we all like pie (at least, I think most of us do). But, whats a pie without a filling? well its just some cooked pastry that tastes rubbish.

How about nana's steamed treacle sponge pudding and custard?  ;)
I know it's not a pie filling but a dessert in it's own right ... you're more of a vanilla-ice-cream-and-chocolate-sauce kinda guy than one for pies!  8) ;)

I also like Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream - YUM!!  ;D

I don't like pie's either.  Or to be more accurate I don't like pastry.  At Christmas if I have a mince pie I eat the inside and throw away the pastry, very naughty I know.

How about nana's steamed treacle sponge pudding and custard

That's Boggy's favourite but without the custard and with lashings of extra syrup.  I much prefer a jam steamed pudding  :P

Ooooooo extra syrup ... mmmmm ... my teeth are aching at the thought of all that sticky sweetness!  ::) 8)
Mince pies with a generous dollop of thick brandy cream on the top ... yummmmm ... even the cat has sussed out when we're having them cos she knows the sound of the container being opened and of course the smell of the cream!  ;) ;D

: jediknight June 07, 2007, 01:21:36 AM
yes, especially when dad smears some cream all over the cats face, and her tongue is too short to reach her nose where the cream usually is, and sits there for aaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeessssssss trying to lickthe cream off...

if it were a dog it would have gone in one lick... :P :P :P

No Snake and Pygmy ... I mean Steak and Kidney? Mind you, I don't like kidney so I wouldn't opt for that!  ::)
Ooooooo Steak and Ale sounds more like it for me for the savoury filling please!!  ;D

It's pecan pie for me! :D  There's a restaurant in Disney World that used to make apple pie with a creamy brandy sauce.  It was truly excellent, so of course they don't make it anymore. :-\

: Bitsy June 09, 2007, 01:38:46 AM

Ok, now I absolutely have to try some cherry pie now! Vanilla ice cream with apple pie is so, so good!

Definately pecan pie with a side of vanilla ice cream.  Actually, ice cream goes well with most pies I think!  Second would be Cherry.

: Re: Pie fillings
: jediknight June 11, 2007, 10:46:18 PM
yes, ice-cream or just cream

I've had rhubarb/strawberry pie and that was good.  Isn't rhubarb by itself kind of bitter?

: Re: Pie fillings
: Nienna June 13, 2007, 01:56:23 PM
I'd describe rhubarb as tasting 'tart' rather than bitter Kelly ... the sort of sharp sourness you get with lemons and limes.  ;)
How's about Summer Pudding - Sharon will probably like it cos there's no pastry!  ::) ;D ;)
