Here it is, a pear tree card that will go the full distance of 10 days.  Any guesses on how high it will go?  I will start the guessing at $1250.

well I paid $499 for mine and roz paid a bit more than that I think $1000  minimum

well thats setteled that one i shall never get one unless i win the lotto or invent some brilliant machine to go back in time and write harry potter before JK  ;)

I'd be interested to know why you've put it up for sale only 24 hrs after receiving it. I thought you were a collector ?

is it 15/30 or do you have more than one roz.

OK well here's the score... the card on Ebay isn't actually Roz's, it's mine. So unless by some amazing stroke of luck the number on the back is cooler than 15 (ie 30 or 1)  then that that is the one that will be sold (notice I haven't put the number on the auction yet...). I bought mine for quite a lot more than Roz paid for hers ( :( ) but let's be fair she got it at quite a good price ( :) )

Anyway with any luck we'll make it all back and with enough profit for a few cups of tea ;) You don't know what Roz costs me in tea.....  That's the plan anyway...  ;D

First off I am looking forward to 2 things; seeing what this goes for as it will give us all an idea of what they are worth (though it's got a long way to go yet before Mark breaks even) and also to see how many people click through from that link to this site; I think Mark will be able to tell us that from his weblogs... I am not sure!

Think very carefully Ben - like me it will mean you cannot buy any of the more freely available prop cards etc for some time...

so you have a choice, one rare or many slightly less rare cards!

What I want to know is how many there are in the "collectors" domain; we know so far of 3 in our handses and one in the post!

I take it you scanned it in a protective holder Mark? And that all that dust is on the scanner bed and not on the card!  :-\

Yes indeed I did - can't risk getting it horrible and greasy from whatever else has been on the scanner at work! Sorry about the dust  :-\

Seems high, but I'm sure someone will take the bait... and remember there are 200 less of these than FOTR Merry... what was the highest we saw that go for? 1100?

And believe it or not the card still has some way to go before breaking even :O as this card was more expensive than mine!

One of the weird things about the PTL card is how people are confused over it's name, many call it Peartree leaf (as I have put in brackets in our auction) but the real name is

PEAR TREE LEAVES - look you can see so on the back :)

The Card is now up to $1176.00 with 2 days and 3 hours to go.   My guess of $1250 is going to be way low me thinks.  Its already had close to 1000 hits on the auction and 21 bids.  I would absolutely love to see it break $2000!!! Mostly because I have one on the way now!!!

This sux, why have they only made 30 cards of the Pear Tree Leaves? I've almost got the whole PoA set, but it's not a complete set untill I get the Pear Tree Leave, but the price is sky high! I'm the last bidder on the auction, I raised the price to $1,176, but that  "dis-cix" is unbeatable.

I do admire the strenght "dis-cix" has shown in this auction thus far.  I think you are going to have to get really lucky to find this card for under $1200 right now.  Only 30 people in the world will have a master set.  That is sad, but on the up side I am one of them :)   That is not intended to be a gloat, but I am just happy right now.

Hehe, yeah you know what, it's hard not to see it as a gloat! Man, I can't get over it, that one card costs so much is really f**ked up, I can understand that Joe Dimaggio's signed cards are worth that now, but they've just been released and allready the price is sky high...

That's a good point, this is the first you have seen because it's the first one on a proper auction....

so we've nothing to judge it by!

I have to say I think it's REALLY strange that I am the only one selling a spare, perhaps dealers etc think it's too soon to sell; the movie isn't out; Cards Inc haven't had their TV campaign advertising the cards inc set etc so there is loads of publicity to come on this set, there are some hardened collectors out ther (eg the dis-cix) but I am sure the dealers are right, it's probably too early to sell (but I bought two and I need some money back to spend on the other cards in the set!!!).

But then again if Warner Bor, Artbox etc do keep 10-15 of them back there aren't many around for collectors, so far I know of numbers 15, 18, 22, 23 and 25 being available for collectors.

So you believe that after the campaign all the cards will rise even higher? They probably will, but one thing is that theese cards are wanted right now, and probably in the next couple of years when the other HP movies wil be released, but what will they be worth in ten years? If I win this card, I'll sell my master set when the next HP movie has premier.

I will, even if I don't get the Pear Tree Leaf card from you, I'll post it here if I do get a Master set and sell it. But I think I've reached what I will pay for a piece of papir.

I do - both mine cost multiples of that  ;) well not quite #15... it is so weird that you ring up Cards Inc just 36 hours later and the price has been so hiked... I heard that they charged £1000 for the last one they sold - by comparison to that mine on ebay is a bargain!

How can they justify putting the prices up so much?

Drinks would be on me if you were here folks, but instead I shall be starting some competitions on the website... for promos (including Van Helsing, Harry Potter and LOTR - donated by the lovely Chidgey Cards and Cards Inc - thanks Darren et al).

The plan is to have Mark design a flash game which you can all play - the highest scorer at the end of the week or a certain date will be congratulated on the forum and I'll ask for their address to send a small batch of cards to!

What do you think?

(admittedly I haven't had any of the cards in yet and Mark's not designed the game yet - so just watch this space!)

I'll try and make it not too addictive..... actually, no. I'm gonna make it addictive as I can! Let's face it, if there's gonna be cards as a prize it's gonna be pretty addictive even if it's rubbish!

And it's likely we will have run a  couple of question based compeitions before Mark's game gets up and running so there will be chances for everyone  ;D and prizes for everyone too - not just5 HP fans!

The first batch of donated promo cards arrived this morning so I am announcing that we'll start a competition (text / question based) on Wednesday (well I'm going to HP tonight so you don't expect me to sort it out do you ;)

So up for grabs this week will be a full set of Cards Inc promos; P1, P2, P3, P4 and you guessed it P5.

(yes the P5 seems hard to get hold of but don't you worry - you can win the complete set here!).

And don't worry if you don't win it this week keep trying as we will have a fair few sets to give away.

And if you don't like HP then still don't worry - we will soon have other options for competition winners!

*sighs* I am working on my last assignment for this session now, as soon as it is handed in, I will be free! Planning to lock myself in my room tomorrow and curl up with PoA and a cup of tea to do some revision before the movie next week!  :) Tough life, huh?
