its says they would like PJ to direct it but if i remember correct he said he didn't what to just after he finished the trilogy, has he said he would like to see it from a diffrent directors view. but i suppose time may of changed is views. wondering who will get the licence to produse the cards this time.

That's odd as every thing I have heard from Peter Jackson when he is asked about making "The Hobbit" is that he would love to do so once all the legal obstacles were out of the way.  That seems to be happenning now so it looks like MGM and New Line Cinema will be partners on the making of this much anticipated movie!   :)  I have a gut feeling Mr. Jackson will be directing this film which I hope will be two films long instead of one.

I read on a movie site I frequent this same story, but it had PJ in the Producer spot (much like he is with the Halo movie)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! PJ has been dumped from the Hobbit and another Rings prequel (The Simarillon?) :(

There is a chance of course, that it won't go ahead, but I really think he'd be punishing himself as much as he'd be punishing us... don't you agree?

I agree with Jo - I cannot picture anyone else but Peter Jackson at the helm!  Unfortunately this as in other things we all see boils down to greed plain and simple.   :P

You might say that, but I really think that Jackson deserves a reasonable share of the spoils of LOTR.

Why not? If you look at his track record it is nothing out of the ordinary. He then made a 10 hour + film, split it into three and lucked in at the right time. I have been told more than once that the best way to view the films is on DVD and pause to read the book when Jackson deemed it necessary to leave out integral stoyline and plot.There is no reason why The Hobbit shouldn't be OK in someone else's hands.

You misunderstood my post.  I do not deny that Peter Jackson is due his fair share of the profits.  My criticism is directed towards New Line Cinema.   :)
