What is the best & or most expensive card you have ever pulled - HP, LOTR, Sports, Star Wars- any kind?

And if you are able post a picture!

Hopefully all that will change when HP PoA update comes out! I shall be telling Mark he can't open any boxes and that he is restricted to tea making duties  ;)

Well I pulled an Eowyn coronation dress... but that's not so valuable... I didn't get in with boxes with LOTR

I don't know how many boxes of Trilogy I will get, the auto line up will have to perk up a bit

I prefer to refer to them as non-variant Permission Form prop cards. Blank just doesn't sound as good.

I think we all do! Ones with printing on seem a lot cooler and tend to be the "variant" ones.

What do the swatches look like? Have you got pics?

Sorry, about calling them blank ones :)  the non-variant ones are pretty cool as well.  My variant one is with part of the hogwarts crest and is pretty cool.  My best Harry potter pull (besides the hotbox, and not to mention my Peter Jackson update auto out of two boxes.....I hope my luck is not running out) was a Hermione autograph in the same pack as a Hermione pink sweater card.  I was pretty stoked about that.

I hope to have some good stories to post here when I start on the update set, I have only bought one or two boxes before and that's really not the way to do it (unless you have Zach's PJ luck that is!)

I bought four boxes of Fleer Star Trek Original Series 3 trading cards and out of those four boxes pulled two Deforest Kelley Auto cards  :o

This was good but was mere probability. Out of all the boxes I've bought over the years I normally end up pulling the worst autos and costumes going. Anyone need a figwit!

 8) Hello, everyone. I am a new member, maybe even # 101! What do you say, Roz...have you got "a party ready" for my arrival? LOL. I am a friend of morenomark, we work at the same place. Well, this past June I went to New England (sorry, couldn't afford to fly over the pond & visit your land). While on vacation, I bought a box when they weren't so cheap, but definitely not $200! Anyway, I called morenomark & told him I located a box for $130, and we decided to "split" the box. When I got back to California, I took the box to work & opened it with morenomark. We both got 12 packs, and I let him choose which side he wanted. He picked the left 12 packs & got a few foil cards. My packs were a little more "loaded"...I got 1) Ginny Weasley Autograph, 2) George Weasley Costume Card & 3) the Zonko's Bag Prop Card. I felt real guilty for pulling all these, but did keep them all the same. Does that count as an answer to the question asked? Bye y'all,

 ;D I actually got a real cool Zonko's Bag! It has three colors...Although I don't really see that as making the card being worth more or less. My first purchase of the HP POA cards was a complete set + binder + Hobby foil + box-toppers for $50 (I picked it up from eBay seller while I was on vacation in New England - by the way, I keep saying New England because I travelled to my three sisters homes in three states - Rhode Island, Massachusetts & New Hampshire). No, perhaps it doesn't change the prop too much - it's still a piece of the bag but it looks a lot cooler ;)

You are more than welcome to put your site on here, what about putting it in the "Diagon Alley" section - perhaps your site advertises your spares for trade?

Anyway - we will keep on trying to bring you all the news on the update set etc... but one of the greatest times to be on here is when a new set hits, everyone is posting what they have pulled out of packs etc - have you seen the "online master set" - here?

   I actually got to see a master set, at the ArtBox table at the San Diego Comic Con in July. It was all I could do not to drool all over those beautiful cards  :-[ LOL ...

I think that the only things that are not allowed on this site (according to Roz) are:

2. Criticising Viggo Mortensen/Aragorn :o Or for that matter referring to LOTR as anything but the most brilliant movies EVER ;D
3. Being rude about Mak's comics ;)

Everything else is no holds barred I believe :) Well I have been taking it as so anyway ;D

Is the term in-line skates allowed? Because I live in Canada....skates to me means ice skates. I promise not to criticize Mak's comics...I cannot draw at all. Bad mouth VIg or LOTR anything..........should warrant a lifetime ban. I was reading some posts on NSU last night and one of the moderator's posted a reminder not to do something that had not been done yet. Get a Life.

She is only 9 years old, but has a track record of finding awesome cards in packs I have bought  :D I am thinking around $1.00 to $1.25 per pack, but don't want to "short-change" her of what is duly deserved.    So, do I have to pay her for cards in the past? :'( It would take quite awhile to get that much money saved up, so I hope the answer is NO! By the way, we received a box of Hellboy today, and she pulled 2 of the toughest cards to get: Hellboy Autograph  ;D (Ron Perlman himself) & Pieceworks # 1  ;D (Ron Perlman's leather jacket). So, right there I owe her $4.00 already. I think I should prevent her from opening any more packs. I could easily go broke :-[

now the way to stay ahead of the game with your 9 year old wants to buy lunch from school that is the money she can use and then another way is ask if there is anything they would like to save up for and get a tin and put the money in . And you only start adding the money together from todat on.

  that is a load off of my mind. Start with today. Should I pay her as she pulls the cards, weekly, etc? She hardly asks for money, as she is content with what she has. But, I think we have gone on long enough about my daughter! Let's talk about my son. Just kidding ;D LOL (Although, I do have an 8-year-old boy - he likes cards well enough, just not to the point of lunacy like my daughter & I).

   Not that I am counting, but there are 81 days left before Potomac ships me my case of POA Update cards. And I don't even have any fingernails left to bite off. Damn all this extra weight I have on, preventing me from biting my toe-nails (JUST KIDDING - LOL).

My kids collect cards to and have every harry potter card that came before Poa and they are happy to settle for a base set each but only the 9 year old and the 12 year old ( sam has sent him a set but still waiting for it to arrive )
And i am waiting for my update box as it will be the first poa box i get to open. ;D ;D ;D

    Hey Ferdinand...the three types is a joke my best friend & I have shared going back 20 years - 1 boy, 1 girl & 1 undefined (it is meant only as a joke). We in America have a warped sense of humour. Although, I admit to sometimes not getting jokes from across the ponds (I am now including Australia as a pond-jump away)!

I was in LA last year and asked where the bathroom was at a diner (I love those places :D we don't have them here in Aus) and got a blank stare. Realised my mistake and asked for the restroom :)

Are you serious, Bathroom is a common term (in fact I would say most people say bathroom).  Did the person speak English?  
Now if you would have said WC or Watercloset or Lou (sp) then I could understand the confusion.  But bathroom - that person probably didn't speak English, after all you were in California, were English is like the 2nd or 3rd language.

   beckham1 is right about the language thing here in California. Did the person understand when you asked to use the restroom? You may have been what I like calling "duped"! The person may just have been intrigued by the dialect of your English, and wanted to hear you speak more of it. I know I personally like to here accents that are foreign to me. Good conversation piece if you ask me. Do you think Americans have the foreign sounding accent?  8)

Oh and another thing, Ferdinand, I live in Southern California, and I will intentionally do my best to keep out of LA. I here there are nice "parts" of the city, but I like to stick to the "low country".

Frd, I was only in the US for a week, and spent all of my time in LA. It was fun and a great experience, but lets just say that I prefer Sydney to LA any day! I am not generalising that all of California and certainly not all the States is like that as whenever I tell American people that I went there I get an immediate response of 'Please don't think all of the US is like that!!!' ;D

Yes, you certainly have the accent thing going! 8) Some more preferable to others - no offence, but some are very annoying and some are totally and utterly charming. I hope I am not insulting anyone, but I offer this - we may have in Oz the most annoying accent in the world - that of those people that speak like Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter LOL ;D

   Ferdinand - I must admit there are lots of accents in the U.S., most being determined by the region the person lives in (New York accents as heard in movies such as the Godfather, Southern accents as heard in Western-type movies & no accent as heard in California-located movies). I have to admit that I do not believe I have an accent, but you may say other-wise. As for Steve Irwin, I don't believe all Americans are as dense to believe "he" speaks for all of Oz  ;D
   Mcgonagall - if you want to talk about "lollies", Americans have more than their share of sweets  ??? Just look at all the reports, Americans are getting heavier every year.  >:(
   

By the way -
   When asked "What is the best or most expensive card you have ever pulled?", is this referring only to the HP series, or all cards in general? If it includes all cards, then I have a doozy for you all! When I was stationed in Europe back in 1990 to 1997, I bought a case of cards for the Upper Deck SP Football inaugural set back in 1995, I pulled 2 Joe Montana autographs in consecutive packs (they were supposed to be inserted at a rate of 1 in "think" 435 packs). I opened 3 boxes & sold the rest a trade shows. I traded both of the Montana Autographs for a leg & an arm (1 for the leg & 1 for the arm  ;D LOL)Shortly after, I gave up trading Sports cards to dedicate myself to my true calling "Non-Sports"  ;D

Oh, Joe Montana - that was a heart attack pull back then (I am a self proclaimed sports card junkie).   Auto cards were few and far between back then, that must have booked for like $1000 or so.  

Now you could pick up a Montana auto for like $40 I think!

That would be like pulling a Gretzky back in the day!
My first ever memorabilia card was a Mario Lemiuex jersey emblem that booked for $800 at the time (I still have it) and was 1:3000 packs ($25) box.  That is what got me hooked and half of my house value later I have  a room full of cards!

I wish I could get rid of the ones I don't want to keep faster than I can buy them, but no time.

Don't know if anyone has seen the card set yet but upper deck released a product called US History (I know no one outside the US would care) it features rare cut signatures (like signatures on a letter ((of dead people only)) cut and pasted on a card).

Many of them are presidents and famous history figures.   I haven't been able to find the final list but if I can remember I think there were going to be 1 "cut signature" of 28 different people like Albert Enstien, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, etc.

Those cards would probably get at least $10,000 each on ebay (at least).
that would be a nice card (I did order one box last week) keeping my fingers crossed may never post again move to hawaii retire...........what $10,000 of LOTR boxes and HP POA and Star Wars Heritage.... sounds like a better idea!
