First of all I want to say, good luck with your cards, Cindy!  :ebay:  ;D When I sold all but one costume per character and 2 props per movie from my collection, it didn't really phase me at all.  But to be honest, it's a little sad when I see other Yak Shack members collections on ebay.  I remember a few years ago when we were all so hyper about collecting them and everyone on the boards was so excited for each new set to be released.  Is this the end of the Harry Potter collecting enthusiasm?  I still collect, and I'll always love HP, but other things have taken over.  How is it for everyone else?
Also, my big regret?  Never going to a book release in costume.  I wish I had.

I've had a great time collecting but I think I've hit my limit - I don't think I will be buying any more releases (unless something really special comes up - Ralph Fiennes/Alan Rickman autographs??). Like Kelly, other things have taken over, namely travelling. If I think of it in terms of one case = most likely not worth $700 / definitely a third or half an airline ticket it throws it all into perspective for me :)

Thanks, Kelly and Jo! :D  I'm hoping there are a lot of new collectors who are trying to play catch-up and need some of those cards to complete their sets.  While I'm selling 40 cards, I have a lot more that I'm keeping. :-[  Eventually, I'll sell many of those, too, but I'm just not ready yet.

I'm still interested in HP cards, but that interest isn't as strong as it used to be.  After I read Deathly Hallows, I felt done with the series.  Even the lure of the remaining movies doesn't seem to be enough to keep my interest at the crazy level it once was.  On a basic level, I'm moving on to other books, other movies, and other cards.

Then, there's the sheer number of HP sets and cards.  The new 3D set will be Artbox's 11th HP set with premium inserts.  Unless I made a mistake with my math (very likely, given the day I just had), we currently have 534 autos, costumes, props, filmcards, and case loaders (including SDCC cards).  That's just too many, at least for me, and I feel kind of burned out.  I understand that Arbox has produced so many sets because it's the company's most profitable (and possibly only profitable) license, but it's flooded the market with way too much HP.  Artbox isn't the only company guilty of this.  Just look at the Buffy and Star Trek licenses held by other manufacturers.  IMHO, Buffy and Star Trek have been run into the ground, and Artbox is doing the same thing with HP.

I realized that I don't look at my cards quite as often as I used to, and when I do look at them, I tend to focus on certain cards in each set.  Yes, they're the props, variants, rarer cards, and my POAU filmcard set. :)  I'm also keeping all my POA and POAU cards, since I enjoy those the most.  Isn't it interesting that those are the first two sets Artbox made, when it was all so new?  I'm tired of the great numbers of cards in each set, the repeats, and the generic student cards.

Money is also an issue.  I'm just not interested in most of the common cards and I can't compete for the variants.  There are other cards and sets which are new and fun for me, so I've been going after those cards.  Case in point is the new Upper Deck Spectrum of Stars set.  It's mostly a baseball set, but there's a subset of autos from a lot of 80s rockers -- Vince Neil (Motley Crue), Warrant, Twisted Sister, and more.  True, that's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I had an absolute blast collecting the autos.  A real plus is that I picked up the 16 pack-pulled autos for the price of one box (which has two inserts). :)

Like you, Kelly, I will continue to collect and love HP.  I'm just going to be more picky about the cards I buy.

I'm afraid I haven't collected any for a while now. It all became a bit too much and too many. The thing that really put me off was releases right at the end of the year, if there is any time when I REALLY haven't got any money its just after Christmas. There was too much milking of the 'cash cow' too. I too feel closure after DH, and somethings JK has done since have also put me off. But then thats potter, can't say what I would be like if there were some decent Dr Who or Torchwood cards.

Inkworks is producing a Dr. Who set.  No details are available yet, but the company mentioned to some people at the Philly show that the set should  be released in August. :)  Rumor has it that it will be a retrospective set and might have sketches.

Should I start saving now ;)

I will proberly still pick up the odd box here and there, the Mrs who is the real HP fan has a problem with lenticular type cards so we wont get them, I would buy a box or so of Torchwood if they look good and also possibly another Supernatural.  Otherwise I might just revert to some of my earlier sets Lady Death etc 

Definitely! ;)  If it turns out that you don't like the set, you'll have the money to spend on something else. :D


My son can't see small 3D images, either, although he has no problem with larger images, like 3D movies.

She has seriouse problems with them large or small  :o
