OK,
So I have a seller (trusted one) who I asked back when poa was out if he would and could sell me a case of update for $525 (I mentioned that was Georgetowns presell price) and he told me if the cost of the update was similar to the POA he could do it.  Well he emailed me back today and said he couldn't do it for $535 delivered anymore, but could for $650 because his cost went up from Artbox.   Now that sounds like a pretty big bump - so I am questioning his price a little...is he trying to take advantage?

On the positive side I can have it drop shipped from Artbox direct (I need to let him know by 6pm EST US) Artbox is only 200-300 miles away and I may be the first to get my case!  Although I was thinking about buying a couple more cases and could still get them $55 cheaper a case but would have to wait as they would ship from the East Coast (US)................................Advice please is it worth the extra $55 to get a case the day of or a day or two after release date?

And if you get your case directly from Artbox you have the chance t o sell some cards before all dealer do it.

Yep T&F is right you would be able to sell off your spares as one of the first on ebay - but you may not want to do that you might want to trade with others to save the listing fees  :-\

I think I'd go for the lower price and be more patient.... but that's simply my opinion... there's no chance of buying a case from each is there Beckham?

Yes...I agree with Roz.Thats still a good price and I think that all of our world wide forum members should make a pact to trade our spares with each other,before selling on the open market ;D ;D ;D.

I'm gonna sell my duplicates of duplicates first.... whilst leaving as many trading duplicates for trading as I think this will be the only really possible way to complete the set for me (through trading)

But, popple, we can't wait until Christmas for you to open your case!  :D  

I'll be in the same boat, though.  I bought three boxes, which I'll open as soon as possible, then I accidentally discovered last night that my husband bought two more to give me for Christmas!  I have no willpower to leave boxes unopened, so this is a good thing.

From what I hear if Darren doesn't have the quota of HP in the UK in time for Memorabilia at the end of November I think he'd best open one of his LOTR swords and shield sets and bring them along for self defense!

It is kind of odd that you won't get the cards before or at the same time as we do in the US.  After all, HP is a UK institution.

At least the cards boxes and cases are available in your country

But let us all remember, they make UK exclusives that only go to the UK.  Us in the US have to get them on eBay or trades.

I ordered the case for $650 and was able to get 1 more on top of that for $590 from a dealer I buy a lot of my sports cards from.  He said he had 10 cases for presell and they are all gone now as I got the last one (I was trying to get 2) he is trying to find more and if he does I have dibs :P

Anyway - I got an email from another member who mentioned the cases are in short supply and most likely will be on allocation :'(

If members who ordered a few boxes don't get all of theres I may be willing to help out with a few boxes (of course I am hoping I get all the ones I ordered) but if I do and someone gets the shaft I will try to help you out...we will see in a couple of weeks.

I am so glad you said that.  Yes, I am extremely nervous.  Now, I only ordered 3 boxes.  It started with just one.  There is a local comic book store by me who had 1 box of the original PoA hobby boxes.  I asked him if he could get the update so he took my name down and called me when they appeared in his monthly catalog and ordered it for me.  I told him to make my order for 2 boxes.  Then, a month later, I decided to buy a thrid and went to the store.  The guy I was used to dealing with was not there, so I placed an order for a third box off of the guy there and sent an email to my normal guy for confirmation (he confirmed for me).  Now I am just hoping they get them, as they were not taking pre-orders for anyone.  They just got them for me because I asked. He also said he got a box for their store (which I am half tempted to buy as well).  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Please keep me in your thoughts!!!!

Well, I wasn't nervous until I read your post!  I checked the Georgetown website, and they say that they do not do allocations.  They sell only what they know they will get, and if they run short, they will fill the order using other sources.  I've never dealt with them before, so we'll see how it goes.

If Artbox increased the run, and there is still talk of allocation, we might see a big increase in the runs for the other HP cards that are in the works.

Buy the other box they got for the store...at this point I would get what you can get because ebay prices of $670 a case are not going to go down from there!

Don't panic too much everyone.  The larger the dealer I would say the safer you are.  (dealers like Georgetown Card Exchange and Potomac etc.)  I am sure they are just stating off of preorders that they are probably already almost sold out.  I think most dealers pull the preorder option off of there site when they have sold out there confirmed case orders.

I just bought a case from a dealer I buy from a lot and he told me he was confirmed for 10 cases and I bought his last one.  I checked 1 minute later and the preorder case option was already off of their site.

Georgetown still has preorders at $624.95 per case (and they're listing a November 1 ship date).

This is true.  I might buy the box from the store, but I am sure by the time I get there, it will be opened and cost $3 a pack, which I guess still isn't horrible.  I am also going to a show November 13, and hope to see some boxes there too.

And as for what kbmum said, does anyone know a definite number on this run yet?

I put in an order for a case from Georgetown a week or so ago and still haven't heard from them in regards to them confirming my order.
They sent an original email to let me know they got the order but they don't guarantee your order unless its confirmed.
A week was a little too much suspense for me so i panicked and went elsewhere.
It could be because i'm in Australia and its all too much.
I wonder if any stores over here have caught the buzz yet?

greenpaw, I placed an order with them too and did not receive a confirmation email. I wrote them and they finally sent one. I bet your order went through, they just didn't do the follow through. I would contact them.

When I placed my order with Georgetown, I heard from them immediately. Before sending payment, I even asked them two or three questions and heard back when I checked my email the next day. Perhaps, giving them a quick email will help!

Also if you paid by credit card and they charged your card I would say that is a good sign,  then again I recently had a back experience with that and they strung me along for a month before saying they couldn't get the product...so I would call them.

I placed my order with Georgetown back in June, and it took them a week to confirm.  Since then, I've emailed a couple of questions, and it usually takes a few days before they get back to me.

I actually contacted a seller on ebay i bought a master (well semi-master) set through the first time around and he said he could sell me two cases. So i contacted Georgetown and asked if i could cancel or if they could just not process my order.
they replied almost immediatley and said that they would not process it.
I'm not really sure what's happpening there.
I  have found Potomac the best so far but only ordered one case early on and then they sold out.
Then as it has gotten closer got itchy wrapper fingers.
I also pulled a Mark Hamill auto... :o makes the option a little more realistic.

I only opened one case.
I intended to open half the boxes and sell the other half unopened on ebay. I put a box up for 5 days and no-one bought it so decided to open it instead. ;)
Nice surprise! I have 2 other cases i've not opened yet. Its hard to top getting such a rare card. Mind you i have no problem selling it and picking up a few nice sketch cards-not to mention a Daily Prophet Card.
Like the pear Tree Leaf i can't really justify hanging onto one expensive card when there are lots of cheaper ones i can purchase.
It'll probably be more like 23 days 10 hours and 39 minutes till i get my cards but hey thats what checking box breakdowns is for-i can live vicariuosly (not sure of spelling)  for 10 days.

Those are the worst sketches!  I don't care if the artist was paid only $1 per sketch, pride alone should have made him do a better job.

Just a quick update on Georgetown card exchange,
We ordered a case a while ago. Like I said in an earlier post, we never received replies to emails and had to place a call to get the order confirmed. After asking another question and not receiving a reply, I called to cancel our order. I simply did not feel comfortable paying someone so much money and not having questions replied in a timely manner; it's not good business.

During the call I was talked to extremely rudely by a worker. They did not want to cancel the order and gave me a terrible time. Finally they said they would cancel. I asked for a confirmation email that the order was canceled, and was told that I probably wouldn't get one, still in an extremely rude, sarcastic voice. It was only after I threatened to call the BBB and asked to talk to a manager that they said they would send a confirmation email. I guess I’ll have to see if it actually comes.

The way a company treats their customers says something about them. I am glad to have my order canceled and to be done with the company. Buyer Beware!

Great, something else to worry about.  :-\  I sent them an email last week asking when they expected to ship the update, and they responded to it the same day.

All things considered, when it's time to preorder the GOF set, I think I'll be going with Potomac.  Their box price was $3 less, the shipping was free for orders over a certain amount, and I don't think I've ever heard anyone here complain about them.

I've ordered from potomac a number if times, and I have never had a problem with them. They respond to emails quickly andprofessionally. I just wish I ordered more than one case from them before they sold out.

I'll second that! Something I don't need to be worrying about as well. They'll prolly be fine and all but the stress just isn't worth it.

There is a seller on ebay right now who is selling cases for $559.95 with O/s shipping for $44. At time of writing they have 6 cases available. Their feedback looks good at 99.9 too.

Yes but the seller did not reply on my mails. I had a question abaout shipping (Airmail and cost of insurance) No answer after 3 days.  >:(

I emailed the seller about their single boxes, got a reply within 24hours.  Seems ok; Ive just purchased two extra boxes.... 8)

Seller reply to my mails. Guess i will take a Case  ::) Even with customcharges is a case cheap.

Ya, that was a great deal.  I think the boxes/cases will be like that for a week or two, and then start there steady (or possibly rapid like last time) climb up in price as people crack case after case looking for Harry autographs. :)

I was only considering buying another case this morning in an impulsive "AAARRRGHHH ITS ONLY A WEEK TO GO AND I WANT MORE CARDS AND I WANT THEM NOW_TRIPPLE AUTO BE MINNEEEE!!!!!" kind of a way.
I have 3 cases on order and i think i can still get more from a dealer.
Its just a case of  itchy fingers and too much money in Paypal right now.

Yeah I hear ya! I saw this auction and couldn't resist...I called him up and bought all his remaining cases (4). I don't think we'll see many cases for that price anymore and I too got a case of the itchy fingers.

Seems to be a really great guy..spent quite some time on the phone with him and knows (and is known by) other sellers I know. So if you ordered from him all should be good....I hope!! ;D
