I have pre-ordered 1 case. Hopefully I get some decent inserts.

I've preordered 2 boxes from MPC and bagsed another 3 boxes from a local dealer who usually have really reasonable prices.

How did you find a dealer in Aus with boxes blackcat?

Well, rumours have it that the print run will be between 750 and 1000 cases. And that means the forum alone has to buy 7.5 to 10 cases each to take up the entire print run ;) I myself will be a bit below my quota but I can think of 4 forum members off the top of my head who are waaaaay above their quota to make up for it.

I daresay the 105 of us are not the only collectors of this set, so I dare also to say that this set is going to be in BIIIIG demand and that many other collectors have already missed out in getting boxes at pre order prices!!!

Well its thanks to this site that I got the info on pre-ordering, so thanks for to everyone that has provided info regarding the set! HOpe it is as good as we all hope!!!

I think that it is so popular people will be lucky to even get their hands on boxes at normal prices let alone pre-sell prices! Lets hope that the companies that do pre-sells honour them and don't pre-sell more than they can allocate! November is too far away :P

As soon as I heard about the update set, I emailed Jason from OzCards Inc.  He has a few cases ordered, so I asked for him to keep me a couple of boxes.

There are no presales listed on the web, but if you email him he could prob put some aside for you...plus his in-person prices are often less then those online...

I think they are affiliated with CardsInc, the website says they have offices in Melb and UK.

No idea of the price-his boxes are usually $100.  No shipping either, as I pick them up....

I wish I could get my head around the AU $, is 100 AU about 80 US and therefore about £42 UK?

Unfortunately, the Aus$ is only 69c US at the moment, so it costs even more to buy stuff from America.  I think $Au1=£.38?

I think the easiest way is to multiply by 2.5 for pounds and 1.5 for USD

That is assuming they have them at $100! They are selling ROTK and ROTKU at $100 ATM and the LOTR portfolios at $80 (the limited to 1000 ones) which is a great price! I got an email today, jason said he was getting the set in but had not decided on prices yet. Did he say anything more about it to you blackcat?

Nope, no word on prices.  But hopefully they will be as reasonable as usual.  He's a really nice guy, spent ages trying to track down TT hobby boxes for me, though unfortunately without any luck  :-\

Its cost me about $230 to get 2 boxes from overseas, so if it works out to be anything similar, I'll be happy.

From the rumours I have been reading - and I don't know if this will come off. They have got so many insert cards for this set - reports say 36 - that they may put in 2 per box. I hope that's not guaranteed 2 per box as that often ruins sets but it would be an improvement on the 1.5 average from last time...

That would be interesting, and would mean with what I have bought I might go a long way towards a master set.... but I'll be needing all you guys to trade with so don't go away  ;D

You lot have finally got to me...just ordered my first ever case + 1 box.Praying to the big bank manager in the sky...please...don't send me any letters with RED writing on them...Also been told that I can't open the case until Christmas Day...HO HO HO !!!

I have just started up in business small time I bought 7 cases of POA but i di buy a few cards too otherwise i would never have made a full set

That's not encouraging - 7 cases and no full set. You did hit some good buy it nows as well!

So what shall I do as soon as I get my boxes... pile them up and see if they are as tall as me?

They  will promptly collapse in a heap and I'll be selling "slightly seconds" cards to you all ;)

I wonder how heavy 25 cases is I don't think they will fit in one box

LOL - I also have gone overboard on case buying! But prior to now I have never opened more than 8 boxes... ever (1 ROTK, 2 ROTKU and 5 HP PoA)...

How on earth am I going to cope with all this base set sorting - Chris Chidgey laughed heartily at the way I was doing it at the weekend during Collectormania

Feel free to send some boxes of cards you need sorted over this way, I will have plenty of spare time when university finishes in between waiting for the LOTR exhibition and watching ROTK EE for the 1000th time ;)

i don't know about anyone else but as i open packets i sort the cards into number order then i sort into sets.

Well I was sorting them into 0-10s 10-20s etc and then sorting those piles later!

Roz, I've been doing it the same way as you.  So, did Chris enlighten you or just laugh?  ;)

It wasn't so much what she was doing but the speed at which roz was sorting. I sort cards into piles of 0-9 10-19 20-29 ect then i costruct 1 set at a time rather than sorting all the 1-9 i go through each pack pulling out 1 then 2 then 3 I sometimes sort all the 1-9 like this and sometimes sort one set from start to finish.

The reason i laught was that I managed to sort out 1 set of cards 40-72 in the time Roz sorted 30-39 ;D

All the rest of my cards were ready to be sorted into other base sets should the chance arise... whereas yours were in the same mess  ;)  ;D

Chris - Popple helped me out with some cards from the Cards Inc set... so I am so nearly there ... I'll have to scour WH Smiths and Woolworths around the country just in case!

In trying to figure out production runs I would be interested to repoll everyone on this and see how many cases more specifically they have preordered.   I would bet just with forum members we have between 100 - 200 cases.

Thats alot of cases for three members.   :o   I thought buying 6 cases last time was a lot.  But I still think this set will go up in value.  For a lot of reasons.  Even if the print run is 1800 cases, we still added 2 of the best actors, which LOTR never did with exception of adding Miranda Otto, but she is only worth so much because of her rarity.  But in LOTR many of the main actors signed in multiple sets (Aragorn, Arwen, Sam, Frodo, Pippin, Merry, Legolas)  But even then the Two Towers set still was a much larger print run than the fellowship set, the autograph ratios went from 1:24 to 1:36  and the boxes still go for big bucks on ebay all this time later.  It just took a little longer.  The first Harry Potter set jumped to near $200 a box in six weeks. I have never seen a set of anything jump that fast.  Another reason is the time of year.  The first Harry Potter set came out right in the first of the summer, when ebay starts it decline in sales.  This set is coming out right before christmas and the first of the year, when items on ebay sale much better as more people are looking.  I still think the set will move up in value over the space of a few months.  So people sitting on multiple cases should still be able to make a little extra $$$

I think you are right there but anyone who has any hopes of completing a set of cards (if the new ratio of inserts per box is right) will have a heck of a time.  And for me personally I am sure box prices will not go down and will go up, but if you are buying a case for $600-$700 and get 8 costumes #/2000 and 2 props #/1000 (I am guessing most props will have a higher print run than last time & still be a few short prints) and two auto's (not getting any of the 3-5 big ones) that will be pretty disappointing for the average collector who expected (from original news) that they would get around 15 inserts (2 auto's, 3 props, and 10 costumes and with some luck maybe a creature card) per case!
