: Kittens! NOT AGAIN!!!!
: grecopa March 04, 2007, 10:35:43 PM
Some of you may remember me posting about the feral kitten problem we had in our neighborhood last year.  Well, it's started again!  Phil was going to work yesterday morning at 6am when he came back in and woke me up to show me....kittens in the front floorboard of his truck.  See, we have a crappy old Toyota 4runner Phil uses to go to the airport in (he leaves it for 7 days) and the back window won't shut all the way.  So there they were, not more than a day or two old.  He had to go, so I put them in a box with some towels and left it by the garage in the hopes that mama cat would come back and get them.  No such luck.  I ended up taking them to the local humane society later that morning (which is now a no kill shelter) where I spent over an hour while the wonderful ladies called around to cat rescue groups trying to find a foster home.  Finally they found someone willing to bottlefeed 6 tiny kittens every 2 hours!   :o  So it all worked out in the end, but I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of a very long kitten springtime.  :-\  If those kittens had been born in the back of the truck, Phil wouldn't have seen them and they would have died from starvation.  Please everyone who reads this, if you have a cat that isn't spayed or neutered, please get it done.  Prevent unnecessary deaths.  We were just lucky this time.

Kelly, I am so glad this turned out to be a happy ending!  :)  There is such a problem with strays and it breaks my heart. It's wonderful to hear that your shelter is a no-kill facility... just recently had a local shelter adopt that policy, which I think they all should.  All little pups and kittens deserve a chance at a loving home.
