: Casino Royale : Geek Boy November 24, 2006, 02:05:51 AM Anybody been to see this yet? I went today and seriously, I was blown away. What an awesome film! I haven't seen Supes Returns or Pirates 2 yet but it's top of my list for film of the year.
Goldeneye aside, this is the best one since the Connery days. Daniel Craig is amazing. It's pretty violent but without the ham of Brosnan, the boredom of Dalton and the smarm of Moore. There are one or two smart one-liners but nothing cheesy. The opening sequence is incredible, 10 minutes of non stop action and not a gadget in sight. And he writes off an Aston DBS..... :'( :'( :'( :'( If you get the chance, go see it, it's well worth it. Restores ones faith in the franchise! : Re: Casino Royale : De Orc November 25, 2006, 05:16:49 AM Looking forwards to going to see it when I finaly throw this cold LOL (Next summer at this rate )
De Orc ;D : Re: Casino Royale : savage727 November 28, 2006, 05:00:53 AM We saw the new Bond film yesterday and thought it was one of the best I have ever seen - and I have seen them all since the first one back in the early 1960's!! :) Daniel Craig is amazing just as Geek Boy said! He brings a no nonsense attitude to the film and portrays what a professional government assassin embodies. I am looking forward to seeing Craig as 007 in future films! :)
: Re: Casino Royale : saruman November 29, 2006, 05:28:57 PM ya i agree. i didn't think a blond bond would work but i was surprised at how good he was. i think he's one of the best bonds ever. Connery will always be favourite but i the Daniel Craig brings bond up to date. pity there is't a Q in the movie but that's a minor complaint
: Re: Casino Royale : Roz December 02, 2006, 10:59:44 PM Pity there is't a Q in the movie but that's a minor complaint (PM sent Cian ;)) I think that Q often made the movie a bit cheesy, but this was strictly as cheese-free as a bond movie can be. Perhaps Craig is lactose intolerant ;) I thought it was excellent, pretty violent, but that made it all more realistic. We saw Bond was fallible in the beginning (the Embassy incident) which made us (me) like him all the more. I thought Judi Dench as M was better than ever ;D (I want her job - professional busybody - loadsa responsibility, but loads of interesting info, and fabulous offices  nice home too ). I loved the variety of cars, from the Ford Mondeo (to all BMW drivers, the Mondeo's rarer!!!) at the start to the 1964 Aston to the (dishevelled but with lifesavingly good handling) DB5 Oh and I thought some of the locations were fab. I haven't read up on the film so I don't know where things were shot but they gave a good impression of being London/ some Eastern Bloc/Austria (that fab castle at the end? Austria or Italy?) /the Italian Lakes and Venice, so all's good there (although that bit at the end with the collapsing building would NOT have been allowed anywhere near Venice I'm sure not even as a scale model  - since there's even a ban on motorboats that cause too many waves) Craig may not be ouvertly good looking but he was definitely sexy ;D (ha ha, I'm sure you boys didn't want to know that) Oh and he's on Parky tonight guys, so don't miss out ;D : Re: Casino Royale : grecopa December 03, 2006, 12:24:17 AM I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm happy to see that they finally have a rugged manly man playing James Bond again. Sean Connery had the rugged look also, but I think Pierce Brosnan was the worst for the 007 look. He was just too skinny and wimpy looking IMO. I look forward to seeing this one!
: Re: Casino Royale : Trey January 05, 2007, 05:27:40 AM I saw this one a couple of weeks ago. It was a great Bond film, one of the best i think (but I havent seen them all). I did like Daniel Craig as Bond, he is sexy and a no-nonsense Bond who can kick some serious butt! He fits the role perfectly and I do prefer him alot more than Pierce Brosnan..and equally to Sean Connery who was my favourite Bond man.
A great film with lots of action..I would give it a 4 out of 5! :D : Re: Casino Royale : Roz February 13, 2007, 01:57:03 AM I agree, I thought he was great. The people at the Orange film awards didn't think so :(
I loved the new pace and lack of cheesiness. |
