: New season of 24 to begin tonight! (spoilers)
: kbmum January 15, 2007, 02:47:16 AM
The new season of 24 begins tonight at 8:00 EST/7:00 CST with two back-to-back episodes and two hours tomorrow night.  Fox just showed a preview during halftime of the Seattle/Chicago game -- all I can say is oooooooooooooh!  I'm putting the kids to bed a bit early both nights. ;)

The hard part now is that we'll have only one episode per week instead of four over two days!

Wow - what a way to open the new season!  Talk about a timely topic!  What we saw happen in the second 2 hour show is one of my worst fears as I firmly believe that at some point the Islamic Terrorists will acquire one or more nuclear weapons and try to detonate them here in the United States.  Unfortunately you folks in England are in the same boat and it is a good possibility it can happen to you as well.  Being involved in National Security issues for 30 years I can tell you that there are outfits like CTU in reality that have ended threats to our country and continue to do so as we go about our daily lives.  Let's all hope and pray that these men and women have continued success in preventing something like we saw happen on 24.   :o=

OK guys, feel free to discuss details. I've only seen the first 13 mins of an ep  but please don't hang back because of me. Just go ahead and discuss it and I'll not come back until I've caught up with you guys.

The first 13 minutes were pretty explosive to be fair, I must get to watch them... ASAP

2 hour episode tonight!!!! Whoo Hooo!!!

OK!! Has nothing to do with the catastrophe that happened,
but my husband has a Bauer family theory! He thinks that Jack's brother's
son, is actually his (Jack's). What do you guys think?

OK... so I'm catching up slowly

I'm now at the end of ep. 4, the nuclear bomb has just exploded... as a random aside I happen to be reading a book about nuclear safety and when I was back in College I did a course, we have no real knowledge of nuclear bombs and the effect on people beyond the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs (or 'tests' if you like.. this is not a place to judge, those were desperate times, and my opinion on the desperate measures is irrelevant, as I don't want an argument on this here), let's all just pray in the vain hope that we never see any more 'tests'.

The results are interesting (if you are weird like me), obviously there were people close to the bombs killed instantly, but for those on the periphery just the angle at which they were standing in relation to the bomb could save or jeopardise their lives. It was such a traumatic experience that the data on this is confused (can you remember what direction you were standing at at a certain time? Maybe you would if a nuclear bomb went off, but it's not guaranteed).

On the upside, we should have known that the bomb was going off when Jack didn't tag along on the mission

... and if anything was going to tear him from wallowing in self pity and a stretched concience... this is it... well - you guys know better than me because you've watched on, now I'm hooked I'll catch up with you in no time ;)

OOOOOOoooooohhhhh, I think Mr Jackie is onto something, he LOOKS like Jack and something shifty was all over Mrs Bauer's eyes when her husband said he'd heard from Jack... hmmmmmmmmmmm

Ooh and now I've caught up, I have a rather odd new hero and heroine... in the hero spot is now Bill B (and his lovely wife) and in the heroine slot is Chloe.

Imagine... she now has people skills... the one thing she totally lacked in the beginning :)
