: Chamber of Secrets Set : Scifi Cards November 10, 2006, 12:03:42 PM I just got an email from one of my distributors that the Chamber of Secrets trading cards are now available for pre-order! The target release date is mid to late December. Yep, another Harry Potter set this year. ::)
I sincerely had hoped that they would put it off until after the first of the year, but maybe they are hoping to cash in on some Christmas sales. Of course, this is typical Artbox. No information on who's signing, what the costumes and props are, or anything else that might give a hint as to why we would want to order this set. >:() And, of course, it will sell out and Artbox will again have proof that information is not necessary to sell cards. I'm awfully cynical tonight. Maybe I ought to try some sleep... Ed : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 10, 2006, 06:04:12 PM There were a lot of COS items on display at last July's SDCC, many of them props. Let the speculation begin! :D
Costumes Harry pajamas Hermione blue sweater Props Ron's Howler Weasley Family Hogwarts Envelope Ron's Hogwarts Letter Class Schedules Fawkes Feathers Aragog Leg Mandrake Gilderoy Lockhart's Magical Me book (or dust jacket) Lockhart photo Christmas Crackers Polyjuice Vials Polyjuice Cauldron There were other items, like Harry and Draco's Quidditch robes, but there was no sign that stated from which movie they came. I hope there is a Lockhart costume. :) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : mcgonagall November 10, 2006, 06:50:12 PM and maybe oh please oh please oh please a hagrid auto
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 10, 2006, 07:21:14 PM There could also be Snape, Draco, Lockhart, and Tom Riddle autos. I hope Artbox keeps with tradition and has a Daily Prophet -- the one with the front page story about the flying Ford Anglia! ;)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon November 11, 2006, 03:22:41 AM I reckon there will be a few repeat cards from MM - Basilisk skin and Riddles Diary. Of course these should be in this set but it is a shame they are being released so close together.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 11, 2006, 06:38:01 AM I reckon there will be a few repeat cards from MM - Basilisk skin and Riddles Diary. Of course these should be in this set but it is a shame they are being released so close together. You got that right. Especially with all the other good sets hitting now. I could have stood for a 4 month wait. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : thor November 11, 2006, 08:20:54 AM I love the idea of some of those Prop cards you have listed ;D I just pre-ordered a couple boxes myself and thank goodness I don't have to pay for them until December since I have a Root canal I have to worry about paying for right now ::)
I can't wait to see the Prop cards because out of all the cards for HP they are my favorite. I just wish they weren't so expensive :( :-[ ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 11, 2006, 02:49:38 PM the potential prop line up for COS seems amazing, much better than the MM props, although there were a few good ones also
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa November 12, 2006, 12:39:02 AM I reckon there will be a few repeat cards from MM - Basilisk skin and Riddles Diary. Of course these should be in this set but it is a shame they are being released so close together. That's exactly what I'm worried about, repeat cards after I just shelled out good cash for a basilisk skin and Dracos quidditch sweater. Watch and see, they'll have a Draco quidditch robe in bright green for the CoS set. >:(): Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 12, 2006, 03:11:06 AM I don't know, I'm almost thinking that the COS cards they included in MM were more of a preview of what's to come, kind of setting the temptation for the COS set. So, if they have a Draco Quidditch Costume Card, maybe it would be the robe, rather than the sweater. ??? I just don't think they will repeat any of these cards, unless there are some super variant cuts...then again maybe I'm just hoping...or placing too much faith in them! ::) :o=
I would love to see Fawkes' feather! :D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 12, 2006, 03:13:29 AM The Lockhart photo is going to be funny ;D
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea November 12, 2006, 06:41:03 AM Mid to Late December?! And I'm definitely getting a case of COS. Sounds like i won't make it to the next year the way I'm spending my money  .
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : bush360 November 12, 2006, 08:54:38 AM WOW !!! :o :o :o
Another set inside of this year !! What is happenning...... Hold on I would predict about a march/april release on this set based on past experience I cant believe we will be having a Potter release so close to MM. However I do welcome any decent looking future set. Maybe these cards are ready after artbox got MM and this COS set done as a Job lot.   : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 12, 2006, 09:02:54 AM My bank accounts are about to faint! ;D i'm really looking forward to this set though
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 12, 2006, 09:03:52 AM With MM released in October and OOTP coming out in June or July, it would be much better if COS were released in February or March. That would give collectors a chance to work on their MM sets and save up a bit for COS, never mind the difficulty of paying for boxes and cases right around Christmas and Hannukah.
Maybe Artbox has other releases, like the poster card set, that they're planning to release in the spring. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 12, 2006, 09:20:16 AM Yeah, the money part is scaring me. I think my account should have an unbreakable charm placed on it, b/c at the rate I'm going, not only will it be broke, but so will I. ::)
I would be surprised if this set isn't delayed for a little while anyway. Haven't we seen almost every set delayed by some period of time? Unless, like Rich said, they worked on both sets at the same time. :-\ : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 12, 2006, 09:25:09 AM MM was originally scheduled for release in May and COS in June (or so it says on the COS promos). I wouldn't be surprised if the boxes and cases were packed and ready to ship now.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 12, 2006, 09:53:11 AM I kind of think it's exciting to see so much new product in such a short time, even though it makes the wallet frown
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ferdinand_the_yak November 12, 2006, 03:47:14 PM I highly doubt that Artbox will release the CoS set before the New Year. In fact, I'd bet a case of CoS they won't. With all other projected release dates for their 2006 sets being well delayed, it's unlikely they could push a release so close to MM. It's a stupid idea financially - dealers and distributors would likely be still recovering from MM and I daresay would have less to spend on CoS at this point in time. Also, as a side note, MM prices for boxes (I rarely see cases) are dropping slightly... they were at $90+ BIN at release and I am seeing some go for around $60.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 13, 2006, 01:19:40 AM You know what would have made a great PROP?
Rita Skeeter's Quick Quotes Quill. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 13, 2006, 03:12:45 AM You know what would have made a great PROP? Rita Skeeter's Quick Quotes Quill. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!! :o : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Geek Boy November 14, 2006, 02:09:06 AM How about some flakes of paint or seat material from the flying car?
Maybe some seat material from The Hogwarts train? Bits of Harry's sword? But another set so soon after MM? :P : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz November 14, 2006, 03:18:47 AM How about some flakes of paint or seat material from the flying car? I'm sure I read a while back that the Ford Anglia was sold. And if you can believe it the car was sold for less than £1000  I bet Artbox could have had a field day with that Ron's seat prop card Harry's seat prop card Ron's steering wheel prop card Harry's door knob prop card ... ad infinitum : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 14, 2006, 03:58:35 AM I want to see a quad candy card with variant swatches, and a triple harry, hermione, and ron wand card
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : mcgonagall November 14, 2006, 04:00:40 AM what about
pieces of glass from the broken window of the car lol : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa November 14, 2006, 04:03:46 AM Owch!
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea November 14, 2006, 10:00:00 AM A triple harry, hermione, and ron wand card?? Holy Yak!!! I can see it now! Super Ultra Rare Oversized Triple Wand Card xx/10**!!
**8/10 found in Artbox's Magical Mysterious Mega Boxes at SDCC! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 14, 2006, 10:07:11 AM  I really hope they don't do something like that, despite how awesome the card would be LOL
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter November 14, 2006, 08:35:30 PM Where can you preorder this set from?

This is an amazingly complete list for this soon from Artbox. Ed : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa November 15, 2006, 12:33:56 AM A cauldon will be an interesting prop to pull off. I wonder how they'll do it? If anyone collects sportscards, remember the first helmet piece cards that came out in the 80's? They had a thick plug of the helmet like they punched it out with a hole puncher.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : canny19 November 15, 2006, 01:06:46 AM wow, looks like a great line-up.
Thats a lot of costumes! :o : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower November 15, 2006, 01:21:30 AM Oh yes, a lot. :o
Buit i love the prop list, sounds very interesting. 8) And Branagh as a signer is great. :D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 15, 2006, 01:27:27 AM wow, this list sounds pretty amazing and unique!! I wonder if the crackers will be wrappers or actual food, or plastic food like the wonka bars
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bryanjs14 November 15, 2006, 01:35:01 AM Wow.
Everything sounds great except the 4 repeat autos :P :P :P : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 15, 2006, 01:58:17 AM Thrilled about a Gilderoy Lockheart auto and Professor Sprout! ;D ;D ;D I was hoping for a cut auto of Richard Harris as Dumbledore and a Dumbledore costume card.
Kenneth Branagh costume card should be colorful! :D All of the prop cards look fantastic! :o This may be a good sign that the boxes will be delivered as scheduled. ??? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon November 15, 2006, 02:11:02 AM I am pleased that Moaning Myrtle has signed again as I don't have that card yet and they are soooo rare. A Lockhart auto would be the pull of the year for me ;D. I am surprised by the number of costumes - I suppose they had to do so many Harry ones because Fleur wasn't in this film ;). Looking good ;D. I am just a bit worried if they do come out before Christmas, very expensive :-\
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 15, 2006, 02:25:48 AM I recently purchased a card Branagh signed for the Wild Wild West set, but I'd much prefer a Lockhart auto. :) I am disappointed that there is no Daily Prophet prop for the COS set.
Here's a picture of the Christmas Crackers that were on display at ComicCon (courtesy Jon). (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/summer-shudder/Picture22.png) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL November 15, 2006, 02:54:31 AM LOL, i originally thought they were edible crackers
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : HPfamily November 15, 2006, 04:54:19 AM LOL, i originally thought they were edible crackers      You're not the only one who thought that way!! So did I!! Kept wondering how they were going to "preserve" such a prop!! ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ferdinand_the_yak November 15, 2006, 05:54:00 PM I hope the Lockhart swatches will be lilac ;)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : beatles99 November 15, 2006, 07:22:15 PM Has anyone heard yet what the case production number is going to be yet ?????
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Anna November 15, 2006, 08:44:24 PM Here are some samples of cards from this set. ;D

Very nice. Does anyone else think the mandrake picture is strange? There were a lot better shots of a mandrake in the movie. Do you think they used that photo because they didn't want people to think they were actually getting a particular mandrake, like Rons or Dracos?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Anna November 15, 2006, 08:59:04 PM Does anyone else think the mandrake picture is strange? I thought the Mandrake picture looked odd also. It's shaped triangular, but in the movie the Mandrakes' bodies resembled a human torso. :-\ : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 15, 2006, 09:02:08 PM When you combine the blue costume card with Harry's red plaid shirt, that's going to make for one colorful card! :) I wonder how thick the Aragog card will be?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bryanjs14 November 15, 2006, 09:18:21 PM Does anyone else find this extremely weird feeling?
I feel like I am in the twilight zone or something... We are going to be SO spoiled after this set...why hasn't artbox put out info and pictures yet? they did it for Chambers ect ect : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 15, 2006, 09:56:45 PM When you combine the blue costume card with Harry's red plaid shirt, that's going to make for one colorful card! :) I wonder how thick the Aragog card will be?  Looks like the Swatch in the sample is from his BLACK tee-shirt. The BLACK costume SAGA continues. I hope for a Plaid variant.  One BLACK costume down, 3 to go.  : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 15, 2006, 09:58:44 PM Does anyone else think the mandrake picture is strange? I thought the Mandrake picture looked odd also. It's shaped triangular, but in the movie the Mandrakes' bodies resembled a human torso. :-\ Anna, it's an adult MANDRAKE. See his goatee. ;D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Anna November 15, 2006, 10:07:44 PM Anna, it's an adult MANDRAKE. See his goatee. ;D   OKay, so the adult Mandrakes are triangular shaped and have goatees. ;D Got it! ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea November 15, 2006, 10:37:03 PM I can't believe we're getting sample pictures already :o :o!. Thanks Anna ;D!. The cards look great, i really like the backgrounds and patterns.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum November 15, 2006, 10:41:38 PM   Looks like the Swatch in the sample is from his BLACK tee-shirt. Artbox does have the red plaid shirt. Let's hope for the best! :) (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/summer-shudder/Picture12.png) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz November 16, 2006, 12:29:42 AM Has anyone heard yet what the case production number is going to be yet ????? 600 at last count : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter November 16, 2006, 12:34:59 AM Where can you preorder thi set from??

: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 16, 2006, 02:51:46 AM I hope the Lockhart swatches will be lilac ;) Agreed! I hope it's lilac as well...or that peachy color! :) I REALLY like the blue background on the costume cards!!! Shocked we're getting pics!!!! Love this! ;D The Mandrake is odd...it doesn't even look like the ones in the film really. ??? Does anyone else find this extremely weird feeling? I feel like I am in the twilight zone or something... We are going to be SO spoiled after this set...why hasn't artbox put out info and pictures yet? they did it for Chambers ect ect We're absolutely going to be spoiled after this set and expect the same results for future sets. ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bryanjs14 November 16, 2006, 03:02:17 AM isn't that the Mandrake the professor pulls out?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa November 16, 2006, 05:03:24 AM The swatches they're showing on the cards aren't real. I just copied the pictures into photoshop and lightened them up. When I did that, the blue and gold designs on the card showed through. I think they just blacked in the center of the swatch so they could use the cards as samples. A plaid Harry shirt is still very possible! ;D
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y213/grecopa/forum/HarryCostume.jpg) I just realized that the repeated design is a broom. For a while I thought it was a fish! ??? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 16, 2006, 05:11:57 AM That explains the repeated pattern on the PROP card Swatches.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : thor November 16, 2006, 05:30:38 AM I missed the Goblet of Fire Update set completely do to a few health problems, so I am very excited to be back into the HP collecting with this upcoming set.
The Prop cards sound fantastic and I hope to get at least one Prop card in one of the 2 boxes I pre-ordered ;D :o= : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 16, 2006, 06:19:38 AM isn't that the Mandrake the professor pulls out? I love all the props in the CoS set, but the ones I would really love to get are the Floo Powder, Book and Christmas card ones ;D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy November 17, 2006, 02:44:42 AM It is a really nice one ;D I love all the props in the CoS set, but the ones I would really love to get are the Floo Powder, Book and Christmas card ones ;D I'm really curious to see how they package the Floo Powder--maybe they'll put a plastic covering over the swatch opening. ??? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon November 17, 2006, 04:01:26 AM They may do it like the Lost sand - that card looks fantastic ;D

: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Geek Boy November 20, 2006, 06:43:47 PM Will there be an update to this set or is it a one off like Sorcerers Stone?
I hope there won't be an update, not with Phoenix due by next summer........ : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter November 20, 2006, 06:56:59 PM I'm hoping there isn't going to be an update set out, I am really looking forward for the release of OOTP cards ;D
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 20, 2006, 09:43:36 PM They have delayed this for so long it's hard to believe that they haven't put everything possible into this set already.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : 5594mike November 20, 2006, 10:47:36 PM i think there will be an update edition, event though they havent release all auto signers but theres still loads from this film
tom riddle draco dobby colin creavey molly auther hargid..... plus maybe another triple :o= :o= it would suck if their wasn't an update as POA and GOF did. but did SS have an update???? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Anna November 20, 2006, 11:02:57 PM but did SS have an update???? No, there wasn't an update for SS. The reason Artbox puts out an update set is because all the props and costumes they want to use for the set aren't available to them from Warner Brothers when the original set is released. So, since the CoS movie was released years ago, there shouldn't be an update set. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : beatles99 November 20, 2006, 11:52:37 PM I don't think that there will be an update for COS ..now Anna is partially right about about the props and costumes but the main reason that there is an update (besides they can sell more cards and get Warrick Davis to sign again) is really the main reason is that they don't give away most of the story line and the ending, as if no one has read any books ???? if you notice most of all the update series deal with the last 1/2 of the movie as the original release is almost all the first half of the movie and that includes costume and props also
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Anna November 21, 2006, 12:18:17 AM I don't think that there will be an update for COS ..now Anna is partially right about about the props and costumes but the main reason that there is an update (besides they can sell more cards and get Warrick Davis to sign again) is really the main reason is that they don't give away most of the story line and the ending, as if no one has read any books ???? if you notice most of all the update series deal with the last 1/2 of the movie as the original release is almost all the first half of the movie and that includes costume and props also I didn't know that Mo. :o I guess I should re-read the base cards. ::) Oh yes, we must get another Warwick Davis auto. ::) :P : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : pinksamstar November 23, 2006, 07:41:42 PM No, there wasn't an update for SS. The reason Artbox puts out an update set is because all the props and costumes they want to use for the set aren't available to them from Warner Brothers when the original set is released. So, since the CoS movie was released years ago, there shouldn't be an update set. oh i thought it was because they wanted more money!   : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 23, 2006, 09:27:10 PM i think there will be an update edition, event though they havent release all auto signers but theres still loads from this film Madam Hooch hasn't signed yet, has she?tom riddle draco dobby colin creavey molly auther hargid..... plus maybe another triple :o= :o= it would suck if their wasn't an update as POA and GOF did. but did SS have an update???? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz November 23, 2006, 09:39:20 PM Madam Hooch? Zoe Wannamaker? I don't think we'll get that :(
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon November 24, 2006, 01:58:28 AM Madam Hooch? Zoe Wannamaker? I don't think we'll get that :( We never thought we would get Maggie Smith so there is always hope :o=. They are bound to bring out some sort of SS retrospective or maybe they will get all the cast back together for the big scene in HBP. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : 5594mike November 24, 2006, 02:31:13 AM i love Zoe Wannamaker in my family she ace!! its wieod that in my family she looks like a witch, i think iys her pointy nose and squinty eyes and susans temper dosen't help  : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : allender November 24, 2006, 04:47:46 AM It's not just the ending - sometimes the studios won't permit some of the most revealing images or FX shots to be used in cards that will hit the streets before the film debuts, and that's the best excuse for an update set (other than "we'll make more money"). Update sets tend to be a natural idea for when the latest movie is released on DVD and the interest is repiqued. I expect that Artbox specifically went for the different direction by planning Memorable Moments as an alternative approach instead of COS plus COS Update in a half-year period.
Anyway, I already have my hunk of basilisk skin, from the MM set. I still need to find out if they have to destroy my piece of Tom Riddle's diary before HWMNBN can be killed. I've been having these strange dreams. ... ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz November 24, 2006, 05:07:01 AM Madam Hooch? Zoe Wannamaker? I don't think we'll get that :( We never thought we would get Maggie Smith so there is always hope :o=. But wasn't there some dispute when Zoe left? : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Morningangel-Iola November 24, 2006, 05:10:40 AM Anyway she was only in the first film.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Trey November 24, 2006, 08:16:00 AM Yea she was only in the first film because there was some sort of dispute about her coming back for COS...I think it was about $$ if I remember correctly
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz November 24, 2006, 03:28:17 PM Yeah, and rather than replacing her they just cut the character Madam Hooch out... odd!
I think she was just outraged at the poor pay everyone's getting in comparison to what Warner Bros. are raking in. Can't say I blame her! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider November 24, 2006, 11:52:56 PM Yeah, and rather than replacing her they just cut the character Madam Hooch out... odd! And, so consequently a lot of the quidditch was able to be cut out as well, so it seems.I think she was just outraged at the poor pay everyone's getting in comparison to what Warner Bros. are raking in. Can't say I blame her! Shame because it is so much of the story. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : sweinar2005 November 25, 2006, 05:40:18 AM I'm kinda of disappointed that they haven't gotten an Alan Rickman or Robbie Coltrane auto yet. Was hoping COS would have them. Any one know why they haven't done one yet. Not even a Snape's costume card. Very disappointing.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Mike November 25, 2006, 06:20:19 AM The actors have to agree to sign and Warner Bros. give Artbox the costumes Warner Bros. want to give out and most costumes are used over. Snape's outfit hasnt changed much from the 4 films.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon November 25, 2006, 08:18:59 PM My guess (and it is only a guess) is that Alan Rickman doesn't want the costumes he has worn to be used. The only reason I think this is that some actors are very protective of everything to do with their image ie Christopher Lee with the sketch cards. It could be because he always wears the same thing but even if the costume changes very little I am sure the studio would have a lot of them made as 'just in casers' :)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bryanjs14 November 25, 2006, 09:04:55 PM If I remember correctly we had a thread where we spoke about this before, but Alan Rickman is SUPER protective about his image being used.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter December 04, 2006, 08:11:38 PM Has anyone got the COS display boxes aviable on preorder?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 04, 2006, 08:19:20 PM Tom Breyer/tomunique and Potomac Distribution are accepting pre-orders. I'm sure there are others, as well.
By the way, no ship date has been confirmed, but Potomac is listing it as December 31. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter December 04, 2006, 08:45:43 PM Tom Breyer/tomunique and Potomac Distribution are accepting pre-orders. I'm sure there are others, as well. Thanks for that I had a look at Potomac Distribution's website but they have a warning about paying import tax that apparently can be quite expensive here in the United Kingdom, so I went for the Collector Zone which has a release date for 22nd Dec, but I am guessing it will be more likely to be January.By the way, no ship date has been confirmed, but Potomac is listing it as December 31. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon December 05, 2006, 01:00:35 AM a warning about paying import tax that apparently can be quite expensive here in the United Kingdom Yes it can be pricey (been caught, had to pay >:() ) but at the moment with the exchange rate you will still find it cheaper to buy from the US and risk the import duty. Even if you get hit with everything they can throw at you it will still probably be cheaper than buying from the UK. Plus you will receive the cards quicker ;D. Well so much for a pre-Christmas release date ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : LikORish-Spider December 05, 2006, 03:02:47 AM My guess (and it is only a guess) is that Alan Rickman doesn't want the costumes he has worn to be used. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 05, 2006, 03:18:43 AM The last we had heard, back in November, was that the set would ship before the end of the year. Hopefully, we'll find out this week what the actual ship date will be.
Neville's grandmother's costume would have made an excellent costume card! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : potter December 06, 2006, 11:36:52 PM The last we had heard, back in November, was that the set would ship before the end of the year. Hopefully, we'll find out this week what the actual ship date will be. Is their any news of the UK release?Neville's grandmother's costume would have made an excellent costume card! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 07, 2006, 12:07:11 AM There is no separate UK release. Artbox ships all of its cases over a period of a few days, sometimes staggering the shipments (UK, US East Coast, US central, then US West Coast) and sometimes not. But, it's all the same release.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Morningangel-Iola December 07, 2006, 04:26:51 AM Uk took ages to get the GOFu set.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 07, 2006, 08:43:04 AM True, but the problem was with the sole distributor in the UK, not Artbox. I'm pretty sure that there weren't such long delays with the other HP sets. When POAU was released, the first person to have the cards on eBay was a UK seller.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Morningangel-Iola December 08, 2006, 04:22:45 AM That is true. I didn't get any MM boxes (Although I have a lovely base set thanks to Sharon ;D), was there much delay there?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 08, 2006, 04:26:31 AM I think people in the UK received MM about a week after we did in the US. Let's see...the first case breakdowns by US buyers were October 25 and the first from a UK buyer was October 31. Artbox usually does staggered shipping, but couldn't for MM, otherwise the dates might have been a bit closer together.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Morningangel-Iola December 08, 2006, 04:40:01 AM That wasn't too bad really then.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon December 08, 2006, 11:52:52 PM I wonder where the UK MM that was posted about came from though? I know I only bought from the US this time.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : allender December 13, 2006, 06:38:09 PM Tom says that he hears the expected "street date" is approximately December 29, with staggered shipping to distributors starting about December 20. One would can that this is a big enough window so that UK cases get into the first breakdowns. ...
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 13, 2006, 08:44:19 PM If shipping is going to start five days before Christmas, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some delivery delays. I was hoping to have my boxes under the tree Christmas morning, since they're my Christmas presents. Oh well.
So, who's going to be on eBay this New Year's Eve, looking for COS cards? ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : HPfamily December 13, 2006, 10:12:28 PM So, who's going to be on eBay this New Year's Eve, looking for COS cards? ;) ME! ;D  : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 13, 2006, 10:17:16 PM Me, too. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 15, 2006, 08:32:07 AM Is it me, or are there more cards to get in this set than in previous sets, or am I'm just imagining it!? :o :-[ It's a big set. POAU has 20 autos, 23 costumes, and 12 props (including the creature cards). COS has 16 autos, 18 costumes, and 13 props. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa December 15, 2006, 09:36:01 AM A green Draco robe. I frickin' knew it! >:() Time to sell the MM Quidditch sweater on ebay. Last chance if anyone wants it.
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing Ginny's pink costume card. But kind of dissapointed about Lockhart's costume being brown. :-\ : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 15, 2006, 11:35:05 PM This set has Lily and James Potter autos. When do they appear in COS? I'm drawing a blank. The International Movie Database lists them for the movie, but as uncredited.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa December 16, 2006, 12:46:37 AM They were in a photograph maybe? And what does (double) mean next to each of thier names in the auto list? If it was a double auto wouldn't that just count as one card?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 16, 2006, 01:37:09 AM I missed that. Maybe they're dual auto/costume cards.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 16, 2006, 03:14:42 AM Someone on a Yahoo Groups HP movie group said they were in the first scene of the movie. Harry is looking at the photo album Hagrid gave him and sure enough, there are James, Lily, and baby Harry!
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/COS/cosjameslilyharry.jpg) I wonder if that's the picture Artbox will use on the card? If so, I love it! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon December 16, 2006, 03:19:35 AM That's stretching it a bit though for autographs :-\. If they had not signed before I wouldn't mind them in this set but really they could have settled for 14 autos and had this as a prop instead. This is only a little moan because this does look like a lovely set :)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : 5594mike December 16, 2006, 04:49:47 AM :o :o WOW :o :o
i so cant wait for this set, it dose suck about the timeing >:() but i think the set will be worth the debt  the autos are great but whos the "must have" of the set" i know its normaly down to how many each actor sign, in the past actors auto are cheeper if thay have apperd more than once like bonnie wrights (exspencive POA / cheep GOFU) so do you think these will be the must haves in order...... no#1 Julie Walters Molly Weasley = £££ no#2 Toby Jones Dobby no#3 Kenneth Branagh Proffessor Lockhart no#4 Christian Coulson Tom Riddle no#5 Julian Glover Aragog no#6 Gemma Jones Madam Pomfrey no#7 Miriam Margolyes Proffessor Sprout no#8 Fiona Shaw Aunt Petunia : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : bush360 December 16, 2006, 06:00:42 AM Really looking forward to this set looking amazing plus it looks like we have got all the auto signers we wanted for this set plus some duplicated signers as I would expect.
Rich : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 16, 2006, 06:11:17 AM Since the cast is mostly the same for each movie, there are going to be repeat signers. Otherwise, we'd have only one or two autos per case.
I would much rather have a Lily and James Potter dual auto than a generic witch or wizard Harry encounters when he mistakenly floos to Knockturn Alley. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea December 16, 2006, 06:20:08 AM I'd rather have some Dual/Double Autos too. I fear they will run out of ideas and start a new Warwick Davis collection, WD1: W.Davis as a Goblin, WD2: W.Davis as Bankteller, WD3: W.Davis as Choir Conductor, WD4: W.Davis as Random creature, WD5.. ::)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 16, 2006, 06:32:41 AM It's a big surprise that there isn't a Flitwick auto for this set. :)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : jfer21 December 16, 2006, 11:15:08 AM The only autograph on my wish list for this set that didn't make it was Mark Williams. I would have loved to see a Mr./Mrs. Weasley dual card.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 16, 2006, 07:41:53 PM Yes, would have been nice. :'(
And it seems that we still have to wait for the missing signers. Robbie Coltrane and Alan Rickman may be tough to get, it seems that they don't like ti sign on cards. But why is Tom Felton still missing? ??? ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Nienna December 16, 2006, 08:15:40 PM I cannot remember for the life of me where I read it, but I'm fairly sure Tom Felton is just as careful of what he signs as Snape and Hagrid are!
Maybe he hasn't been offered enough $$ (in his opinion! LOL) or perhaps he wants more control over who makes money from his image and autos? It could also be that Artbox will include him in the HBP set in the future? :o= It might be worth asking him the next time any of us attends one of the conventions where he is a guest! ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea December 17, 2006, 01:57:43 AM Like you said maybe he's been careful of what he signs, he's always warning people about ebay and fake photos that sellers claim to have been signed by him etc. so it's understandable, but most of the cast has signed already, at least those his age have, including Jamie Waylett & Joshua Herdman (his friends from way before the HP movies) and even the Trio has signed more than once. Not to mention he's been to his own share of cons, and he seemed more than happy to organize special signings for his fans (something not many actors are willing to do) so i doubt it's about the money.
Maybe Artbox has the answer to that question :-\?, at least it would be easier to ask Artbox than ask him these days. I doubt they haven't approached him yet. And i have my fingers crossed for the HBP set too, I hope he signs for that one :o= :o=. The set would look a tad bit incomplete without Snape and Draco :-[. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon December 17, 2006, 03:58:57 AM I must be the only Shacker who would love another Warwick Davis autograph ::). His was the first character where I could say I had all the autos - signed and unsigned. The only thing that still miffs me is that card where he is listed as Flitwick instead of the Choir Master >:()
I actually think we should start a campaign for more Warwick Davis autographs ;D. Anyone with me ? ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : grecopa December 17, 2006, 05:08:47 AM Graham, could you please make sure your sister gets back on her medication?

I've received confirmation from Artbox that the James and Lily autos will not be part of this set. :-\ : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy December 19, 2006, 02:31:35 AM  Y'all are too funny!
I've received confirmation from Artbox that the James and Lily autos will not be part of this set. :-\ Oh, well, just when I started loving the idea of a dual auto. ::) Well, there are still some really awesome autos in this set! ;) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon December 19, 2006, 02:51:06 AM I've received confirmation from Artbox that the James and Lily autos will not be part of this set. :-\ I'm actually quite relieved about that, they just aren't right for this set. Now if they replaced this with Mr Davis ;). No seriously I wonder if they will do any type of Cornish Pixie prop as a surprise :o=. Oh and as 5594mike started guessing who would be the most expensive signer for this set I will now have my go. I think it will be Kenneth Branagh. But since I have been waaayyy out on all the other sets this will probably be the common one ::) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 19, 2006, 05:59:05 AM Branagh is certainly the biggest name for this set, but if he signed a lot of cards, prices should be reasonable. He seemed to have signed a ton of cards for the Wild Wild West movie set. I picked up one of those (prices were generally less than $15 :o ), because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get one of his from COS.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea December 28, 2006, 11:29:08 AM Not one card in the 50-150's yet :-\. Hopefully the Case incentives will change that. From what i've seen they usually make up for the lack of Premium AUTOs with rare or low print Prop/Costume cards and vice-versa. And after Memorable Moments..what's with the number print?.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 28, 2006, 05:51:18 PM I'm sure, at least 3 props will be in the area below 120. I think P4 and P9 will be that rare and of course the 25 case incentive (and maybe the 10 case incentive too).
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 28, 2006, 06:03:59 PM There weren't many Fawkes feathers on display at SDCC, so that card will probably be quite limited.
There are over 100 auctions on eBay this morning. I don't know about anyone else, but my watch list is full! :) : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Galea December 28, 2006, 06:32:37 PM mine too :D! I don't know what else to delete to make space for COS cards.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 28, 2006, 07:17:56 PM If the current bid is low, I often place a small bid to watch an auction. Once in a while, I even win the item for that price! :D
The P9 card is numbered to 115. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bogleg December 28, 2006, 10:48:11 PM Any cases/boxes hit these here UK shores yet?
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 28, 2006, 10:49:37 PM It's hard to get a good scan of the lenticular case loaders, but the one in this auction really shows the image.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190066648514 I'm sure it's a great card to have, but I am terrified of snakes. Think I'll pass on this one! : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : terryweasley December 28, 2006, 11:49:10 PM If the current bid is low, I often place a small bid to watch an auction. Once in a while, I even win the item for that price! :D The P9 card is numbered to 115. Digital Heros Ebay store seems to have the most Chamber of Secrets cards with 23, but there opening bids are outrageous. Too rich for my pocket book. They are out of Washington state, USA, so I guess the US got cards first. Too rich for my pocket book. I find it strange that Prop cards have lower opening bids than the Costume cards. I generally collect only Costume Cards and with the exception of the Incentive cards, there total numbers are twice has high as the Prop cards. I puts some bid on some of the prop cards. I enjoy watching the auctions as much as winning the cards. I probably won't win any, but it's early yet. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 28, 2006, 11:56:06 PM The opening bids are way too high, but I guess the seller feels that since not many people have the cards on eBay right now, some buyers might be desperate enough to pay those prices.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : ECL December 29, 2006, 12:07:36 AM These cards looks so nice, probably my favorite colors and designs out of all the sets
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 29, 2006, 12:19:00 AM There aren't any really big standouts, but the set as a whole is nice. I think Artbox did a great job with the props, especially considering how long ago the movie was filmed.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 29, 2006, 12:31:09 AM I like the props and costumes (don't let's talk about the Autos), but the POAU-set was also extremely nice, when you see the cards ... ::) ;)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 29, 2006, 12:34:07 AM In terms of the actual cards, I still think that POAU is the best set Artbox has produced. The collation problems, dud boxes, and very high print run are what ruined that set for many dealers and case buyers, but the cards are fantastic.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bitsy December 29, 2006, 02:00:50 AM I agree, I loved POAU. The set, as a whole, had everything: autos, props, and costumes. It's just too bad you couldn't rely on getting a box with two inserts...or in some cases even one. ::)
I think COS has one of the best set of costume cards...all of them are major. Have we seen the Hermione sweater yet? The props for this set are really, really nice. I like all the variants of the Magical me book...did you see the one with part of Gilderoy's face on it! :o http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1738318&mpre=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/HARRY-POTTER-Chamber-of-Secrets-MAGICAL-ME-Prop-P7-V-3_W0QQitemZ140068985989QQihZ004QQcategoryZ73570QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 29, 2006, 02:15:11 AM I think, we will see a lot of variants of this book, but yes, this special one with the face is absolutely amazing. :)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 29, 2006, 02:36:37 AM There are one or two Hermione sweaters on eBay, but I haven't seen a Ginny sweater. It'll be fun to see how high the Lockhart book with the face goes! If I had pulled it, that's a card I would have kept.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 29, 2006, 02:38:21 AM Oh yes, that's a keeper and the Magical Me in me would have loved to keep it too. ;D
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 29, 2006, 04:56:10 AM The Feather entered ebay. It isn't as rare as expected, 140 of them.
Should there be an extremely rare costume? ::) Still not seen all of them. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Bogleg December 29, 2006, 07:59:09 AM I think, we will see a lot of variants of this book, but yes, this special one with the face is absolutely amazing. :) I can see some late and high bidding on this one :o All us "ordinary" collectors should duck for cover for the variant crew homing in ::) ;D: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Trey December 29, 2006, 08:03:33 AM The Feather entered ebay. It isn't as rare as expected, 140 of them. Same here, I thought it would be rarer, good news for me though I have a chance at getting one. It is a nice looking prop, very impressed with this one ;D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : mcgonagall December 29, 2006, 08:05:31 AM ducks and hides from ebay not even looking
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 29, 2006, 08:30:05 AM Here's the C1, numbered to 190.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140069177333 We're still missing C9, P6, Ci3, and Ci4. : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : HPfamily December 29, 2006, 11:32:54 AM Non-Sportsman has a master up for auction

The 25-case incentive has part of the school book list -- the Lockhart books.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : canny19 December 29, 2006, 08:52:14 PM I love all the costumes!
I would love to get my hands on a copy of the Ci1 :o= : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 30, 2006, 12:49:10 AM For those of you who are looking for low-numbered cards, here they are!
P6 Dueling Club Platform Cloth x/80 Ci3 Basilisk's Fang x/100 Ci4 Letter from Hogwarts x/64 A lot of case incentives are on eBay right now. Here's a particularly nice Ci4: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1738318&mpre=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D140069437529 : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Roz December 30, 2006, 05:54:28 AM Yeah Cindy, I really liked that Ci4 too ::) oh dear... I'm standing at the precipice of a very slippery slope :-\
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : 5594mike December 31, 2006, 05:56:10 AM Yeah Cindy, I really liked that Ci4 too ::) oh dear... I'm standing at the precipice of a very slippery slope :-\ use your pick axe roz to help you from the fall   i have three qusetion that are itching inside my head >:() can anybody tell me... how many cases are there of this set?...........600 Is there only two lenticulars or is there a secret one? was there ever a artbox release of how many autograph cards were signed buy each actor/ess? if not can anybody guess : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Tower December 31, 2006, 06:01:30 AM Yes, 600 and yes, only 2. And what's the third one? ??? ::)
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : kbmum December 31, 2006, 06:14:01 AM Artbox does not release info about the number of autos that were produced. However, one of our members, Jeff Allender, does the statistical work to estimate how many cards each actor signed. There aren't enough case and box breakdowns yet for that, though.
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : beatles99 January 01, 2007, 12:59:07 AM On the 25 case incentive card is it not a Letter from Hogwarts ????? The reason because I'm asking, is that I have just purchased a card with the swatch in green writing with Lockhart's name printed at least 4 times ....It looks to me that it's from a list of books that would have been written by him, of title then author....just can't figure out why Hogwarts would be sending a letter with a listing of all his books and then putting his name beside each one????
You can see it in the COS scans and comments thread....Maureen : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : Sharon January 01, 2007, 01:41:46 AM just can't figure out why Hogwarts would be sending a letter with a listing of all his books and then putting his name beside each one? You have a piece of the inside letter. This is a list of the books students were required to buy - Lockhart being Lockhart every one was written by him, hence all the names. That is an absolutely gorgeous card that sums up old Gilderoy to a tee ;D : Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : beatles99 January 01, 2007, 01:49:20 AM Thanks Sharon everything you said now makes perfect sense to me and also to Gilderoy Lockhart
: Re: Chamber of Secrets Set : allender January 01, 2007, 10:48:51 AM Artbox does not release info about the number of autos that were produced. However, one of our members, Jeff Allender, does the statistical work to estimate how many cards each actor signed. There aren't enough case and box breakdowns yet for that, though. Aw, you mean I can't make predictions from less than 1% of the print run?One thing to note even this early, though. Out of the five case breakdowns, there were three different autograph compositions. Ginny was in all 3, and Pomfrey, Vernon, and Sprout were in 2. So if there are any very-rare signers they should be within the other 6. But the single-group signers came in pairs, Lockhart-Myrtle, Aragog-Petunia, Dudley-Percy. If that pattern holds up, we might find that every autograph is at least in the 200-250 range and an auto-master set might be achievable without a second mortgage. (But it probably won't happen.) And so far, the cases that have the same autos appear to have the same props/costumes/cels too. |
