Only two days until this blockbuster opens!   8)   Let's use this thread to make our reports on what we liked or disliked about the movie.  Please also tell us if your showing was sold out or not.  In a first for us here in rural northern New Hampshire 3 movie theaters in three different towns are going to show Spiderman 3 including a one screen theater about 30 miles away!  This is interesting as this theater never got first run movies before and all are advising advance ticket purchases due to the expected popularity of the movie.

Anyone's movie theater having any special events for this film?

Nope, nothing special happening here, not even an early preview on Thursday.  Can the first person to see the film let me know if there is anything worth watching during/after the end credits - after sitting for nearly 15 minutes through reel after reel of names at the end of the second Matrix only to be rewarded with 20 seconds of Matrix 3, I don't want to be caught again  ;)

Oh and a little bit of gossip whilst we wait for the film to be released.  Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were on Jonathan Ross on Friday.  Kirsten was brilliant but poor old Toby obviously just doesn't get the whole 'British' thing.  In fact it was probably the most awkward interview I have seen since Christopher Lloyd promoted Back to the Future 3.  Catch it if you can, just for the cringe value  >:D

Kirsten seemed up for any mischief Jonathan wanted to get into.  Still think she was horribly mis-cast as MJ, though.
Poor old Tobey didn't know what to do when Jonathan started talking about sex.  I imagine it's not something he expected to talk about on a chat show.

We are all excited to see this!! We'll probably go Friday night or Saturday
afternoon (can't go Sat night...the "BIG FIGHT" is on HBO  ::) ). Nothing
special here where I live...small town!

Just saw the movie (it opened today in Germany).

First impression: Waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to long!!!

The whole Gwen Stacy stuff is so dispensable and needless. And some other scenes as well.
And why does Peter share the same hair stylist with Hitler?!?
MJ screemed a little too much... 

My personal highlights were JJJ and Bruce Campbell. And Venom and the whole symbiote thing was done very well. 1:1 from the comics.
And all the fight scenes were excellent!

But I'm not sure if I'll see it again... I'd rather wait for Pirates...  

Just came back from a not-so-early preview. Every showing after midnight was sold out. We had to wait about 2 hours to get in and IMHO wasn't worth it.

The reaction here wasn't as good as expected, some people even left after the first hour and most were just making fun of whatever was happening. Like the EMOwithEYELINER/GreenDay!Spidey :rofl:. And the JohnTravolta/MoulinRouge/Suave!PeterParker.

I really liked Venom and the CG was impressive at times but I guess my expectations were too high on this one.

I saw a matinee today.  The movie was okay.  The special effects were good and I really liked how they animated Sandman.  Like Galea noted, people in the theater were making fun of parts of the movie, especially the crying scene on the bridge in the park.

Sharon, there's nothing to watch after the credits.

Don't wait for Pirates - get it on a genuine DVD  :rofl: :rofl:
Anyway...Yep, the whole Gwen Stacey thing would have ment more if Peter had broken up with MJ and there was going to be a forth film. They couldn't have got a better actor or used better effects for Sandman if they tried  ;D

As for POTC:ATWE...the trailer was the most uninspiring i've seen in a long time.

My wife and I saw SP3 today at the first showing.  I guess my expectations were way too high as I felt the movie dragged on in spots and was really dumb in others.  The fight scenes were outstanding as was Sandman and Venom and Green Goblin.  The whole John Travolta thing was way too corny.  All I can say is this director (Sammy Boy) better not touch "The Hobbit"!  Overall rating - I give it a 5 out of 10.   :P

Well I did like the film and am glad I saw it.  As everyone has said the effects were brilliant but as I am not a huge fan of the comics I am not sure how the whole Gwen/Sandman/Venom matched up.  Some of the niggles that I spotted though were-

Aunt Mays cup of tea, or should I say water  :rofl:.  In England we would have said that cup of tea was so weak it needed crutches  :rofl:

The amazing appearing and disappearing Spiderman mask - watch how often it is pulled off or ripped and miraculously regenerates  :o

The ability of the TV cameras to capture MJ's screams in the suspended taxi but their inability to film the now mask-less Harry and Peter and reveal their identity to the world.

The shocking piece of editing after Spidey wears the black costume for the first time.

And finally the stupidity of parents who took their three and four year olds to film that was over two hours long and was clearly much too violent for young eyes to see.

All that said I did love the film and the niggles are just part of the fun.  I totally agree with Boggy about the POTC trailer though, it almost makes me not want to see the film.  Only almost though  ;)

Oh I forgot to mention the very cool opening titles which brings you up to date with what happened in the other two films. 

I just had a look at the card breakdown for Spiderman 3.  Did anyone notice Lucy Lawless in the film?

Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing Lucy Lawless, either.  Her character was Punk Rock Girl. 

Hmm, I just checked IMDB.  She was not in Spider-Man 3; she was in the second movie.  There's one auction so far for the card:

Did anyone see Hal Sparks? He's listed as "Elevator Guy" but he had that role in Spidey 2  ::)

Here is the funny thing. I did NOT like the first film, I thought the second was a better for sure, but it was still a let down for me. This one, I have heard a lot of people saying they don't like it...and I freaking LOVED IT!

By the way, it smashed just about every record ever. It just was posted on showbizdata.com...

$148M in 3 days...just insane.

Venom- superbly  done cgi

Sandman- again well done cgi but the problem with having two villains is that neither get the screen time they deserve especially Venom

Goblin- James Franco was for me the best actor in the film

Gwen Stacey- what a waste of time the character was >:(). In the comic she was Peter’s first real love, here she’s just a prop to make MJ jealous

For me the film seemed to drag early on, but when the pace quickened I really enjoyed it and it had some good humorous moments and great fight scenes.
