: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 January 17, 2007, 11:14:54 PM
Well, according to Non Sport Update it is coming out in April. What do you think we will get? In the past sets (done by upper deck) there were basicly NO premium inserts whatsoever...I believe they did filmcards for Spiderman 2.

Do you think RA will be able to land any of the big cast members to sign? Two people in the movie HAVE signed before... Kiersten Dunst for Small Soldiers and Bruce Campbell for Xena (and maybe something else?). What I really wonder is if RA will be able to get costumes or props...for Spiderman 2 Sony held a HUGE auction on Ebay selling off all the costume and props and all the money went to charity...will RA be able to convince Sony to hand over some costumes? I know I would COMPLETELY freak out if I was able to get my hands on a piece of the spiderman costume...or sweet lord...a dual costume with the normal and symbiote suit?

What does everyone else think? What are you hoping to see from this set?

well with the standards they have set on other sets i dont think you can go wrong in letting rittenhouse produce the cards, autos , sketches, case toppers the list is endless, although i never bought any i heard alot people werent too impressed with RA's attempt of xmen 3 so hopefully this set would be better

:o= i hope theres a kirsten dunst auto and piecework,i would kiss that everyday lmao

I'm sure we have some Spiderman 3 fans here at the Shack and in case you have not yet heard the big news...

Autograph Cards 1:20 Packs
Tobey McGuire has been confirmed as a PACK INSERTED signer for this set
Willem Dafoe "Norman Osborn"
James Franco "Harry Osborn"
J.K. Simmons "J. Jonah Jameson"
Dylan Baker "Dr. Curt Connors"
Elizabeth Banks "Betty Brant"
Bill Nunn "Joseph Robertson"
Bruce Campbell "Usher"
Lucy Lawless "Punk Rock Girl"
Hal Sparks "Elevator Passenger"
Avi Arad "Producer"
Larry Joshua as Wrestling Promoter (S1)
Joe Manganiello as Flash (S1 & S3)
Mageina Tovah as Ursula (S2 & S3)
Jayce Bartok as Subway Guitarist (S1)
Stan Lee

Potentially, the Tobey autograph could end up being the single most valuable single autograph out of any card set.
There is still almost a month before release...and I have a feeling RA might have a couple more suprises up their sleeves...Thomas Hayden Church was originally on the signers list but was removed a couple weeks after it went up.

This was looking like a bit of a lackluster set, but with the possibility of pulling a Spiderman auto I am all for it now.

I just hope he ends up in the archive box as the 10 case incentive, as that would be awesome!!!  :)

Yeah, this is really exciting.. I think he must go in the archive boxes too.... fingers crossed!

I'm scared by how much it's going to cost to collect a set of the sketches!

Does anyone know if this is the final autograph list, as the list on the Rittenhouse website has vanished completly!?!

Also Rittenhouse have announced they have sold out completly of this set!!!

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives

I think there might be a suprise or two coming out of RA sometime before release.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 20, 2007, 03:58:57 PM
What can they possibly surprise us with?

Go on - share your theories or hunches :)

I am really looking forward to this. Has anyone here ever had/opened a RA archive box? I haven't. In fact, I haven't really collected many RA sets, I went all out for X-Men 3. I like all Marvel stuff especially Spiderman and X-Men.

Do you think they'll have 'hidden' archive boxes as well as the incentive ones? That would be a real blast!!!

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn April 20, 2007, 04:19:26 PM
This is going to be the first RA set I have collected as well Roz! :)

I think as Spiderman himself is signing they could do an auto costume card of Spiderman! That would be cool!

I hope there is some kind of Archive box in the set, and with only a 3 case incentive they could included them aswell!  ???

So will you be buying boxes, cases or just cards Roz?

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 20, 2007, 04:28:29 PM
That... I'm not sure of yet Martyn. The 3-case incentives and the Toby Maguire are going to be the sticky points I think... so I think that cases are the way to go if poss and it might not be all that possible. What about you Martyn?

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn April 20, 2007, 04:33:04 PM
Well. I have bought 1 case already. Then come the release i'll check my bank balance and see what I can stretch too.

But at the minute it's one case!  ;D with the release 2 weeks today i'm getting excited!!

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 20, 2007, 05:12:10 PM
2 weeks today? Wow, the time's passing really quickly.

I've seen 2 reviews of the film. One in the Times said there weren't enough enemies  and gave it 3/5 (based on the Tokyo preview). I think the review mentioned that there was a cheesy US Flag waving moment which sparked controversy (lots of Americans understandably were a little cheesed off, and much US vs the rest of the world bashing ensued ), another review in the Telegraph this morning thought the film was outstanding.

I haven't got Empire yet - but I'm sure they will have the most reliable review of all.

Hi

I just managed to secure a case I had been on holiday when the Tobey Auto news was announced and had been my order late hoping something like this would happen. Cant wait for this now may is going to be an expensive month now with the Bond set (2 Cases) and the Potter set (5 Cases). But thats why I love this hobby.

Rich

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn April 21, 2007, 02:24:23 AM
Expensive indeed! I have gotten cases for Spiderman 3, Charmed Forever and Complete James Bond!

Lets all hope I pull the more expensive cards from my cases!  :o=

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 21, 2007, 03:10:18 PM
Yeah!

Apparently Tobey IS in the Archive box. Let's hope that this is a sign that he isn't stupidly rare!

Apologies for the dupe post, but I need a bit of a hand and so needed to grab some attention.

The Rittenhouse site is incomplete at the moment so far as Spiderman info goes. Has anyone got a record anywhere (mental or otherwise) of the auto list/case cards/case incentives etc.? I have a feeling there was an auto costume of Jonah - was that a 2 case incentive?

Thanks :D

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 April 23, 2007, 11:54:21 PM
Roz,
I posted all of the known autographs earlier in the thread. The case incentives are:

1 Case: Jonah costume card
2 Case: Jonah costume/auto
3 Case: Sketch Card

from what I have heard from dealers, the autograph list will be finaized at the end of this week....still have my fingers crossed that Thomas Hayden gets added back into the mix...even if he is ultra rare.

and yeah, this is going to be an EXPENSIVE two months coming up for me. I have a case of Spidey (early May) a case of Bond (late May) Star Wars 30th as well as DC (June/July)...to many dang releases.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 24, 2007, 12:03:22 AM
So you did! Duh!!! ::) Thanks Bryan. Those sketches are going to be HOT. If there's only 400 cases flying around and all the different artists (the list of those has dissappeared too), it's going to be tough.

I do not remember the artist list, but I know there are 5 artists and each is doing 50 sketches (pretty sure)

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Roz April 28, 2007, 05:02:44 AM
What is RA up to? One WEEK until the movie is released and we are hearing rumours of a last minute 40% hike in the print run (at 2 autos per box, that's a HECK of a lot of autos (14,000 autos)) and there's no definitive list of what we are getting. Can it possibly be out before the week's up?

This is getting a little too fishy for my liking.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: ztaylork April 28, 2007, 09:23:16 AM
I agree.  2 weeks ago I was sooo excited for this set, and now I am scared that it is gonna flop with the rumors of box increases and not knowing for sure who is actually signing for the set.  Rittenhouse could quickly be right up there with artbox in companies that annoy me.  I don't know what I prefer least, a comapany that doesn't announce any details on a set until pretty much after its released, or a company that changes things twenty times in the last month before release.  :(

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn April 28, 2007, 01:57:45 PM
After a few e-mails with RA, my 2 main questions where "Do you have any information on the set" and "With no solid information yet, could the set be delayed?"

The 2 answers I got where "Unfortunately, no." and "No. The set will release on schedule as far as I know."

This is the first RA set I have ever collected! Does it give me great confidence in the company? At the minute "NO"

Lets just hope it's not delayed and see what my cases are like and we will go from there!

Customer Service is what happens after the product is released. I fix problems with incomplete base sets and missing cards and damaged cards. I will get product notes on or just before the release date. I can't give you information I don't have, it's as simple as that. I apologize for that, but I'm as anxious as everyone else to see what goodies are in store. Should that diminish your confidence in our company? I don't see why - I do my job to the best of my ability. Were you ever to encounter a problem with our products, you can be assured that I will work to remedy that in a timely, professional manner.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 April 28, 2007, 08:46:27 PM
sketchqueen - i think the problem a lot of people are having are two things.

1) All the info WAS up on the site, and now there is nothing at all. RA could easily come back and say Tobey will not be signing for the set now, the same thing they aparantly did with Thomas Hayden Church, and to be 100% honest, when I heard Tobey was signing I IM'd my local distributor and had him put me down for a case. So if RA can so easily pull down one of the huge signers (Church) what is to say they could not do the same with Tobey. With a week to go before release it is just a bit scary when a company pulls down all the info. Hell, the list could go back up and only have two signers if RA wanted to...Naked Guitar Guy and Hal Sparks. Imagine 7,000 autos from each of them.

2) If the rumor of a 40% increase in box numbers is true, I will NEVER purchase from RA again. I have NEVER had a problem with RA and as a matter of fact, because of this, I always praise them as my favorite. I bought my case thinking this would be a very premium low printed product. It was to my understanding there would be 10,000 autographs, not 14,000. This brings the resale value of the easier to pull autographs WAY DOWN. I'm not in this hobby to make money, I have found that is almost impossible, but I am a collector, and if I am putting together a set, there needs to be some VALUE in even the lower end autographs to help me obtain other cards I need. The cost of a case is a lot of money, a LOT, and if the rumor is true, RA has basicly just lowered the value of my investment by 40%. That is unacceptable and I prey that it is simply a rumor. Look what happened with POAU, you can pick up costume cards from that set for under $5...and it also made a lot of people look at Artbox in a different way after the seemingly perfect release of POA. They hiked their case production, and dealers and collectors alike both felt the results of that.

So should those two things make us "diminish our confidence" in RA. Maybe not, because chances are we will still always buy your products. We do the same with Artbox even though (and they have KIND of been doing better of late) they treat the collector like crap and do the same things it is rumored RA might be doing (pulling out inserts they origially listed and increasing productions after they stated a certain amount).

That said, I know that "I" personally will be a little weary about purchasing from RA in the future if these RUMORS (the key word right now) turn out to be true

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: bush360 April 29, 2007, 12:24:06 AM
I agree with all the concerns as I too have ordered a case of this product, I had a prooblem before with Xmen 3 where i had ordered based on preliminary information from a distributor only to have the actual release details being different from what I thought I would get. So my case of this was ordered late on after the tobey auto was included. I am a massive spidey fan and have collected the comics since i was about 5, I viewed this set upon it being the ultimate auto line up of any spideman set possible. I know this may be a sinical view but i think RA saw the demand set after the inclusion of the Tobey auto and are probably able to get more of the common signers signatures therefore increasing the production run but having a much higher proportion of the lesser character autos. I do believe this may be common practice as i seem to remember with Topps LOTR Masterpieces many artists were requested to produce extra sketches but this set was still great.
It is still very dissapointing as this set should have been awesome I hope this uncertainty doesnt ruin it.
Fingers Crossed Hey  :o=

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Raj April 29, 2007, 06:05:51 AM
Assuming the news of the increase of the production run is correct, the only reason we'd know is because RA is the only company that releases that info.  Any and all other companies could have significantly increased or decreased their production runs based on orders received on any of and we'd be none the wiser.

I don't remember anyone complaining about getting 2 costume cards per box instead of 1 in the Fantastic Four movie set (I know it was by a different company but the point stands).  I would guess that was because the production run was decreased due to low demand.

In this case, RA would be responding to demand - high.  They are a business after all.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Raj April 29, 2007, 06:59:19 PM
Has anyone noticed that it says 2 autos per box on the RA website?

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 April 29, 2007, 07:52:42 PM
It has said that for quite some time....the 2 autos per box was anounced before the Tobey autograph.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Raj April 29, 2007, 09:40:09 PM
Really?  I guess I wasn't very observant.  I thought it was 1 per box.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 April 29, 2007, 11:10:01 PM
It was originally.

Then they took Thomas Hayden Church off the list and made it 2 Autos per box prob because interest in the set was no where what they expected. Then they added Tobey and increased the production 2,000 boxes because interest skyrocketed with that anouncement.

Also, it looks more and more like this is not a rumor, as the person who originally posted the 5,000 to 7,000 increase said that he spoke directly to someone at RA and they said "they still would not have enough to fill the orders that have come in"

That sounds pretty legit to me.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bogleg April 30, 2007, 05:23:50 PM
I think it needs to be reminded that most on this board are collectors, not dealers. If an increased production run means it's going to be cheaper for me to complete a set, then great  ;D These are TRADING CARDS. The trading seems to have, for the most part, lost. I have, in the past, traded a card "worth" £80 for one "worth" £30. I have also traded a £10 card for a £120 one. In both cases, they were doubles that I didn't need and someone else did. As soon as the hobby becomes a business, it seems a lot of the enjoyment disappears.
As far as Rittenhouse goes, you get what you pay for - the best quality cards you can buy. They, together with Inkworks could run master classes on how customer service should be run.

I may buy one box of Spider-Man. I will definitely buy a case of DC. No worries what I'm going to pull because I know it's going to be good.

ouch...with my luck the "very limited" auto I will pull will end of being Avi Arad.

still not to happy with the fact that the production was increased, that is really a slap in the face to the people who ordered early (before the big auto anouncement)

the sketches are amazing though, those are going to comand BIIIIIIG $$$

: Martyn May 01, 2007, 01:51:08 AM
ouch...with my luck the "very limited" auto I will pull will end of being Avi Arad.

Thats what I was just thinking to myself!

Whats the insert rate like when they say VERY LIMITED & LIMITED

Is VERY LIMITED 1 Per Case
LIMITED 2 Per Case

 ???  ???

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: sketchqueen May 01, 2007, 02:32:21 AM
From the scifihobby.com website's FAQ :
Q: What does "Limited" and "Very Limited" mean in regards to autograph card quantities?
A: Normal = 500 and up
Limited = 300-500 range
Very Limited = 200-300 range

http://www.scifihobby.com/faq.cfm

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn May 01, 2007, 02:59:41 AM
So that means the insert rate could look something like this

Tobey Maquire as Spider-Man (Very Limited) 1 in 2.3 to 3.5 Cases
James Franco as Harry Osborn (Limited) 1 in 1.4 to 2.3 Cases
Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn (Limited) 1 in 1.4 to 2.3 Cases

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson
Lucy Lawless as Punk Rock Girl (Very Limited) 1 in 2.3 to 3.5 Cases
Bruce Campbell as Ring Announcer (Limited) 1 in 1.4 to 2.3 Cases
Dylan Baker as Dr. Connors
Bill Nunn as Joseph Robertson
Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant (Limited) 1 in 1.4 to 2.3 Cases
Jayce Bartok as Subway Guitarist
Brent Briscoe as Garbage Man
Mageina Tovah as Ursula
Aasif Madvi as Mr. Aziz
Stan Lee as Innocent Bystander
Larry Joshua as Wrestling Promoter
Hal Sparks as Elevator Passenger
Jack Betts as Henry Balkan
Joe Manganiello as Flash Thompson
Avi Arad as Producer (Very Limited) 1 in 2.3 to 3.5 Cases
Elyse Dinh as Violinist

So I would say 1 VERY LIMITED Card per case with a 1 in 3 chance of a Toby McGuire auto!

250 of each VERY LIMITED, 233 in packs 17 to fill Archive Boxes, Keep for Reference and Spare to send out!

Cases have also begun shipping! Woo  ;D

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Bryanjs14 May 01, 2007, 04:08:13 AM
well, if we have three signers that are very limited and they each signed 250 cards then we can expect them to fall 1 per case. So basicly you have a 1:3 case chance of pulling a Maguire auto as your "very limited" auto in your case.

Two problems however, Tobey may NOT have signed as many as the other two "very limited" signers, and I do not believe RA guarantees a "very limited" auto in each case.

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Martyn May 01, 2007, 04:48:56 AM
Yeah, the above isnt "This is what it's going to be" more of a "What it could be"

: Re: Spiderman 3 Card set from Rittenhouse Archives
: Raj May 01, 2007, 05:46:42 AM
7000 boxes will give 583 cases.  Even if 3 VL autos were 200 each, there would be enough for 1 per case with a few left over.
You've have to really unlucky to not get a VL auto in a case.  Granted it might be Avi Arad but still a VL auto.
Knowing my luck recently, that's what I'll be getting.

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson x1  ;D
Lucy Lawless as Punk Rock Girl (Very Limited) x1
Dylan Baker as Dr. Connors x1  ;D (he will be Lizard in the next movie, so it is a good card to have)
Bill Nunn as Joseph Robertson x1
Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant (Limited) x1
Jayce Bartok as Subway Guitarist x2
Brent Briscoe as Garbage Man x4
Mageina Tovah as Ursula x2 (one of which is the Bunny variant)
Aasif Madvi as Mr. Aziz x1
Stan Lee as Innocent Bystander x1
Larry Joshua as Wrestling Promoter x1
Jack Betts as Henry Balkan x1
Elyse Dinh as Violinist x4

I have had three boxes with three autos in them...one of them had the second Willem Dafoe in it. The odds are greatly against me pulling a Tobey out of the two boxes left seeing as I already pulled a "Very Limited" auto...but one can hope.

How long can any man fight the darkness... before he finds it in himself?

Below are scans of the incredible artwork done by artist Cat Staggs for this series.  These cards were available as as bonus to anyone who ordered three cases of Spider-Man 3 Movie trading cards.
