In the absence of any news about the new set, let's talk about the old one - maybe Mike or someone else with eagle-sharp eyes can help me. I have been wondering for a while about "Hermione's Book" prop from GOFU. Does anyone have any idea which book it's supposed to be? We've seen all sorts of variations of the card:

Does anyone have any idea of what the book might be? Whether it's a text on one of the reading lists that we have heard of or maybe just something obscure from the library?

It seems to me that Anna's swatch (RAG) might be something to do with dragons, and it looks pretty scaley in the background there. Julie's swatch says "of" and has something that could be a flower or a scaley dragon in the background. Has anyone else seen any that give any more insight? Please add in any new scans you find :)

Maybe Anna and Julie could tilt their cards and see a bit more of the lettering inside the die-cut?

I just looked at my card per Cindy's comment and the letter before the A is definitely an R.  The letter after the G looks to be a letter I, or possibly an N, but an I makes better sense.  So we have "RAGI", I wonder what word could that be from?  "RAGING"? ???

Maybe the letters are part of the author's name.

it is prob just a random library book and artbox being the LAME-O's that they are just slapped a picture of Hermione holding a book onto the card  :P

It looks like part of the Title has "Book of Magical Creatures"

my girlfiend sam has a hermiones book prop and on her swatch its got a red backgroung with faint wirting on it and a section of a arm and hand which looks abit scaley like a mermaids arm???? ??? ??? so we all was thought that the book about what creatures are in the lake ???
i'll see if i can get her to put it on for you guys :)

i went diving in to GOFU scans and comments pages. on page 28 to 30 i found this set of pics that bush 360 made of the three hermione book props he pulled and me and sam bought the one at the top left, with the arm

sorry for now that i cant get a better scan of sams book prop but i dont have the card at mine. as she has them safley kept at hers with her working scanner Gerrrrrrr!!!

this might not be too relevant, but what does everyones elses swatch feel like?? ours feels like really thin copy paper, i thought it was quite weird as it looks like it would feel embossed  ::)

Nice card!  Lovely color and the hand looks terrific.  ;D  Someone else will have to ring in about texture, I don't have one of those.  They all look to me like they should be really thick and leathery feeling.  ???

aww thankyou :) ive seen another one and it looks like it has part of an arm on it as well, and were wondering if it could be connected to the swatch on mine, ill go look for it in a bit :)

you know if you add some of these hermione book props things start to add together

with the third card down from the top the red flame like image could be the mermaids swirling hair under water.

with the fith card down the text says ??? OF ???. maybe Y OF M and that could be MINISTRY OF MAGIC??? what do you guys think?

with the seventh card the text says ???IC AN??? so could that be the other end of the word MAGIC and for it to carry on to say AND. as the dragon like image looks the same as the fith cards swatch. looking very simetrical like a logo???

yeah just thought to point what i think i can see ;D ;D

i wish there were more scans on here of the variants, its getting really interesting, although im not sure its an M on  the fifth one, maybe a W? maybe something to do with the magic of waterbeasts or something? as its so relevant to the film, what with the mermaids hand etc....   just a suggestion lol ::)

but these new ones have have just blown my theory out of the water, its definatly book about magic creates mabey its a book on blast ended skruwts as thats what they look after in the care of magical creatures class in the goblet of fire book?? ::) ::)

As Ron, Harry and Hermione are talking in the great hall, before George and Fred attempt to enter their names in the Goblet, Hermione is reading a book. We can't see the title, but the cover features the harlequin pattern of the UK editions of the Harry Potter novels.

That's a good shot.  It's a shame it's so dark in the Great Hall, but you can get a pretty good look at some drawings and coloring on the book.   Thanks, Mike!

That is the best picture I have seen of the book Mike, well done  ;D.  You can make out some of the card swatches but I still have no idea what the book is  :-\.  But at least you can see it has a slip cover, hence the thin, paper like swatches.

In the movie when she crosses her legs (the picture posted) the middle of the cover shines gold which explains some of the swatches.

I was hoping someone could help decifer the text on my book prop.  The scan is much duller than the lettering which is a nice shiny Gold.

Yeah, I always find this with this book :) I have been lucky enough to see a few shiney gold letter variants. It's definitely one of my fav props this one :)

And it's one I'm still searching for "the one" for me!!!  :'(
My favorite has always been that one with part of a dragon's head
and the neck!! *sigh*  :(
