: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Scifi Cards January 16, 2007, 07:42:10 AM
Just noticed in the latest Non Sport Update that Artbox has another set scheduled before OOTP...

The World of Harry Potter in 3-D...

Due in April.  No word yet on contents.

My question, do we really need another 'gimmick' set before OOTP?  Chamber of Secrets suffered because of coming out soon after Memorable Moments.

De we really want to see Harry Potter in 3D?

It really looks like Artbox is squeezing the last penny out of this franchise.

Ed

Two HP sets per year is enough.  Artbox is not giving collectors or dealers a chance to recoup from each big release.  I'm also concerned about what the price will be for a box of 3D cards.  They will definitely be more expensive to produce than the regular ones.

I do like the idea of a 3D set, but I think it would be better to wait until all seven movies are done.  It shouldn't be a filler set between movies.

Do you mean info or do you mean promos?

I have to say I am a little skeptical. We've all seen the lenticular case topper cards and although they are cool, they aren't all that 'lifelike'. I particularly liked the quality of the case topper cards before CoS, although even those don't live up to the Kodak produced Skymotion cards that were featured in Star Trek Voyager in the early nineties.

Artbox are claiming that we'll be blown away by the new cards, that (and I quote)

This set features 72 cards in stunning 3-D Technology and randomly inserted chase cards —3-D cards that require no special glasses to view--but instead use a lenticular process creating 3-D effects so lifelike that you’ll swear you’re watching the scenes on the big screen!

I'm not sure I'm convinced, but I'd really LOVE to be proven wrong :) I'm waiting to see a promo before making any hasty decisions.

Well that's a point Bryan... maybe they have something stunning up their sleeves, and that's pretty stunning stuff... but it might be a little pricey for Artbox?? Who knows?

In the meantime I'll prepare to be blown away (no I'm not talking about the latest weather forecast in Britain)

oh somehow I doubt Artbox could afford something like that, but I thought it would be cool to point out that the technology is there, and we all know in 5 years every movie poster will be using that technology, and it will become cheaper and cheaper to produce SO (lol) maybe it is something to look forward to well down the road for this hobby

I was very disappointed in the Collector Cards in the Memorable Moments set.  I'm like the rest of you'll.  I'm going to wait and see what the premium cards look like before I buy any boxes.

Well at least we can have a pretty good guess who the auto's are going to be (well at least some of them)...remember not that long ago all the pull backs from COS...All the MM autos were from GOFU .....so I wouldn't be the least surprised that these autos,  that at first were reported to be in COS are now going to be in HP3D...It looks like there will be more black robe swatches to collect also !!
I sure hope they get their act together and have Warrick Davis signing this time..as we all need the 6th installment of his autograph, to collect in our sets

I need them to hold off on another Potter set for a while... WAY too many in a row in 2006...

That's for sure.  Right now, they're going to have at least three sets in 2007 -- 3D, OOTP, and OOTPU.  This is the first time I'm tempted to skip a release.  I haven't placed a pre-order yet, and that's unusual for me.  It certainly sounds interesting and has potential, but if the costumes and props are rehashed from previous sets, I may buy a base set and leave it at that.

I really don't understand why Artbox is oversaturating the HP market.  COS has not done as well as the other sets.  There are tons of boxes and cases still available, which is part of the reason why the inserts, especially the props, are expensive.  Not that many people have cracked boxes (just look at the lack of posts in the COS case/box breakdown thread, compared to other sets).  I can't imagine that the distributors and dealers are too happy.  One would think the company would learn from this and pull back a bit.

that was  ::) ::)
tom riddle
dobby
molly weasley
ect....

me and sam have shook hands on skipping this set, :P and to concentrate on the OOTF, hoping to get two cases of that :o= :o= but looking back on MM and the hole concept of that. sam regrets getting a case. at the time of the release all the cards were very exspensive and we kinda stuck to the cards we pulled and in comparison to our other sets its quite insignificant. and thinking about it the hole thing of releasing cosume and props that have already been been made into card from other sets is a bit repetative.

Distributor orders are due April 16, yet the only info we have about inserts is that Dan Radcliffe is signing for the set. ::)  Artbox will have a table at this weekend's Philly Non-Sport Show.  Hopefully, there will be some info and promos then.

i've just seen pictures of the packaging on the potomac website for the product.

IMO the packaging looks good  :D-

notice only 7 cards per pack not the usual 8.  obviously the cards are thicker due to them being lenticular.

: Geek Boy March 31, 2007, 10:43:00 PM
Says "Chase, Costume, Prop and Auto" on the box in those pics....

I just don't see the point in another HP set that covers everything we've already seen.  There are bound to be duplicate autos (which I hate - new autos, new autos!) another Quidditch Robe/Harry's Jumper/Neville's Pajama's costume, another Daily Prophet prop card etc etc

Think I'll go for Stargate Season 9 instead...

You're welcome!

I have a feeling that most of the props and costumes will be items we have seen in previous sets with maybe a couple new ones, like in Memorable Moments, but I am addicted to all the sets. Don't know if that is a good thing or not for my wallet

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: LikORish-Spider April 02, 2007, 04:16:52 AM
Artbox is only doing 7 cards per pack vs the usual, upto now, 8 cards. (Didn't MM also have 7?) A pre-sale on Ebay has the box at $65.00 and the case at $600.00. Shipping extra of course. How many cases are there, how many autos.ptops, costumes???? Perhaps a low issue run means haigher price to make a profit.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: rns91294 April 02, 2007, 04:24:03 AM
The print run is 400. I don't know about the amount of costumes/props or autos, other than the 9 auctos I saw at the show.  The thread about the show is in the General discussion area.

I picked up a box of Season 4 trading cards at the show, which Artbox does.  There are only 7 cards per pack, but 36 packs per box.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: The Razzer April 02, 2007, 04:34:46 AM
Potomac has cases for $579 plus shipping.  And he said that there will be a 2 case incentive.  artbox are passing more info to him in the coming weeks.

If the props/costumes/autos are the same as previous sets at least there will be some variation as the props and costumes will be in 3d (well the card art anyway) and the autos are vertical as opposed the the previous horizontal (if i understand correctly from what was desribed by rns91284).

I thought the 7 cards maybe because of the 3d effect, but if MM had 7 cards then its down to the 72 card set not 90 for 8 card packs.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: rns91294 April 02, 2007, 04:47:26 AM
The sell sheet says 72 cards and yes, the autos are vertical.

I have to say I like the sound of the set, I like the idea of 3d Base set but I too am worried about the lack of any info I would really like to get some info before ordering but the order date is just 2 weeks away now and no details at all

I really hope this set is very different to MM as I thought the base cards were hopeless but a lot of the chase cards were nice shame that there was so much repeat stuff

I've not dealt with them before (obviously) but perhaps others here have?

Does anyone know ehre I can buy a case for this set I've had a look on ebay but cannot see any cases there, also when is the release date for this set because all the diiferent websites I have been on are giving different dates.

Potomac:  http://www.potomacdist.com/detail.asp?ItemId=potterw3dc&a=

Georgetown Card Exchange (there's no direct link, but you can type Harry Potter in the search engine):  http://www.gcxonline.com/index_ns.htm

The latest I've heard is that the set will ship from Artbox to distributors on May 28.  I think the different dates you've seen might be when dealers expect to receive their cases and ship the product.

I have just thought about something, if you buy a case from the US to be shipped to the UK do you have to pay a customs charge? and if you do how much do they normally charge?

Depends on the value the sender puts on the customs form. If they put a value of £18 or £36 if they mark it as a gift there won't be any charge.
Anything higher then that theres a charge.

I got my Spiderman 3 case yesterday and the value was marked at $250 and it got charged at £45  >:()

That's unfair, who do you pay the charge to royal mail? and does it have to be by cash.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn May 15, 2007, 10:06:34 PM
As my case was sent Express it came by Parcel Force, I paid by card when I collected it in person at the depot.
You can pay by cash if you collect it in person but if you can't it has to be with a card. As you have to pay up front or at the depot before they deliver it.

They don't allow there drivers to carry cash around!

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter May 15, 2007, 10:09:48 PM
My case is coming by TNT Global Express so would that be parcel force, if so I don't know where the nearest parcel force depot is to me, as I don't drive it would make it hard to travel just to collect my case  >:()

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn May 15, 2007, 10:14:14 PM
If it is getting sent via TNT it will be delivered by TNT not Parcel Force. I don't know how they operate with charges though.

Maybe someone else can help??

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter May 15, 2007, 11:11:16 PM
I emailed my distributor potomac to ask about customs charges, and replied back to me saying I should expect to pay 25-35% does that mean off the total price of the case including shipping.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn May 15, 2007, 11:16:43 PM
The shipping price will have nothing to do with the custom charge. It is just the value on the customs form!

Hi
I havent dealt with TNT recently but seem to remember them asking for payment upon delivery. With parcel force you normally get a letter sent out to advise that there is a customs charge to pay before they try to deliver it. DHL will deliver first but then send a customs invoice afterwards. UPS will normally deliver and ask for payment upon delivery.
Either way you will pay an extra 20% based upon the shipment value if over £36.

I have just worked it out on a currency calculator and it just comes to under £36, so hopefully I should be alright  ;D

If you contact the depot and ask if it is ok to pay the delivery postman with a cheque they will normaly say yes, (sometimes you might have to fight your corner as they can be lazy buggers)
I remember arguing this with them  ;D as they have been contracted & paid to actualy deliver the item & taken it upon themselfs to collect the Customs duty (which they charge you for doing) so why should you have to collect the item!  I pointed out that I would have to take a taxi to the depot & back and therfore would have no choice but to bill them for that & my time LOL They deliverd

You should contact him directly at:  tbreyer@optonline.net
I sent him an email and got back to me saying that he has sold out of the cases  :(

That doesn't suprise me. I talked to another dealer in New York and he said that the 3D set is an extremely limited case release. He said that there was only 200 cases produced on this set. (Not sure how accurate that is.) His ebay ID is yankeedoodle12144 he said that he had order some cases so if you send him an email through ebay he might have some for sell.

When I have had stuff delivered by people other than Royal Mail I have been able to pay the charge over the phone and then have it delivered later.  Boy they don't make these things easy  ::)

Has anyone heard a firm shipping date for this set yet?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox

That would be fine for me, then I can ask them to deliver on a day that suits me  :D just means I will have to wait alittle longer from my boxes.

I believe the date is sill set at May 28th but it's a hoilday in the US.

That's what I posted in another thread.  My guess it that it will ship before the end of the month.  I hope. :o=  If it's any later, it will be way too close to the OOTP release.

: gimli May 19, 2007, 01:21:22 AM
most courier companies will invoice you for customs charges after they have delivered at least thats how it has been for me with DHL, UPS and TNT in the past but they may have changed what they do and I am a businessso maybe that makes a difference too

The worst thing is that I will be away from the 25th may to the 2nd June so if mine arrives in that time it will be the 4th June before i get it :(

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter May 19, 2007, 01:22:54 AM
I haven't gone mad on this set, but I have spend alot more on the OOTP release, I am hoping to get boxes for this set 1st - 8th June at least. Then at least it gives alittle breather for the OOTP cards.

There was me hoping it would arrive during my week off but it looks like we will all have another week to wait not really very good especially with ootp coming out in the near future

Artbox are really not thinking about this this time

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum May 24, 2007, 05:36:07 PM
Artbox will have to push back OOTP.  Unless they've hired many more printers (and who knows what that would do to quality), I don't see how they can produce two big sets three weeks apart.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli May 24, 2007, 05:58:24 PM
The is probible that the base sets and chase cards have all been printed for many months and are stored in Uncut sheets ready for cutting and packing the whole process ofpacking and cutting cards would only take a day or 2 as it is really quite a small print run for an industrial print company.

I would not be supprised if the only thing holding the set back is that they are trying to insert autos not redemptions and it is a waiting game on actors returning auto's

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter May 24, 2007, 06:52:48 PM
I am not very happy about the delay for this set, Artbox keep doing this to us all the time, according to the Potomac website the OOTP set is now due for release the 2nd July  >:(), and this is the set i'm most looking forward too.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum May 24, 2007, 07:35:31 PM
Potomac's date is not the release date nor when Artbox is shipping the cases to them.  It's when Potomac expects to have the cases in hand and have time to sort and ship them to its customers.  I don't care for more OOTP delays, but I do want more time between the 3D and OOTP releases.  I won't be able to buy many 3D inserts if I have to save that money to pay for my OOTP boxes.  I'm certainly not the only one, and this is not good news for dealers.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli May 24, 2007, 10:29:21 PM
I didn't buy much of this product but it is still annoying not to get it earlier The big problem is that OOTP needs to be released before the film or that would be pushed back a lot. Most dealers would be very annoyed if OOTP was to be released after the film

I am sure that it won't but that means the two releases are just too close what other company put out sets within a month of each other on the same licence none It is just bad for the market

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox

The cases definitely were not shipped from Artbox today.  June 4 is the last date we were told for shipment, and it would be highly unusual for the set to go out early.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter May 31, 2007, 10:47:26 PM
I've just done a live web chat with Potomac distribution, and they have no info on the actual release date or the card ratios for the inserts, they did say last we heard that artbox are shipping out late may/early june.

To me artbox arn't being very helpful and its getting too closer to the release of OOTP week by week.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 01, 2007, 09:10:02 PM
Or they might not ship until next week.  We don't know yet.  Artbox isn't even open for business yet today, because, at the moment, it's 8 a.m. in California.  We should know by the end of the day if they've begun shipping.  In the past, they've done a staggered release -- UK cases first, then US east coast, US central states, and US west coast.  That doesn't mean they'll do it this time, though.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 01, 2007, 09:15:01 PM
oh i see, I thought they would send cases to the US then leave us in the UK to last..I do hope they do start shipping later today, I have been really looking forward to this set.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 01, 2007, 09:26:52 PM
There isn't any way to ship product overseas and across the US and have everyone receive their cases at the same time, but they try to even things out a bit with staggered shipping.  If Artbox says they will start shipping today, they might ship the UK cases today and wait until Monday to start on the cases headed for the eastern US.  But, that's just speculation at this point.

I'm hopeful that we'll get some new info today and maybe we'll see some inserts on eBay at the end of next week.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 02, 2007, 12:25:33 AM
Gryffindor Forever, do you mean that your dealer is expecting to have his shipment sent from his distributor on June 14 or that he expects to ship out his orders on June 14?  Either way, potter, this does not mean there's another delay!  Artbox ships cases to its distributors, who in turn ship to dealers and other customers.  The dealers then ship to their own customers.  I'm sure you can see why it sometimes take a while before product gets to a collector when it has to be shipped three separate times to reach that collector.

All of the dates we see on dealer websites and in eBay auctions take this into account.  Since some people have their cases drop shipped directly from Artbox, they will get them sooner than others who have to wait for a dealer to ship.

then.  >:()  >:()  >:()

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 02, 2007, 02:37:20 AM
Here's the scoop. :)  Artbox will begin shipping cases next week.  However, the official release date is June 15.  This means that even if people receive their cases earlier than the 15th, they aren't supposed to sell their items until that embargo date.  That's why Potomac will not ship pre-orders until the 15th.  Here at the Shack, the case/box breakdown and scans/comments thread will be locked until that date.

As far as all info being given out says it is shipping this week for a release a week friday

but your guess is as good as mine on that one it just keeps changing  ::)

When Artbox starts shipping cases, we'll announce it here.  The distributors are just as antsy as we are to receive this set.  Hopefully, it won't be too much longer or it will interfere with other Artbox sets.  They supposedly have a June 19 release date for 24 Season 5, which is just four days after 3D's official release date.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 04, 2007, 12:20:10 AM
I do hope they get a move on soon, it won't be long until the release of OOTP and surly they carn't delay it to release it after the movie.

Who has people in the shack ordered there boxes/cases from because I am looking for new dealers besides potomac.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Sharon June 04, 2007, 12:36:38 AM
I am getting my case of 3d from Tom (Unique).

But I wouldn't hold your breath about OotP - I bet they will release it after the movie has come out.  Don't forget this film will be in the cinema for at least 6 weeks over the school holidays, plus the release of the book will keep HP in the news.  Add onto this that all of the cases are probably sold out at Artbox already, then there is no reason for Artbox to stick to the original release date.  This is just my guess but I don't think we will see any OotP cards before the beginning of August.  Of course I truly hope to be proved wrong  :o=

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli June 04, 2007, 01:53:39 AM
I would say that it is the most important thing for OOTP cards to be tied in with the film and no one will be happy if it is not released before the film

Especially me it is close to the summer as it is which is the slowest time of year

This is at least the fifth or sixth time you've asked this question about dealers who sell HP cards.  Please refer to the answers you've already been given.

That is welcome news  ;D is the official release date still 15th June  ::)

The official release date is still June 15, so no box breakdowns, scans, or eBay listings until then.

hi potter-I would imagine that cases will start arriving tomorrow and Monday.  :)
I do hope so, one of my dealers in the US said to me yesterday by email that he has got his tracking number and should have his today  ;D

This is an email I received from a ebay seller in the UK
The latest I have heard is that they are stuck in US customs, having been sent from Artbox in Japan. No one seems to have them yet. The distributor in the US I work with has not received them. Hopefully soon. Transit is 7-10 days from the US so we are probably looking at maybe a couple of weeks yet at the earliest before I will have them.

You would think this release will push back the Order of the Phoenix set due out at the end of June but I guess we will see.

Once I hear sometime more definite I will let you know regarding the 3D set.

My cards arrived in the Uk Yesterday. Unfortunately I was away and tha ment that they could not clear them through customs til today so I will have to wait now til monday to get them. Never mind I am sure they will be great when I eventually get them

I couldn't understand why his cards are coming from Artbox Japan, I thought would of been in the US.

Thats good them Chris that yours arrived yesterday in the UK, would do you have to do to get them cleared through customs? I have never done this before, I normally get them from UK sellers.

In this case I did have to provide my VAT number as it is a business import and it needed to be charged to my business account as the shipping address differed from my billing address

That UK dealer had old information.  The cases do not come from Artbox in Japan, nor are they currently stuck in US customs.  The cards were produced in Taiwan, shipped to Artbox's US office in California, and the people there shipped out the orders to distributors on Tuesday.  There is at least one major US distributor who is expecting cases to arrive today, and there are some people who have already received their cases.  We probably won't hear much about the set until the official release date on June 15, but I wouldn't be surprised if some sellers have cards on eBay this weekend.  And, there is hope, slim though it may be, that Artbox will release some info.

Just a question, I'm going to be getting quite a few base sets from this set, and I'm just wondering what would be the best way to pack them before i put bubble wrap around them. Any ideas anyone?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 08, 2007, 07:19:09 PM
You have a few options.  There are plastic cases that will hold a base set, but they can be a bit expensive.  There are team bags, which hold about 20 to 24 cards each.  You'll need to split a 72-card base set between three bags (90-card sets will need four bags).  I think someone here uses archival-quality comic book bags, wraps up the set in one bag, and tapes it shut.

The original release infomation that was given out to distributors about this product in the beginning said

ARTBOX ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES
THE WORLD OF HARRY POTTER IN 3-D

This set features 72 cards in stunning 3-D Technology and randomly inserted chase cards —3-D cards that require no special glasses to view--but instead use a lenticular process creating 3-D effects so lifelike that you’ll swear you’re watching the scenes on the big screen!

but you never know it may have changed and i missed the announcement

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 09, 2007, 12:16:05 AM
I believe that rumor started when a website that previews new card sets said the 3D set would have 54 cards.  After Artbox issued the release Chris just posted, the information was removed from that website.  Every official announcement I've seen from Artbox states there are 72 cards in the base set.  It won't be much longer before we know for sure. :)

;D

Perhaps "This set features 72 cards in stunning 3-D Technology" was meant to include:

54 base cards
   9 lenticular chase cards
   6 rare chase cards
   3 ultra rare chase cards

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 09, 2007, 01:43:38 PM
I have got alittle bit of info about the insert ratios:

autos 1:48 and props 1:80

The official info i still like to refer to is the sell sheet. And the sell sheets says: In addition to the 72 cards, there will be 9 lenticular chase cards, prop cards ...  So there must be 72 base cards IMO.

And BTW, it's a 4 movie set and i expect the same number of base cards for each movie. You can divide 72 by 4, 18 cards for each movie (see the MM set). 54 doesn't work. ;)

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 09, 2007, 05:54:47 PM
I'd like to know more about the insert ratios.  For MM, there were two boxes in each case that had only one insert.  The rest had two.  I was one of the very unlucky people to order two boxes and receive both of the one-insert boxes.  Part of the reason I ordered only one 3D box is that I feared the same thing would happen with this set.  If there are 10 costumes (unconfirmed), 5 autos, and 3 props per case, then we will once again have two boxes per case with one insert. :-\

It's in the "news" section at the top of every page on the forum (could it be any easier?), and any hints/tips on improving it will be welcomed...

Thanks :D - it's also Yak Friendly, so that if you buy your cards after clicking through there, you may well be making a small donation to the forum, and every bit helps.

Guys, just to let you know we have a cool and easy search set up for you to look for HP 3D cards on ebay
You could delete "box topper" because the items would already show up from "box". I suggest making it "box*" to cover boxloader and boxtopper, and for those who aren't hyphenically challenged, add "3-d" or "3 d" to supplement "3D". Maybe also "album" to supplement "binder", and also add "auto*".

I'll wait until the 15th to see some of the scans, since I figure I'm going to have to checklist the base set anyway and then wait a few days for some of the multi-case incentive cards to start showing up for confirmation.  ;)

If your tracking your item through the Parcel Force website
I have just looked on the parcel Force website and it just says:

09-06-2007  11:55  Delivery Agent - UNITED STATES AMERICA Collected from customer

When Parcel Force physically has my parcel I'm assuming they will write to em and say there's a customs charge to me made.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn June 10, 2007, 10:17:05 PM
They will, it will also be stated on the tracking information page. Saying when it went through customs and if it gained a charge!

So you will know before you get the letter from parcel force!

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 10, 2007, 10:19:51 PM
Oh thats good then, so say if there is a charge to me made, I can ring them up and pay the charge, rather than waiting for the letter, then I get my boxes quicker  :), is that right?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli June 10, 2007, 10:25:08 PM
You have to wait for the letter to pay the customs charges as they give you a new reference number for the charge on the letter

It is annoying having to wait for things!

All the cases I have bought, and most I have had to wait quite abit for have turned out to be worth the wait.
So I don't mind waiting now, it seems to longer I wait the better the pulls in most cases!

My UPS box is in transit today, too.  That means it's out for delivery! :D  Unfortunately, no matter when it arrives, I can't open it.  I promised my daughter that we could open it together after she gets home from school.

I'd rather by a box for $55-$60 than a base set for $30.  Since this set truly is different than previous HP sets, maybe the base set prices will be higher than usual.

I've just had a email from a buyer I have sold to before on ebay, asking me can he have a full basic set and R1-R9 foil cards off me for £5, I said I would be looking at more than £5 for both combined.

I wonder what would be a good price for a basic card set?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 11, 2007, 07:15:19 PM
It's hard to say right now.  A few weeks ago, one US seller had $4.99 BINs for complete base sets, yet the auction I just posted today has a bidder at $29.99.  We don't know the insert ratios for the R foils, either.  Maybe that will be the same as other sets, maybe not.  There are supposedly two other chase sets of rare and ultra cards that could throw off the insert ratios, too.

If anyone receives their order today, please post the insert ratios that are printed on the backs of the packs.

there is also a seller with a $17.99 buy it now for the base sets right now on ebay (or at least an hour ago there was...not sure if it is still up) They will come down (IMO) for sure.

Also, can someone please PM me some scans as well? I only have a couple boxes coming but I would love to know what the cards look like.

Sounding like a broken record here... ::)
Why doesn't Artbox make the day they ship items, the release date!! >:()
We all know that almost all dealers have their cases here in the U.S.
And now to have to wait an additional week+ to "officially" see them
is ridiculous!!!! I'm also still amazed there has been no more info on
this set released!!! >:() Grrrrr!! >:(

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox

I have 5 boxes coming from my dealer in the US here is the tracking for it by the USPS website, what I want to know is does the international dispatch mean its gone on a flight to the UK and there now in the UK as the flight left last night.

International Dispatch, June 10, 2007, 8:38 pm, SAN FRANCISCO AMC
Enroute, June 10, 2007, 8:32 pm, SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94128
 Enroute, June 09, 2007, 5:02 pm, SEATTLE, WA 98158
 Acceptance, June 09, 2007, 11:55 am, ARLINGTON, WA 98223

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Sharon June 12, 2007, 01:02:55 AM
At this stage I think you just have to accept they are on their way to you.  When I have tried to follow these tracking details I have had a mixed result ie I either think it should be sitting on my doorstep but in fact they take another week to arrive or it says on the site it is somewhere over the Atlantic when it is in fact in my hot little hands  >:D.  The fact it is on route is a very good sign.  Won't be long now  :o=

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn June 12, 2007, 01:04:01 AM
Just because it says Internation Dispatch does mean it's going to be in the UK the next day. My ststus has been International Dispatch for 8 days now!

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 12, 2007, 01:09:16 AM
I hope they are in the UK now, because I paid the postage for it to arrive 3-5 days, by express mail. It has updated within the last minuite saying it has left the united states  ;D. Then it will be in the hands of parcel force 24, when they send you a letter with a customs charge how long does it take for the letter to arrive?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn June 12, 2007, 01:15:44 AM
A day or two, they will send it first class.
If you don't mind me saying, your expecting a quick turn around, when in fact it could be another week before they arrive.
Even if you pay for 3-5 day express, that means the USA postal service will get it to the UK within that time and then it's upto Parcel Force.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 12, 2007, 01:23:55 AM
I just assumed it would be fast. I thought once it enters the UK it gets sorted through customs, then gets passed on to parcel force, who then send you a letter, I then pay the charge online and arrange delivery the next day.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Martyn June 12, 2007, 01:26:29 AM
Yes! Once it gets through customs it will be fast. But the time between it leave the USA and is handed to Parcel Force could turn into a long process. It depends how many parcels come in on the flight and how busy customs are!

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: potter June 12, 2007, 01:29:44 AM
Thanks for help martyn, I just will keep looking on the tracking and see what happens, aslong as it comes within 2 weeks I don't mind, since im off work for 2 weeks makes it easier  :D

i think kbmum has posted them on the card list thread.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 12, 2007, 03:18:37 AM
I did.  But I can put them here, too. :)

costumes 1:24
autos 1:48
props 1:80
puzzle cards 1:5
R rare chase 1:8
UR rare chase 1:24

A typical box should have a costume, either an auto or a prop, 5 puzzle cards, 3 rare chase, and 1 ultra rare chase.  HOWEVER, it appears that two boxes in each case have only a costume and no auto or prop.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox

I am pretty happy as most props are good ones and my favorites from previous sets and the autos although some repeats are still pretty quality. Also a decent costume spread so not too dissapointed.  ;D

Well, it's not just him, it's Artbox that's insistent about respecting the release date. It looks like that seller "got the word" quickly and stopped posting additional items.

My case arrived today. ;) More news and scans on the 15th, but the first evening was spent with the first box and preparing the checklist. (There aren't any titles on the cards, so it's more of a challenge than usual!) I confirm kbmum's report on the insert ratios, though the odds for R and UR cards aren't mentioned on the pack. The puzzle cards are numbered Pz1-Pz9. Rares and Ultra-Rares displace two base cards in the packs that contain them, props and costumes displace more depending on thickness. Probably you can expect to get two full base sets from a box, but I didn't get a single copy of one base card with 2+ for the other 71. Perhaps that was just luck on which cards get displaced by the thicker inserts.

It's going to be interesting to see whether anybody has a scanner that can do justice to some of these cards!

For those that have purchased at least a case and opened them already - I know there is another thread for this but its locked. Could you give some insight on the costume, auto, and prop numbers in your case. And if you purchased more than one - did it seem to have a pattern with the inserts like the GOF cases?

If you mean the print runs for each insert, those are listed in the first post of the 3D card list thread.  If you mean how the cases break, there are 10 costumes, 5 autos, and 3 props per case, with the usual slight variations as we've seen with other HP sets.  There are rare and ultra rare cards, which IMHO are really nice.  There also seem to be patterns or case clusters, but we should know more about that on Friday when everyone can post their breaks.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Galea June 13, 2007, 08:07:01 PM
I'm curious about this release date rule. There's a few costume/prop cards on ebay right now, I'm sure someone will let them know and they'll end up removed but is this something that Artbox has explicitly told dealers to do? To wait until release date to list their cards on ebay and not to post any pictures in forums. Or is it common courtesy to those who haven't received their cases/boxes yet (like me lol)?. Or both?

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: kbmum June 13, 2007, 08:29:13 PM
Artbox started this rule a few sets ago.  They used to do staggered shipping to help even out when dealers received their cases.  Now they ship all at once, but set a release date for selling or displaying the cards.  It's a fairness issue to not have some sellers list items ahead of everyone else, especially since those first auctions tend to sell for higher prices than when many cards are available.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: sweinar2005 June 13, 2007, 11:20:22 PM
Tom Breyer was the distributor for those sellers that posted their cards early. He said that no cards,no scans, or presells of the insert cards were to be posted until the 15th. Because this was violated by a select few he will not do early shipping in the future. (Although - the way he said it was that those that made the violation would not get early shippments for future releases should they place orders with him).

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli June 13, 2007, 11:35:13 PM
you can't blame him for that after asking them not to and shipping them early so they had them by the release date, i would be very angry and would only send them at the earliest so that they arrive on release day for those that did that

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: ferdinand_the_yak June 14, 2007, 05:47:54 AM
That's just plain stupid violating an agreement with Tom (goose-egg, hand-biting etc.). Now those people have jeopardised the early shipping deal they had. More importantly, they've screwed over everyone else who DID do the right thing.

If I was a seller, I'd spend the extra few days sorting out what I had and making scans and getting auctions ready to pounce at 0:01 on the 15th ;)

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli June 14, 2007, 05:54:15 AM
my auctions are already uploaded to ebay and begin automatically listing a 12.15 AM on the 15th

I never got official word on the release date so when i heard I emailed artbox to check it isn't difficult to get it right

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: Bitsy June 14, 2007, 06:45:04 AM
Yeah, I really don't understand why people wouldn't respect the release date and rules. I mean, people might be upset at Artbox, but have respect for Tom--he's so great.

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: sweinar2005 June 14, 2007, 09:43:28 AM
Well I don't recognise any of the violator's Ebay IDs so it could be a case of ignorance and they just assumed if they received it they could post it. But I won't make excuses for them.

So for those of you that already have yours in hand any insight on my favorite topic - the variants.

Hi all,

I think it best if we all go by US times for this (by US, I mean California - Artboxland) just in case. The last thing we need is to get in to trouble with Artbox regarding release dates.

According to my useful (read: googled) time zone converter, when it is 12 midnight in LA, it will be 8am in the UK. I'll unlock both the breakdowns and scans/comments threads at that time - feel free to post away then. Here's the time zone converter I used for anyone else who needs to check times: http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

Obviously, when people post cards on Ebay is up to them. However, posting breakdowns/scans/photos etc on the Shack is off limits until midnight LA time.

Thanks for your cooperation :)

Well, I just broke my 3 boxes and while I cannot say anything about the cards I pulled, I don't think I will get in trouble for saying the following:

The packs are easy to open (thank god)
The cards are a little stinky...I washed my hands after opening the packs lol
The 9 Card Puzzle set is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. I wish Artbox would offer it as an uncut 9 card sheet.
I was very VERY happy with my pulls. No Radcliffe, but still very pleased  ;D

Can't wait to see everyones breaks in less than 24 hours!

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: allender June 14, 2007, 10:30:49 PM
Dang, midnight in Artboxland is 3 a.m. where I sit. I hope people will forgive me if I don't post the first case break. (I have a day job ...)  ;D

However, my scanner is hopeless with these cards. I can do card backs if anybody needs them for completeness.

People have been talking about how to value the base sets, so I'll share the observation that they're likely to be tougher than we thought. Half of my boxes provided no complete base sets and four others provided only one. The problem is, it was the same card (#24) that was short in every instance - replaced by extras for #34. It looks to me that somebody slipped a digit when they were collating, since the rest of it was near perfect. (The few extras from each box added together to give a good near-set 21 over ten boxes.)

I've already seen an auction for "set minus one" but it was a different missing number. So I don't know whether any card will be short-printed across the whole print run (I suspect not). If everybody's experiences are similar to mine but we have different missing numbers, we'll need to arrange a swap-meet to get us all out of our shorts.

Of course, when I saw which number was shorted, I knew that they must have used that card for 24 Season 4, 24 Season 4 Update, 24 Season 5, and 24 Season 5 Update.  :P

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox

Two more observations, based on arithmetic.

Some of the costume cards are numbered to 500 or 600. I doubt that they intended to make cases that had dupes for costume cards, and there's only 400 cases. I suspect we can predict some of the items that will be in San Diego goodie bags if such things are distributed. If you reduce all of total-run numbers to a maximum of 400 each, you still are slightly above 4000 when you add them all together. (Only one of the prop cards is numbered above 200, or 1:2 cases, and it's #-of-225.)

With 12 autographs in 400 cases, I assume that the "plan" was to have one Radcliffe or dual autograph card per case. If those four average 100 copies each, there's only enough room for an average insertion of about 200 copies for the other eight. Therefore, the "common" autos are going to be scarcer than they usually are -- or they're all very rare except for a couple.

I have been very lucky so far out of all the boxes I've sorted ive had 2 complete base sets from all boxes  ;D

My box had one base set and one card shy of a second set.  I'm missing card #4.  I had a hard time sorting the cards.  The color of the ink and the typeface were really hard to read.

I know what you mean, I tried getting my mum to help me sort out a base set, she found it really hard to see the numbers on the back and when I checked through the set to make sure it was correct she duplicated a few numbers  so in the end it was quicker to do it myself  :D

I think you will quickly see that some autos are more common than others with 3 in particular being the most common

NO WAY GIMLI!
Are you trying to tell me the Warwick Davies as Flitwick is going to be EASY to get? I think your numbers are off

: Re: World of Harry Potter 3-D, trading cards from Artbox
: gimli June 15, 2007, 12:28:35 AM
actually I would guess that there will be one in every case so at least 400 of those auto's will be floating around ;)

I really should go back and change that post i should have put flitwick on his own as the rarest :D

Sounds logical, especially based on how prolific the last three have been in signing for earlier sets. I'll use those groupings as a basis for the first predictions from breakdowns.  ;)

I don't think we'll see one of each of the "commons" in every case, but who knows yet?  (If 3 of the 5 auto slots from each case are predetermined, buying a second case to get a missing auto would lose most of its appeal. It seems that wouldn't be an effective business model for Artbox.)

Speaking of rarity, I had an email from SylvanLane Shoppe and I asked about the lenticular binder. They replied that they didn't have any in their cases  :o How hard is it going to be to get one of these?

how strange the top binder in my case was the 3D one

Looking at the Krum and Cedric dual makes me glad I got the GOF autos. They've really gone messy ;)

Well I don't recognise any of the violator's Ebay IDs so it could be a case of ignorance and they just assumed if they received it they could post it. But I won't make excuses for them.

So for those of you that already have yours in hand any insight on my favorite topic - the variants.

From what I can see there are going to be alot of varients for the wand box cards, the potion cards, the Maurader's Map Cards, the Court Paperwork Cards, and the divination cards.  I've seen two varients for Ci 2 the Dragon Selection Bag one is the bag itself and the other is the purple cord.  I've found four varients for the Karkaroff Costume Card one is all  light gray, another is all dark gray, the third is light gray/dark gray mix, and the fourth one has a dark gray line on a light gray background.  The Slytherin Scarf Costume card has the same varients as the SS cards all green, all gray, and a green/gray mix.  That's about all the varients I've managed to locate so far.

:)  When I first saw their autos for this set, I thought they looked "older" or more sophisticated--kind of fun to see how in just a short period of time, their signatures have already changed.

I've just posted Sharon's case breakdown. I'm sure she'll give her thoughts on it, but I was slightly underwhelmed  :( The cards are great but as soon as you pull a certain card, you pretty much know what, from previously posted breakdowns, you have got in the rest of the case. Collation issues with Artbox really need to be addressed. Would it have hurt to have shuffled the autos rather than pack them in batches?
