: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Roz October 03, 2006, 04:12:14 PM In the absence of any news about the new set, let's talk about the old one - maybe Mike or someone else with eagle-sharp eyes can help me. I have been wondering for a while about "Hermione's Book" prop from GOFU. Does anyone have any idea which book it's supposed to be? We've seen all sorts of variations of the card:
(some examples) (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b32/TYScards/HermioneBook81of130.jpg) (http://i12.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/20/5a/d0_1.JPG) (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g190/ebaymogul/DSC05068.jpg) (http://home.comcast.net/~annanlen/images/HP_GoF_Update/Props/P10_086-130.jpg) (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e309/Rich65/HermionesBook.jpg) (http://www.towersweb.de/Cards/GOFUpdate/Props/P10%20Hermione.jpg) (http://slytherynhouse.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/hermionebook1.jpg) Does anyone have any idea of what the book might be? Whether it's a text on one of the reading lists that we have heard of or maybe just something obscure from the library? It seems to me that Anna's swatch (RAG) might be something to do with dragons, and it looks pretty scaley in the background there. Julie's swatch says "of" and has something that could be a flower or a scaley dragon in the background. Has anyone else seen any that give any more insight? Please add in any new scans you find :) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : De Orc October 03, 2006, 05:21:10 PM Um how about the 'Jane's book of Dragon Identification' 1st Ed of course
De Orc 8) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Roz October 03, 2006, 06:11:40 PM Erm.. thanks! ::)
In the books I remember Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit A Dragon Keeper's Guide Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland Men Who Love Dragons Too Much : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Morningangel-Iola October 03, 2006, 06:21:05 PM Yeah but it doesn't look to me like a O after the G :-\
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : kbmum October 03, 2006, 06:40:53 PM Maybe Anna and Julie could tilt their cards and see a bit more of the lettering inside the die-cut?
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Anna October 03, 2006, 07:16:52 PM I just looked at my card per Cindy's comment and the letter before the A is definitely an R. The letter after the G looks to be a letter I, or possibly an N, but an I makes better sense. So we have "RAGI", I wonder what word could that be from? "RAGING"? ???
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : kbmum October 03, 2006, 07:33:31 PM Maybe the letters are part of the author's name.
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Bryanjs14 October 03, 2006, 07:46:08 PM it is prob just a random library book and artbox being the LAME-O's that they are just slapped a picture of Hermione holding a book onto the card :P
GIVE US SOME INFO ABOUT MM!!! |:# : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : sweinar2005 October 03, 2006, 08:22:25 PM It looks like part of the Title has "Book of Magical Creatures"

: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : 5594mike October 08, 2006, 08:00:34 PM i went diving in to GOFU scans and comments pages. on page 28 to 30 i found this set of pics that bush 360 made of the three hermione book props he pulled and me and sam bought the one at the top left, with the arm sorry for now that i cant get a better scan of sams book prop but i dont have the card at mine. as she has them safley kept at hers with her working scanner Gerrrrrrr!!! (http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n70/5594mike/bookposter.jpg) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : pinksamstar October 08, 2006, 09:22:06 PM haha my scanners not working at the mo so that picture will have to make do for now :)
this might not be too relevant, but what does everyones elses swatch feel like?? ours feels like really thin copy paper, i thought it was quite weird as it looks like it would feel embossed ::) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : grecopa October 09, 2006, 05:17:21 AM Nice card! Lovely color and the hand looks terrific. ;D Someone else will have to ring in about texture, I don't have one of those. They all look to me like they should be really thick and leathery feeling. ???
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : pinksamstar October 09, 2006, 08:37:46 PM aww thankyou :) ive seen another one and it looks like it has part of an arm on it as well, and were wondering if it could be connected to the swatch on mine, ill go look for it in a bit :) They all look to me like they should be really thick and leathery feeling. ??? i thought that, it'd be really interesting to see how different peoples are in thickness and texture ;D : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Roz October 09, 2006, 08:44:32 PM *ooer... please don't kill me but I don't approve of poking fingers at swatches*
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : grecopa October 09, 2006, 11:36:29 PM But Roz, it's so hard not to! >:D
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : 5594mike October 10, 2006, 01:02:17 AM yeah roz you have to touch them once ;D
you know if you add some of these hermione book props things start to add together with the third card down from the top the red flame like image could be the mermaids swirling hair under water. with the fith card down the text says ??? OF ???. maybe Y OF M and that could be MINISTRY OF MAGIC??? what do you guys think? with the seventh card the text says ???IC AN??? so could that be the other end of the word MAGIC and for it to carry on to say AND. as the dragon like image looks the same as the fith cards swatch. looking very simetrical like a logo??? yeah just thought to point what i think i can see ;D ;D : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : pinksamstar October 10, 2006, 02:18:59 AM i wish there were more scans on here of the variants, its getting really interesting, although im not sure its an M on the fifth one, maybe a W? maybe something to do with the magic of waterbeasts or something? as its so relevant to the film, what with the mermaids hand etc.... just a suggestion lol ::)
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Roz October 10, 2006, 03:55:21 AM Your wish is my (and Thomas') command

: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Sharon October 11, 2006, 12:44:01 AM Well this won't help much but I found it on the IMDb:
As Ron, Harry and Hermione are talking in the great hall, before George and Fred attempt to enter their names in the Goblet, Hermione is reading a book. We can't see the title, but the cover features the harlequin pattern of the UK editions of the Harry Potter novels. : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Bitsy October 11, 2006, 01:28:40 AM Well this won't help much but I found it on the IMDb: As Ron, Harry and Hermione are talking in the great hall, before George and Fred attempt to enter their names in the Goblet, Hermione is reading a book. Nice find, Sharon! : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Mike October 13, 2006, 05:54:09 AM Hope this helps!
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/EmmasOneandOnly/gofdvd_1295.jpg) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Bitsy October 14, 2006, 12:32:29 AM That's a good shot. It's a shame it's so dark in the Great Hall, but you can get a pretty good look at some drawings and coloring on the book. Thanks, Mike!
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Sharon October 14, 2006, 12:38:41 AM That is the best picture I have seen of the book Mike, well done ;D. You can make out some of the card swatches but I still have no idea what the book is :-\. But at least you can see it has a slip cover, hence the thin, paper like swatches.
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Mike October 14, 2006, 12:43:30 AM Here it is with a little color enhancement
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/EmmasOneandOnly/gofdvd_12952.jpg) : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Bitsy October 14, 2006, 12:59:21 AM Oooo! That's perfect! ;D Thank you, Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) You can really see the coloring on it now! It does have a lot of design to it, doesn't it?!
: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : Mike October 14, 2006, 01:02:59 AM My pleasure ;D
In the movie when she crosses her legs (the picture posted) the middle of the cover shines gold which explains some of the swatches. just popped the DVD in for a moment and slowed it down and zoomed it. The Title IS LIKE THIS IN THE CENTER and the dragon design is going around and through the letters and the "mermaid" hand is the person riding the dragon. : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : pinksamstar October 14, 2006, 08:47:09 PM :o wow mike your a star!!!! how amazing is that!!! i was convinced the prop was nothing to do with the book in her hands1 youve made my day ;D

And i have to thank John for giving me the chance to get it. :) I don't think, these cards have special card numbers, saw some of them, but no low number as far as i remember. : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : beatles99 November 26, 2006, 08:40:43 AM (http://www.towersweb.de/ForSale/GOFUHermBook5.jpg) [/quote] Anyone know these cards' numbers? : Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : beckham1 August 21, 2007, 07:27:14 AM I was hoping someone could help decifer the text on my book prop. The scan is much duller than the lettering which is a nice shiny Gold.

: Re: "Hermione's Book" Prop : beckham1 August 21, 2007, 11:26:15 PM sounds like it would make sense. Thanks FTY
