: Banner for Memorabilia
: MakTheYak October 22, 2004, 04:31:46 AM
Olly has kindly offered to allow us to put up a Yak Shack Forums banner behind his stall at Memorabilia. Take a look at this and everyone's input is much appreciated... :)

The colours are limited due to it being made out of cut vinyl making it look extra cool so that's why there's no special effects ;)

: samwise16 October 22, 2004, 04:34:51 AM
O i do like this one, my input has been forced into Roz's brains and hopefully she will not let you rest still my idea has been carried out  ;D Nice job Mark cant wait till i see it at Memo, thank Olly!

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 04:37:32 AM
We'd like also to mention that Chris (Gimli) will be painstakingly making this banner and so much appreciation and thanks will be going to him too!

From what I gather he's going to have to lay 2 colours over each other for every shading Mark has on there - so he'll be sorry he told Mark he likes a challenge :P

So what do you think? Any Changes in wording?

In other YakShack publicity news - we might be having badges made for memorabilia too - so let us know if you are going and we'll have one made with your username on :) There will be lots of variations but a "print run" - tee hee of only 100 (that's the point where our manufacturer (did I mention this is Chris again) will get too tired :P)

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: samwise16 October 22, 2004, 04:43:48 AM
Go Chris for being brave enough to offer assistance to help towards Yak Domination, I however will watch  ;D

*ahem* (puts on TV News correspondent voice) On a much more serious note.....Thanks Chris

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: gimli October 22, 2004, 04:48:44 AM
well the reason i am doing this is I think this is a fab forum and more people should know about it and as olly said else where I feel welcome here

and i feel that I don't have to be so careful in everything i say unlike somewhere else I will not mention ;)

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 04:59:00 AM
Welcome here? Of course you feel welcome here you've got the best spot on the sofa by the fire - oi budge up ;)

On a serious note it's actually a gesture that's much much appreciated Chris, I hope it doesn't take you too long (or drive you too crazy). If it makes you feel better it will be reused... goodness knows where but we'll always have it to hand ;D

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: gimli October 22, 2004, 05:08:39 AM
As it should be Use it time and time again. One day the yak Shack will have it's own stand at conventions with mark doing sketch cards and Roz well ............ Roz will be doing something????????

probably chatting up the Stars for free interviews for The Yak Mag  ;) of course will be great and not just a place to get promos and throw the mag away cause it is so out of date........

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: kbmum October 22, 2004, 05:25:17 AM
Gimli, you're not bashing everyone's favorite non-sport magazine, are you?  ;D

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: sonarghost October 22, 2004, 03:19:38 PM
yeah Gimli,

I too am sick of that "other forum" and rarely visit it anymore. I don't visit it anymore for the following 3 reasons:

1. first of all it <edited by moderator>
2. and whenever you <edited by moderator>
3. <deleted by moderator>

That about sums it up, sorry to rant guys!

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 03:29:14 PM
Very funny sonarghost... just in case no one quite gets it - note that his post was not edited by a moderator.. well not on this forum :P

If you go get moderated for extremely bad behaviour it will say <<edited by Roz/Ferdinand The Yak/Samwise16/MakTheYak on X date>> and you'll be asked to never return to the magic kingdom too.. and you'll have to sit in a corner for a week ;D

Now stop hijacking my banner thread :P and make comments on the banner ;)

I think it's ace but it is rather difficult with 3 colours to play with; Chris says the yellow is nice and vibrant so the Yak should stand out well.

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: ferdinand_the_yak October 22, 2004, 03:37:58 PM
Very funky! I like it :D

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: sonarghost October 22, 2004, 03:41:59 PM
lol, sorry Roz! I forgot the fact that not everyone will get the humor unless they visited there! I think the banner looks fantastic. I don't believe it has to have alot of colors to look great, and the wording is right to the point....wow, remind me to hire you guys for my PR work in the future!

That's very nice of Gimli to put in so much time and effort for the forum as well.

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 03:52:50 PM
....wow, remind me to hire you guys for my PR work in the future!

We'll be awaiting your call :P

And Olly's donation of space behind his table at Memorabilia ;) (grovel grovel) :P

Did I mention this banner is going to be 4 foot by 2 foot? HUUUUGE!

WOO YAY

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: olly October 22, 2004, 05:13:23 PM
But, but, but...I thought the banner was 4 inches by 2 inches and I have only allocated enough space for that!  :o

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 05:16:19 PM
Umm... ok we are going to have to fold it a LOT of times... :-\

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: olly October 22, 2004, 05:17:01 PM
I might be able to stretch to A4 size.

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 05:23:20 PM
That's lucky because it was going to be as tall as the Empire State building once we had folded it that many times ;)

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: olly October 22, 2004, 05:37:16 PM
I was only kidding!

Now we just have to work out how to fix such a huge banner so people can see it!  ;D

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: Roz October 22, 2004, 06:12:50 PM
Do you have any ideas what the backing board is made of? That would help us ;)

If you decide not to have theyakshack banner Mark has a very nice LOTR related banner (big Photo of Aragorn)you could put up instead to attract all the fans to your stall...

Though it has to be said it has metal rings in it - in the corners... if it's a heavy banner we'll have to talk to Chris about reiforcing where we pin it/tie it up to.

Did I mention we have to ask Ed Van Halen (6 foot 5) to stand on Mark's (6 foot 4) shoulders to get the Aragorn banner down? Did I also mention that this is half way up a stair way? Hmm... let's stick with TheYakShack banner.

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: ford-prefect October 22, 2004, 06:24:51 PM
its a great design where will it be in the hall so we can find it?

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: olly October 22, 2004, 06:40:44 PM
Not sure what the backing board is made of sorry!

Maybe MPC will know??  ???

I will only find out my position in the hall a few days before the event.

Although a 4ft sign shouldn't be hard to miss :)

Plus you will all want to come to my stall to spend your money anyway!

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia

: Re:Banner for Memorabilia
: gimli November 05, 2004, 02:11:25 AM
