My only card from my lone box:

Gryffindor Tie #377/425

I'm kind of glad I only got the one box.  Most of the scans that I've seen were more of the same old thing.  Bring on OOTP!

The incentives are on eBay, if anyone wants to take a look. :)  I'm sure we'll have more posts today with scans of those cards.

I was really surprised that the Sirius costume is taupe.  It looks gray on-screen.  Must be the lighting.

I love the style of the double auto cards.  And congratulations Cindy on number 1  ;D.  But I think there must have been some mix up with the packing of these cards - Jeff has got the exact Gryffindor card I want  ;).  The two stripes is my perfect card, although it does show how much smaller the swatch is than on other sets.

Oh yes there is   ;D.  I was just looking at them in Tom's shop (they don't show on the main Ebay list).  Very expensive and IMO not all that special, well not for a Daily Prophet.

Edith you might want to check with Kelly if you will get the cards pictured in the auction :o=. I saw the set and thought it was a fantastic set of incentives when Tom listed it here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140130411845).

I love the dragon sack and the divination card with the tea cup.  You amaze me.  You know how to sniff out varients.  I'm jealous.  Is the Sirius card a varient too?  I haven't seen one with that dark a material before

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: sweinar2005 June 19, 2007, 10:33:10 AM
I was going for the Dragon Selection Sac but I think the photo the seller posted is not the actual cards. Tom Breyer has an exact photo on one of his auctions that was BINed - so I don't think i really got the actual cards that are in the photo. I'm waiting for a response from the seller.

Although i did miss a C1 variant with the red and gold stripe by 1 minute.  >:()Someone beat me to it. I think it was the same bidder that bought the incentive set pictured being sold by t. breyer.

I also binned this one earlier

I not aware of any Ci1 variants so I would guess no on the Sirius Card

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 19, 2007, 05:50:34 PM
I've seen only one Sirius variant, a two-color swatch that's in a private collection.  With the number of two-color Karkaroff costumes, I'm shocked that there aren't more for the Sirius card.

Beautiful swatch for the M. Map above definitely envious of that one  :o, I got an actual scan of my incentive set  which you can see on  my original post above. the Dragon Selection sac is better than what was pictured in the auction but the daily prophet no so great. Still waiting on six boxes I bought, Don't know why I bought them I never have any luck getting good pulls like the one above :'(

You did luck out on the dragon bag.  I know what you mean.  I've only had luck one time with individual boxes and that was a hot box.  I'm still waiting for the one box I ordered.  I swore I wasn't going to buy one, but when the cards starting showing up on ebay I couldn't help myself.  Will keep my eye out for varients on Sirius's card.  I have preordered my first case for the OOP set.  Got my fingers crossed on that one.  Let me know if you run across another dragon bag like that one.  I'm still waiting for the one I purchased from Tom Breyer.  Good hunting.

I have 2 of the Sirius case incentive cards. Do you see the brown collar on Sirius? It is a brown color. Anyway, one card has a swatch about this color and the other one is the gray color. AS soon as I get my scanner working I'll post them.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 19, 2007, 11:14:44 PM
Is the material the same on both cards?  The brown suede collar was on the linen jacket he wore over the prison uniform.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: terryweasley June 20, 2007, 03:24:57 AM
She has a point.  Maybe that explains I card I've seen up for bid that has a wavy look to it.  It may be from the coat Sirius wears over his prison uniform.  Will check it when I'm on my other computer.  I have it marked as a favorite.  I post it then for everyone to see.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 20, 2007, 03:31:28 AM
According to Christie's, which auctioned one of the overcoats a few months ago, it was made of linen.  The swatch in my card is a bit wavy and the fabric definitely isn't linen.  It has to be from the uniform.  I'll see if I can post a scan of the two-color swatch for comparison.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: rns91294 June 20, 2007, 06:10:48 AM
John, you said you have one of each, right?  Is the lighter one definitely gray, or a lighter brown?  I have a lighter one, and it does look gray, but if I look under good light, it really could be a light taupe. It's hard to tell.

And since there is a two color swatch out there, I would think it would have to be from a striped material.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 20, 2007, 07:20:41 AM
Here's the two-color swatch.

Unfortunately nothing to get excited about.

Here are some of the cards I purchased.  They are a little more interesting.

I think the Sirius card contains material from the collar of his coat.  It has a definite bownish tint to it.

It can't be from the collar of the coat.  The Christie's website is down for maintenance, but the description of the catalog item said that the coat was linen and the collar was suede.  My card has the darker swatch with some stitching, and I was surprised that it is brown-grayish when the uniform appears very gray on camera.  It has to be the movie lighting that made it appear so.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: grecopa June 24, 2007, 03:28:52 AM
Great looking pulls everyone.  I can see where all the varients went from the Dragon bag prop.  It's good that they have different style swatches since the actual props didn't change.  Bristles from the broom instead of the handle, stitching and cord from the bag, etc.
I just got my base set from Gryffindor Forever today.  THANKS!!  I'm really pleased with them overall.  My favorites are:
#10 Quidditch tip off
#24 Pixies
#38 Marauders map
Does it bother anyone that the scenes are out of order?  I keep wanting to take them out of numerical order and fix them.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 24, 2007, 03:37:10 AM
Oooh, that's my biggest complaint about the set! >:(  I hate that the base cards aren't in order by scene.  Just last night, I rearranged them.  Now I can enjoy them instead of cringing every time I look through them.

To be honest the numbers are that poor and hard to see rearranging the cards is probably a good idea.

: Sharon June 25, 2007, 01:28:10 AM
Well I have opened my case and I thought the cards were OK - Boggy and my Dad loved them and Mum just kept getting excited that every card was a 'special'.  Yes you may have guessed that card opening in our house is now a family event

The one thing that I am finding very, very disappointing with the HP cards is the collation.  Yes Artbox have sorted the problem of dud boxes but they have created a new problem of 'set' cases.  By this I mean that there are certain cases with certain cards ie I got the 'F' case - Flitwick, Fudge etc.  I did get everything I should have and I was happy with the cards I received but it is disappointing to know what you are going to pull in the whole case just by the first few autos.

Yes I could resist the temptation of reading the Shack and not look at the identified patterns but this would not solve the problem.  This (even more than money) is a reason I will never buy two cases of HP cards - I would not be willing to take the risk of getting two identical cases.  Surely Artbox could ensure no dud boxes but make them more random, other companies do.  Oh and I still think the one insert boxes are bang out of order.  As someone who was lucky enough to get a case it doesn't effect me but for the box buyer this stinks, particularly as it was a very common card in that box.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum June 25, 2007, 01:32:13 AM
I wouldn't say they've sorted out the dud box problem.  I know of someone who received a dud box with this set. :-\

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: Sharon June 25, 2007, 01:51:59 AM
That's awful  >:().  So they have just created a new problem without solving the old one  >:(

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: LikORish-Spider June 25, 2007, 05:36:23 AM
They could at least put two costume cards in the "dudd" boxes. That would be some consolation.

Not good. Don't buy from them again - see Jeff Allender's auto # thread.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: allender June 28, 2007, 07:02:21 AM
Actually, it doesn't look like there was anything wrong with the case. The props were one of the regular triples and it had a dual auto and a Voldemort. The only unusual thing was the number of duplicated costumes, but the average scarcity was decent, and it didn't have any of the four most common costumes at all: C3-C5-C12-C13. It's the only case break that didn't have at least one C3, C5, and C12. And the only other case that didn't have a C13 was Misty's, another P5-P7-P8 case.

It almost feels like one of the last cases, where the packagers were finding out which costumes were running low and which ones were plentiful. Maybe they were running short of C3's after putting two of them in so many cases. Then maybe the opening and reclosing happened at the factory when they tried to fiddle with a few of them to avoid having any cases with three of a costume number.

Now, now, lets not give Artbox too much credit for caring that much about the Potter card fans like us.  ;)

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: gimli June 29, 2007, 10:15:51 PM
what is quite interesting is in the last 10 days 9 Potion books have been sold on ebay separately there are currently 4 up for auction  2 more in prop set have been sold and there are 3 more prop sets currently up for auction. So in the last 10 days we can account for 18 of the 100 potion cards that are available I am sure Artbox will have kept quite a few. Almost a fifth of them already listed on ebay. I have another 3 and I bet there are a lot already in collections I think we will see listings for that card dry up quickly.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: allender June 30, 2007, 05:44:24 PM
Almost a fifth of them already listed on ebay. I have another 3 and I bet there are a lot already in collections I think we will see listings for that card dry up quickly.
Too true!  I haven't done a complete analysis of ebay because it's a hassle taking account of relistings and unsolds, but some of the cards are showing up sooner than others. The numbers of all of the props add up to 1600 but the number in packs should be 1200, so a full 25% are presumably still held by Artbox. We don't know if all of the 400 "extras" are concentrated in just a few of the props or they're spread out over the whole lot, and that can make a big difference in the market value if (say) 50 out of 100 are held out from packs versus 10 out of 100.

Here's an early warning for seekers-on-ebay ... I was just informed that three auctions I won (and paid) for cards from this series were cancelled because somebody appeared to have hijacked the seller's account. It was for a seller in the Far East who had a lot of 3D inserts listed, so I expect there will be a scramble of rebids that could distort the bidding for a while.

Is that the dealer whose account has been tampered with.  I got the same notice concerning a Karkaroff card I bid on.  I checked all the cards I had won or purchased using BIN  to see if I had the number, and couldn't find it.  I had a feeling I should stay away from the Far Eastern dealers.  I was concerned about the distance with mailing.  I'm really glad I did now.

Well, according to eBay, all of the seller's recent auctions had been cancelled because it looked like the account had been tampered with. But the seller himself has a 100% feedback rating. He has recent positives from people who had quickly received cards from WOHP, and even those auctions had been cancelled by eBay too, even after the merchandise had been delivered.

I haven't seen any more problems with Far Eastern sellers, or at least not in the card community. And the shipping charges were less than a European "with tracking" requirement.

Possibly everything is A-OK, but I posted the message because this seller had a lot of auctions listed, and people who don't check the auctions they're bidding on every few hours might not have noticed.

thanks Sharon.  i managed some good pulls on my cases of 3D.  ;D

Hope i manage the same on the OOTP.

Here is  a scan of the lockhart costume card swatch.  I was being curious to see how big the swatch was below the card, so i peeled the front off!

It's bigger than i thought and i'm sure if you could bring yourself to do it to any other card you might be surprised at what you see beneath.  But i can't!

You are one brave man to pull apart an insert, even if it is common! :o  I've always wondered what the whole swatch would look like, especially for props like the Daily Prophet, potions book, and trial paperwork.

I picked up a slightly variant Karkaroff costume.  It's sort of the mirror image of the one terryweasley has. :)

You are a brave one!  :o Good for you! I think it's great!   ;) :)

I have always wanted to do that as well--see if there's a variant somewhere under the card that I can't see!  :)

Love the Karkaroff costume card! Is it the same material as the Sirius costume card?

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum July 12, 2007, 09:12:39 AM
The Sirius and Karkaroff prison uniforms seem to have the same type of fabric.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum July 17, 2007, 05:42:06 AM
With a little help from someone while I was on vacation, I managed to snag a Sirius costume variant. :D  It doesn't show up as well in a scan as it does in person, but the swatch is dirty/stained on the left side and in the middle.  Now I need to find a two-color to go with this light-colored swatch and my dark colored-swatch.  Then, maybe, just maybe, I'll be done with this costume card. ;)

Thanks! :D  I wasn't entirely sure the swatch was dirty, since the seller told me in an email that he "guessed" it was some sort of stain.  I'm glad I took the chance! :)

there is also Bonnie Wright/Ginny Weasley 3D auto card in the SDCC tote bags.
i wonder how many of the cards were produced???

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: kbmum July 28, 2007, 06:49:09 PM
I'd like to know why they weren't in packs.   It's one thing if they were received too late to be included in the 3D set, but another if they were purposely held back for SDCC.

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: The Razzer July 29, 2007, 12:01:56 AM
if they had of been late back to artbox, they wold have used redemptions for the autos in the packs wouldn't they?? or maybe they did keep them back thinking there was enough auto cards for the 3d set already.

you never know with artbox ::)

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: Sharon July 29, 2007, 02:30:39 AM
What I don't quite understand is why Artbox are trying so hard to make the tote bags so good?  From the sounds of it they put so much stuff in they don't make a profit, the bags sell themselves anyway and it is not like most HP collectors would ever get their hands on one anyway.  If it is to keep dealers happy surely that is what incentives are for  :-\

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: Martyn July 29, 2007, 02:39:08 AM
By an eBay auction the Bonnie Wright/Ginny Weasley autograph is limited to 100!

Someone has one on eBay for $299.95 which IMO is a bit steep!

: Re: World of Harry Potter: 3D scans and comments
: Tower July 29, 2007, 02:45:57 AM
Everything above $100 is too crazy in my opinion. Not for a Ginny, not interesting, if rare or not ...  :P

I recently won a P5 Magical Me book and I can't figure out the swatch.  It's different than anything else I've seen.  Despite the appearance of different papers, it's actually one smooth piece.  Here are a couple of different angles, since Artbox does not necessarily insert swatches right side up.
