: Torchwood : Bitsy October 22, 2007, 03:19:52 AM So, along with discovering Dr. Who, I have been watching Torchwood. I have to admit, I really, really like it. It's really cool. I like the characters, particularly Jack and Gwen.
Is there any back story on this series or the characters that we don't know about in America? Are they filming another season? Is it popular in the UK? : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2007, 03:23:24 AM The only back story is Jack and there's not much of that other than in Dr who, he is still much of a mystery. There is a new series going to be aired late this year in the UK. I like Torchwood, but I like Dr Who better, the sex in Torchwood gets in the way.
: Re: Torchwood : Roz October 22, 2007, 03:28:50 AM I don't know why but I never quite finished the first series of Torchwood. I loved it but it got very lonely, sinister and it put me on edge whilst I was at a time in my life when I felt pretty useless... no idea why Torchwood would do that to me but I'd like to go back to it and catch the last couple of eps. Are you on series 2 Dawn? Or when does that start?
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2007, 03:33:21 AM I think its late in the year sometime.
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy October 22, 2007, 03:53:10 AM I have noticed that Dr. Who is more family friendly. I love Dr. Who. :) It's just so much fun.
Torchwood is very, very sexual, which surprised me a bit, since I discovered Dr. Who first and this was a spin-off. This series is definitely darker. The story-lines on Torchwood are intense. The one with the fairies was very deep, while the one last week was disturbing (the one about the mysterious country-side deaths). However, the relationship between Owen and Gwen evolved at the end of last week's episode, which, for some reason, I don't think will sit well with Jack. What series is this, then? My guess is series one, but I'm not sure. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2007, 04:04:19 AM Yup series one, series two hasn't aired yet. There is also a kids spin off called Sarah Jane adventures although I only saw one of them, the Dr is the best (not to mention mr tennant being very tasty too ;) )
Have you seen any of the orginal Dr who's? : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy October 22, 2007, 04:31:57 AM The only Dr. Who's I have seen are of the Dr Who before Tennant took over (and I must agree hugely...he is so dreamy :-*).
BBC America showed the first season of Dr. Who with David Tennant and the ones before that. I was drawn in immediately. :) I understand the Dr. Who series has been going on for a while? I wonder if I could rent past seasons so I can really catch up. Is Tennant your favorite Dr. Who thus far? I really like him. :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2007, 04:40:02 AM That website I gave you has a link to the classic series where you can find out about all the old ones. It had stopped for something like 16 years before the new series came back, there was an attempt with a TV but it didn't really work. David's doctor is the 10th, before him the 4th doctor was a favourite, with me too. But I like many like number 10 the best now.
The Doctor (9) that brought the series back (Chris Eccelstone) was good but he annoyed me, as he went on how he had always wanted the part but just about managed one series, but to our advantage, as David's Doctor is so much better, he seems more friendly than Chris's but still with that dangerous side. There are a couple of episodes in the latest series which show just how good David's acting is they were brilliant. If you like DT you really should try and get your hand on Casanova ;) : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy October 22, 2007, 04:46:58 AM Casanova? Is that a movie or series? There was a Casanova starring Heath Ledger not too long ago, but I'd love to see David Tennant in that role! He is a dashing man, isn't he? ;)
Ok, so the Doctor I first saw then was the one right before David Tennant took the role? Chris Eccelstone? I liked him, though I did think he was pretty cold...very cold actually. I like that David seems kinder...and playful. I just really think he fits the role so well. I will have to explore the history of the series through the site you gave me. I can't wait to learn more about it! :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2007, 04:58:01 AM Ah yes but David's Casanova was first, and it was written by the main writer for Dr Who these days.
Here you go. ;) http://www.amazon.com/Casanova-Masterpiece-Theater-David-Tennant/dp/B000HEWGWE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-8067019-3808743?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1193006803&sr=1-2 (remember to go through Yak link, if you buy it) Glad there's an other dr who fan :D : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy October 22, 2007, 06:45:29 AM Ooooh! That looks really good! I might have to get that! I can totally picture him in that role as well! :D
I'm a new fan, but awfully glad to be one nonetheless! I only wish I had discovered it sooner! :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 23, 2007, 01:59:47 AM Better late than never. ;)
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy October 23, 2007, 02:34:40 AM Better late than never. ;) Very true! :) I'm trying to get a friend of mine into it, but he's being stubborn (he's very picky ::)). If I buy him the DVD's for the Holidays or something, he'll watch them out of obligation and ultimately end up liking them (that's how he started watching other shows and films, including HP). My Mom saw one episode and is now hooked on Dr. Who. She was too spooked by Torchwood to watch another episode, though she said she wants to pick up on it again. :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 23, 2007, 02:56:21 AM Yay its spreading. :)
: Re: Torchwood : Angels January 06, 2008, 03:40:18 PM For UK Shacks the new season of Torchwood starts on the 16th January at 9pm on BBC2. I have seen the trailers on TV a couple of times and it looks great. I am looking forward to Martha Jones joining the team. You can also watch the trailer from the Torchwood site http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/
: Re: Torchwood : Roz January 08, 2008, 03:43:35 AM AHA! Finally a good reason to watch the last couple of eps from the last season :D
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola January 10, 2008, 06:15:31 PM I thought there was supposed to be a cut down family version repeated after but I can't find it in the listings.
: Re: Torchwood : Sharon January 11, 2008, 01:55:11 AM I thought it was being shown the next day (Thursday) at about 7pm. Have you looked on the Torchwood site? The previews look so good ;D. And from the look of things James Masters is doing what he does best - playing a slightly unhinged psycho >:D
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola January 11, 2008, 06:15:49 PM Nope can only find snoocer the next day at that time.
: Re: Torchwood : Sharon January 14, 2008, 10:34:51 PM You're right, I can't find it either, even though the BBC site says it is on :(. I wonder if the first one is so near the knuckle they can't edit it :-\
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola January 16, 2008, 07:04:04 PM Yeah perhaps they are only left with five minutes ::)
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy January 17, 2008, 01:40:56 AM I didn't know they had a toned down, family version...I don't think I've seen that available on BBC America. :(
The new season premieres here on the 26th. :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola January 17, 2008, 07:02:03 PM No the said they were doing it for this new series but we can't find it anywhere.
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy January 18, 2008, 06:35:51 AM Interesting. Wonder what's going on there. :-\
: Re: Torchwood : Sharon January 26, 2008, 02:24:35 AM OK they have now got their act together and the 'family friendly' version is now being shown on a Thursday at 7 pm. Of course it is only 6 minutes long .....
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola January 26, 2008, 03:39:18 AM Lol no I did see both this week and the family one is more or less the same with the gore toned down a bit.
: Re: Torchwood : Scifi Cards January 26, 2008, 06:00:26 AM For those in the States that don't know what all the fuss is about...
Torchwood Season 1 was released on DVD this week here, so it's not too late to catch up. Already have mine and I'm thinking about watching it all again before the new season premiers here on Saturday. Have to do something while sorting Heroes cards! >:D Ed : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy March 13, 2008, 05:38:53 AM Since I don't have access to the Torchwood website (because anyone outside the UK cannot gain access--I would imagine b/c we are behind on BBC America), can any of our UK friends fill us in on any gossip surrounding the whole Owen episode.
I was really shocked about what happened to Owen. And are they leading to a Jack and Gwen relationship? : Re: Torchwood : thor March 13, 2008, 12:33:32 PM I finally got to see some of season one thanks to my local Blockbuster finally getting it ::). I have to rent them one disk at a time though so I am patiently waiting or should I say impatiently waiting ^-^ for disk three to arrive at my post office so I can pick it up ;D I am looking forward to "Countryside" because of the previews on the last disk, it looks scary and exciting. I just know when I start making money again I will have to buy the box set for season one :o
I was also actually able to find someone on the net who downloads season 2 after they air in the UK so I am caught up with that season also which is really nice even if I am watching them somewhat out of order ::) I find that out of all the character Ianto is my favorite with Jack, Tosh and Owen coming in after. I can't seem to tolerate Gwen half the time because of things she does but otherwise then that I really like "Torchwood". I do love what I am seeing in the second season or series (I get confused with that sorry) so far and I hope it continues to be great for the final few episodes it has left. The only sad thing about getting hooked on another sci fi show is that when the cards come out I know I will want to collect them :-\ I just hope they kindly wait until I find a job :o= ;) I can now see why this is a must see show for some people ;D : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola March 14, 2008, 02:14:36 AM As far as I know, the US is only one behind us (thats on I main channel, I'm one ahead from digital)
What do you want to know Bitsy? I have heard talk of Dr who cards, I think I might have missed them. But I haven't heard anything about Torchwood cards yet. : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy March 14, 2008, 04:59:21 AM As far as I know, the US is only one behind us (thats on I main channel, I'm one ahead from digital) What do you want to know Bitsy? I have heard talk of Dr who cards, I think I might have missed them. But I haven't heard anything about Torchwood cards yet. Well, anything really. I don't want to say what happened to Owen outright b/c I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen that episode yet, but are there rumblings of him possibly leaving the show? I just didn't see that coming. Do you think it's doing well enough to have another season? Oh, I had read that Susie might make yet another appearance...anything to that? Yes, we are one episode behind, I think...I'm impatient and I really wish I could access the website. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola March 15, 2008, 03:05:29 AM Have PMed, so as no to give any spoilers.
For those yaks wanting more there's Torchwood books. There's new ones just come out in the Uk by the looks and there out the end of the month in the US. They look good. They have changed the title of one between for the uk title. Those books look very interesting! Thank you for posting the links! :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola March 17, 2008, 04:40:16 AM Oh dear I have ordered the two audio stories and two of the three books :S
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy March 18, 2008, 02:26:37 AM :) Let us know how they are when you get them! They look really, really good!
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola March 19, 2008, 02:55:57 AM Yeah I will. I'm getting near to the end of 'Slow decay' which is rather good. Its got some good lines in it and some not so good lines, there's one where Owen says 'he's definately the lesser of two weevils'.
I'm writing a story on an other website, although its a cross over with an other progamme. http://z4.invisionfree.com/Regency_House_Party/index.php?showtopic=880&st=0 : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy March 20, 2008, 02:26:21 AM There are a lot of witty lines in Torchwood. :D
I'm looking forward to this weekend's episode re: Wedding Day. Thank you for that link! Can't wait to read it! :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola March 20, 2008, 02:35:29 AM Hope you like it :D
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola April 02, 2008, 12:54:59 AM I contacted the Torchwood website to see why you couldn't get on. Here's the reply I got;
Dear Dawn, We have to restrict some of our content to the UK for rights reasons. Our system does this by looking at your IP address (the unique number ofyour computer). If your IP address is not recognised as one that isinside the UK, you will receive an error message. The only other option would be to use the text only version, here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/education/betsie/parser.pl Not very hi-tech, but certain video's maybe available to non-UKresidents. The Torchwood Team The link is strange, I can't get it to work here but that is what you get for the text verison of Torchwood, good luck. : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy April 03, 2008, 03:33:26 AM I contacted the Torchwood website to see why you couldn't get on. I really appreciate you trying, though. :) Which, speaking of Torchwood, I have read some rumors that have me pretty concerned about the future of the show....I will send you a pm as to avoid spoilers. ;) :) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola April 06, 2008, 01:48:34 AM Wow the last epsiode is a shocker.
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy April 06, 2008, 02:26:51 AM Wow the last epsiode is a shocker. Oh no...I have a bad feeling. I really hope it's not what I think... :'( : Re: Torchwood : Bitsy April 20, 2008, 09:14:42 AM Wow the last epsiode is a shocker. Oh no...I have a bad feeling. I really hope it's not what I think... :'( Well, I just finished the finale....wow, that was so sad--I cried like a baby. :'( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola April 20, 2008, 05:24:50 PM Oh yes, its a whole box of tissues job :'(
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola May 06, 2008, 04:45:19 PM Right I have read 5/6 of the Torchwood books and the one I would really recommend is 'Twilight Streets' By Gary Russell, its very good and ties well to the program. I did have to go and watch the last episode of series one as it related to it (that Bilis bloke is in it), and its got over shadowing the the second half of series two. Great Read.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola May 20, 2008, 02:27:37 AM Question for you here, I know the answer but do you?
Which Torchwood Character other than captain Jack has been in Doctor Who? : Re: Torchwood : Roz May 21, 2008, 03:02:53 AM ?? Somehow you can't mean Dr Jones? It seems too easy ... and I know you are more tricky than that ;)
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola May 21, 2008, 03:05:53 AM :P It is more difficult, I only found out not long ago, I was suprised. She's not Torchwood at least not yet.
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc May 21, 2008, 11:32:01 AM Well Tosh appeared in a episode of Dr Who ;D She played Dr Sato in "Aliens of London"
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola May 22, 2008, 01:23:09 AM Well done, it is indeed Tosh I was aiming at :D
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy May 25, 2008, 07:07:40 AM WOW! Tosh was on Dr. Who! I must have missed that one! :o
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola May 25, 2008, 01:49:44 PM Yeah it was in the first series of the new who.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 12, 2008, 05:28:29 AM Torchwood withdrawal symptoms worry not. Here's a story crafted by me;
Dead Link If Things Were Different - Tosh goes out to investigate some readings, but odd things start to happen, Owen doesn't recognise her and the team don't know who Owen is. Coming soon (I'm still typing it up from my written manuscript) 'Those we have lost' post 'Exit wounds' *Beware spoilers below if you haven't seen 'Exit Wounds' Jack is blaming himself and Tosh and Owen aren't resting as peacefully as they should be. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 19, 2008, 05:21:29 PM Here's the link to 'Those We Have Lost'
: Torchwood and real aliens? : Morningangel-Iola June 21, 2008, 04:01:14 AM : Re: Torchwood : De Orc June 21, 2008, 03:40:52 PM So it was some of Russle T's mates you think LOL
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 22, 2008, 02:10:05 AM Lol
: Re: Torchwood and real aliens? : Bitsy June 23, 2008, 02:21:48 AM http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7465041.stm Should they be suprised it was near Cardiff ;) Wow, if ever there was a definition of irony, this just might be it. Very cool! :D Better call Captain Jack to investigate that rift! ;) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 05, 2008, 03:28:15 AM Just so you know, there is going to be a Torchwood story on BBC 4 at some point. I was interested until I found out it was post exit wounds, don't think I'll bother. Seems like Marthas in it big surprise, any money on Micky too?
There are going to be three more novels at the end of the year, two before exit wounds one after. : Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 05, 2008, 04:30:49 PM So we going to have M & M's on Torchwood now then LOL
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 05, 2008, 10:52:56 PM Yup prob.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 06, 2008, 02:04:15 AM UPDATE:
Jack last seen accompanied by Martha and Micky :( I am really annoyed why should Torchwood be populated by Dr Who cast offs at the sacrific of orginal character? >:() : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 07, 2008, 04:13:54 AM Question for you here, I know the answer but do you? Which Torchwood Character other than captain Jack has been in Doctor Who? Ok new one, which Torchwood character hasn't featured in Dr Who? : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 12, 2008, 04:51:03 AM I've been thinking, yes it does happen occasionally. Anyway re: Tosh/Owen vs Martha/Micky. Why Tosh and Owen were so good, they were good characters because they weren't what you would expect of a Dr and a techy. Owen was a rough around the edges doctor with a lower class accent, not what you would expect when thinking of a Doctor but a bl**dy good one too and Tosh was a woman techy, a role which is generally a mans area, yet she to was bl**dy good. With taking on Martha and micky you loose all that. Martha is smart and well spoken (and do they really want a doctor who never actally did all her training, all those years at med school are rather important!) and low and behold a bloke techy how unusual.
Rant over. (well for now at least) : Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 14, 2008, 02:10:23 PM Spoils it for me replacing Tosh and Owen with these two >:() It will no longer be Torchwood standing alone but now Torchwood/Dr Who
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 14, 2008, 02:54:17 PM I know, Dr Who Reunited club :( Yeah loose orginal characters for recycled ones. ::) I want Tosh and Owen back! >:()
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 17, 2008, 01:34:21 PM That makes two of us ;D
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 17, 2008, 05:28:59 PM Join my bring back Tosh and Owen group on facebook there are only five of us so far :(
I've just been thinking, there will be two Jones at Torchwood if Martha joins. Alas Smith and Jones. :'( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 26, 2008, 03:04:15 AM I've heard that Freema is out of Torchwood.
: Re: Torchwood : thor July 26, 2008, 01:13:14 PM I have heard the same thing and in a way it makes me happy because no one can replace Owen and I am crossing my fingers they get him back somehow.
I also heard that she may have signed up for a spin off of the U.S. Law and Order only the show she will be in will be called "Law and Order:London". Just when you thought they couldn't possibly make anymore Law and Orders this happens (that is if it is true). ::) My favorite characters (Ianto & Jack) are is still there though so I am not complaining about the new season yet, I am just hoping they have more then the so called five episodes :o= :o= :o= : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 26, 2008, 08:46:08 PM I soooooooo want Owen and Tosh back. I don't fancy the prospect of Micky either.
Is it like CSI there's one for everywhere. You're lucky you still have you faves, got a feeling they will stick the the five which they are showing in one week :( Recognise the place in my avi? ;) : Re: Torchwood : thor July 27, 2008, 03:15:19 AM I recognize the place in your avi, that is so cool ;D
You can say that Law and Order is like CSI in that there is one for everywhere. If you have never seen a Law and Order you get the law in the first half of the show then the order comes in the second half hence the name Law and Order  At this time the US has the original Law and Order, Law and Order:Special Victims Unit, and Law and Order: Criminal Intent. They had one called Law and Order:Jury Duty but amazingly enough it falied so it got canceled. I am also like you and I would prefer Tosh and Owen back and I don't care for Mickey coming in and replacing one of them because I didn't really care for him when he was on Doctor Who. That will stink if they only stick to the five :( It is bad enough that some people have to spend a fortune for the DVD's for only 13 episodes but to spend it on only 5 episodes >:() :'( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 27, 2008, 03:24:16 AM Guess where I've been lol. Do you know they have put strawberries up the water tower? The cheek of it.
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/MorningAngel-Iola/IMG_0187.jpg) Did no one turn up for jury duty lol. I'm not sure if its totally new here or I just haven't paid attention to it, not really my kind of show. Yes am worried for it if they don't bring them back. Series two was great so much better than one, and then they go and kill two of the main characters :( Did you know I've been writing my own? I have a feeling about the five, I think its because Dr Who is only going to have four episodes and that a lot of the team do both, they are having a break from both, although personally I think it would have been better to let us have Torchwood to fill the drought from Dr Who, but its all going to be over in a week :( Although if it's five specials that involve the resurrection of Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato, then I would be all for it. : Re: Torchwood : thor July 27, 2008, 04:12:59 AM I have to say the strawberries are something else. It kind of reminds me of when my sister told me they revamped the New York taxi's by putting flowers on them.
That could be a reason it failed, no one showing up for there civic duty  I suffer enough with the other Law and Order's in this house so thankfully my mom never got into that one so I really don't honestly no why it failed ;) I loved series two of Torchwood even if I did have to watch it on small screen on the computer since I don't have BBC America were I live ::) I am looking forward to the DVD's coming out but I will have to wait for them to go on sale before I can purchase them :-\ I loved Ianto's growth and by the scenes I saw on Doctor Who it looks like Jack might have grown up some to or we can only hope. I heard you were writing some stories but I don't remember were I heard it from :-\ Were are they I wouldn't mind checking them out ;D Let's keep our fingers crossed there is more then five but I am with you if they would at least bring one of them back I would be happy with only five or then again maybe not. I am really thickle :-X ;) : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 27, 2008, 04:26:40 AM Yeah, kinda spoils the image. I'm just wondering if the strawberries will have gone before they start filming the new series.
She a bit of a fan? My dad like CSI but luckily he doesn't watch all of them. Tell you want the had over here a while ago a progamme called City of Vice it was set in the 1700s it was cool like CSI with powered wigs. Aw at least you managed to get hold of it. When does it come out, it can't be long its out here and you weren't that far behind us in the airing. Yeah the stories and the characters were better, there was less sex and more story which was good. I think Owen got better since he was dead, was it the love of a good woman? I saw the bit again the other day when he comes back to life and looks at Tosh and then looks away, still wonder what his reaction means. I have recorded them on DVD but I had to fiddle about with it and its not great, I may get the box set if its ever a bargin. It was nice to see the Torchwood crew on Dr Who its a shame it wasn't all of them. Did you know Owen's the only one who hasn't been on Dr Who? If You want to email me I'll send them or you can find them here at the bottom http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1602112/ there's three. 'If things were different' is set between 'Reset' and 'exit wounds'. 'Those we have lost' is post 'exit wounds' 'Phantasmagoria' is post 'Those we have lost' Well I read about the five eppies on the offical Torchwood site so I think that's what will be happening. Although I am still praying they bring my faves back/ : Re: Torchwood : thor July 27, 2008, 05:18:38 AM Maybe the strawberries are there for a festival sort of thing and they will be gone by the time filming begins ???
You can say she is a bit of a fan if you want to count watching them almost every single time they are on including reruns which are like mini marathons of 5 or 6 episodes in a row on TNT almost everyday. It has gotten especially bad for us since she has been held up in the house do to surgery on her leg and she is stuck on the couch do to her cast she has to wear. I like CSI myself (the original only) but this year will be different since they announced William Peterson is leaving the show around I believe mid season :-\ I agree about Owen seeming better since he was sort of killed but he never really was a problem for me now Gwen on the other hand ::) I sort of wish they would have killed her off and left Tosh alone (I loved Tosh :'(). She was my favorite female character on the show and now I have none. :( I will check have to check out your stories and if the link doesn't end up working I will email you for them ;) You are lucky you can go on the official site. I live in America so it is not allowed >:( :( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 27, 2008, 05:25:25 AM Well what I heard is they were filming in August and we are nearly there.
Oh dear she is law and order mad then :-s Yeah from what I've heard there has been a lot of cast leaving CSI. No they wouldn't have got rid of her she's Jack's right hand woman. Funny how both welsh people survived. I loved Tosh and it was so heart breaking that her and Owen never got together esp as he regretted it too, although my stories... Sure :D Hope you like them, I love writting them, I'm still working on the third one. I emailed them about that, they said the only thing that shouldn't work was the iplayer :( : Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 27, 2008, 07:28:08 PM Love Law & Order, SVU and Criminal Intent but cant get on with CSI anybody watch NCIS ;D Did you enjoy yourself down in Cardiff , spot any UFO's LOL
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 27, 2008, 08:37:38 PM I had a lovely time, although seems the rift was having an off day, no aliens.
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 27, 2008, 11:12:39 PM What not even the odd saucer shaped object in the sky :o and here was me thinking that Cardiff was now renowned for it :P
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 27, 2008, 11:30:54 PM Well I was only there for a few hours it might have wanted until I went home.
: Re: Torchwood : thor July 28, 2008, 03:29:59 AM Maybe the ratings will be so good they decide to shoot some more next year :o=, a person can dream ;D Like I said before as long as Ianto and Jack are there I will enjoy Torchwood but you are right Tosh is sorely missed.
Yeah you can say she is a fan ^-^ I like to watch it sometimes but not all the time like she does :o So far I read your Harry Potter story and since I love Lupin it was nice reading a story about him also nice job on the story. I like your take on his bite. ;) As to DeOrc's question on NCIS, yeah I watched it for a while then stopped when the new director started getting on my nerves with her and Gibbs. Now that she is dead though I may check it out again on the new season. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 28, 2008, 05:04:22 AM Yeah you can hope. Just like me with T & O.
Lol Thanks : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 04, 2008, 04:17:51 AM Oh I found a small ray of hope on Wiki '[Naoko] Mori has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the show at a later date' :o= Doesn't say if Burn Gorman has or not.
:o= :o= :o= :o= :o= : Re: Torchwood : thor August 05, 2008, 05:34:19 AM Fingers will be crossed right along with you :o= but one has to wonder how the heck they are going to bring her back ??? Owen would be easier to write back in the show then she would :-\ :o= :o= :o=
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 05, 2008, 02:22:45 PM Really? Suzie and Owen have both been brought back from gun shot wounds. I managed to resurrect both of them in my story.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 08, 2008, 05:59:38 PM Just so you know, there is going to be a Torchwood story on BBC 4 at some point. I was interested until I found out it was post exit wounds, don't think I'll bother. Seems like Marthas in it big surprise, any money on Micky too? There are going to be three more novels at the end of the year, two before exit wounds one after. Will be broadcast 10th Sept. : Re: Torchwood : De Orc August 13, 2008, 11:42:11 PM Please oh please do bring them back LOL and no Micky >:()
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 16, 2008, 03:36:18 AM Please oh please do bring them back LOL and no Micky >:() This is about the radio play, I find the last sentence very interesting. Torchwood: Lost Souls Radio Play - 11.08.08 As part of BBC Radio 4's Big Bang experiment, a special radio episode of Torchwood - 'Lost Souls' will be broadcast on Radio 4 on Wednesday 10 September at 2.15pm. "Somewhere out there in that chaos of darkness and light, of science and protons, of gods and stars and death... somewhere there's an answer." The Torchwood Institute was founded by Queen Victoria in 1879 to protect the British Empire against the threat of alien invasion. By 2008, all that remains of the organisation is a small team based in Cardiff. And now, following the tragic deaths of two of their colleagues, the remaining three - Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones - have to protect the human race against another unknown force from the darkness. Martha Jones, ex-time traveller and now working as a doctor for a UN task force, has been called to CERN - the world's largest particle physics laboratory in Geneva - where they're about to activate the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC is a particle accelerator which has been built deep underground in a 27km tunnel under Switzerland and France. Once activated, the collider will fire beams of protons together, recreating conditions a billionth of a second after the Big Bang - and potentially allowing the human race a greater insight into what the Universe is made of. But so much could go wrong - it could open a gateway to a parallel dimension, or create a black hole - and now voices from the past are calling out to people and scientists have started to disappear... Where have the missing scientists gone? What is the secret of the glowing man? What is lurking in the underground tunnel? And do the dead ever really stay dead? Afternoon Play: Torchwood 'Lost Souls' BBC Radio 4, 2.15pm, Wednesday 10 September : Re: Torchwood : thor August 16, 2008, 03:24:26 PM I wish I could hear this :(
If anyone does get a chance to hear it could they please come back hear and tell the ones like me who won't be able to due to living in the US all about it please ??? Thanks and I am still sad that there will only be 5 new episodes for series 3 :( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 16, 2008, 07:14:32 PM Places are advertising pre-orders of the CD so you might be able to get it over there.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 17, 2008, 04:43:09 AM I wish I could hear this :( If anyone does get a chance to hear it could they please come back hear and tell the ones like me who won't be able to due to living in the US all about it please ??? I have emailed them and asked them if you are going to get it over there. I'll let you know if they reply. : Re: Torchwood : thor August 17, 2008, 01:38:12 PM Thank You :-)
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 27, 2008, 04:09:22 AM I got a reply;
Dear Dawn, The Torchwood Play won't be available to listen outside of the UK sorry. Although it is set to go on sale shortly after its air date. The Torchwood Team : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola August 27, 2008, 02:33:28 PM Some info up about the next series if you can call it that;
"Filming Under Way for New Series of Torchwood - 26.08.08 Filming for the third series of the smash hit drama Torchwood, created by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, has begun in Cardiff. Due to transmit in 2009 on BBC One, the series - called Torchwood: Children Of Earth - sees the team embarking on a single action-packed adventure as they battle for the future of the human race against the most fierce force they have encountered. The highly motivated Torchwood team are John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones. Other regular cast involved in their high-octane adventure are Kai Owen as Rhys Williams, Gwen's husband, and Tom Price as PC Andy. Special guests in the five part series are Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It, Skins), who plays the role of Mr Frobisher - a civil servant who's hiding a terrible secret; Paul Copely (Coronation Street, The Bill) as Clem - the survivor still haunted by his past and Liz May Brice (Bad Girls, The Bill) as Johnson - the cynical covert government agent determined to expose Torchwood. Russell T Davies said: "The new series of Torchwood is hugely bold and promises to be bigger and better than ever - the audience is in for an amazing ride. This series is one big serial and the most ambitious story we've ever made, and we've got plenty of surprises in store." Julie Gardner, Head of Drama BBC Wales said: "We hope to make Torchwood a gripping and surprising TV event with storylines that push our team into greater danger and sacrifice. Joining our main cast are some fantastic guest artists who will only add to making this unmissable TV." The new series is executive produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner. The producer is Peter Bennett (Doctor Who). Torchwood: Children of Earth is written by Russell T Davies, John Fay (Clocking Off, Coronation Street, Mobile) and James Moran (Doctor Who, Torchwood) and directed by Euros Lyn (best director in BAFTA Cymru TV Awards, Doctor Who, George Gently)." Still won't be the same without Tosh and Owen, although didn't see Micky mentioned. : Re: Torchwood : De Orc September 03, 2008, 03:34:07 PM Thanks for the update Dawn ;D
: Re: Torchwood : thor September 09, 2008, 09:06:59 AM The ending with the word sacrifice worries me :-\
Thanks for sharing this information though and thank you for finding out about the upcoming play for me. If anyone listens to it I wouldn't mind a review on it here if anyone has the time especially since us Torchwood fans in the US won't get to hear it themselves :( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 14, 2008, 04:36:43 PM Well RTD is very envirmonenatlly friendly, like at the recycling he does, look what Gareth David-Lloyd is called in 'Mine all mine'. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0785542/
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc October 15, 2008, 11:40:54 PM Hopefuly it will be a good story line, some of RTD's stuff in Dr Who was a bit lame at times >:D
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 16, 2008, 03:04:21 AM Its old I only just found out about it.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola October 22, 2008, 04:45:21 AM Well looking at some details of casting for the new series it looks like they have got Tosh and Owen's replacements :( There's a secretary who hacks into something she shouldn't and a junior doctor who both get entwined in Torchwood, While these original characters would be better than recycled ones I'd still rather have T & O back.
: Re: Torchwood : thor October 29, 2008, 07:02:31 AM I just recently found a site that gives you a sneak peek of pictures and scenes from the third series of Torchwood "Children of Earth" and I can say that I am excited and can't wait for it to start. It is a shame that we are only getting five episodes for this season :(
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola November 03, 2008, 06:15:35 AM Here a couple of things for the next series. Apparently Tosh isn't frozen like all other personnel but is buried :( according to the Torchwood archive which I have to get.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola November 13, 2008, 06:18:03 AM Anyone watching Little Dorrit? Eve Myles is great in it.
: Re: Torchwood : grecopa November 23, 2008, 10:35:38 AM I haven't been reading this topic because I didn't want any spoilers. I just saw the season 2 finale and I was wondering if season 3 has started yet? I get it on BBC America and they show everything late here.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola November 23, 2008, 10:00:06 PM Series three isn't out until next year some time over here.
: Re: Torchwood : thor December 03, 2008, 10:47:41 AM This isn't about the Torchwood series but it is about Torchwood so I thought I would ask it here :-\
Has anyone read the latest book out for Torchwood titled "Almost Perfect" ??? I just wanted to get a review on it to see if it was worth purchasing since I live in the US (prices for the books are around $10.00 here even though they are the size of a paperback :() I have to be careful with my money so I wanted to know if anyone out there thought it was worth reading. What I am looking for is if Ianto is pertinent to the story and if it has any Gwen/Jack vibes in it, but mostly I just want to know if it is a good story for Torchwood. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola December 04, 2008, 04:52:35 AM Sorry I haven't had that one as I don't want to think of Torchwood without Tosh and Owen. The story does sound good though, Ianto wakes up in a womans body. On Amazon uk its got 3 five stars and 1 four stars so it looks promising.
: Re: Torchwood : thor December 05, 2008, 04:44:29 PM Thanks, I will probably have to break down and buy it after Christmas because I do want to read it ;) It will be strange and sad reading a book without Tosh and Owen in it with them :'( If anyone gets it before hand and does read it I would love to hear their thoughts on it :D
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc December 10, 2008, 11:20:24 PM Quick question how good are the books? I have practicaly all the Dr Who paperbacks and some of them to be honest were rubbish.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola December 13, 2008, 04:21:28 AM They tend to be a bit of a mixture. My favourite one was Twlight Streets.
: Re: Torchwood : Bitsy December 19, 2008, 03:24:38 AM Well, at least they will be new characters, instead of characters we have already seen from another series. But I would rather have Tosh and Owen back as well.
I did read an article where the actress that played Tosh said she would like to come back one day...so maybe the door is open. Plus, if it's true that Tosh is buried in the ground and not frozen--wouldn't that be the first Torchwood member they have done that with? Maybe there is something more to that... :-\ : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola December 19, 2008, 04:24:28 AM Well I heard the hub was going to be blown up in the next series so maybe the grounds safer. Here's a fact the hub is being used in the Dr Who Christmas special as the Cybermens lair.
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc December 22, 2008, 07:18:49 PM Thanks Dawn will have a look for that one, are the Torchwood lot (new) in the xmas special then??
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola December 23, 2008, 03:52:21 AM No Torchwood at xmas as far as I know, just the set being used.
: Re: Torchwood : thor April 09, 2009, 07:49:20 AM Did anyone hear when season three would start yet? I have to find a way to watch it online since I don't have BBC America :(
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola April 10, 2009, 03:04:14 AM Not until later in the year from what I have heard.
: Re: Torchwood : thor April 10, 2009, 03:19:18 PM Thanks ;D I will definitely have to find a way to watch the five episodes especially since they stated we will learn more about Ianto in some of the interviews. I am just hoping that no more characters get killed off since I am still sad at the thought of no more Owen and Tosh :'(
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola April 20, 2009, 03:22:12 PM John Barrowman mentioned in an interview it'll be about Juneish.
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 13, 2009, 02:25:57 AM Right from what I have read is should be 20th July both is the UK and the USA but who's to say they won't change it. Also there are Torchwood radio plays starting on BBC radio 4 beginning in July.
: Re: Torchwood : Bogleg June 13, 2009, 02:50:43 AM John Barrowman mentioned in an interview it'll be about Juneish. That's interesting. I hadn't read anything about the upcoming story. Who is Juneish?: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 13, 2009, 02:55:05 AM No during June lol. Although it seems July now. The story will be over five days and its called Children of Earth. Something happens to the children they all stop and I think they say it happened before.
: Re: Torchwood : Bogleg June 13, 2009, 05:16:04 AM No during June lol. Although it seems July now. The story will be over five days and its called Children of Earth. Something happens to the children they all stop and I think they say it happened before. GOTCHA   : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 26, 2009, 06:51:10 PM 6th July, 9pm, BBC One
Yay we have a definate. They have updated the website too and it seems we are going to meet Ianto's sister. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola June 29, 2009, 04:09:09 AM Also radio plays
Wednesday (1st), Thursday, Friday 2.15pm, Radio 4 : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 07, 2009, 05:37:13 AM Pretty good so far what do you reckon?
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 07, 2009, 02:32:53 PM Brilliant much darker so far ;D I for one am realy enjoying it cant wait for tonights episode LOL
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 08, 2009, 03:39:28 PM Lots of nakedness in last nights epsiode. They must have spend hours on Jack's costume ^-^
We loved the way even when Ianto is nicking a digger he still has all the safety kit on, sooooo Ianto. : Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 09, 2009, 03:27:19 AM LoL yep the break out was quite something ;D and we get to meet some of Jacks family :o What did you think of this evenings episode!! quite a thriller.
I have to say that Gwen has not been one of my fav's till this, she realy has started to shine ;D : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 09, 2009, 03:32:01 AM Yeah it was good. Wonder whats going to happen next. Did you notice the aliens arrived slap bang in the middle, middle episode exactly in the middle.
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 09, 2009, 04:03:26 AM LOL nope I honestly cant say that I did but will take your word for it ;D I like the bits coming out about Jacks past not all of it good :o
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 09, 2009, 04:06:13 AM Jack's been alive an awfully long time he must have a whole army of skeletons. I reckon he was made to do it to pay them off. Remember the first series he let them take one girl.
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 10, 2009, 03:05:01 AM Very true but I do believe he is now officialy ANGRY >:() IANTO is DEAD!!!!
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 10, 2009, 03:33:04 AM I'm in shock, he can't stay dead surely that only leaves Jack and Gwen. Hopefully he get resurrenced along with Tosh and Owen :o=
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 10, 2009, 05:12:00 PM He will wake up in the shower and it will have all been a bad dream LOL
: Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 10, 2009, 09:34:31 PM Well it being Torchwood can tosh and owen be in there too?
: Re: Torchwood : De Orc July 11, 2009, 03:29:43 AM Possibly but having just seen the final episode I doubt it :o Is this the end of Torchwood or will it go on with Gwen and a new team!! will Capt Jack ever return or is that it until he turns into the Face of Boe >:D Tune in next week for further exciting instalments LOL
Honest opinion I do hope that they do continue it with Gwen and a new team but doubt if they will >:() : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 11, 2009, 03:48:52 AM I liked Children of Earth but feel really let down by the ending. I heard that a new series depended on the ratings for this which were pretty good to start with not sure if they have stayed constant. I really hope they make a new series. Personally now I am worried about alien invasion as we only have a pregnant woman to defend us. Jack's got to be back if they do its his show really, I suppose he needs to get his head in gear what with killing his grandson an all. They will need to start from scratch with the team though being three down, I think Lois is a candidate also maybe the woman who was trying to kill them to begin with, now she has had her eyes opened to the government, she wears black and knows how to handle a gun. But even if they do I will still miss the old team RIP Tosh, Owen and Ianto :'(
: Re: Torchwood : thor July 11, 2009, 01:40:03 PM I just found out about the death of Ianto and I have to say that I am glad that you guys got to see it first to give me fair warning. I almost pre-ordered the 3rd series and now I am glad I didn't because of this news. Now it is official for me like the creators of Stargate the creators of Torchwood have now ruined another great series that I really enjoyed. Out of all the characters on the show my most favorites (especially Ianto) were killed off and my very least favorite (Gwen) was left standing and even got a happy ending. I hate creators when they think they have to kill characters off to make a show more exciting.
How am I ever going to enjoy my series 1 of Torchwood now knowing the end of Ianto happens in series 3 >:() >:() >:() :'( :'( :'( >:() >:() >:() >:() Another show bites the dust for me but I did manage to save $74.00 since I can't see myself buying series 2 or series 3 anytime soon thanks to this rubbish. >:() :'( : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 11, 2009, 02:16:49 PM I know three characters down. I've already written a story bringing tosh and owen back now I've got to do it with ianto. Still it makes me feel better.
: Re: Torchwood : thor July 11, 2009, 02:53:04 PM I am going to continue to read fanfiction with Ianto/Jack (to help me feel better) but I am definitely done with the series with this ending.
If there is a series 4 the only way I would watch it would be if they brought Ianto back and I don't see that happening at all. I will not watch a show with Jack (if he comes back) and Gwen along with a new cast alone because to me the show was Jack and Ianto since I lost Owen and Tosh the season before. I have always thought Gwen was the worst character on TW and she ends up with the happy ending >:() >:() >:() Good bye Ianto, Tosh and Owen...You were the best things about Torchwood and now there is nothing. : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 11, 2009, 03:19:50 PM Here's my story where T & O get ressurected http://www.fanfiction.net/secure/story/story_preview.php?storyid=4321265&chapter=1 . I'm currently working on bringing Ianto back.
My continuation after Children of Earth http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5208245/1/Starting_Again : Re: Torchwood : thor July 12, 2009, 02:36:25 AM Fanfiction.net won't let me into the first one but it will let me into the second one which I will read when I come back from Donkin Donuts, thanks. I am going to need a lot of fix up stories for series three to get over Ianto's death and yours will be the first I read ;)
I am still mad at RTD and the writers of Torchwood for this ending. I feel like they didn't want Jack to have a happy ending so the Ianto fans had to be punished for it. >:() >:() >:() : Re: Torchwood : Morningangel-Iola July 12, 2009, 03:19:46 AM Jack can never have a happy ending because he always out lives his loves. Hang on I think I may have given you my link rather than the public link. You can however get to all my stories by clicking on my name and going to my profile.
This is the first story again http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4321265/1/Those_We_Have_Lost : Re: Torchwood : thor July 18, 2009, 12:32:39 PM I am reading your story on Ianto's return and it is neat so far and I will wait and see were you go with it and how the situation is solved with the amnesia.
I am still upset that they killed the last best thing about Torchwood for me and now I have nothing left to look forward to if TW ever returns. I won't watch it if it is Jack, Gwen and whoever else they replace characters I actually liked in it, so again as far as I am concerned the show ended for me at series 2. |
