: Re: San Diego 2007 : Poisn*iv March 12, 2007, 12:14:02 AM I wrote it down. ;) Good to see you back online. Did you go to WonderCon? no... its too expensive for us to fly out to the west coast more than we have to! Celebrations will eat all that budget for us this year! but we'll be at Emerald City con in Seattle at the end of the month... : Re: San Diego 2007 : LMangue March 29, 2007, 11:58:59 AM I'll likely be there, I'm two hours away, so at least a day visit or two. :)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg May 02, 2007, 06:05:44 AM I'll be staying at the Sophia Hotel from 24th July so feel free to look me up - just don't ask for Bogleg

: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa May 02, 2007, 08:12:20 PM We'll be staying at the Hilton San Deigo Resort.
East Mission Bay Drive, from the 24th to the 31st Ask for Kelly and Phil Greco I'll probably be at the convention on Thursday night, then part of Friday and Saturday all day. The rest is family time. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon May 02, 2007, 08:20:03 PM I'll be there. Lets hope I am as lucky as I was last year.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 May 02, 2007, 11:23:20 PM Ah Kelly, I got excited. I am staying at the Hilton Gaslamp with my little brother.
We'll be getting there Wednesday the 25th in the afternoon and will be at the convention every day..we even decided to stay and do Sunday even though it is usually a bit lame. All the shackers need to meet up for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner one night. Or we should make some sort of Pin or sticker to wear...that way you could be walking around and bump into a fellow shacker you have never met. : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa May 03, 2007, 07:48:09 AM Or we should make some sort of Pin or sticker to wear...that way you could be walking around and bump into a fellow shacker you have never met. Ahem....Mark? How about a cute little Yak or pirate badge we could download and laminate? Pretty please? :o=: Re: San Diego 2007 : ferdinand_the_yak May 03, 2007, 08:52:51 AM We had some Yak badges ages ago. Mine is sitting in my top drawer :D I wonder if we have any left - Roz?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 May 03, 2007, 09:48:24 AM I still have a couple ID size laminates laying around, I would love to be able to print out something.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon May 04, 2007, 12:41:45 AM Boggy still has his Yak badge but other than that look out for the bloke in a West Ham shirt ;D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna May 04, 2007, 12:46:52 AM Boggy still has his Yak badge but other than that look out for the bloke in a West Ham shirt ;D Hee hee you might have to describe the colours of the shirt to non-UK members Sharon, as they probably won't know what they are. ;) ;D: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon May 04, 2007, 01:07:55 AM Actually you may be surprised ^-^. Last time Graham was in the US loads of Americans offered him big money for the shirt off his back, quite literally! But just in case I will make him a special sign, like a sandwich board, that reads 'Hi I'm Bogleg, are you a Yak' - that should get him noticed
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna May 04, 2007, 03:05:18 AM
: Re: San Diego 2007 : ferdinand_the_yak May 04, 2007, 05:19:59 AM West Ham? Booooooooooooo!

Dig out my ole backpack, clean it out, and then get all my extra sketches/autos/costumes into a binder in a nice neat order and put the binder into the backpack. : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa June 06, 2007, 03:59:01 AM I just ran across some auctions for SDCC exlclusives. I'm not sure how this guy knows what will be available, since last time I checked the SDCC website, none of these were listed. But how totally COOL! I need a Comander Cody bust, and a SDCC My Little Pony. Has anyone seen this Luna Lovegood bust?

Make sure you take an empty suitcase with some bubble wrap inside it to carry all your goodies back home with you! ;) ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz June 09, 2007, 02:41:57 PM Yay... I'll be there... only in December... any chance you guys could wait for me?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 June 15, 2007, 01:21:58 AM YAKSHACKERS MUST UNITE!!! Ok who is going and who wants to meet up for breakfast at my hotel (it is right across from the convention center, about a 60 second walk.) There is a good breakfast buffet place downstairs at the Hilton Gaslamp District. The buffet has lots of breads, fruits, breakfast meats, and pancakes or waffles. There is also a full menu if stuffing your face full of food isn't your thing. Once I get an idea if anyone is interested we can figure out the best day and a good time for everyone. The Hilton is also where a lot of celebs stay so we might just catch a couple at breakfast. Last year I saw Daniel Dae Kim and Jorge Garcia (Jin and Hurley from Lost) as well as Masi Oka (Hiro from Heroes) downstairs before they left for the convention. They were all VERY cool about photos and Jorge spoke to me for like 5 minutes about Lost. Was really cool. If anyone is interested, I will pick up the tab for the breakfast. Just need to know in advance how many to expect :) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Martyn June 15, 2007, 03:32:39 AM Would someone be able to pick me up some items from the con please. There are a few things i'm after. If someone is willing to help please drop me a PM
I'll pay all costs! : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa June 16, 2007, 03:21:50 AM YAKSHACKERS MUST UNITE!!! I've already booked up with Card Talk. It'll be great to meet some other Shackers ;D
30 DAYS UNTIL I ARRIVE IN THE USA ;D ;D ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz June 23, 2007, 04:39:23 PM That's a very kind offer Bryan... can I ask - has anyone informed the president of Boggy's arrival? He ought to be informed so that he can make 'preparations'.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa June 24, 2007, 03:14:48 AM I think the mayor of San Diego is shutting down some streets for Boggy's motorcade. It's been all over the news. We'll be in the parade crowd, so wave to us as you pass, Graham.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz June 24, 2007, 08:10:40 PM So exactly how many Shack folk are going?
Boggy Kelly Bryan Rich Jon Jfer21 Leah M Allison Anyone else? Need to send supplies with Boggy ;) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg June 25, 2007, 03:56:44 AM Bush has got twin daughters. What makes anyone think I'm going to make it to the show? :-*
: Re: San Diego 2007 : mcgonagall June 25, 2007, 02:09:50 PM well if anyone gets an extra auto or two just think of me am happy to pay for them
but everyone have a good time and enjoy : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 June 27, 2007, 07:00:07 PM Hey, I WON'T be in a costume and I am a Dork.
So I have Bogleg and Kelly so far. I will keep checking the thread to see if anyone else takes me up on it. It is looking like possibly Saturday or Thursday right now would be the best days. We'll pick a day once I leave some more time to hear from more people. Holy frak! Comic Con is less than a month away! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg June 28, 2007, 06:11:57 AM I'll be checking my emails every morning whilst I'm in the land of actors-can-rule-the-country. Anyone who wants to meet up with me (poor souls) are welcome to. Beware - your photo will be taken and may be used in evidence
ROZ I'm still waiting to hear the details of our upcoming liaison ;D :o >:D 0:) : Re: San Diego 2007 : jfer21 June 28, 2007, 12:24:58 PM Count me in! I wasn't sure before since I had to work out my schedule, but I'll be there all 4 days. I'll be taking the train down Thursday so that's a bad morning for me. Saturday sounds better.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Rich65 June 30, 2007, 12:01:42 PM Julie and I are for sure going we made our reservations and everything. My fingers are crossed but I think our room is going to have either a jacuzzi in it or at least a bath tub with jets in it. After spending the day on our feet that will be sooooo nice. ;D
We won't know what days will be free until we see a program. but we would like to meet up and meet those who are going. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 16, 2007, 02:10:59 AM ok folks, 10 days to go so I figured I would put up the anouncement:
UNOFFICIAL YAKSHACK BREAKFAST Saturday July 28th at 8:15 A.M. At the San Diego Hilton Gaslamp Disctrict. This hotel is located at 401 K Street directly across from the convention center (if you are at the halfway point in the convention center and you look across the road, you will see the Gaslamp Hilton) We will be eating at the New Leaf Resteraunt which has both a breakfast buffet, as well as a full breakfast menu. There is no cost to eat, so make sure you get there. So far, I have: Jfer21 Bogleg Kelly Rich and Julie (Maybe ??? ) Please let me know if I missed you so I can make preperations for everyone. The convention opens at 10am and the walk to the convention center is less than 5 minutes from the hotel. Starting at 8:15 will give everyone plenty of time to sit down and relax and enjoy breakfast and still have plenty of time to get to the convention center and get a good spot in the entrance line. If these plans don't work for anyone who I have listed just let me know. I have not had any Artists respond and they are of course welcome as well, just respond in this thread or pm me. : Re: San Diego 2007 : canny19 July 16, 2007, 03:05:03 AM Would someone be interested in picking me up a few cards?
I'm looking for: Lost Season 3 preview set (inkworks) SDCC 2007 pack (inkworks) Please e-mail or PM me. Thanks -- Chris : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg July 16, 2007, 03:32:20 AM My fingers are crossed but I think our room is going to have either a jacuzzi in it or at least a bath tub with jets in it. . I can't afford such luxuries so I just make do with baked beans for breakfast >:D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz July 16, 2007, 04:37:43 AM I can't afford such luxuries so I just make do with baked beans for breakfast >:D  ...says the 'poor' man who is flying five and a half thousand miles to be there! I really do feel very sorry for you :P Are you sleeping on the beach m'lad? Whilst you are there you could dig up some speed bumps, place them in a 'v' shape on the beach (point of the V facing the shore) therefore making an artificial surf reef and increasing the number of blue/green rooms. You could leave the hero of the place :P : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 16, 2007, 11:27:46 AM Great! I'll be there. Is anyone going to the Bionic Woman panel at 10:00? Come sit with me.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 17, 2007, 04:10:45 PM artbox have updated their website :o :o
well, with comic con info, not sure how long its been up. it says they will be at booth #2335. with harry potter exclusives and the usual goody bags and silent auctions. i would like to go, but living in the uk with family, it aint gonna happen! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Martyn July 17, 2007, 04:19:34 PM What are SILENT AUCTIONS?
Also would someone be to pick me up a Inkworks Promo Pack and Spiderman 3 Promo Card from Rittenhouse? Please PM me if you can help? ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 17, 2007, 05:37:34 PM silent auctions are where everyone who bids writes down the highest price they are willing to pay on a slip. This gets handed to the auctionier and whoever has bid the highest wins.
the idea is that no one knows what price anyone else has bid. i think that explains it ok. :) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 17, 2007, 09:11:59 PM they auction off complete harry potter master sets. Last year, I was second high bidder on every single get. one woman obivously with a lot of money outbid me at the last minute EVERY single night. It was so frustrating since I actually needed one of the sets being auctioned every day and she was obviously buying them to resell, who the heck needs 4 master sets from the same release. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
: Re: San Diego 2007 : gimli July 17, 2007, 09:17:07 PM I am really wishing that i was going this year but hopefully next year i will be there. The trouble with show exclusives is that we will all be on ebay trying to get one to complete our collection I just hope there are none as limited as the MM Trophy card from last year as I was never going to get one of those
: Re: San Diego 2007 : bush360 July 18, 2007, 04:26:22 AM Well I cant wait for it amongst collecting potter cards my brother is aiming at getting a full master set of supernatural. We would take up the offer of the yakshack breakfast but by Saturday we will be on our way to the lovely island of Aruba after enjoying preview night and thursday and friday.
We shoud try and have a way of noticing each other would be nice to meet some more shackers. ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 18, 2007, 06:08:45 AM Well I cant wait for it amongst collecting potter cards my brother is aiming at getting a full master set of supernatural. We would take up the offer of the yakshack breakfast but by Saturday we will be on our way to the lovely island of Aruba after enjoying preview night and thursday and friday. Giant Yak costumes. : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 18, 2007, 06:37:53 AM Does anyone know how many goodie bags artbox has for any given day and is there a 1 or 2 bag limit? The goodie bag line is going to interfere with Bionic Woman panel at 10:00.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 18, 2007, 07:09:57 AM they say 100, and they say 1 per person, but I have NEVER had a problem with getting them at all times of the day, and getting a lot more than just one.
I assume you mean the "mystery box" correct? : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 18, 2007, 07:12:25 AM I assume you mean the "mystery box" correct? Yes, that's what I meant. Thank goodness! I hate having to make the hard decisions! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 18, 2007, 07:33:32 AM well ok. let me branch out a bit.
two years ago, they were limited to 50, 1 per person, and there was a line and they sold out. last year, they said they had 100, but I went multiple times during the day and picked one or two up...my advice would be to go there first thing on preview night (I imagine they will have some for sale then) and ask them about them this year because who knows, maybe they went back to less and decided not to make as much money lol. : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 18, 2007, 07:37:12 AM I assume you mean the "mystery box" correct? Yes, that's what I meant. Thank goodness! I hate having to make the hard decisions! They're called "goody totes" this year, although I think that should be spelled "goodie." :) http://www.artboxent.com/index.php?main_page=page_2&cPath=80 : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 18, 2007, 08:07:48 AM Oh, goody! I'll get a couple of goodies!
Artbox is my 2nd stop on preview night. My first is the Kotobukiya booth for the Utapau Trooper http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/koto/news20070621.html (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/koto/news20070621.html) 3rd is the AFX booth to see about preordering a Galactica ship. Since this will be my one and only trip to SDCC, I've already got everything planned out! I'm such a nerd. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 18, 2007, 08:20:48 AM lol no way, I have everything programed into my iPhone ....... from programming, to movies, to booth locations
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 18, 2007, 09:08:52 AM lol no way, I have everything programed into my iPhone ....... from programming, to movies, to booth locations Yeah! I printed out the foor plan and marked each booth location I want to visit! And holy cow, you have an iphone? Where do you get all your money? Selling crack? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 18, 2007, 09:28:37 AM They had like 250+ mystery boxes last year. I managed to buy like 5 of them. The limited to 100 things you guys are talking about, are they the same or something completely different that I missed out on?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : rns91294 July 18, 2007, 09:42:16 AM I think everyone is talking about the mystery boxes, but Artbox did have other limited items. There was the tie set from all four houses, which I think was limited to 100 made. There was also the trophy card, and maybe some others, but I just can't seem to remember. I am sure someone else will.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : mcgonagall July 18, 2007, 10:03:09 AM well if anyone gets an extra one please keep me in mind lmao
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 18, 2007, 10:31:24 AM nope RNS, you were right, for Potter last year there were $75 mystery boxes, the 4 card set, and the trophy card. There were other exclusives though from other Artbox sets.
I was TOLD last year that they were limited to 100 mystery boxes but I honestly think they had MANY more each day. and Kelly, yeah, I got an iPhone...I buy whatever Steve Jobs tells me to ;D I have been an Apple loyalist since I was 12 and have converted a good 20 people to Apple. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Trey July 18, 2007, 11:07:07 AM well if anyone gets an extra one please keep me in mind lmao I will second that!! And im also after an Inkworks Promo Pack. If anyone can grab this and they are going can you PM me please. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 18, 2007, 11:17:00 AM I was TOLD last year that they were limited to 100 mystery boxes but I honestly think they had MANY more each day. Oh, I see what you are talking about. No, they had 100 per day. There were 500 boxes in total. I remember being told that there were 500 boxes for the entire con. There were indeed 100 Tie Sets (which didnt really have a purchase limit, more like one per visit). : Re: San Diego 2007 : blackcat20 July 18, 2007, 11:58:27 AM well if anyone gets an extra one please keep me in mind lmao I will second that!! And im also after an Inkworks Promo Pack. If anyone can grab this and they are going can you PM me please. Can I third that?! Id love a mystery/goodie box, but the US is a bit far for me to just "duck in" :P : Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 18, 2007, 12:43:58 PM There were indeed 100 Tie Sets (which didnt really have a purchase limit, more like one per visit). My certificate says 200. And there were 31 trophy cards. : Re: San Diego 2007 : mcgonagall July 18, 2007, 02:07:25 PM maybe we should sponsor an aussie to go for us lmao
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg July 20, 2007, 04:39:47 AM It really doesn't matter how many they have each day. There have been hints, promises and veiled threats that I won't be allowed back home unless I get back loaded with goodies
Bryan - How will I find you for breakfast? I don't think diners will take kindly to me asking if they are the ones dishing out free food  : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 20, 2007, 05:42:58 AM Bryan - How will I find you for breakfast? I don't think diners will take kindly to me asking if they are the ones dishing out free food  Yeah, same question. ;)BTW, if you see a woman at the Artbox booth on Wednesday night in a baseball hat, and carrying a messenger bag with a Flight Safety logo on the side-that would be me! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz July 20, 2007, 06:02:37 AM Hmm... badges would have been a good idea. Since you are rather an international group swapping mobile numbers isn't 100% helpful. PM some photos between you, and arrange a time, and you could all hold a carnation ;)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 20, 2007, 07:40:35 AM Ill be there, most likely wearing a black trenchcoat or a pink sweater with hearts and stars all over it. I wear red creepers. I have unique hair (cut short except my bngs hang down to my mouth), blonde, you wont miss me. ll probably be around the Artbox booth often.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 20, 2007, 07:44:39 AM Oh yeah, say hello.
I'll also be wearing an exhibitor pass. : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 20, 2007, 08:23:19 AM It really doesn't matter how many they have each day. There have been hints, promises and veiled threats that I won't be allowed back home unless I get back loaded with goodies  I know it wasn't Sharon who made "hints, promises and veiled threats." Oh no. She would have told you straight up to either bring home the bacon or suffer the painful consequences. ;) : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 20, 2007, 11:01:36 AM Ill be there, most likely wearing a black trenchcoat or a pink sweater with hearts and stars all over it. I wear red creepers. I have unique hair (cut short except my bngs hang down to my mouth), blonde, you wont miss me. ll probably be around the Artbox booth often. Whaaaa? ??? What's a creeper? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 20, 2007, 11:35:27 AM Haha. They are a type of shoe. I have a red pair and a white pair. White for the sweater, red for the coat.

I've finished work now until 13th August ;D I figured one week of San Diego, one week setting up my new computer - I know, but I'm usless at these things and I've had it since Easter and it's not out of the box yet - and one week recovery. I might even end up going to the IMAX with a certain second-in-command ;) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 21, 2007, 01:34:25 AM I know it wasn't Sharon who made "hints, promises and veiled threats." Oh no. She would have told you straight up to either bring home the bacon or suffer the painful consequences. ;)  You know me too well! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz July 21, 2007, 02:50:22 PM I might even end up going to the IMAX with a certain second-in-command ;) Sounds good to me :) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Poisn*iv July 21, 2007, 07:55:23 PM hey everyone! I'll be at booth 4607 with my boyfreind Adam Hughes. I'll be the one desperately trying to see what cool swag everyone NOT tied down to a booth is getting!!!!
Seriously; I'll have a bunch of sketch cards pre-done ( I've been in the Harry Potter frame of mind lately) as well as alot pencilled out, ready to be finished however you would like ( pencil, black and white or color). So swing by and visit me! Show me your cool stuff so I can live vicariously! : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 22, 2007, 12:17:45 AM I've already scoped you out Allison! You're diagonal from the AFX booth. ;) I'll be stopping by for a HP card.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 22, 2007, 07:44:18 PM wow!!! only 3 flippin days!
in regards to the breakfast saturday morning, finding my hotel is VERY easy as it is right across the street from the convention center, so if you take a taxi, bus, of streetcar there, all you have to do is look across the street from the center of the convention center, and there is the hotel. It is the Hilton Gaslamp district. if you would like exact directions just pm me and I will give them to you, but I promise you, if you can find the convention center, you can find my hotel for the breakfast. I cannot wait for this, there are so many good panals I am looking forward to, I am going to have such little time on the floor this year and it sucks. there is just to much to see. : Re: San Diego 2007 : tialessa July 23, 2007, 05:20:38 AM Could someone ask Artbox if they could please please PLEASE start returning voided redemption cards along with the autographs? The Inkworks policy of punching a hole in the redemption seems to work well. I hate the idea of not getting the redemption back which is their current policy...
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 23, 2007, 05:42:20 AM I'll ask them about it.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 23, 2007, 01:37:15 PM Well Boggy is safely in the Gatwick Flyer heading for the airport ;D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa July 23, 2007, 07:50:47 PM We're leaving the house tomorrow at 4am to catch a 6am flight. :P I won't be back online for a while because I need to get odds and ends together, so have fun reading the new HP book and I'll talk to you all later!
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 24, 2007, 01:22:59 AM I thought this might help anyone looking for my big brother at the convention ;)

Yes... I WILL Lead the revolution (ooer, sounds a bit like Umbridge) - did Boggy see that before he left? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna July 24, 2007, 02:57:20 AM  I somehow don't think so Roz - I reckon he would've confiscated it if he had don't you? :rofl:Yes... Well, I've found the convention centre and Horton Plaza (where I am at the moment) and a couple of pubs ;D The weather is sunny and HOT. I've only been mistaken for an Australian 3 time so far ::) Got shopping to do now. Reports will follow from Wednesday night. : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 25, 2007, 12:27:25 AM For anyone who will visit the Artbox booth, please remember to take lots and lots of pictures! :o= Oh, and ask about upcoming sets, whether OOTPU will be released in October, when the website will be updated, why they didn't put a Daily Prophet in the COS set... ;)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 25, 2007, 01:47:08 AM OK this is just plain scary. How comes Boggy has read this thread whilst he is 30 thousand miles away before me :o. OK I have no idea how far away the US is but I know it is a long way! Oh yes now I remember. I couldn't log on before because I spent four hours ironing every piece of clothing Boggy owns which had mysteriously found it's way into the washing pile before he left ::)
Anyway my bit of gossip that he arrived at 7.10 am our time and has already bought a pair of Levis seems a bit redundant now ;) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna July 25, 2007, 02:20:03 AM OK this is just plain scary. Expect loads of pictures and info. Ill try to squeeze as much as I can out of them. : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 25, 2007, 02:41:22 AM Thanks! You did a great job last year. :) The photos you took were very helpful for both the MM and COS sets. I'm hoping there will be OOTP costumes and props on display that will be used in the update set.

Well, woke up at 5:30am (EST) and got to San Diego at 1:00 (PST) long plane ride. Got to the hotel and had to wait two hours to get into a room but they finally got us into something, and upgraded our room too! Two hours from now my little brother and I are heading over to the convention center to pick up our passes and attend preview night. I will do my best to take a TON of photos and hopefully upload them every night. I created a Flickr account and got a little card to transfer the photos to my computer so hopefully everything works out well. : Re: San Diego 2007 : HPfamily July 26, 2007, 08:37:24 AM Well, I just talked to Kelly!!! She told me to tell everyone
HI!!!! She has picked up a few of the mystery boxes and thinks she needs to call her husband to come take the load....because they are heavy and doesn't want to lug them around!! She said the exclusives were already gone...they're only giving out 20 a day!!! BOOOOO!!! >:( I got to talk to Graham!!! ;D He was very funny!! LOOOOVE the Australian accent!!! ;D (JK) : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 26, 2007, 08:43:58 AM Last year, they had two exclusives -- the house ties set and the trophy card. Do they have one or two this year?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : HPfamily July 26, 2007, 08:46:09 AM Last year, they had two exclusives -- the house ties set and the trophy card. Do they have one or two this year? She only mentioned one...Death Eater masks! :-\ : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 26, 2007, 11:03:40 AM Only the death eater masks this year.
I had the most amazing luck tonight. I pulled a GOF Dan Radcliffe Auto in my first mystery bag. I also got 3 hobby OOTP boxes in my two mystery bags I bought, out of those three boxes, I pulled the Hermione Sweater, Weasley floral shirt, and a Rupert Grint auto redemption. Needless to say, it was a pretty amazing night. : Re: San Diego 2007 : jfer21 July 26, 2007, 12:28:42 PM Wow!!! Congratulations.
So how much did they cost? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bitsy July 26, 2007, 12:58:00 PM Major Congratulations! Those are some amazing pulls! :o What a great day you are having! :) I hope everybody has such great luck! :o=
So, does that mean that the Mystery Boxes (totes) this year have HOBBY boxes rather than RETAIL boxes? How much were they this year? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 26, 2007, 01:06:52 PM I'm really tired, so this may be incomplete, but here is a list of every little thing that I found out tonight during my short visit to the Artbox Booth:
Totebags are $75 and, unlike last year, are somewhat random. In my one tote I purchased tonight, I found: OOTP Binder COS Binder w/ Gold Promo Set OOTP Hobby Box POAU Retail Box POA Tin OOTP Red Promo Set WOHP 3D Ginny Weasley Auto GOFU C05 Harry Potter First Task Case Topper There a few exclusives for this year. Only one, though, is on sale at the moment as they are waiting for the others to arrive or be aproved. The current set is a jumbo set of Death Eater costumes, all three from the OOTP series, but a little bigger. They come in a nice black box that is numbered and are limited to 100. 20 are sold a day. They cost $200. Also on their reciepts, they have listed another few exclusives. I was told by one of the representatives there, whom, from last Comic Con, I have become pretty friendly with, that there was a prop set just like the Death Eater set that they are waiting on. He said thats all he could tell me, but I will try to get more out of him tomorrow. So Im assuming its another 3-card set, but just a set of props instead. There are also another 2 exclusives, that, as I was told, were either going to be sold at Comic-Con or online, that, to me, seem kind of cool. Very different, actually. The first is a a "HP crystal set" which is supposed to be a set of either costumes or props that are etched is crystal or something to that affect. His wording was confusing and I could tell he wasnt sure if he was willing to give out much info on them. The other set was what was labeled "HP plate set". This, I was told, just as ambiguously, was a costume or prop set that was actually inserted into plated metal. I have no idea what this is going to look like, but he assured me it was very cool. Hmm. Actually, Im not sure if the last two exclusives I mentioned even had props or costumes, I think that may just be wishful thinking on my part. Strangely, there were no Harry Potter costumes or props on display, just a whole bunch of 24 things. I am a little upset. I hope they find a way to display them. Alright, Im tired, so this is where I leave. I will stop by tomorrow night and give you another look into my purchases and maybe have some more info. I still need to ask whether or not Artbox can start sending redemptions back. By the way, I met Graham. Nice fellow. I love his accent. Im looking forward to meeting more of you, perhaps Graham can tell you what I look like. Goodnight everyone! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bitsy July 26, 2007, 01:11:14 PM Thank you so much for the information, Jon! Get some sleep and have fun tomorrow! Sounds like you had a great box as well! :)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 26, 2007, 01:13:51 PM Only the death eater masks this year. Wow! Congrats! That is an amazing set of cards you found tonight! I didnt get anything good. My one tote proved to be uninspired. Everything inside was probably worth just as much as the tote, really. Nothing special. My OOTP hobby boxed yielded a CFC8 Film Card and G15 Gryffindor Robes, like I said, nothing special. But I wont let it get me down, Im sure Ill find something good when I buy more tomorrow. Oh, I forgot to add that there are a couple exclusive autograph cards that are floating around in the totebags. A Barty Crouch Jr and Ginny Weasley, both from the World Of Harry Potter 3D set. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 26, 2007, 01:21:43 PM Er, nevermind, after looking up some prices, my tote wasnt bad at all. That First Task Potter probably fetches $40-50.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Trey July 26, 2007, 01:23:40 PM Jon thanks for all your info, thats awesome!!
I am certainly jealous...we have no chance of getting one of those Artbox totes stuck here in Australia. Or any of the comic con exclusives ::) I think you did pretty good on your tote bag anyway, lots of goddies there!! : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 26, 2007, 05:17:07 PM Thanks for the reports! In a way, I'm not surprised that Artbox didn't have any HP stuff on display. At the spring Philly Show, they had very little and wouldn't allow anyone to take pictures. Maybe Warner Bros. told them they couldn't display items, because there was no way to prevent pictures at SDCC. :-\
For $75, I think you received a lot! The hobby box and two binders alone are worth the cost. :) I can't believe that they didn't have all of the show exclusives ready -- it isn't as if they didn't know the date by which everything had to be approved and manufactured. I'm not interested in more Death Eater costumes, but the other items sound interesting. I wouldn't mind if we could buy things from the Artbox website, but since there's no info on the site about COS, 3D, or OOTP, I'm not sure they're ready for an online store. Did they say anything about upcoming sets? : Re: San Diego 2007 : canny19 July 26, 2007, 05:59:04 PM :( i was hoping that I could have maybe picked one up....
still i am hoping that e-bay will have a few pop up :) thanks for the info people :D Have a ncie time ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : De Orc July 26, 2007, 06:46:08 PM Sounds like you guy's are having a great time ;D some realy great pulls as well & I cant wait to see the pics ;D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 26, 2007, 07:09:04 PM I am really hoping they have more exclusives, I thought I read somewhere they were doing something with the death eater masks for the con, so I would imagine those would be the props if they show up.
Last night was so much fun (other than loosing my 14 year old brother for 30 minutes and almost having a panic attack) i had the most amazing pulls of my life and the last 30 minutes of preview night was spent completing a HUGE trade that included me getting both of the Dual Auto Battlestar 6-case incentives and two of the Complete Bond Casino Chip prop cards. I was able to run into Kelly and Graham and I hope if they read this I did not come off as a jerk lol, I was a little short with both of you, but by the time I saw you my little brother was supposed to be back at the Artbox booth and he wasn't so I was freaking out a little and it was right after I met you that I could not find him for 30 minutes (he was of course, getting sketches in artist alley) so I apoligize if I seemed short with you. I hope you guys had great pulls in the mystery bags and I am sure I will see you again before Saturday, more than likely at the Artbox booth : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg July 27, 2007, 04:32:10 AM Hello. Nothing much to report. Same old same old
It is AMAZING!!! I'm in geek heaven. The tote bags were a varied lot. I joked with Kelly that I would get a Warwick Davis. This was just after Bryan had showed me his Daniel Radcliffe. Hey presto, Warwick appeared in my bag ::) Luckily, a lady in front of me had bought 2 identical bags so she swapped ;D Sharon's picture of me worked, as Bryan, Kelly and Jon all recognised me. You have got to realise that I can't say much Potter related as Sharon will be reading. Suffice to say, she'll be pleased when I get home. I am going back to the Con now. Only stopped off to do a goodie drop in my room. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna July 27, 2007, 04:33:52 AM Sounds good Graham - glad you're having a great time and we'll ALL be wanting to know what goodies you've got!! ;) ;D ;D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : canny19 July 27, 2007, 08:07:52 AM Someone has already hit :ebay:............. here is the link:

: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bitsy July 27, 2007, 08:42:27 AM I saw one auction for the Death Eater set. I think the start bid is around $799 with a Best Offer option.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 27, 2007, 08:58:08 AM yes it is and it needs to be more than $300 for your offer. thats what i offered anyway. and was declined. :(
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Trey July 27, 2007, 10:15:21 AM ::) I think that is silly...why would anyone pay a whole heap when they are originally $200. I think that $300 was quite a good offer actually!
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 27, 2007, 12:32:53 PM Some updates. I asked about the redemption cards and I was told that they would probably never have a system where you get it back. They keep the cards for their records, so they just cant give them back.
First thing in the morning I was confronted by Bryan. Nice firm handshake did the trick and he was off to the end of the Artbox line. He was talking with Graham during most of the que and all I could manage from my position was a brief "hello, thank you, nice to see you" sort of ordeal. Im really glad you all recognize me. Its the shoes, isnt it? I met Kelly today. Extremely nice person. She even entrusted me to do a favor for her tomorrow! Im honored! I hung out with her for a bit, as our collecting interests intertwined at the monstrosity that was the Hasbro booth. Mobs, Im telling you, and Im sure Kelly is telling you, were everywhere, all in the name of the precious tickets that secured your spot in the next days line. My goodness, people were throwing their children out to the front just to get a ticket, it was rediculous. Unfortunately, Kelly and I failed to snag one, but I am going to try again tomorrow for the both of us. And, like yesterday, I hung out with Graham for a bit at the Artbox booth, Sincerely, you lot are all very friendly and kind people. Its really nice. I missed out again in the Death Eater set. I was 21st in line, while only 20 could walk away with the box. I did, though, pick up another two goodie bags to make myself feel better. It was a good choice. Let me break them down for you: Box #1: OOTP Lenticular Binder MM Binder (w/ Promos) OOTP Red Promo Set POA Tin OOTP Retail Box OOTP Hobby Box GOF Fleur Delacour Auto MM DC1 Ron Costume VARIANT. Has a bit of read peeking from the bottom. I assume its part of the sweater's collar. 209/310 Case Topper Hobby Box contained: C3 Herminone Sweater 070/250 Filius Flitwick Redemption Box #2: OOTP Lenticular Binder MM Binder (w/ Promos) OOTP Red Promo Set POA Tin POAU Retail Box OOTP Hobby Box WOHP Barty Crouch Jr Auto GOFU C1 Lucious Malfoy Robe 064/475 Case Topper Hobby Box contained: C12 Dumbledore Costume 375/560 P12 Death Eater Mask 003/100!!! ;D I think I did pretty well. :) Im really happy about the Death Eater Mask. If anyone is interested in the retail boxes, let me know. Im also selling the Lucious Malfoy, Hermione Sweater, and the Ron Variant. If youre interested, just send me an offer. You all know what I collect, so trades are good too. I'm still looking for Last number and 001/xxx cards, so give me a hollar. Nice variants from OOTP are welcome as well. Thank you everyone! Have a lovely day! Goodnight! : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna July 27, 2007, 09:11:26 PM I hope Kelly sees this:

Suffice to say, she'll be pleased when I get home. It is OK, you can tell everyone. I'm not reading this thread, honest 0:) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg July 28, 2007, 12:18:54 PM Major Congratulations! Those are some amazing pulls! :o What a great day you are having! :) I hope everybody has such great luck! :o= The mystery tote bags were a mixed bunch. Some had a Hobby and a Retail box and some had two Hobby boxes. Luck of the draw ::) No sell sheets at the stand :( The 3 card special will have to stay that unless I injure someone ;D One lady that was queuing up said last year she got two trophy cards (as a dealer) so this year she's got her friend to queue up as well so she will end up with at least 4 limited boxes >:(So, does that mean that the Mystery Boxes (totes) this year have HOBBY boxes rather than RETAIL boxes? How much were they this year? : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 28, 2007, 06:46:20 PM Someone at Artbox had once mentioned that they might change the way the show exclusives were distributed to give everyone a chance to get one. I think it was supposed to be some sort of daily lottery. Looks like they backed down from that, which really isn't fair. >:(
Graham, does Kelly know you maim for goodie bags? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 29, 2007, 02:15:54 AM Guess who I spoke to today? Kelly ;D ;D ;D And she asked me to say to everyone on the Shack ... HEY ;D ;D ;D. She has the most wonderful American accent, which isn't surprising as she is American but I sort of forget about how we all sound on the Shack ;D
Her and Boggy were queuing up to get into a talk about the Bionic Woman but weren't too confident - apparently the queues were huge. So far someone has kicked Boggy in the ankle (accidentally) and during a stampede by photographers to get Jessica Alba's picture one of them broke his toe :-X. He said next year he is taking the steel toecap boots he wears for work  : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 29, 2007, 03:17:38 AM Oh no! Sixteen hours from the UK to San Diego, a Flitwick auto, and now a broken toe! Will the bad luck never end?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 29, 2007, 03:24:33 AM  Oh don't worry, this is nothing to Boggy. My dad says Graham takes after his grandad and he had the nickname 'Ham Fisted Harry'  Which is even funnier when you know his name wasn't Harry  Beside he sounds like he is having a whale of a time. I just hope he and Kelly managed to get into the Heroes talk :o=
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 29, 2007, 08:39:01 AM Is there any info about Artbox's silent auctions?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 29, 2007, 09:25:28 AM I won a Chamber Master Set from the one two nights ago ;D ;D
They aren't silent, everyone stands around and writes down their bid, it is basicly a live auction. Today was OOTP master set, not sure how much it went for, tomorrow is something special that they will not talk about, I have a feeling it is possibly every potter set so far. : Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 29, 2007, 10:27:33 AM :o OMG!!
so wish i was there for these auctions. what prices did they go for??? : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 29, 2007, 11:09:57 AM I got the Chamber set for $1700 which might be a BIT high (although I think they sell for around $1900 on ebay) but you should see some of the variants. beautiful
: Re: San Diego 2007 : The Razzer July 29, 2007, 11:47:41 AM that's not bad price, works out £850. the duelling club cloth gets an eay £150 on its own. well done!
: Re: San Diego 2007 : mcgonagall July 29, 2007, 11:58:42 AM I hate Artbox it would be nice if they had the exclusive available for other countries too could someone have a word to the guys at artbox and tell them that there are a few aussie that would like a chance to get a tote bags or exclusive. please thank you
: Re: San Diego 2007 : terryweasley July 29, 2007, 01:16:00 PM I got the Chamber set for $1700 which might be a BIT high (although I think they sell for around $1900 on ebay) but you should see some of the variants. beautiful That was a good price. I paid over US$2600.00 for one on ebay, but it did have some fantastic varients in it. : Re: San Diego 2007 : De Orc July 29, 2007, 06:07:02 PM I agree with mcgonagall, they realy do need to realise that it is not just Americans who buy there products :( anf I honestly think the same applies to the other card companies LOL ok moan over ;D Keep the reports coming guy's & Boggy dont forget to sue the show organisers for your broken toe LOL unless of course they are willing to bribe you with some goodies >:D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 29, 2007, 06:59:02 PM Okay, another question. :) Did the other Artbox show exclusives, the ones Jon mentioned, ever turn up?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : mcgonagall July 29, 2007, 07:01:40 PM the is a barty crouch jnr auto card that is exclusive to the event not sure if anyone has meantioned that
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg July 29, 2007, 10:00:16 PM Unless they spring something today, all the exclusives have been mentioned. There will be a loooong posting when I get home.
BTW, me and Kelly did get in to see The Bionic Woman ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna July 30, 2007, 12:47:20 AM Can't WAIT to read about all the goodies you've got, who you've seen and all the rest of it Graham!!
Hope you have a good journey home and no more broken toes eh!? ;) ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum July 30, 2007, 03:37:20 AM the is a barty crouch jnr auto card that is exclusive to the event not sure if anyone has meantioned that There are two 3D autos, Barty Crouch Jr. and Ginny, that were randomly packed in the totes along with the other inserts. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon July 30, 2007, 08:32:02 AM WOW. That was quite the adventure. I finally got my Death Eater set, and so did my brother. I managed to pull some good cards, too. Once Im done putting everything away, listing what needs to be listed, scan, photograph, and getting completely settled, Ill give a breakdown of my pulls and the fun I had at the Con. So Ill post later tonight, or perhaps sometime tomorrow. I hope everyone who went had a blast!
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 July 30, 2007, 09:04:15 PM I will also write a big report about all the cards pulled, celebrities seen, and people met.
I had a blast. It was nice meeting some Shack members and I hope next year the number of us there will grow. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon July 31, 2007, 01:09:12 AM Well the last I heard Boggy was still stuck as San Diego airport so at this rate he might be the first person there for next year ;)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : rns91294 August 01, 2007, 04:12:51 AM Does anyone know how many goodie totes they sold per day (approximately)? I know the 3D OOTP binder was supposed to be in 100 per day, but then I read elsewhere that they only gave out 50 goodie totes per day. Is this true? If so, every tote woul dof had the 3D binder, right? I am so confused. All I know is that I would have loved to have gotten my hands on one. Wish I could have been there.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 01, 2007, 06:14:46 AM There were supposed to be 100 tote bags given out a day, with a total of 500 for the entire Con. I know in the mornings they sold out of the 100 totes in the first twenty minutes, but they somehow managed to sell a few more mid day. My only guess is that they sold exactly 100 bags a day, even though they had "sold out" in the mornings. I figure this because there was a 2 bag limited per person, per day. So, in the mornings, they assumed everyone was buying two bags and they capped the line to 50 people. I, some days, only bought one bag, as Im sure others did as well. So, if they didnt sell any bags to those not in line, they should then have some left over for the afternoons. If that was indeed the case, then there were only 100 bags a day and 500 for the entire Con. Hope that all makes sense.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : savage727 August 01, 2007, 06:21:56 AM Did anyone see any Lord of the Rings items at this years Comic Con? Thanks. :) I know Sideshow and Gentle Giant should have. :)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 01, 2007, 06:44:13 AM Gentle Giant had a Glorfindel bust for one of their exclusives. It was limited to 500 and practically impossible to get a hold of. Sideshow didnt have one this year. Im not sure if any other companies had LOTR exclusives.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 01, 2007, 07:33:42 AM I'm BACK!!! And I'm totally exhausted! One kid is in bed, so I had a chance to open my OoTP hobby box, but nothing really great to report on that. I got a film card and a Griffindor robe. I guess now I'll have to get the Slytherin and Ravenclaw to match! I pulled a George quidditch robe from my tin, so that was kind of cool. My other cards were Gryffindor students from SS, Lilly Potter auto, and a brow Krum costume. All are up for trade. ;) I honestly don't know how you guys carried around 2 of those bags at a time, I nearly pulled my back out!
So-It was GREAT meeting everyone! Thanks for breakfast, Bryan, that was cool to have everyone together. ;D Graham is the nicest guy, Sharon. You're lucky to be his sister. He not only let me borrow his camera while he was in the Heroes panel, but he also got me a bathroom pass on the way out so I could get back in for Battlestar Galactica. 8) No waiting in line and I actually got pretty close to the front. I thought I got a lot more photos of the Con than I did. Most of mine are of my husband and kids at the zoo and parks, but I'll put them up on Photobucket tomorrow and post a link. Jon is right, the Hasbro booth was insane. I didn't get a Little Pony or my Galactica ships. :'( That is unless Jon came through and snagged a ticket. :o= I'll PM you in a sec, Jon. I thought the Bionic Woman panel was good and I'm looking forward to seeing the show, but the most kick a** of all was the preview of The Sara Conner Chronicles! WOW! If that show doesn't take off I'll be totaly suprised. The best part-teen John Conner is running for his life amongst a hail of bullets, running from the huge cyborg guy, when all of a sudden his classmate (Summer Glau) runs over the cyborg in her pick up truck, flings open the door and says "come with me if you want to live!" The place went WILD! I'm hooked. My costume got good reveiws too. Lots of people asked me to pose for photos, and although I'm not all that outgoing, I loved it! I also met up with a couple of other guys I know that were wearing flightsuits. I think Graham should have a picture of that. ;) : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 01, 2007, 05:41:08 PM I'm so jealous! ;) I'd love to be able to go to SDCC, just once. Were you able to get any autographs or celebrity pictures? The My Little Pony exclusive sold out very quickly, and they're pretty expensive on eBay right now. :-\ I read a lot of complaints about the Hasbro booth on a MLP forum. Anyway, I can't wait to see your pictures (and Graham's, too). :D
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Tom Bombadil August 02, 2007, 12:30:45 AM Hi Kelly,
Just in case no one was able to get you the Hasbro Battlestar Gallactica set, Hasbro does have them available through their website while supplies last: http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByCategory.htm?CD=96 Most of the other exclusives they posted in their store have already sold out (including My Little Pony), but at least you can still that that set online if you need to. Hope that helps. I grabbed 1 of the "pimp daddy" Destro GI Joe figures from the site store on Monday before they sold out. I was happy since i wasn't able to go to comiccon. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon August 02, 2007, 01:11:20 AM Graham is the nicest guy, Sharon. You're lucky to be his sister. Yep I know ;D ;D ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Roz August 02, 2007, 02:05:28 AM I can't wait to see yours and Boggy's piccies.
I honestly don't know how you guys carried around 2 of those bags at a time, I nearly pulled my back out! Not sure who you are talking about here, but if it's Boggy, I've seen him whip a bag with... get this... 2 10 box cases onto his back and carry them considerable distances and on and off public transport, he's a trooper and a cart horse and a man of many secret talents. Not sure about 'nice' though - cheeky/quick/hilarious/genius ... YES : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg August 02, 2007, 06:03:13 AM Not sure who you are talking about here, but if it's Boggy, I've seen him whip a bag with... get this... 2 10 box cases onto his back and carry them considerable distances and on and off public transport, he's a trooper and a cart horse and a man of many secret talents. I posted a box of goodies via UPS on Friday afternoon. The weight of it was 34lbs - one trip only :o I prefer wirey with a hint of brawn :rofl:Full report and pics by the end of the week. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Rich65 August 03, 2007, 12:14:22 PM Hi Everyone
Here's the rundown for Julie and I: My wife and I had a lot of fun. We got to meet Nicolas Cage and his son Weston and they were both great ;D. We got into both Stargate signings and My wife was so jazzed SG-1 is her favorite show :D. She got into the signings for Blade Runner and 30 Days of Night so I got to tease her about having to look at Josh Hartnett :-* who she said was very nice I had to settle for meeting Rosario Dawson 8) I know Life's Rough. She is so sweet and I got a really nice picture with her.I got a ticket for the Supernatural signing which Jensen Ackles was there for and the wife got to meet Kevin Bacon. Again she was very happy. Some of the other people we met were George A Romero,Kane Hodder,Danielle Harris,Tobin Bell,Sydney Poitier,Richard Hatch,Jenna Jameson,Laurel K Hamilton and Michael Madsen. We had a blast with very little disappointment. We did get some of the Harry Potter bags and we pulled a exclusive Ginny auto and the 9 card 3-D promo set and a 10 case memorable moments incentive card out of three bags. I did do some trading and I picked up a Veronica Mars season 2 Kristen Bell auto, a 6 case incentive Roger Moore auto, Gina Torres and Adam Baldwin autos which finished my Firefly set and I got the cream of the crop for Harry Potter prop cards. The 25 case incentive Harry Potter wand card numbered 16/28 ;D. I was very happy with those trades. Take Care Everyone. : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 04, 2007, 01:53:17 AM Hey everyone! Kay, so this is just a breakdown of my pulls at Comic Con. So here are the statistics:

I would say thats an awful good deal for only $300 spent. The Death Eater mask is worth almost that much by itself. Im still writing about my Comic Con experience, detailing as much as I can and I probably wont be finished for a while. Its like a journal entry really and I will post it for you to read when Im finished. I cant wait to see the breakdowns from some of the others. Most of the cards I pulled are for sale or trade. There should be pictures and a list (with prices) on my sale page. Heres a link to it if youd like to take a look. http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,5362.0.html Thank you to everyone who I met at Comic Con this year, it was truly fantastic to have talked and laughed with each of you. I cant wait until next year! : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 04, 2007, 06:44:49 AM Hey, where were your case toppers? In the little plastic case with the inserts, cause I didn't get any of those. :-\ Maybe you got case toppers instead of a second set of promos? I got OoTP red promos and extra SS sets.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 04, 2007, 07:03:58 AM The tote bags were really random this year. I actualy recived the case toppers in the little clear insert box. My brother got film cards and an extra prop card in their place. Theyre nice to resell, but I would have like to have pulled extra prop cards. Wow, I thought the SS sets were only in last years boxes. Are they the special foil print run?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 04, 2007, 07:43:17 AM Two auctions for tote bags ended today. I know they're fun to get, but I really don't understand why people would pay $223.27 and $203.26 for them. You can buy the items (except for the bag itself) for $200 or less.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130139488429 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130139487894 : Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 04, 2007, 08:27:03 AM Ridiculous, really. Did you see the inserts they offered? Both are Igor Kakaroff cards. That, with the variety of these bags, would not be possible, nor would they be that crappy. It seems like this person might have switched out a good card for a common.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 04, 2007, 09:57:56 AM Wow, I thought the SS sets were only in last years boxes. Are they the special foil print run? Oops, sorry, I mean to say CoS. Not SS.: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 04, 2007, 10:16:20 AM Wow, I thought the SS sets were only in last years boxes. Are they the special foil print run? Oops, sorry, I mean to say CoS. Not SS.Is the entire set sealed? If it is, crack it open. It seems every year they sprinkle a few test run base sets with a different foil into a few lucky goody bags. Last year it was SS. I believe the year before that was POA or POAU. The Azkaban ones were really rare and were worth a ton. The SS wasnt as scarce and were worth, I think I saw, like 40 or 50 dolloars at their peak. : Re: San Diego 2007 : potter August 06, 2007, 04:28:53 PM Did anyone who went to Comic Con ask Artbox when they plan to release OOTPU?
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 06, 2007, 05:36:07 PM The update set was going to be released in August, then it was moved to October. Now, I've heard a rumor that it will come out late fall or early winter, before the end of the year. Artbox moved the release date for 24 Season 5 from June until October and supposedly canceled the 24 Season 5 Expansion Set. Maybe the rush to release so many sets in one year has finally caught up with them.
Personally, I hope OOTPU isn't released until November or December. I need time to recoup from 3D and OOTP. :-\ : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 August 06, 2007, 06:14:39 PM I was simply told Quarter 4.
So my guess is November. : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 06, 2007, 06:23:54 PM Let's say OOTPU comes out in November 2007. The Half-Blood Prince movie will be released in November 2008. What filler sets will Artbox release between those two sets? It's a bit scary to contemplate.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 06, 2007, 08:01:49 PM Something with sketches would be nice! >:()
: Re: San Diego 2007 : ferdinand_the_yak August 06, 2007, 08:25:15 PM A sketch set would be awesome. It would be perfect if released in May or so.
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 06, 2007, 08:40:51 PM Some artists on Scoundrel said they sent samples to Artbox. When Artbox showed them to Warner Bros., only a few were approved. :-\
: Re: San Diego 2007 : tialessa August 06, 2007, 08:42:28 PM I'd love to see a sketch set, but they NEED to space out their products more.... I'm having a difficult time keeping up (as are many of the rest of you)...
: Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 06, 2007, 08:51:28 PM I'm in the same boat as you. I've seen some really great deals on eBay for both 3D and OOTP, but have had to pass on most of them. :'(
: Re: San Diego 2007 : Jon August 06, 2007, 11:24:48 PM Okay, Im sorry for not mentioning this before. Here is a small explanation I was given:
The Order of the Phoenix Update set will be out at the end of the year. They want it out before Christmas (of course), but the way I was told, it seems it wont be out until maybe just weeks prior. I also asked about future sets and I was told that there will be a minimal amount of sets released next year, most likely only one, and i assume that will be the Half-Blood Prince set. There have just been too many HP sets released this year and they want to slow down and expand on their other sets. There will be, though, some exclusive mini sets (kind of like the Death Eater sets) released soon or perhaps early next year for those who just cant wait for more cards. There were also two card sets that were listed on the employee record slips at the Artbox booth. I asked about them and was told that they may be at the Con (they never made it), but if they werent, they would be offered as exclusives on their website or perhaps through dealers (I think). The first was a "HP Plate Set" which was described as cards in metal plating. Im not sure if they are just regular cards or if they have pieces of costumes or props in them. The second was "HP Crystal Set", which, I was told, was a set of cards with crystal etching, and, like the other set, Im not sure what kind of cards they are. We joked about their website and how it has been two and a half years since their last update. Hopefully they will update it a bit more in the near future along with openning up some kind of online store where exclusives (like promo sets and the card sets mentioned before) will be offered. Hope this info helps. :) : Re: San Diego 2007 : HPfamily August 06, 2007, 11:27:50 PM YAY!!! They're slowing down on the HP sets!!
I can not tell you how happy I am to hear that!! : Re: San Diego 2007 : kbmum August 06, 2007, 11:37:05 PM There have just been too many HP sets released this year and they want to slow down and expand on their other sets. They finally realized they're killing the HP market! I can't imagine that dealers are too happy with how cheaply many of the HP and OOTP cards have been selling. Plus, sellers took a hit with MM in October and COS in December. I'm fine with mini-sets and exclusives to fill the gap between big sets. :) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg August 09, 2007, 06:26:10 AM Well it's been just over a week since I got back. No more Boggy on tour. I had some great advice before I went...take it slow and don't try to do it all.
First off, "take it slow"   That was the only way. The shear volume of bodies prevents anything else. Just to make sure, within 5 minutes of entering the hall on preview night, a woman of Hulk Hogan proportions decided my ankle was preferable to the floor. And of course, I was in the wrong ::) Thanks to Sharon's "It seemed funny at the time but I forgot my birthday's coming up" picture, I got recognised by Kelly, Jon, Bryan, Jennifer (Jfer21) and several unknowns who are guests on the forum. Each day had it's highlights. Friday's was meeting Jennifer at the Card Talk breakfast and her very generous offer of giving me her freebie from the meeting - a DVD box set of the 3rd season of 4400. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. Saturday was the busiest. Breakfast at the Hilton - many thanks Bryan - getting in the longest queue ever with a fully costumed Kelly to see the pilot of The Bionic Woman and getting Kelly to speak to Sharon on the phone "she sounds so American" , getting a "bathroom" pass so me and Kelly could swap places for her Battlethingy Whatica presentation, having yet more people saying hello (I had the custom shirt on) and finding out I was one number away from winning a Heroes autograph card (Clair) and one number away from the "right to buy" raffle on the Artbox stand. Second off, "don't try to do it all" First you need to make a list from the web site as to what events and meetings you want to go to. You then look at all those that clash and flip a coin. You then get your events schedule when you regester and see all the extra bits that wasn't on the site and chaos ensues. I got to see Bionic Woman and Heroes (no info for the new season but Kevin Smith is directing one of the six filler episodes) but couldn't get in to see the new Superman animated feature, "Doomsday". I got there at 7.45pm for an 8.30 start. Not only was the hall full but the queue for the 10.30pm showing had reached capacity as well :o The trading card meeting was very poorly attended - about 30 people including two reps from Sony who had heard that the card market was in decline and a voice artist who wanted to know what trading cards were but soon lost interest and left. The meeting was held and organised by the publisher of Non-Sport Update, Roxanne Toser. The biggest anomaly of this meeting was that although Inkworks, Topps, Upper Deck and Artbox had stands at the show, none attended but Rittenhouse, in the form of Steve Charendoff, who didn't have a stand, did. Being the shy and retiring type that I am, I only had one question/statement about multi-case incentives and how I hate them (for being out of the reach of mere mortal's pockets) and if the product is good enough, the dealers wouldn't need incentives to take extras. All in all, I wouldn't have missed this for the world. Met nice people who were gracious enough to let me be in their company, mixed with thousands of like-minded geeks and generally felt like a 10 year-old in Santa's factory. Everyone should go once. Ride of a lifetime ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Error401 August 09, 2007, 03:41:43 PM Hi Bogleg
Glad you got back ok, and are recovering, Nice chatting to you in the line at Inkworks for autographs (Can't remember which auto for the life of me!!) First Year is always tough, Shin Pads are Steel Toe Caps are recommended.! This was our 10th Year at the show and it doesnt get any easier. (Maybe its me getting older). Hope you will be back next year and encourage more to attend, its great to see the Brit contingent increase each year You will have to join the "Do San Diego On a Budget Club", We have several Members now, who come over with us and stay a outside the city and save on Hotels Share cars etc This Year we stayed in Carlsbad 30 Mins North of the Show, in a nice hotel suites with Full Kitchen etc at $50 US a night (Lot cheaper than near the show, even cheaper if you share), we have sort of refined cost cutting over the years (using Frequent Flyer Miles to fly Free to the show etc). We took Paul Hart & John The Hat from Cardtalk this year and travelled as a group (We are encouring San Diego On a Budget!!!) ;D Cheers Richard & Vicky (501 Cards) : Re: San Diego 2007 : Sharon August 13, 2007, 01:20:41 AM Well Boggy's huge box of goodies has arrived ;D. It actually arrived on Tuesday but we have been having problems with the internet, otherwise I would have been shouting about my tote bag much sooner ;D ;D ;D
It is so much nicer than I was expecting. It is a huge, cream, canvas zip up bag and I can now see why Kelly struggled carrying it - it is really heavy. I had a tote bag extra ;D ;D. Graham had bought a David Tennant show special and put it in the bag and swapped the retail box for a hobby box - and that was the best bit. I got better cards in the two boxes of OotP than I did in my whole case. Well I had to get lucky sometime. I got a really lovely Owl prop and, wait for it, I got a Daniel Radcliffe redemptions ;D ;D ;D. I am lucky enough to have a Ron from a previous set but this is my first single Harry. I also got a beautiful 3d OotP binder. This is very similar to the World of HP binder and to be honest I didn't know it even existed. Have I changed my mind about the goodie bags from San Diego? No, I still think they are grossly unfair to the majority of card collectors but I am incredibly grateful to my big brother for getting this one for me ;D ;D ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bryanjs14 August 13, 2007, 02:32:14 AM Horray Sharon!
Graham told me about your horrid luck with Potter boxes so far so it is really nice to hear you pulled a Radcliffe! Congrats! : Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 13, 2007, 02:44:51 AM Great news!!! I'm so glad that you finally got something really good. ;D

Mind you, that box of goodies had to be one of the most expensive seeing as Boggy flew to SD and bought it at the show! :o Hey ho whatever - I'm thrilled to bits for you Sharon ... time to send it in to be redeemed ... ;) ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : wolfie August 13, 2007, 03:13:03 AM Massive congrats on the Radcliffe Sharon. :)
: Re: San Diego 2007 : grecopa August 13, 2007, 03:29:50 AM YAY!!! Great stuff Sharon!! ;D ;D ;D Nah, you can't look at it that way. All the $ Graham spent in SD was for his own entertainment and con-going pleasure. Sharons box was FREE! ;DMind you, that box of goodies had to be one of the most expensive seeing as Boggy flew to SD and bought it at the show! :o Hey ho whatever - I'm thrilled to bits for you Sharon ... time to send it in to be redeemed ... ;) ;D : Re: San Diego 2007 : Nienna August 13, 2007, 03:36:43 AM YAY!!! This is very similar to the World of HP binder and to be honest I didn't know it even existed. That was the Show Exclusive Binder this Year 500 of them one in each tote bag along with 1 other random binder from other sets. Nice looking binder, although I am not sure if there will be much demand for it. : Re: San Diego 2007 : bush360 August 13, 2007, 04:18:37 AM Yeah great news on the Harry redemption I too am really excited about going again next year and exploring a little bit more my experience was dominated by visiting artbox, inkworks and Topps and the few card dealers that were in attendance, next time I hope to get into the rest of the exhbits and some of the seminar type of things.
I went as part of my family vacation and managed to get to go to see the pandas at san diego zoo and we did the tour of the midway aircraft carrier. Next year I will definately be taking a camera. i would definately recommend anyone who is seriously into sci fi to go to this show it topps anything i have ever visited in the UK. I am glad Graham had a good time he looked a man on a mission when I saw him at the artbox stand. all the best Rich : Re: San Diego 2007 : Bogleg August 13, 2007, 04:33:26 AM I'm really glad that all reports of me were of me trying to get something impossible or carrying a load of not-mine goodies. I would hate to think everyone out there thought I was there to enjoy myself
