: Looking for Hobby box - uk
: Morningangel-Iola July 23, 2007, 03:18:33 AM
I know I have left it rather late, but I was trying to hold back. But once I saw the film I really wanted a box. I'm probably not going to be about again until the weekend as I have got a friend coming so don't think I have run away.

Thanks for your help.

Try the collectorzone.com.  The last time I checked their website which was Friday they still had boxes available for OOP.

Another option would be Gimli - chrischidgey@hotmail.com or his website chidgey's collectables . Chris has pulled some amazing cards and I'm sure there's more to come. Richard Wheat may also have some boxes knocking about.

:( Collector Zone tends to be rather pricey. I know I should have spoken sooner.

Have you tried Richard?

Where do I locate him?

Well on Ebay his user id is card_vault (the same as on here).  He doesn't have any OotP stuff for sale at the moment but it might be worth sending him a pm and checking to see if he is getting anything.  The other alternative is the US - I know the postage is a lot but the exchange rate is brilliant at the moment.

I don't think Richard took any of this product and that is the same for most UK dealers the only others I know took some was Rich with Cards

Trouble is could well be hit with import tax :(

Wouldn't a card dealer be hit with import taxes, too?  It seems to be six of one, half a dozen of the other -- you pay the tax yourself or you pay for it through a dealer's higher box price.  Either way, wouldn't you still be paying the tax?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that here Cindy  :(.  The Import Duty is now almost secondary to the amount Royal Mail charge to collect the money.  Import duty on a box of cards would be something around £4 - £5.  On top of this you then pay around £10 to the Royal Mail for doing absolutely nothing  >:() >:() >:().  A dealer would probably be using a courier firm who has different charges, plus as they import in bulk the tax is higher but the extra charges are pretty much the say, meaning the cost can be spread.  Small imports that risk duty are just not worth it any more  >:() >:() >:().  But as an idiot I still do it  ::)

Dawn if your just after one box, you shouldnt get charged import tax on it. I bought 2 boxes from digitalheroes and didn't get charged anything!

You're right Martyn but it does depend what is written on the box.  If the seller does declare say £25 and Dawn is unlucky then she will get charged.  Boggy got done for import duty on one box of cards about a month ago whilst I managed to avoid duty on a case of 3d  :o=

I bought 2 boxes of 3D from Potomac, and got charged £45 duty on them from TNT

Thats a bit steep £45!

Anyway good luck Dawn, hope you get your boxes sometime.  :o=

Potter did you mean two cases?

No.It was to hobby boxes, I was quite shocked when I got the invoice from TNT. God knows how much they will charge me in a few weeks for the case of OOTP that was declared at $519.

the amount of tax and charges and duties the uk imposes on people is absurd. >:() >:()
it really does **** me off.  what a rip off >:()

that's one good thing about the isle of man. :)  it is no where near as bad.  i have bought boxes and cases from the usa with not a penny spent on import duty or tax.  its a real saving.

maybe i should set up over there and offer the uk guys and gals better prices.??
