After prolonged negotiations, Cards Inc is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement to purchase all the assets of Barrington Square Cards & Coins ("Barrington Square Cards") of Chicago, save for accounts receivable.
 
Barrington Square Cards is one of the largest non-sport trading card distributors in the USA. The six figure deal will mean that Cards Inc will have one of the strongest inventories of non-sport trading card product worldwide.
 
Cards Inc's owner Darren Epstein says : "After having known and admired Mike Bowman, owner of Barrington Square Cards, for many years, and having learned that Mike was interested in pursuing other avenues, we recognised a great opportunity to grow both our wholesale business and its sister retail company, The Collector Zone, via Barrington's retail customer database."
 
Barrington Square Cards owner Mike Bowman commented :  ''After 20 years in this wonderful business and having made a lot of close friends I have decided to pursue a new opportunity; I have therefore chosen to agree the sale of the assets of the company to someone who can fullfill the needs of the collectors, dealers and distributors with whom I have dealt with for years.
 
I am confident that Cards Inc will service all my customers needs and my hope is that they will continue to do business with one of the best distributors in the world."

Cards Inc takes over the world.

One thing I have always wondered is how cards inc (as a manufacturer) deals with people like Topps when negotiating to buy lots of cases.

I'd have thought it would be hard for Card manufacturers to deal with other card manufacturers for purchasing, since they are later competing with cards inc for licenses... maybe this will become more of an issue as they grow as a manufacturer.

Great news though. Cards Inc gets a bashing in most places but (apart from the Smeagol set  :D ) I've never really fallen out with Darren over anything... - although that smeagol set issue was just mis-information!

Is it my imagination or does it sound like cards inc just bought a company bigger than themselves... or iss that just the hype? :) This should mean bigger buying power and (fingers crossed long term) slightly lower UK prices. But that won't happen for a while I shouldn't think - they have a new company to pay for ;)

Roz - do you know something we don't??? Will there be any kind of a Smeagol set????

I'd have to see it and love it first, I didn't get the trilogy or ROTK 60 or 20 card sets though, so I am not sure.

Thats weird, That is where i used to buy all of my stuff back in the day, I had worked and ran a smaller card shop and bought everything there..
