The movie release is less than a month away.  Tom Breyer posted on another site that Artbox should release some set info today.  Stay tuned...

I gather this set will be the last one as they no longer have the license ... or has that situation changed does anyone know?

You mean no more update or filler sets? That would be sad. I really enjoyed getting these cards. I hadn't heard that Artbox no longer had the license, although I do recall thinking they only had it through the last movie. Guess that means that they wouldn't be allowed to do filler or updates?

I'm not quite sure how to take the "last and final movie set" line.  I'd like confirmation from Artbox that they won't be producing any filler sets.

For all of the complaints about too many sets, it's still sad to see that the end of the line is apparently here.

Should someone ask Tom to confirm with them?

well yeah, but it doesn't necessarily confirm that Artbox won't be releasing any more sets past this one. It sort of hints at at, but it vould also just read that this is the set for the last movie....does that make sense?

Question answered. The set coming out July 15th is an autograph and filmcard set. One auto per box with a filmcard every other box. Each case has a winner card in it that gives you random items. It says you can win:

A costume/prop set is to follow. I would rather artbox take their time and just make one set. I hate the idea of only getting one insert in a box. I also hate that this is the last movie and we aren't seeing signers that I know a lot of us would have liked to have seen (Snape, Sirius, Voldemort and more). I think I will cut my order in half this time around to two boxes.

I am very disappointed.

Well...so many thoughts.

I don't like having the set divided into autos/filmcards and costumes/props.  Apparently, Warner Bros. is continuing its track record of being difficult with approvals, which necessitated the way the set is being split.  For all we know, Artbox is contractually obligated to release a set when a movie is released to theaters and had no choice but to produce the set like this.  I wonder whether the costume/auto set will come out three to six months later, like a regular update set would.

The case breakdown is 10 autos, 6 filmcards and 1 "You Are A Winner" card.  I definitely don't like that three boxes in every case will have only one card (assuming the "Winner" card is inserted in a box that has one auto and no filmcard -- there could be four boxes in some cases that have just one insert).  For a box buyer like me, I'm not sure the price of a box plus shipping is worth the opportunity to pull only a Hogwarts Nurse or Bogrod the Goblin auto.  The "Winner" card is enticing, though.  There will be 400 of those cards for this release.  Whether I place an order will be determined by how lucky I'm feeling at the time. ;)

I thought the same thing as John that Artbox is cleaning house with the prizes.  Makes sense if this is the end of the line for their HP license.  It's truly great that they're giving away the items instead of selling or auctioning them at SDCC.  Does anyone know if Artbox will have a booth at this year's show?

I understand the complaints about the autos, but don't you think Artbox wants the missing autos just as much as we do?  The reason we don't have them rests solely with the actors.  They're the ones who refused to sign.  I'm not surprised that Snape, Hagrid et al are not included, because Artbox has been unable to obtain those autos since it started producing HP cards in 2004.  It's been noted before, but I'll mention again, that Rittenhouse Archives was not able to get Robbie Coltrane's auto for any James Bond set because Coltrane didn't think it was right for fans to have to pay for his autograph.  I do wish there were Dan and Rupert autos and it would have been awesome if there were ghost James, Lily, Sirius and Lupin autos.

I enjoy the change in formats I think its creative. . . BUt the dealer price point shuld have been changed accordingly. . In the days of $60 boxes providing 4-6 hits I cant imagine this release flying off the shelves with 1 hit. .  I love opening cases of Harry I hate to see it come to an end but from a standpoint of even coming close to breaking even its impossible. I love spending hours making sets for everyone out there to enjoy at a cheap price.  But unless some of these no name autos or the prizes are gonna be super high there is gonna be a huge drop in price. The first hpdh pt 1 cases came down $150 in two months these will be worse. . Sorry just Adam complaining thanks for reading hope for better news soon. . . :(

Said came down $150. Bought 6 cases at release for $525 few months laters 4 more at $375 no incentives but still huge drop. Just saying all releases lately drop and when you change the format to one hit basically its making for disaster. hpdh1 was a money maker for me like all releases but you gotta know when to be concerned. .  Does anyone see anyway to profit from this release ?

Surely prices Artbox charge for DH2 will be cheaper with such a drop in premium cards per case?

price cut would have been the right move. . Crunching number and really gonna be tough. Hope artbox sheds more light on this release and its future before orders are due.

According to the pricing I got from my distributor, the prices have NOT changed for this release. I see no way for people to make money off of it. I plan to get teo boxes just for the joy of it, but already know I will; be dissapointed when I pull two no name autos worth a total of $20 on eBay. Just like to get the box for the chance to get something better. If this had been a normal release, I would have been happy with the autos in the set (although, there are still others I am shocked not to see....like some duals or another triple), but since this is not a normal release and we are guaranteed only 1 per box....I am a bit dissapointed.

I'm sure Artbox's distributors aren't happy with this release.  Unfortunately, they will take a loss if collectors decide not to buy.  It's been a while since I've purchased a Topps product, but as I recall, many Topps' releases have one hit and are $40-$45 or so a box.

It's hard to say if a dealer can make a profit from breaking a case.  It'll depend on the winner card prize and whether there's an Emma Watson auto.

Hopefully the winner cards have some great prizes!! I usually get a case of every new Potter release but this set will be hard to get any money back on. Emma, John, and Maggie will be good thats about all I see.. It does seem Bonnie is very popular although she signs for almost every set. Im not sure about this one

I agree. Bonnie is popular, but she does indeed sign for A LOT Of the sets. I remember when we used to all complain about the amount of Warwick Dabis autos...but I think Bonnie may have signed more than him now. LOL

Hi all!  :P I don`t think this will be the end of the line for Harry Potter sets!Just look at the Buffy the vampire slayer sets! Maybe i can afford an extra 2 weeks in the States this year! ;D

Artbox's license expires with the last HP movie.  A while back, WB stopped trading card licenses for all of its properties.  I'll have to check, but I believe around the time it was announced (by another manufacturer) that Artbox wouldn't be producing HP cards after the final movie, Panini was given the license for HP sticker sets.  It makes me wonder if Panini might end up producing HP cards at some point in the future.

I read that there will be an autograph in each box. And a CFC in every other box. Plus a case card (If you buy a case.) That gives at least (at least? Could they spare it?) 16 cards in a case. I may be wrong but the prize cards are randomly inserted ONE PER CASE. Will this take the place of a CFC or be a bonus. Everything is as clear as mud.

It's a real lottery - imagine getting an HP3 Update Box as your 'prize' and the box being a dud!!!

Artbox announced that this set will have autos and filmcards, and the next set will have costumes and props.  No date has been given for the release of that set.

I've decided to pass on the auto set unless Artbox adjusts the MSRP to reflect the lesser amount of inserts in the set.  I think dealers and distributors are going to have a hard time selling these boxes.

Yeah, I cut my order in half (2 boxes instead of 4). Artbox really does need to adjust the price, but that will never happen. I wonder if the next set will have one costume per box, with like 3 props per case. I would be furious.

Im not looking forward to the auto/filmcard set. Maybe if they put like costume and either auto/filmcards in one set and then props and the other in the second set and how are they going to work the base set will like have the first film come with the first and second half with the other set? or will the second set be like an update?  :-\

I don`t know why they couldn`t follow the previous formats of putting Auto`s,Cels,Costume cards and Prop cards into one set and maybe an update set later in the year? :-\
When i open the Binder and there are only Auto`s and Cels in it?It won`t look right esp when you open the Update Binder and see only Costumes and Props in it! ???
I can understand Artbox wanting to get this set out around the time of the film being released all over the world but i would have been happier if they delayed this set for another 2-3 months so they could have got a more complete set in the cases! :-\

As was explained earlier in the thread, Artbox had a problem getting approvals from WB for the inserts.  This delayed the costume and prop cards.  In order to get a set released to coincide with the movie this month, Artbox is releasing one set with the autos and filmcards and another set with the costumes and props.  It isn't ideal, but Artbox didn't have much choice.  My guess is that the company is contractually obligated to release a set when a movie is released.

I guess everyone needs to spend Hundreds of pounds and Dollars to buy Harry Potter Cards on the Release date of a new film! I would have brought this set 6 months after the film had run personally :P

I believe the release date is July 22.  They'll be shipped before then, though.

Orders now Due July 22nd.

They noted "conflicts with production" but I also have to wonder if this is to give more time for pre-sales.  I'm betting orders were light and they needed time to boost them.  But that's purely an educated guess.

This also seems like out original thought of them needing to get the product out in time with the movie by a possible contract with WB may not be correct as well. If they could delay this set a couple weeks, I don't see why they couldn't delay it even longer to include the costumes and props in the set.

I don't think the delay negates the possibility that Artbox has to produce a set to coincide with a movie release.  It just means that the company experienced production problems and can't deliver the goods by the deadline.  There isn't anything WB can do about its licensee's manufacturing issues, especially if Artbox is at the end of the license and has the autos, costumes and props in its possession.

That being said, I'm wondering like Ed whether this delay is due at least in part to poor pre-sales.  I wish that Artbox would announce it's revamping the release to include all of the inserts and not just the autos and filmcards.  Then, I would happily buy two or three boxes.

It's getting worserer and worserer  :'(

Artbox should just cancel this particular set and combine it with the costume/prop set to make a regular release.  I'd love to know exactly what problems created such a mess with the entire DH2 release.

I still wish they would combine the set. So dissappointed. I used to get so excited when a new HP set was coming out. That died down a lot as so many sets were released, but I was still a bit excited with each one. This one, I just don't even care if it gets released or not and that is really sad. Still buying 2 boxes, but I know there will be no props or costumes inside, so eh.

I know this set is poor compared to what artbox could have done but i love the dark blue colour autos compared to the red backround on the cards from the deathly hallows part one set

We were recently informed by our Artbox sales rep that they have had "difficulty with production" and had to again rescheduled the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trading cards to tentatively ship around the 17th of August. Artbox also announced that they are completely pre-sold of out these, but as of this writing I still have a couple of full cases (as well as individual boxes, binders and base sets) available for pre-order from our reserved allocation. I also plan on breaking down a couple of cases and will post the contents on our website as soon as I am able.

Does anyone know if the " you are a winner cards" are inserts found in individual boxes or toppers in sealed cases?

The "winner" cards are packed in boxes, one per case.  If you buy one box, you'll have a one in 10 chance of pulling the card.

It would be nice if the seller had the correct info in the listing.  There will not be three waves (autos, costumes and props).  There are only two waves.

Artbox began shipping cases today, starting with east coast distributors.  The official release date is August 19.  For our newer members, the release date is the date that dealers and individuals are allowed to sell cases, boxes and individual cards.

I've got the information that all the Autographs are real ones, there are no redemptions in this set. :)

I went onto my ebay and saw that my 2 boxes of this were sent out by the seller on the 15th does this mean the release date is the 15th or that there just aloud be sent out before then?

Yeah it is not looking good at all. Anyone else think the "puzzle" autograph cards look awful?

No. Artbox ships sooner than the release date. You are not supposed to sell them yourself until that date, which is the 19th. I am assuming the seller who already listed them (there is always someone ahead of time) is okay, as the auctions do not actually end until after the 19th.

As for the puzzle cards, I want to know if the back says who they are signed by, otherwise, how would you know? There is no picture or anything. It seems like it was almost a last ditch effort to get more autos for this set, so they put them on their normal foil cards.

Thanks for the info rns91294 :) the puzzle auto's do look horrible and like rns pointed out there seems to be no form of authentication either :(

The puzzle autos are TERRIBLE.  If anyone has a scan of the back of the card, please post it.

I've started a card list and box/case break thread.  It's a work-in-progress.  If there are errors or additions, please let me know.

As a dealer, I'm allowed to ship orders as long as they don't arrive before the 19th.   

That's why dealers get theirs earlier, some earlier than others.  Part of mine didn't arrive until late afternoon and one straggler won't be here until the 19th.

Although I am glad to see the back of the card tells you who signed it, I wish it showed a small picture of the character from the movie. Although, Young Dumbledore I believe was only in a photo in Part 1 (not Part 2) and Teddy Lupin was cut from the movie altogether.

Wasn't Young Dumbledore in the scene with Aberforth and the picture of their sister?  Teddy Lupin was cut from the movie, so technically, his auto shouldn't be part of the set.  My guess is that Artbox received approval for the card prior to WB and the director cutting the scene from the movie.

I'm not sure that he was, but you might be right. I though I read online that the picture of him was in the first part of the movie, but he was not in the second. I could be wrong.  As for Teddy, I agree with you. And of course, after he was cut, Artbox couldn't decide to not use his auto since they then would not have a full puzzle set. If he was not part of the puzzle set, I wonder if they still would have included him?
