Well guys it can't have passed you by that it was Shrove Tuesday yesterday... and that means 2 things, a) lots of great pancakes, and 2) Something that you might be giving up for lent.

OK OK, so I totally forgot it was Shrove Tuesday and I didn't have a lemon in  :o :o :o so there were no traditional pancakes for us. We had 2 toppings... galaxy chocolate :rofl: and the other was a mash of banana, honey and a smidgen of milk... both were really good :rofl:

Oh, and all 4 pancakes were verily tossed and landedback in the pan! Not bad eh?

So did anyone else have some nice recipes I can learn from? The Arts theatre in town doesn't really serve popcorn, but they do have a 'great crepe company' cafe... and they have some great recipes (mostly including chocolate... some even have malteasers :rofl:).

Tuesday is my late night at work so I will be pancaking on Saturday.  Afraid I have no new recipe's though, we are traditionalists and just have sugar and lemon :P

Oh bless. 4 pancakes. We eat that many as tasters while Sharon is cooking the real batch  :rofl:

OK ok, if you want to drag it out of me, the first pancake was a complete disaster. It was a year since we'd made them, it was too thick and there was too much oil... in the end Mark folded it over with galaxy inside... that bit tasted great (Obviously) but as I tasted the bit around the edge I asked Mark for a slice of beef :P

Yes yes, it's a quite a rich milk chocolate, not an ideal cooking choc but it was to hand... and for those with different cultural backgrounds the mixture of eggs, flour etc. used to make pancakes/crepes is the same as is used to make Yorkshire puddings, the perfect roast beef accompaniment :)

hmmm been as mike missed pancake day i may have to make them for tea tonight.........and remember galaxy  ;)

We didn't make any on Tuesday but will probably do some this evening. We eat them fresh out the pan, not warmed up from being cooked earlier, and it's a race to see who finishes theirs first and gets the next one!  ::) ;D
Fraid I'm more of the traditionalist too and will have mine with sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice on them! Mum always served them with sugar and lemon juice when I was a kid, but I've become a wimp as I've got older and the thought of lemon juice and sugar, well let's just say my mouth looks like this little guy -> :-X

Five days late, but i finally had my pancakes for brekkie this morning; topped with raspberries and fresh yoghurt  ;D

Ah... so Galaxy is our Dove equivalent! I haven't had one of those for ages - shame one me!

No pancakes here, but if you all insist, I'll get onto finding some this week ;D

Talking of food guess what I spotted in Sainsburys? Tim Tams and in two varieties

actually here in australia  they have  brought out 3 new varieties of tim tams   and the three are called love potions  Double Chocolate and Raspberry, Tim Tam Love Potions Chocolate Mud, Tim Tam Love Potions Sticky Vanilla Toffee

OOOOOOO I LOVE Tim Tams - I'll have to make a point of looking for them in my local Sainsburys - thanks for telling me Dawn ... just hope they stock them here in the backwaters!  :o=  :rofl:

I'm sure I have been in an Aussie shop up London, I seem to remember kangaroos and stuff. Also there's a sweet shop in Bluewater seems to have a lot of imported sweets I don't recognise. ;D

If you head off to Covent Garden look for Maiden Lane, and just past the Maple Leaf Pub you will find a shop that sell all sorts of goodies from OZ, NZ, USA, SA not that I frequent it of course I just go in with a mate  0:)
