Believe it or not, some very organised Yaks have been asking me about this year's secret santa. Is anyone interested in joining us in a Secret Santa this year?

I know in the past that people have both sent and received some delightful and thoughtful gifts and I know from my own experience that my secret santas have been just awesome :). It does seem early to start, but don't forget that your Santa may have opportunities to find you a gift well before Christmas, especially if your Santa is the sort that might order you a sketch, create something for you by hand, or visit a convention or book signing especially for you, so really the earlier we start, the better Santas we can all be :rofl:

This might sound a bit silly but what does one have to do to be a secret santa??

Basically you sign up, get info about a person from anywhere on the globe and think about what to send them for Christmas :) In return a totally different person will be given your details (name, address, likes/dislikes) and they'll be your Santa. It goes around in a circle so everyone is Santa to someone and everyone has a Santa.

is there a limit on the amount each person spends? and were do you sign up LOL

No real spending limit but it's important to get something (or some things) 'just right'

Thanks Roz I have submited my details but would sugest that you set a reasonable limit to the spend, then everyone would be on the same wavelength say £15 UK (Just a thought)

Well we've done it before and no one has been dissappointed as far as I have heard. People have often had very special things, signed books by Alan Lee and custom sketch cards, and I was even knitted a custom-length scarf once... these are just some that spring to mind, so I wouldn't want to curb anyone's creativity

I finally got my Secret Santa package sent off today and the Post Master said it should get to it's destination in ten days  ;D

Great stuff Wendi - my poor Secret Santa won't get theirs sent for a few more days (until Monday). But hopefully it should still arrive in time :)

Well if I remeber right most international posts deadline was the 11th which I hope is right because I haven't sent mine yet. I really think I should get around to it pretty soon ;D How any it be Decemeber already ::)

Mine should be sent out by 4 December which'll get to the destination before Christmas...  Still haven't decided what to send  ::)

Hey guys, if we carry on like this people will be able to work out who their Santa was by the postmark date :rofl: (and... admittedly the location too :rofl:)

Just a gentle reminder guys that the last posting date from Britain to "World Zone 2" (i.e. lands far far away such as Australia/NZ etc.) is the 8th, and to World Zone 1 (lands not quite so far away :)) is the 11th!

I expect 'foreign' post offices have similar upcoming dates, so check them out  to avoid disappointment:)

To be honest I was confused at the package and wasn't thinking at all until I found the letter in the box after I pulled the contents out, as it wasn't wrapped in Christmas wrapping or anything, so it caught me off guard. :)  But to be honest, I am a bad boy and probably would have opened it anyways :)

Oh, and in case anyone's thinking I'm 'getting at' them, I honestly can't remember who is Mark's secret Santa, I do have it written on a piece of paper at home though :) with arrows pointing to and from each santa :)

Next year I'll chop this piece of paper up and make it into Yak Shack Prop cards, send them out at random and everyone can trade to get the piece with their own name on :rofl:

Secret Santa, thank you  ;D

Apologies for not being on here for ages.
My secret santa present arrived a couple of weeks ago and I patiently waited until today to open it.
Inside were lots of goodies! Among them were lots of yummy treats--potato chips, tea, peanut brittle and a whole tin of hershey kisses (yummy-chocolate!), which I haven't had in ages! Also a very cool snapple lip juicers thing that I'm loving. And the highlight was a super cool LOTR: Return of the King book from Japan. It's pretty much all in Japanese. It looks to cover all sorts of interesting stuff and has some beautiful pictures (including copies of sketches) in it. I'll post a picture of it later. Thank you secret santa--wonderful and thoughtful gifts!

My Santa knows me so well he/she sent me a box of Supernatural and a box of Smallville S3 cards to open. Box-opening on christmas day is the best!! The smallville box only had an auto in it, no pieceworks (wierd!) but my Supernatural box more than made up for it...one pieceworks and a great auto!

Many thanks to my Secret Santa - awesome presents! Lots of sweets including Cadbury's Kiwi fruits (nice to try things that we don't get over here...). I haven't tried any yet because I was so full of turkey yesterday but just try and stop me today!

Also a lovely LOTR stamp set in a nice presentation pack (nice work there - my clever SS put that it was a calendar on the customs form and so that's what I believed it was until I opened it! Clever!)

I loved the Classic Pooh card along with the Classic and regular Winnie the Pooh stuff that came with it. The snow globe was perfect and to top it off Fusae (Mikey's host mom from Japan) sent me a Winnie the Pooh snow globe also and it goes great with the one my secret santa sent me. The Secret Santa one has Pooh sitting on the snow after he fell from skiing and the one from Fusae has Pooh skiing. They look great together  ;D Thanks again to my Secret Santa for the gifts  ;D

I too was out of town over the holidays and just now got my mail picked up.  My Secret Santa present was waiting for me (along with a pile of Christmas Bills).

Thank you to my Secret Santa for the Doctor Who goodie box!  Lots of things we never see here in the states including an animated bank (batteries included too!).

This was fun, will look forward to doing it again next year.
