I just received news from Tom that Julie Walters will be signing for the HBP Update set !!! 

Great! Thanks for that, let's hope Mark Williams signs too, I'd love a dual Mr & Mrs Weasley auto!! :o=

The set is due out in late November, with an apparent cut-off date of mid-November for distributor orders.  We've waited a long time for a Molly auto!  Let's hope that Artbox will release more info soon. :)

Who are Amber and Ruby Evans? I can't remember them in the book.

Maybe they were at the Weasley's shop in Diagon Alley or Slughorn's Christmas party?

Weren't there twin girls from Slytherin in the movie?  That's who I thought it was when I saw their names.

Based on this list, there doesn't look like there is a lot that I am really interested.  The only thing I really want is the Julie Walters autograph.  I'm hoping for a Daily Prophet in those unnamed props.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is underwhelmed with this set.  There just does not seem to be much with that "I've got to have one" feeling.

I guess we're all spoiled by the previous sets.  Hard for Artbox to up their game each time.

I don't think it's a bad set.  The prop list looks good (with more to come) and there are some decent autos (Molly, Narcissa, Greyback).  I'm actually interested in getting the waitress costume card. :)

Tom is taking orders, as are just about every dealer and distributor.  The release date is early December.

I agree that I'm not I've got to have that card either.  I holding my opinion on the set over all until I get to see the actual cards.  I think we're all suffering from Harry Potter over load.  There have been so many sets recently.  It's just been too much.

That's so true.  HBPU will the 14th Artbox HP set (with inserts) since the first one (POA) came out in 2004.  I think the only licenses that rival it are Star Trek and Buffy/Angel.

I also have to agree! I have the Buffy auto and costume set along with Angel,Spike the complete story and the Buffy MOS and WOS collections as well but this Harry Potter sets are costing me a small fortune! :o I can`t believe the HBP Update set is already here! :o

But, hey, 14 sets is pretty impressive.  Especially since most have been sellouts pretty quick.  But the card overload combined with the current economy is taking it's toll...

My one must have card is the Bellatrix Wanted Poster. So, I will be willing to buy if anyone is selling. lol.
 
Like Cindy, I too would not mind the waitress costume actually. I like there are a lot of new things in this set, so we shall see.

The Bellatrix Wanted Poster is definitely at the top of my list!  :o=  I'm glad they got that one to use as a prop.  I like anything Weasley twins, so that's another desirable one.

I'm really liking the costume selection this time, as opposed to the original HBP release--wasn't too thrilled with the costumes in that one. But this time, there is a really nice mix. Love that Harry, Hermione, and Ron costumes are back in the lineup. I'm with Sara and Cindy regarding the waitress costume--I wouldn't mind pulling that one in the least.

The autos are good too--Ron/Lavender, Narcissa, Molly, Tom Riddle, and Fenrir really stand out for me.

This set looks really, really good. Can't wait...but I have to...until Christmas morning.  :P

Per an e-mail from Tom, Artbox will ship on December 16.  I asked my husband for a box or two for Christmas.  I don't know if he ordered any, but if he did, they probably will not arrive in time for Christmas (by the time Tom gets his cases and ships out box orders).

It's odd, though, that the street date would be too close to Christmas. You would think that an Update set could be put together far enough in advance to match the release of the DVD, which I guarantee won't slip past December 7-8. (Some language versions are out already.)

I remember our hair-pulling when Memorable Moments 1 didn't show up until December 29.

They must be waiting for autos to come in. :-\

MM1 came out in October 2006.  I remember it well.  My box breaks were so bad for those "premium," overpriced boxes that I almost put my entire collection up for sale and quit the hobby.  COS came out at the end of December 2006, so maybe you're thinking of that one. :)

That sounds about right, but if some dealers don't get it until the 23rd that means if you ordered from them no boxes for xmas.

I'm a 5 day ship from CA, so that puts it on my doorstep on December 23rd, assuming they get all the orders out on the 16th.  Not a good situation at all.  Looks like many of my customers won't get theirs until some time in January as I'm out of town for several days around Christmas.

I asked Tom today.  He said that the 23rd is not the ship date, that the 16th most likely is.

Yup, I got the order mixed up, even though I had just reminded myself about it in a PM discussion! Street date for COS was Dec 29, 2006.

Ed, yuck!  UPS tells me I'm a 5-day (business day) Ground ship pocket too, but I have been routinely getting mine from Artbox in 4. I can take stuff with me if it arrives by the 23rd, but it definitely could cause some shifts in the holiday travel plan. I was gone when COS was delivered 'tween the holidays and the package sat outdoors for 4-5 days.

I'm not sure why people say they're underwhelmed by the set.  We have a lot of first-time signers, a good selection of costumes, and the props are great (although, once again, heavy on the Slughorn items).  IMHO, pre-orders are down for a few reasons: the economy, the holidays, and burnout from the sheer number of HP sets.  I also wonder about the effect the end of the book series has had on the cards.  Without new books and much speculation about each installment in the series, I think maybe interest in HP in general has waned.  It might pick up when Deathly Hallows 2 is released.

I put some boxes on my Christmas list.  Last night, my husband asked me if I was still interested in getting them, since the new ship date means I won't be able to have them in time for Christmas.  I'm sure most people who want boxes/cases are buying them for themselves and not getting them as Christmas gifts, but still, the timing of the release is bad.  It's hard to justify spending $55 for a box or more than $500 for case when you also have to put presents under the tree for your kids.

I think you hit most of the high points. Autos, costumes, and props feel more alive when you're living with evolving characters, instead of thinking of them as 'history'.  Who's gone back and re-read HBP since the movie came out? Speculation was a whole lot of the fun of the general HP interest, and many of my friends have picked up other series to follow, like (sort of in the same universe of appeal) the Olympus books or Twilight.

And indeed we're saving our discretionary holiday cash for gifts to others.

The breakdown is pretty nice, but I feel less excited about it that I usually have. The release of a new card set just isn't the same level of Event as it used to be. I wonder whether Artbox has another blockbuster lined up, and even whether we will see four sets for HP Movies 7 and 8 or just two.

My money is on 4 sets for the next two films! I guess they can make more money if the bring out Harry Potter update cases as they have with the previous 4 HP films :-\ It`s nice to have some variety with the auto`s this time around though.As already stated,it`s a bad time to for Artbox to release this set a week before Christmas! >:D IMO

Seven. The Literary set only went through Book 5.

Artbox could follow in Rittenhouse's Star Trek footsteps with individual character sets, lenticular motion sets, art/sketch sets...

However, since WB is not licensing any other properties for trading cards and since Artbox lost the retail part of the HP license, it's possible that we won't see more sets once the DH2U set is released.

I'm really excited for this set but that could be from the fact this is the first set I can actually afford on my own.

I kinda hope there isn't a lot of fuss over this set, there are a few cards that, according to LikORish's list, are a little rare and I hope I can get them for less then what I'm sure some people would sell them as.

Artbox shipped cases to distributors on December 14.  The official release date is December 21.  This means that we probably won't see any auctions on eBay or any individual inserts for sale on dealer websites until that date.
