: Lost in mail insured paypal items : ferdinand_the_yak September 07, 2004, 02:41:51 PM Last month I won a set of Legolas UC fighting knives from ebay (Aug 9) paid 2 days later via paypal. I was told they would take 4-10 days to arrive on the 12 August. Assume 10 as from US to Australia.

I'll get the insurance forms fill them out and send you another one. It should all be done by tomorrow or at the latest Tuesday (Monday is labor day here). Thank you, Joe Has anyone had this happen and if so, how long does it take for insurance to come through from the PO? US specifically I guess, but I'd be interested in knowing what other countries are like :) : Re:Lost in mail insured paypal items : chico September 09, 2004, 07:17:34 AM If the seller decides to re-send and handle the claim afterwards....you could be lucky. But if the seller waits for the claim to be settled , it can take months. One other problem could be the current world security issues.....and some knives showing up on a parcel x-ray. Based on the reponse from the seller, it looks like "Joe" is re-sending after filing the claim forms. Good Luck

Good point about the security thing at the moment. Maybe it would be easier to ask for my money back, but I thought I got a really good deal and I have wanted a set for ages. And its not like I would use them for sinister devices anyway ;) Fingers crossed then :) : Re:Lost in mail insured paypal items : hockeyron December 10, 2004, 08:02:54 PM Well as far as here in the US the insurance works this way .... you have to wait 30 days from the time of shipment before any insurance claim can even be filed ....... paperwork has to be made out by the sender and receipient -- value of the item(s) has to be established........ then it takes another 30-60 days before the PO's investigation ends ......... IF you're found to indeed have lost or damaged mail then the PO will send the sender a check which would of course go to the buyer since he's/she's already paid ...... I've always been told by my local PO to never give a refund until the investigation is over but some people give refunds before that ..... personally I inform my customer that I don't give refunds until the PO investigation is complete === and the simple reason on that is that I have had 7 or 8 people over the last few years that had claimed to not get insured items and want an immediate refund .......so I've started the paper work and had it sent to them and in each of those cases I have never, never heard anything back from them so in all 7 or 8 cases those people were trying to rip me off by figuring that if they complained that they'd get a refund from me when it surely looks like they indeed got their item(s) ..... ron |
