I am considering purchasing the 5 Harry Potter books read unabridged on CD.  Does anyone have them and do you recommend them?  Thanks.   :)

The British ones are stunning by Steven Fry ;)

All of the voices are like they were in the films, I bet the actors used them for inspiration!

I have the versions read by Stephen Fry on CD and I have to agree with Roz ~ they are brilliant!
They are mp3 format which will play on a computer and I've done copies for 'Harry Potter' friends already.
The first four books went onto one CD-R and the fifth book onto another one and if you'd like me to burn you copy and send them to you then PM me, okay?  ;)

If you close your eyes whilst listening to him reading Hagrid's speeches then he's uncannily like Robbie Coltrane!
I have heard it said that the some of actors did in fact take their inspiration from his readings of the books ... whether that's true or not I honestly don't know.

You can't really say they are better than the films, more that they complement each other beautifully. ;)

I hear ONLY the german hearing books. I am a BIG FAN of Rufus Beck (his voice) who read the books. *seufz*

I love his voice  8) I have all 5 on CD and MP3.

I have buy a 20GB MP3 Player only to hear the Potter Books  ;D ;D ;D

I have 2 of the boks on cd and i love them i can listen and do the housework at the same time

That's what I call dedication T & F! ;D

I like listening to them whilst sitting at the computer and I would imagine they'd be good to listen to while you're ironing :P

I only have the books - I'm not a fan of audio books myself :) BUt I have heard great reviews of the Stephen Fry renditions!

I agree that reading the books are the best method.   Where I live we do some long distance driving on a weekly basis so it is fun to listen to cool books like The LOTR's, The Hobbit, and now The Harry Potter books on CD in the vehicle as it helps to pass the time plus they are great stories!   :)

I've only got the tape versions so can't listen to them on my computer :( or MP3 them. I've only got up to four because I would need a mortage for book five :(

I borrowed OotP from the Library and burned it on CDs ;D

No its not I didnt feel like paying 60 dollars for 25 CDS when I can get 50 burnable CDs for 20 dollars and burn then

I have the Jim Dale unabridged audiobooks, and personally find them excellent although I have not heard the Stephen Fry version. Mr. Dale does all the voices and it is easy to recogonize the characters from book to book.  I have read all the books but like to refresh my memory prior to the release of a new book or movie and have a 45 minute to 1 hour commute to work so what better way to spend the time and being over 50 my memory needs some refreshing occasionally.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~dave

That sounds a good time to catch up on your HP. Although I hate to think how long the OOTP CDs are!!!
