: Re: Harry Potter Books on CD's! : erevine June 19, 2005, 07:36:17 AM I have the Jim Dale unabridged audiobooks, and personally find them excellent although I have not heard the Stephen Fry version. Mr. Dale does all the voices and it is easy to recogonize the characters from book to book. I have read all the books but like to refresh my memory prior to the release of a new book or movie and have a 45 minute to 1 hour commute to work so what better way to spend the time and being over 50 my memory needs some refreshing occasionally.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~dave
: Re: Harry Potter Books on CD's! : Roz June 19, 2005, 05:10:10 PM That sounds a good time to catch up on your HP. Although I hate to think how long the OOTP CDs are!!!
