I think, some of the props look much better in person than scanned. But i was able to make 2 pics with my camera which are very close to the original look. Better than scanned ...

Thanks, i love my new card, but the one with the raven (and not only that one) is so amazing too, you can't say one is nicer and of course we shouldn't do something like that. Every variation is nice and we don't have a competition. :)  We only should enjoy every card which has been and will be posted here. :)

Competion ????? There will always be competion......or you wouldn't get variant cards at $300-$500
Or people using sniper programs when it's 4:00 a.m in the morning in their part of the world, if there was no competion.....it's not really this Forum where the competion lies.....showing the variants here ,I think is great and the best forum in the world bar none to see what sometimes a $10 to a $2000.00 looks like...there are allot of members in here , are about as close as they will ever be to seeing them, let alone owing one

Here's a question for all the howler owners:  Does the text look printed, or hand written?  I've been studying the prop that was posted and all the letters look so different from each other.  Meaning- I can't find a bunch of letters that look like they match.  All the "O"s look different, etc...
If it really is printed from a font, it must have about 8-10 duplicates of each letter!

wicked manddrake hp family, i dont know which variant of this card is the best :-\ the leaf or the root, your leaf prop scores one for the leaf's side with its wavey lines.

Ok, I think I posted this message in the wrong place originally, so I'm posting it here as well:

To anyone who has gotten a Mandrake Plant (brown/body version): Does anyone have one with tiny hairs all over it?

I just got it in the mail and the body of it has these little hairs sticking out of it.  I thought they might be from something the seller was wearing or something, but they are actually stuck in there.  Help--any thoughts?  ???

I'll try and get a scan of it--my scanner is on the fritz.  :P

I have a white patch on my Mandrake root that seems to want to stick on everything.  I try and get a scan of it up as soon as possible.

Bitsy I only have the leaf Mandrake root but I am pretty sure the hairs on your one will be part of the prop.  When you see them in the film they are 'fuzzy' and a bit stubbly.  It looks like your one was just growing it's first beard  ;D  Congrats ;D

Mine just has a tiny bit of hair.  He's just starting adolescents.  Not qouite ready to chop up and make potion out of him yet.

im also confused about ours lol, it looks printed but then like a pen it has inks blobs at the end of a letter where the quill would leave the page? either way im happy as its a fab card  8)

It's hard to tell, huh?  :-\ Mine has ink blobs too...but the majority of the letters
still look like they were "printed" rather than hand written to me! I am still
undecided!  :P

my scanners not too good, but you can see the tinge of the paper as well, it feels too smooth to be written on, its almost photo-like  ???

Kelly, have you been able to determine whether it is print or hand written?  I've been curious about this as well. 

It definitely looks handwritten to me.  I can see darker places in the N and at the tops of the Fs where the pen stopped or changed direction.  It makes sense.  Even if there were 20 copies of the letter, someone who does calligraphy for a living could whip those out in no time and have them look nearly identical.  It would be a lot easier than making a font to print.

I wonder if you can imagine how amazing it looks in person. Compare it with the picture of the whole Howler below. I'm almost sure, the tiny part of the letter is from the W of "Weasley". :)

I have no idea what's the correct word for the "dark thing around the howler", but it's a nice fabric piece.

WOW what a nice card i agree it looks like the top of the W in Weasley. I am 4 boxes into a new case at the moment and have found 2 props so far one is a Floo powder and my mom pulled a Fawkes Feather which is really nice is has 2 feathers on it with a fluffy bit in the middle of the feathers, I will get scans up once i finish the case.

There is reportedly a variant blue and yellow swatch somewhere, but it hasn't turned up yet (or the owner has kept it quiet).

I just bought this card.  Couldn't resist it.  The dealer had it at a 10% discount.  It's also the first card I've seen with the notes from the back of the book.  I'll post a scan of it with my other P7 Magical Me cards when it comes.

In my opinion, along with the Lockhard head shot, that's is one of the best swatches I have ever seen! Congrats Terry! :D

I remember when I first saw this card; I wondered where it had come from.  It didn't look like it belonged on the front of the book.  It wasn't until I got my latest Magical Me card and realized they were using the back of the book as well that I found out what that emblem is.  Actually I was trying to find out what the wording on my card was.  I decided to check out the back of the Gilderoy Lockhart prop book I own.


If you look at the bottom left, you will see the publisher's mark.  The publisher is Rumihart Books.



Tower's card has part of the publisher's emblem from the back of the book.  It amazes me how much detail they put into the props.  That part of the book only showed up on the screen for a few minutes, and Harry was using the book to swat at Cornish Pixies at the time.  The black smuge marks on the book are where Harry hit the pixies.

That is truly one of the best variants of this card I have seen! Congratulations--it is absolutely incredible! LOVE the writing and what it says is so cool!  :o

Picked up this Mandrake prop card.  Since I wasn't around when COS came out I don't know if this is a more common swatch or more rare????  Either way I think it is a cool prop.

That is a nice Hermione's sweater.  They are hard to find.  I don't think there is a standard one when it comes to the Mandrake cards.  Each of the leaf and root cards are a little different.  It's a nice one though.  Here's my latest COS card.  I finally found a Slytherin Christmas Cracker Card.  It makes a nice addition to my Gryffindor Christmas Cracker Card.  Two down two more to go.  I still need a Ravenclaw and a Hufflepuff to finish off the set.
