I was watching five GOFU cards on Ebay that were listed as US shipping only. After contacting the seller, she said she would consider shipping to the UK in the future, but not at the moment. This seller has 0 feedback, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere. The devil in me emailed her 10 hours before the auctions ended to let her know what my first bids would have been  >:D This is what happened to the finished auctions:-

Fleur Auto...my proposed bid $50...sold for $34.33

Karkaroff costume #850/850...mpb $20...sold for $9.99

Stadium banner...mpb $20...sold for $9.99

Death Eater DE1...mpb $40...sold for $29

Letter to Sirius #76/90...mpb $60...sold for... wait for it .....$46.12  :o :o :o

The same happens when sellers don't offer Paypal. as overseas bidders can't bid unless they can send cash in the post, or have the hassle of sending a bankers draft.

I've seen auctions by UK sellers that have sold well below normal prices even though the seller accepts PayPal.  I think the reason why the card selling prices were low was because of the high shipping charges for international buyers.  I'd have to really love a card to pay $15 for shipping to the US. :P  I know why the shipping charge is so high, to protect the seller, but I personally would rather pay less for shipping.

I didn't bid very much on them precisely because the seller had NO feedback at all... I'm willing to take a chance, but not that much of a chance...  The Sirius letter was also blank - no writing...

I'll admit, I haven't been paying much attention to the Sirius letter cards, seeing as how I'll probably never get one  ;), but have any of the Sirius letter cards we've seen had writing on them? All the ones I've seen have been blank.

Anyone with a scan of a Sirius Letter that isn't blank?

The only variant in the price guide is this one.  It has some spots, but no writing.

This PROP should have been called "Envelope to Sirius".

The word "Sirius" is written on the envelope.  There should be one or two swatches with those letters, unless Artbox wasn't allowed to use it (like the permission form).

Why wouldn't Artbox be able to use it :-\

Probably the only variant is some owl spit, in which case, if I had pulled one like that, I'd probably get bird flu.   ;)

You say that (and indeed we did hear that) but we got more interesting things on the permission form than we have had on the Sirius letter. Crests. Potter, Per(mission), etc etc. When it came out there were quite a lot of permission forms with writing on, and the price didn't differ too much for those with or without writing on.

Supposedly, Warner Bros. didn't want the text of the permission form used for the cards.  We originally heard something similar for the wanted poster, that there would be only blank swatches, but we ended up getting a lot of really nice variants with lettering and parts of the picture.

This could be a case of the other auction falling through, although the number is different   :-\  They are a major seller and so hopefully there is nothing dodgy about this.  However the buyer of the first card is a major HP collector - I have bid (and lost) against them many times.  How about dropping them an email and asking if they have the card?

This seller would know better than to use a stock photo on such an expensive card, especially one where there are so few variants.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you  :o=

Hate to be a killjoy, but this seller has done this kind of thing before - on several occasions if my memory serves me right!  :-\
I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed you get a speedy response Jackie and that the card you've bought is as good as the one shown in the auction.  :o=
I doubt the other buyer will have let the original deal fall through, but it's worth a polite enquiry through ebay to see if they have the card in their possession or not, like Sharon's said. ;)

I just compared the two again, and there are two different card numbers.  :P
I just emailed the seller again (still no response from the first one) letting them know that I will most likely be requiring a refund!  >:( We'll see tomorrow!!!  :P

Good luck on getting a reply from him Jackie as he's not known for being particularly easy to get hold of.
Mind you, you could phone him if push came to shove - if you want the phone number I have for this seller then PM me and I'll let you have it.
o'course, I've never used it myself so I can't say for certain it actually works, but let me know if you need it okay? ;)

Has he actually sent the card out to you yet or will you be collecting it tomorrow when you fetch the rest of your mail?
If it's on it's way then it might be an idea to wait till it arrives before going down the ebay 'item received-not-as-described' route as I'm sure starting that ball rolling will elicit an immediate response from him, don't you? ;) >:D

If you guys remember THIS (http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2372.msg65221#msg65221)...well, he's the one i bought the Harry Pajamas from. I was lucky to get a card better than the one shown in the auction. I hope that's your case too Jackie :o= :o=.

Yep, he's a pain to get a hold of. Always shows great cards, but doesnt usually send great cards. Same thing happened to Trey with a Fizzing Whizzbees card. Ive emailed numerous times to find out about cards listed, but never heard a peep.

I bought my GOF Daily Prophet from non-sportsman (Endless World) and it was EXACTLY the same as in the photo... Same number, same picture...

This seller is shonky/dodgy/takes advantage of people in my opinion. I brought a fizzing whizbees off him, thought it was a variant but received a plain old orange swatch.

He finally got back to me saying he would give me a refund but it was really not worth the effort, as I had to send it half-way round the world again I didnt know if he could be trusted to say that he had received it....so I just kept it and still have the taste of utter bitterness in my mouth after more than a year...will not buy from him again unless I want a stock-standard card, actually I dont think I will buy from him again ever.

Sorry doesnt really put a positive spin on your situation though Jackie  :(

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this seller uses the same stock photos for all of his listings. :P  For the C15 Gryffindor Tie, he shows a picture where the swatch has two bold stripes on each and every auction. ::)  Jackie, you should e-mail him to find out if the card pictured is the you'll receive, but I have a feeling it won't be. :-\
