Did anyone see the news where it snowed 3 inches here in Houston on the 10th?

I decided since it snowed in Deer Park that I would share some pictures because this was the first time I had ever seen snow and I'm still blown away by it. Unfortunately I only have pictures from the morning after on my computer, taken by my friend Mémé. None of the digital camera would work, of all nights ::) So we used disposables instead.

I'll upload the other pictures on here when I get them.

Also, please let me know if the pictures are to big for some of you, I will re-size if necessary ;)

Hi Mike!  It's nice to see you back. :)  Did you make snowballs?  Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my brother and I each making a snow fort, stockpiling snowballs, then having a mega snowball fight. :D  Of course, that's a bit more difficult with only three inches of snow. ;)

We had three or so inches of snow a week and a half ago.  My son was at a friend's birthday party, but my daughter wanted to sled down the hill our house is built on, so I took some pictures.

Wow....all that snow is making me jealous :P That hill looks like great fun...my boys would love it!

When i was younger(alot) it snowed often at Christmas in London...... but things have changed and I can't remember the last time we had a truly White Christmas :( It's usually a Wet Christmas now! Fingers crossed though...they have had plenty in the North of England and Scotland so a bit may find its way South!

As I am sure we will all be busy , Merry Christmas to everyone for next week :-*

We have a Winter Wonderland coming our way--6 to 10 inches tomorrow, Sunday, and maybe snow on Christmas Eve!  :D

Yes, and had snowball fights! I got thrown in the snow and got all wet though :P

It's still fun, even if you get soaked. :)  Then, you go back in the house, change, and have a cup of hot chocolate to warm up!

My area is expecting to get 8 to 12 inches of snow this afternoon and evening, a few more inches on Sunday (should make for an interesting New England Patriots game), and even more on Wednesday. :o

Great pics guys and as Nugglemum says we very rarely get snow here in London but we can wish LOL when I was a kid in Wales then we had good snow  ;D

Clearly my mental map is wrong... how can it SNOW in Texas?? What altitude do you live at Mike?

My formative years were spent in Cheshire & Warwickshire where it snowed quite a bit - woo hoo!

No one has ever asked me this so after a look around the web I discovered are altitude is 33 (I'm guessing that's in feet, but I'm not sure).

Yeah I'd guess feet. You could always look at the contours on a map to check :) I'm just astonished that you have had snow in Texas - I was reckoning that height had something to do with it but apparently not! Did you ask some locals how often they've experienced this? Very odd - but a lot of fun :)

We don't get much snow in the South of England these days as MuggleMum mentioned - but when we do get snow we ensure to stop EVERYTHING that we are doing so as to make the most of it :P

In his part of Texas, the is no such thing as "altitude." Officially Houston sits at a whopping 55 feet above average sea level, so you can see why everybody gets concerned if a hurricane is on the way.

I used to live in the "holiday highlands" of Florida. Ask Kelly, she's nearby, but in the foothills at only about 40 feet. Somewhat closer to the angels than Mike.  ;)  The high point in the state is 345 feet, but that's almost on the 'mainland."

Mémé told me it snowed here about 6 years ago. Just about like it did last month.

Wow - cheers Jeff so it's a rather expansive flatness - a bit like Cambridgeshire perhaps only on a larger scale - in flat East Anglia we worry about storm surges, though we see them rather less frequently than you see surges/hurricanes etc.

Well, how interesting :) I really wouldn't have expected that - ahh the weird & wonderful meteorological happenings of new climes...

Yay ;D We got some of the white stuff this morning, only a light covering but it's there!
My kids go back to school tomorrow but at least we will get today to have some fun in it :D

After wearing fab outdoor type trekking shoes all Christmas whilst it was dry, sunny and relatively warm guess who slipped and slided all over the place in heels on the way to work this morning :D he hee!

More snow predicted for Wednesday night (woo) - apparently it's -10 in the Midlands tonight - poor Jules & Angie (they're probably all tucked up in front of fires in dressing gowns & slippers reading the Classics and pondering taking up pipe smoking :rofl:)

At last a decent amount of the white stuff ;D We 've got a few inches now in bedfordshire and more on the way woohooo :)

I'm off outside now to get a store of snow balls made so I can splatter my kids with them as they walk down the drive on way from school haha  >:D payback for all the time they've got me in the past, aint it great being a parent  :rofl:

Theirs seems to be one of the few schools open today in Beds, much to their annoyance this morning ;)

The snow here is great! 7 inches of the wonderful stuff and still falling.

I was planning a trip up to the East Anglian coast today but the M25 wouldn't allow it... no trains running into work either, so a good snowball fight was in order. Followed by making my second snow man in 24 hours (the first was pretty good... the second looked like one of those Icelandic stone piles (Djupalonsandur) :rofl:)

Cute! :D  But I have to say...I'M SICK OF SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's snowing again today and we're probably going to get eight inches.  I'm expecting the kids to be released early from school, since it's supposed to bad by mid-afternoon.

Isn't it funny how we view the snow so differently......I want more and more and you have had enough  :)

The difference over here in the UK from the States and Canada etc is everything is thrown into chaos once we get an inch or two. Trains, buses don't run, schools are closed. Takes days for them to get their finger out and grit/salt the smaller roads. The councils/government are NEVER prepared for it even though they know its coming  >:( 

If you'd had to shovel out a driveway, a walkway, and a mailbox from 42.5 inches (1.07 meters) of snow over the past two months, you'd be sick of it, too! :o  Fortunately, we get winters like this only every few years or so.  Last year, I think I shoveled only once and there wasn't a lot of snow with that storm.  My kids didn't have any days off from school.  Although, they've only had two half-days off this winter, due to weekend storms and good plowing.  They were really hoping for today off, but no dice. :)

Yep you'd be right Kbmum shovelling that amount doesn't sound good ;) This country wouldn't run at all with snow like that  :rofl:
Nice to see photos in the national newspapers of kids enjoying the snow though.....makes everyone smile for a while ;D
