I just wanted to give a heads up to Shackers that in 24 hours or so (assuming the mystery bags and exclusives are for sale tonight) I will begin posting San Diego Comic Con exclusives in my ebay store.

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1738318&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fstores.ebay.com%2FWrennegade-Non-Sports

The store is 100% empty now, but starting LATE tonight, or tomorrow morning, I will begin posting exclusives from Artbox, Inkworks, Gentle Giant, and other companies so be sure to check it out. ALL YakShackers get 50% off Shipping. I will not list an item until it is in my hands and guaranteed. I will be sure to include some goodies with every purchase like Promos and con swag. BE SURE that if you make a purchase, you send me a messege through the EBAY system right after you purchase so I can apply half shipping and know to throw the goodies into your bubble mailer/box.

It's no big deal applying for a paypal account.  Check it out at http://www.paypal.com.  All you need is a checking account or a credit card.  Most overseas dealers insist on paypal because the cost of currency exchange is so high.  I had a dealer tell me about that before I opened an account.

Thanks for the heads up Bryan and good luck at elbowing your way through to get the goodies! LOL  :P

Yep, I can confirm Bryan accepts Paypal and Terry's right, you'd need to set yourself up with a Paypal account and off you go!
Honestly, it isn't hard to get one up and running and before you know it you'll be buying Potter stuff from ALL over the world!  ;)

Ebay page has been updated to show a couple exclusives. Here are the ones I know of so far...

Christian Coulston Autograph (Less than 200)
Tom Felton Autograph (Less than 100)
HP3-D 2 Black/White Con Binder
4 Card Costume set #'d /550 (Harry, Ron, Harry, Harry) Really cool set
Death Eater 3-Card Mask Prop set /150
Harry Potter SDCC Coin Set

I will have the 4 card costume sets and the two exclusive autos put up every day late in the day. Be sure to check it out. Sorry for the horrid photos, but it is the best I can do, i forgot my camera cable so I have to make due with iPhone photos.

Thank you for clarifying for me everyone. Paypal IS the only form of payment I am accepting, but I have NO problem shipping anywhere in the world...except Antartica. Sorry if you live there, I refuse to send to you  >:D

Is Artbox selling the crystal set that was going to be a web exclusive? Also, what are the contents of the goodie bag this year, please?

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: sfmuggle July 24, 2008, 03:51:51 PM
Each goodie backpack (from what I can tell) contains:

the 4 card costume set # to 550 (SD08 C1-4)
either the Coulston or Felton auto (SDCC exclusive)
2 random insert cards (prop, costume, film cell) from earlier sets
2 binders
1 random set of cards (e.g., SS base set etc)

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: Bryanjs14 July 24, 2008, 07:50:41 PM
Close on the binder contents

the 4 card costume set # to 550 (SD08 C1-4)
the Coulston or Felton auto (SDCC exclusive) OR a random auto from previous sets
2 random insert cards (prop, costume, film cell) from earlier sets
2 binders (1 SDCC exclusive, 1 random from other set)
1 random tin
1 random set of cards (e.g., SS base set etc) OR 1 retail box OR 1 hobby box

The crystal set is going on sale today, and the only way to get it was to be in a random drawing. I am in it and hopefully I get lucky. There are 150 sets, and they did not specify if they were doing them all today or not....I am also not sure if it is the one that was supposed to be online. I will ask about that today.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives

well that is the point of the mystery, nothing is guaranteed!

I got a OOTP Update Hobby box today and hit a Daily Prophet, Hermione Sweater, and Filmcard so that was a nice bonus. I agree it isn't a good trade off, but it makes it that much better when you do get one in your bag on top of the costume set, and the auto/costume/prop/fimcards.

: grecopa July 25, 2008, 09:48:29 AM
Hey Brian, if you got any of the Galactica swag from the Sci-fi booth I'll buy it.  Little silver spaceships, tattoos, whatever.

I was watching SDCC coverage on G4 today, but I didn't see you.  I guess you were standing in line at the Artbox booth.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: kbmum July 25, 2008, 07:45:51 PM
This is new.  There are printing plates for some of the cards.  Bryan, are these being sold separately or randomly packed in the backpacks?

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: Bryanjs14 July 25, 2008, 07:48:46 PM
Actually I was on it at the very begining! My mom called me freaking out lol.

I have walked past the SciFi booth a couple times and all they are ever handing out are little 1" Eureka pins. HOWEVER. They randomly hand out "Big Fracking Bag" bags and I will do my best to get you one, I was going to try to anyway and suprise you but oh well lol. I will do my best, I want one for myself too and I have walked by and they are never handing them out, it is always random when they do. Well, off the pick up my artbox bag and then sit on my butt in Hall H all day. Cannot wait

Who Watches the Watchmen?

The plates are sold seperately. However, they are $199.99 and yesterday they sold almost none. I was going to buy one, but when I walked by the booth two hours after they went on sale and they still had about 50 left for the day I rethought that. If you REALLY want a set PM me and we can work something out.

I realized a little late that it wasn't fair to Bryan to post links to other people's auctions in his thread, so the links have been moved to new thread in Diagon Alley.  Sorry, Bryan!

Do you think the plates are overpriced?  I'm not sure how much that sort of thing should cost, although I've been told that another manufacturer had one plate (not all four) from a set packaged with the card for around $15.  Maybe Artbox should be charging $100 for these sets?

Actually I was on it at the very begining! My mom called me freaking out lol.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: Bryanjs14 July 26, 2008, 08:05:10 PM
no problem about posting the links, I do not care lol.

I think they are terribly overpriced, and I would love to see them in packs, not at SDCC. $200 for printing plates is a lot. They have plenty left, so I think that means a lot of other people agree with me.

I have seen lots of Rons, Hermiones, and Harrys pulled from the mystery bags but I have not had the good luck yet...no felton exclusive either but hopefully with the two bags I get today that luck will change.

Kelly, I have STILL not been able to get you a big fracking bag and I have gone by numerous times and they tell me to just keep trying.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives

I hate that they put the Rons Harry's and Hermione's in there. Are they from the new set? I need to get my Harry redeemed yet. I just think it would be nicer for everyone to have a better chance to pull one of those cards from their boxes instead.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: allender July 27, 2008, 02:05:13 AM
From what I read from reports and auctions, the printing plates are all numbered "001/001" but there are 247 different versions, one for each card in the OOTP and OOTPU sets. I'm not sure exactly how that's counted. Supposedly there are eight cards per set, four each for the card front and back, in cyan-magenta-yellow-black.

There are OOTP crystal card sets that were exclusive to SDCC, each apparently # to 50. I've seen listings for:

- 2-card set, Harry and Ron, with light-up base
- 2-card set, Harry and Voldemort, with light-up base
- Single card, Harry, with light-up base

Anybody with first-in-hand knowledge, please correct me!

Note that some auction sellers are promoting items from the goodie bags as "SDCC Exclusives" while they are actually just leftover autos, etc. from previous series. Also, a set of four Hogwarts ties seems to be the same as the one that was 'exclusive' to the 2006 SDCC, same thing for the four oversized Death Eater costume cards from SDCC 2007.

Artbox also has exclusive SDCC08 autograph and costume cards for 24 Season 5, one pair each for Maropis and Itzin.

: allender July 27, 2008, 08:20:42 PM
Hey, I did say please correct me if I'm wrong.  ;)  Some of the speculation is based on auction descriptions, which aren't always correct!

The "single-card Harry crystal" auction has a picture that looks a lot like the yellow Harry case-topper, but it says it comes with a light-up base and was limited to 50. The seller is usually pretty sharp, and was careful in other auctions to say that cards from earlier releases were found in goody bags. I don't see any hints of confused descriptions in the other auctions. But it didn't give a #/50 on this one, like the seller did with the Harry/Voldemort pair. I've bought SDCC-exclusive cards from this seller in previous years, and they've been described accurately.

My working theory: The card is the same as the OOTP case-topper, but Artbox combined 50 of them with the light-up base to make a con-exclusive "package." It might also explain why the yellow Harry seemed to be the scarcer than the other five original crystals -- they may have held back some of these alone for San Diego.

The two-crystal set featuring "Harry and Ron" and the light-up base #/50 (a different seller) didn't have a picture in the auction. I'd think it would be difficult to mistake Lord Voldemort for young Weasley, but maybe it happened.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: rns91294 July 27, 2008, 08:25:39 PM
I have seen the auctions with the set of two, but not the single card. So yes, both do seem to exist.

And what is this about the tie set and deatheater set? Are they showing up in goodie bags? I am confused.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: kbmum July 27, 2008, 08:30:43 PM
There are tie and Death Eater sets from previous Comic-Cons and there is also a new Death Eater mask set from this year's Con.  None of these sets were inserted in the goodie bags.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: allender July 27, 2008, 08:43:38 PM
Okay, I see it now for the new oversized death-eater set.

The outside of the box looks identical, but  I now see photos of the inside. The earlier plaque said "Exclusive Death Eater Costume Card Set xxx/100" and the new one's inner plaque says "Exclusive Death Eater Prop Card Set xxx/100."

The older costume cards were numbered DE1-DE2-DE3, but I don't see any information about what's on  the backs of the three this time.

Thanks for the tip!

I hate that they put the Rons Harry's and Hermione's in there. Are they from the new set?

Autos from the trio are from the OOTPU set.  It's interesting that the Draco auto that's exclusive to the show is from Half-Blood Prince.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/dracohbpauto.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/hpPreview.jpg)

As for card sets after the last movie is released...Artbox is going to get everything it can from the license for as long as it can.  You can bet there will be more Memorable Moments, 3D, and other retrospective sets.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives

Wow didnt think it would go on and on, do you think it`ll be a permanent thing for the forseeable future years and many years ahead, i think if it is i`ll just have to pick certain sets to go for?

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives
: Tower July 28, 2008, 05:25:37 PM
Sue, yes i think so, we'll see many new sets the next years.  :P

Back to the Crystal sets:

I think, we have 2 variations of the Crystal Cards. The blue/purple cards and the yellow/gold cards. There's not a third colour in my opinion (at first i thought the blue ones are new, but referring to one auction blue is the same as purple). But who knows?  ::) Can there be a different blue colour?

Let's take a look at the picture on the official artbox website:

So we have 6 different crystal cards, on this picture all in a blue/purple colour. Lets call them number 1-6 from the left two the right.

I never saw number one anywhere yet. No. 2,3 and 6 were case toppers in both colours. And now they've put some of these case toppers in the grab bags, these cards are selling separately on ebay.

Number 4 and 5 (and maybe no. 1 too) were sold in crystal card sets, limited to 50. The new cards are always combined with old case toppers. The only colour i was able to recognise from the auctions yet is a current yellow set no. 23/50 with card no. 4 (Ron).

8 sets appeared on ebay yet, 6 with Harry and Voldemort (number 10, 16, 19, 34, 36, 43) and 2 with Harry and Ron (number 22 and 23).

What does that all mean?  ???

I think, all the 6 different cards exist in both colours, the 3 new ones too. Yes, they must have produced all 6 in both colours.

We can see Ron in yellow, maybe one of the new Harry cards in the sets was blue/purple.

If they want to put all the 3 new crystal cards only in the 50 sets and maybe with both colours, then there would exist less than 10 of each card. I'm absolutely sure, there are much more. They wouldn't produce more than 100 of the first 3 ones and now only 10 of each (or 20, if there is only one colour of the new ones, but i don't think so).

So will we see the news crystal cards later again, maybe as new case toppers? Or anywhere else? Or are there 50 sets of each combination and not 50 sets altogether? But i don't think so.

So many questions ...  ???  :-\  :P

Unless Warner Bros. pulls the license, Artbox will keep producing cards.  The other manufacturers do the same thing.  Just look at Rittenhouse with Star Trek (35 sets, large and small) and Inkworks with Buffy (18 sets).

For anyone starting now who doesn't have access to a fortune, it's probably a good idea to either focus on a few sets (knowing that the older the set, the more difficult and expensive it will be to pick up the cards), or select some cards from each set that appeal most to you.  Some people may prefer autos or props, for instance.  With new releases, another way is to not buy any boxes, set a budget, then buy as many cards as possible within that budget.

I agree! Once I saw that there were going to be a ton of sets, I scaled back a LOT.  I've got a couple of props I like, some costume cards I like, an auto from each character I like (except for the big 3 because unless I pull it, I can't afford to buy one) and assorted other cards.  My favorites are the motion case cards.

: Re: Harry Potter Artbox SDCC Exclusives

There are THREE 2-card sets, each set numbered to 50. So it is possible to make a 6 card set.

There are no color variations, they are all clear, however the light up base has 4 different colors that shine through the clear cards

Thanks, Bryan!  It's nice to get info from someone who's seen the cards up close. :)

I've scaled back on my collecting, too.  I've been weeding through my cards, keeping my favorites and selling the rest.  Cards aren't selling too well at the moment, but hopefully, things will pick up in the fall.

Oh, thanks for the info, Bryan. So we have the known case toppers in yellow and purple and the 6 new clear cards, right? And we have 150 sets altogether. Very interesting. :)

Technically, there are only 50 sets total. The entire set includes all 6 cards, and since there are only 5 sets of each of the two cards there are only 50 sets available

Does anyone know what Artbox charged for the boxed HBP preview set?

I bought one from a dealer for $30.00, shipping included. So, I'll bet the show price was around $20.00, assuming my seller isn't taking a loss.
I got it for $30.00 because I bought sets 2 and 3 of the Crystal Cards.

If I remember right they were $15. I have 3 left over that are going onto Ebay.

Now I am in the recovering from Comic Con phase where I spent an entire day listing stuff on ebay and trying to make some of my $ back. Be sure to check out my ebay store as there will be lots of Potter cards going up including a Grint Auto, a very nice GOFU Hermione Book variant, OOTP/OOTPU Mask Prop Cards and tons of other goodies.

Back to the SDCC crystal card sets. Some of the photos in auctions really make the crystals look yellow or blue, but everybody who has handled them "in person" says they are clear.

I note that some of the case-toppers from OOTPU seemed to be totally clear, too. I had to hold mine so that I was looking at it directly edge-on before I could detect a tint.

Brianjs14 confirms that there are 3 pairs, each numbered to 50, from the Artbox set-of-six. That's 150 boxed pairs, or 300 crystal cards. Numbering left to right from the image Tower posted at the top of page 3, they are:

#5 Harry pointing wand + #3 Voldemort
#2 Harry with crossed arms + #4 Ron
#1 Harry portrait + #6 Hermione

Of the 24, here are the numbers observed so far:

#5 + #3 -- 04 - 10 - 13 - 16 - 19 - 34 - 35 - 36 - 43
#2 + #4 -- 09 - 22 - 23 - 28 - 33 - 37 - 44 - 45 - 47 - 48
#1 + #6 -- 13 - 20 - 24 - 38 - 45

The Harry+Hermione has shown up less than the other two pairs, but we expect this totally an artifact of the sets being distributed in different days' raffles. (Reports say the same number were raffled off each day.)   It wouldn't be the first time that some numbered Artbox items were held back for future offers or goody bags, but apparently not so this time.

One auction featured a single Harry crystal card, and said it was distributed at SDCC in a series of 50 with a lighted base. Though the seller is reputable, nobody else knows about it, and it appears that the auction description and title were a mistake or there was some "break room reshuffling" of items. Other auctions have mistakenly identified goody-bag pulls of extra items from previous series to be Con exclusives ... but now we know how Artbox deals with the fact that the sum of numbered-to totals for props and costumes in every series are always are 20-30% above the number expected in packs.

Allender,
Ok, let me clear this up.

All 6 cards offered as exclusives at comic con are clear. I saw them, touched them, held them. All 6 are clear. There are a TOTAL of 300 crystal cards offered at Comic Con. 50 of each of the 6 cards, and each card came in a two card set. Hope that clears things up. The only reason one might seem more short printed is because you could not just walk up and buy a set, you put your name into a raffle and the next day 50 winners were drawn. It is more than likely the case that on Sunday (the final day when the Hermione/Harry was offered) a lot of people that won were not even there, so not a lot of that set got sold. That is my only guess.

Now back to my trade thread.
I have posted what Potter cards I picked up in the Goody bags and boxes at Comic Con on Ebay now. There are still lots of other cards going up throughout the day...Star Wars LOTR Iron man ect ect but I got the potter up. The only card NOT up yet is the Hermione GOFU P10 Prop Card but here is a scan for everyone to see. Is the gold lettering a normal occurrence?

Hermione's Book will start at 9:00PM Eastern tonight and run 5 days with no reserve. Also, the line going through the card is just the penny sleeve reflecting from the scanner. I will prob rescan it and try to get rid of that before it goes up for auction.

Allender,
Ok, let me clear this up.
Thanks!!  I was quite confused by the way the descriptions have been going. I see now that your "technically there are only 50 sets" applied to six, so there are three sets, each numbered to 50, for 150 "pairs".

I don't mind appearing confused when I am indeed.  ;)

I put in the words about "all clear" because some people, including those in other forums, have commented on the tints that have shown up in auction photos. Those are all artifacts of the lighting. Though I have to admit that my own case-topper from OOPU seemed to be completely clear until I looked at it directly edge-on and could only then assign a tint.
