: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 30, 2005, 02:53:52 AM Ok, i'm not sure if this topic has been started already but its been going strong on another forum and i REALLY wanted to share my new fav sketch card with everyone so here goes....
(http://img7.echo.cx/img7/1739/balrog9pg.jpg) (http://www.imageshack.us) What do you think?? My first commish from Cynthia Cummens!! Awesome isn't it? Feel free to post pics of your fav commish or pack pulled sketches..... : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna June 30, 2005, 03:01:19 AM WOW!! Fab sketch card you have there!! Thanks for sharing it with us!! ;) ;D ;D ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz June 30, 2005, 03:37:21 AM Nope, we only have "Who is your favourite sketchcard artist"
;D Yes that's a terrific sketch. I haven't had this commission yet but that's not stopping me flashing around the scan I got ;) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/RozT/Voyager/VoyPaint.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : EmmasOneandOnly June 30, 2005, 03:38:56 AM Those are too great and BRIGHT sketch cards.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz June 30, 2005, 03:43:08 AM They are both awesome! :D
But they do stretch the boundary of the word "sketch" somewhat in my opinion :) These are top notch miniature works of art! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna June 30, 2005, 03:48:06 AM OOOOOOOO *drools* ANOTHER fandabadoozy card!! Luvverly!!!! ;D ;D ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa June 30, 2005, 05:15:19 AM Those are so cool! 8) How did you 2 go about getting a sketch card commissioned? Are the artists on ebay or did you contact them?
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz June 30, 2005, 12:56:32 PM I contacted Mr Martineck - you can go to his website www.warrenmartineck.com to do the same, if you have very specific requests then send him an email or if you want to give him a topic and let him work his magic then that's fine too :)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa June 30, 2005, 08:03:35 PM Thanks for the link, Roz! Those are very reasonable prices, I can actually afford one! Hmmm...maybe a fighting Yoda sketch could be in my future. ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT July 01, 2005, 04:14:44 AM Kelly,
My one was from Cynthia Cummens... you can take a peek at her website http://www.cynthiacummensart.com/ which is great (as is yours Warren:)). But if ther eis any particualr artist you are after then you can type in the name in google for a search and a lot of them have websites with details on how to get commish's if they do them!! I've had personally Warren Martineck, Amy Pronovost, Pat Hamill and Cynthia Cummens do pieces for me..... but there are a ton more artists up there!! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna July 01, 2005, 04:22:10 AM Thanks for posting the link to Cynthia's site and I liked her activity class on how to draw Padmé ... neat! ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa July 01, 2005, 07:29:52 AM Thanks for the links! Now I have a new quest-to find out who my favorite artist is and commission a sketch. 8)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT August 24, 2005, 02:53:39 PM Okay all you sketch card/commission/mini works of art (trying to cover all bases here) fans, here is my latest commish form Pat Hamill... i think you will all agree, its awesome!!!
It was actually completed a little over 2 months ago, but when Pat originally sent it to me via registered post, Royal Mail claimed to lose it and didnt know where it was even though it had a tracking number.... after we both thought it was lost forever, it arived back with pat early last week and he sent it on to me again!!! SO here it is guys...... enjoy!! (http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/3852/thingvshulk3lp.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) Mnay thanx to ya Pat.... i'll buy ya a pint at Memorabilia  : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Anna August 24, 2005, 08:44:47 PM That's a very nice sketch RupT! 8) I would have been frantic if I were you and thought the Royal Mail lost it. :-\ I'm glad you finally got it, it was well worth the wait. ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT November 09, 2005, 04:13:52 PM Here is a pic of my latest sketch. My first aftermarket Star Wars sketch....
Can you spot the deliberate mistake :D Drawn by John McCrea... a british artist nonetheless :) (http://img467.imageshack.us/img467/4866/p10605952xb.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz November 09, 2005, 06:52:08 PM Awesome sketch... erm... I don't know anything about Star Wars, so I'm going to go with the idea that this dude - is his name Darth Maul? Isn't in Clone Wars... or that holding his lightsabre like that would result in a severed leg... or the fact that he's managing a grimace/smile :P
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Bryanjs14 November 09, 2005, 07:53:38 PM Roz, you got it.
He isn't even in the Clone Wars show. But maul is my favorite character...so I would take a maul sketch on any card Beautiful sketch : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : tialessa November 10, 2005, 01:17:33 AM (http://home.mindspring.com/~dwalther/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/inkedbasestar.jpg)
I have loads of problems deciding which Galactica sketches I like best, but this is my favorite today :D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz November 10, 2005, 01:32:55 AM That's a beauty ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT November 10, 2005, 04:02:13 PM tia,
that is indeed awesome... you do have a GREAT selection of BG sketches though!!! i am so jealous!!! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : tialessa November 10, 2005, 10:12:27 PM tia, that is indeed awesome... you do have a GREAT selection of BG sketches though!!! i am so jealous!!! Thanks, I'm quite pleased with my Galactica collection :) It's been rough to put together and I'm still missing 3 Martinecks for what I consider a "master set" of his sketches. Still need Ovion, Cylon Commander (Color only so I'm not holding my breath), and Multiple Vipers. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT November 10, 2005, 10:22:34 PM Do share pics of them when you can matey.... i'd love to see them!!

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT December 30, 2005, 07:05:40 PM Easiest way is to get one comissioned mate!!!
You can get exactly what you want form the artist of your choice!!! 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : mcgonagall December 30, 2005, 07:41:47 PM i think with the harry potter charaters that might be a problem
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT December 30, 2005, 08:33:13 PM How come??
On personalised sketch cards, artists are in no way (as far as i know) restricted. They can draw what ever you (the collector wants) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : mcgonagall December 30, 2005, 08:51:12 PM mmm i might look into that as i think sketch cards of mcgonagall and hagrid would be very cool and i think there might be other yak shackers who would like there favorite harry potter character done too
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT December 30, 2005, 09:09:17 PM You definately should...
If you want a list of artists and their webistes, PM me.... You check out their work and decide who you want to draw what.... whether you want realistic sketch or something else along the lines of Amy Pronovost or Grant Gould etc etc..... possibilites are endless!!! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Sharon December 31, 2005, 01:52:37 AM I posted on the Christmas thread but I will say it again - that Warren card is gorgeous :-*
I definitely think you could get a sketch card done mcgonagall. The only restriction (if you can call it that) is reselling it. I know on Warrens site he asks that you don't sell his commissioned cards on Ebay. But once you have it in your collection I can't imagine you ever wanting to sell it ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT December 31, 2005, 05:44:35 AM I personally can;t think of any reason why you want to sell on your commish's on ebay... these cards are personailsed for a reason and (to me personally) mean way to much to then just "try" and sell thm on!!
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : mcgonagall December 31, 2005, 05:57:34 AM if i get a sketch card it is going only to one place and that is my collection
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Rich65 December 31, 2005, 12:36:05 PM Well
Now that I have a scanner/printer thanks to My Brother in Law I can post Some of My Sketches soon. 2 of Julie's favorites are Her Laughing Scooby Doo and Shaggy from the Mysteries and Monsters set. Mine is a 5 x 7 Lexx Sketch of Xev by Dan Parsons. I had Xenia Seeberg sign it and She loved it. It is a Nice Likeness of Her. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : goldenavenger December 31, 2005, 10:29:12 PM Here's 2 comissioned cards from Alex Perkins. They are Iron man on the right and foe Fing Fang Foom on the left.
(http://img496.imageshack.us/img496/4955/finfangfoomandironmanalexperki.th.jpg) (http://img496.imageshack.us/my.php?image=finfangfoomandironmanalexperki.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz January 01, 2006, 03:02:36 AM Wow, I don't know the source material from your cards but you don't need to know it to appreciate them! They are awesome!
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : banditwolf January 01, 2006, 08:32:07 AM How much do comission's generally cost? I think I like the idea of it.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : goldenavenger January 01, 2006, 08:36:23 PM I'll say that each artist will charge differently. The full range is from $5 to $175. With that said I would say the majority is between $10-$35 and it's up to you and the artist as to whether it's pencil, ink, inked and colored, how many characters.........all that will determine how much.
I've also gone to comic book shows in the artist alley and had plenty of artists sketch me a card for nothing. I bring my own plank cards (out of 100 lb. bristol board cut to size). And some will ask for a small fee. It's fun to talk to them and see the drawing come together in front of you. --Tim : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT January 02, 2006, 03:58:22 AM goldenavenger, those are helly cool!!!
Who is Alex perKins and how can i contanct him for a commish,... even though i'm asking, i'm sure i'll google his name later on tonight!!! PS: Is that Alex's on card stock? : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : goldenavenger January 02, 2006, 04:31:16 AM RupT- He's from Canada and here's his site: http://www.alexanderperkins.com/
And those were just blank card stock I made myself and sent to him. Ttyl, Tim : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT March 01, 2006, 04:50:37 AM Okay here are the commissions i got from Cynthia at G-Mex a couple of weeks ago... sorry about the wait:

Here's a link to my site where you can check-out my numerous commissioned sketch cards: http://hometown.aol.com/collector838/myhomepage/index.html I also have an e-mail list of "receptive" artists that are more than willing to do custom sketch cards. E-mail me if interested in the list! Mike D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : goldenavenger March 02, 2006, 07:19:58 AM Mike is the master of commissioned sketch cards!! That was totally a bargain buy. Thanks, Cat!
(http://members.sparedollar.com/gojags/obiwan.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 18, 2006, 01:41:16 AM Wow - what a great sketch. I was thinking they'd be very rough ones with it being inside the front cover and a freebie ;D
Fantastic :D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Eve April 24, 2006, 01:54:04 AM Here's my new favorite, for the moment ;D
(http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f273/catcardlady/myler.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 24, 2006, 02:49:27 PM Awesome, that Myler guy never fails to hit the spot. I have a few favs by him myself :D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 24, 2006, 06:07:27 PM That's a great card, Eve! I love most of Myler's sketches. I got lucky and picked up this beauty a week or so after the set hit.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/lotrevolutionmylerboromir.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Eve April 24, 2006, 08:15:13 PM That's a gorgeous card, kbmum! I'm trying to decide if I should have Myler do aftermarket coloring. I know it would look amazing, but I'm really fond of the sketch the way it is too. I keep teetering.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 24, 2006, 08:21:02 PM Thanks! I'm facing the same decision with a Hodges sketch. I'd really like to have it inked and colored, since that's the only way I'll be able to afford getting a colored card in my collection, but it looks great in pencil, too. Many of the artists have a backlog of commissions, so I figure that gives me a bit more time to decide.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa April 26, 2006, 01:09:37 AM I just got a scan from Rich Molinelli showing my first ever commissioned sketch! Can you say COLOR!? Actually, it's a gift for someone else, but I wanted to put it here anyway. It's Zam Wessel, the shape-shifting bounty hunter from Star Wars episode 2 (I think it was ep. 2). :-\ Anyway, thanks Rich! I know a first grade teacher who's going to be extremely happy with this! ;D
(http://members.sparedollar.com/gojags/Zam_Wessel1.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily April 26, 2006, 01:19:23 AM Kelly!! 8) That is really cool!! 8) I love the colors!!
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna April 26, 2006, 03:09:07 AM OOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo!!!! :o :o :o 8)
I think you've just earned your daughter some MAJOR Brownie points with her teacher over this card Kelly!! ::) Super card Rich .... fab use of colour too!! ;) ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : EmpPalpatine April 26, 2006, 05:03:36 AM Kelly - I'm so glad you liked it! It was a pleasure doing someone who wasn't Slave Leia or Darth Maul
HP & Nienna - Thanks so much guys! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 26, 2006, 05:56:51 AM This isn't a sketch card per say, as it is slightly larger dimensions then a card, but it is still one of the nicest sketches I've ever received. The story behind this: Back when I had the great joy to be living in England for a few years (due to being in the US Marines at the time and being stationed over there), I ran across the address for Cam Kennedy, the artist on a good number of Dark Horse 'Star Wars' comics. I wrote him, asking if it might be possible if he might be able to send me a simple 'Star Wars' sketch, as I admired his art so. Well, he sent back a nice letter (I got this back about a two weeks after Sept. 11th 2001, so he talked about that and, as I'd mentioned the reason I was living in the UK, asked me to be safe about my duties; a very kind gentleman, Mr. Kennedy is), and a sketch, which I think went above and beyond the simple sketch I'd asked if he could do (all this, with no charge; again, a very kind gentleman he). This is the sketch he sent:
(http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/4797/camkennedy9wh.th.jpg) (http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=camkennedy9wh.jpg) Like I said, not a sketch card, per say, but still one of the nicest ones I've gotten. (if'n I shouldn't have posted this in the 'fav sketch cards' section, my apologies) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna April 26, 2006, 06:36:32 AM Rich - you're VERY welcome!! I feel sure if I point my son in this direction he'd be another one clamouring after a Darth Maul sketch - you should see the MASSIVE poster he has of him on his bedroom wall behind his bed, not to mention the large cardboard promo items of an X-Wing Fighter and a Tie Fighter hanging from his bedroom ceiling too. :o ::)
As you can probably tell, he's a huge Star Wars fan and has been since the age of three! ;) 8) Casey - that's gorgeous sketch you have there and so generous of Mr Kennedy to do it for you in such wonderful detail! ;) ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa April 26, 2006, 08:26:29 AM Wow, Darthmactor! I can see why that one is your favorite. And the story behind it makes it even more special.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily April 27, 2006, 02:44:05 AM OK!!! This has got to be the BEST sketch scene EVER!!!!!
I ordered this from the ever most talented Warren!! ;D All I can say is... :o :o :o :o AMAZING!!!!! Thank you so much Warren!! I can honestly say that this has topped anything that I have seen!! 0:) AND IT"S MINE!! >:D  (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b25/motocrossmom/WhompingWillow.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : tialessa April 27, 2006, 02:47:49 AM OK!!! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/Bryanjs14/topps-padme-field.jpg) Isn't Padme just beautiful? I told him the scene I wished to have a sketch of her from and he really really came through and just did a perfect job on it. He made a customer out of me! I am going to hopfully have him do an Episode 3 Padme sketch soon. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa April 27, 2006, 04:59:29 AM Martineck- :o :o :o
Martinez- :o :o :o : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 27, 2006, 05:10:11 AM My goodness, that Martineck is just stunning... I think I'll write to Mr Martineck and tell him you've moved to the UK... and give him your new address, which is in Cambridge of course ;)
I just love it! The detail is out of this world, and I can't imagine how wonderful it will look in the flesh : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : goldenavenger April 27, 2006, 06:30:49 AM Yes, nice sketch cards. Especially the Martineck!!! ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Anna April 27, 2006, 06:48:55 AM Cool sketch Jackie! 8) Warren did an excellent job on it. ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : EmpPalpatine April 27, 2006, 07:57:53 AM I don't know if I'm allowed to post these but these are two favs from a series I did for someone recently so I guess that counts!
(http://www.mankindram.com/Images/Sketch%20Cards/AT-AT_Walker.jpg)(http://www.mankindram.com/Images/Sketch%20Cards/Indiana_Jones_Boulder.jpg) I'm going to be gone from posting for a bit, as I need a series of tests done, so I'll be back in a few weeks, prolly around 3-4. Wish me luck guys and gals. Rich : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily April 27, 2006, 07:59:43 AM I love the Indiana Jones one!! 8)
Good Luck, Rich!!! ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ferdinand_the_yak April 27, 2006, 08:18:49 AM Best of luck Rich - we'lll see you back soon! :)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : savage727 April 28, 2006, 12:50:28 AM Rich:
Take care and good luck with your tests. Jackie: Great sketch and one to certainly be proud of. :) Casey: Outstanding sketch of the Bounty Hunter!! Great story behind the sketch that makes it all the more wonderful. :) Semper Fi from a fellow Marine! 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 28, 2006, 01:20:24 AM Semper Fi from a fellow Marine! 8) LOL you guys make me smile. Semper Fidelis Always faithful. The original motto of the city of Bristol to show allegiance to the Crown ;)? Of course this must be what you mean :P :P To be fair... the Romans might have used it too     we need some Italian representation on this board ;D ;D I can't remember how the Marine tune goes, and with a forum it's rather hard for you to hum it to me :P : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 01:24:52 AM Casey: Outstanding sketch of the Bounty Hunter!! Great story behind the sketch that makes it all the more wonderful. :) Semper Fi from a fellow Marine! 8) They got you too, huh? ;) Oohrah. Roz, poor, poor Roz, the Marines are much to special (see, I can say that, since I was one, hehe) to just have a tune; no, a tune will not do. We have the Marine Corps hymn, much better then a tune. http://www.instantknowledgenews.com/marine.htm There you go, has the music & the lyrics, for all your MC hymnial needs. :D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : beckham1 April 28, 2006, 10:37:37 AM Well here is one most have already seen it. Funny thing is I am not even much of a Frodo fan.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/dlecours1313/FrodoCatSketch.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ferdinand_the_yak April 28, 2006, 10:45:43 AM That's a hideous card Dave. Send it to me and I will get rid of it for you. Heck, I'll even pay shipping 8)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 28, 2006, 02:15:29 PM They got you too, huh? ;) Oohrah. Roz, poor, poor Roz, the Marines are much to special (see, I can say that, since I was one, hehe) to just have a tune; no, a tune will not do. We have the Marine Corps hymn, much better then a tune. What? Hymns don't have tunes in America? What a dull idea. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : savage727 April 28, 2006, 02:38:01 PM Casey is correct Roz - here a tune is something very short maybe a note or two while our Hymn is a much longer piece of music - 3 verses in fact! :) Casey were you assigned to the U.S. Embassy in the Marine Security Guard or were you at the Sub Base in Scotland?
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 28, 2006, 02:41:33 PM Ahh, no a tune is the main part of the music (excluding the bridges) it might be the chorus or one of the verses. It's amazing how much we use the same words differently. Apparently the word 'scheme' in the States implies evil. Here it's just a plan, or a reward 'scheme' or perhaps a schematic of a building.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 02:45:53 PM Casey is correct Roz - here a tune is something very short maybe a note or two while our Hymn is a much longer piece of music - 3 verses in fact! :) Casey were you assigned to the U.S. Embassy in the Marine Security Guard or were you at the Sub Base in Scotland? Neither. I spent some time with the Embassy guys every time I went down to London though, good people. I was stationed outside the little town of Harrogate with Co. G at RAF Menwith Hill Station (known to the locals as "the place with the giant golf balls"). Only station in Scotland I knew of was Edsel, and that closed back in '94 or '96, before I was even in. Roz, yep, hence the wonderfully corny line in all the intentionally bad vaudevillian plays, "You'll never get away with your dastardly scheme!" ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 28, 2006, 02:48:47 PM outside the little town of Harrogate Mind who you are 'littling' - I have relatives in Harrogate. Did you try the spa water which has been used for years to kill all ailments? Oh dear Lord that stuff's terrible. Roz, yep, hence the wonderfully corny line in all the intentionally bad vaudevillian plays, "You'll never get away with your dastardly scheme!" ;D A scheme can be dastardly here too, but it isn't necessarily so ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 03:00:22 PM outside the little town of Harrogate Mind who you are 'littling' - I have relatives in Harrogate. Did you try the spa water which has been used for years to kill all ailments? Oh dear Lord that stuff's terrible. Oh, lord yes they are terrible. Tried it once on a lark, never again. You have relatives in Harrogate? I'm sorry. :'( Just kidding. Harrogate was a good enough place. I fondly remember many a night out, starting at Crabtree's and working are way through to ending it at Jimmy's (back when Jimmy's was still Jimmy's, instead of whatever the heck it is now) and the late night chip shop next door. Ah, good times those. ;D Roz, yep, hence the wonderfully corny line in all the intentionally bad vaudevillian plays, "You'll never get away with your dastardly scheme!" ;D A scheme can be dastardly here too, but it isn't necessarily so ;) Well, ya' got me on that one. You can take down the roadblocks now. >:D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : savage727 April 28, 2006, 03:01:27 PM Isn't it amazing how small the world is Roz! Casey with his connection to Harrogate and yours! :) The Sub Base is at Holly Loche and has a Marine Security Detachment there due to the nuclear weapons on board the subs. I have 31 years in the Active & Reserve Marine Corps and am on medical leave due to an illness. I was XO of an F/A-18 Hornet Fighter Squadron before become sick. :P

Ah, good times those. ;D Whilst Harrogate is a nice place for calmer, older folk, I'm not sure it's the greatest place for a 'night out'. ;D the best I could recommend would be tea at Betty's  I expect you probably travelled to the bigger cities. The Yorkshire coast is beautiful. Although mists can come over quite quickly in winter. Well, ya' got me on that one. You can take down the roadblocks now. >:D Roadblocks? I've got you on the banned passport list ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 03:20:00 PM Whilst Harrogate is a nice place for calmer, older folk, I'm not sure it's the greatest place for a 'night out'. ;D the best I could recommend would be tea at Betty's  I expect you probably travelled to the bigger cities. The Yorkshire coast is beautiful. Although mists can come over quite quickly in winter. I did travel to the bigger cities quite often, but you'd be surprised at the nightlife in Harrogate. It is actually pretty good, help largely in part by the surprising number of younger people now living there (though even they complain that Harrogate is a community of oldies  ) and the presence of both US and British Military Instillations nearby. Roadblocks? I've got you on the banned passport list ;) *sigh* It's not the first time, it won't be the last. ::) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 28, 2006, 03:25:18 PM I did travel to the bigger cities quite often, but you'd be surprised at the nightlife in Harrogate. It's almost like the people planning where to put these military installations don't care what you do with your evenings  :P lol they are usually pretty remote... then there's less of a chance of people taking an interest ;) (X files moment) Roadblocks? I've got you on the banned passport list ;) *sigh* It's not the first time, it won't be the last. ::) I won't even go there ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 03:30:24 PM They don't care, actually, that's why there is usually a handy liquor and cigs shop on base. >:D
Ah, yes, good idea not to go there. The Korean Ambassador did, and look what happened to him... (okay, the punchline of that joke is predicated on the fact that you realize that no one in England or the US knows what ever happens to a Korean Ambassador...mainly 'cause they don't care, but that's neither here nor there...) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : canny19 April 28, 2006, 05:08:01 PM OK here is my sketch card from a competition I on on another board
Cat staggs drew it, and it looks amazing, even if I do say so myself! 8) (http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3351/sketch8fq.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 05:09:59 PM Very nice, great rendition of a fun character ;D

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 05:26:31 PM Dark Willow, which is Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer on a Bady Trip. >:D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 28, 2006, 05:31:01 PM Thanks! I had no idea -- I've never watched the show. ::)

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : beckham1 April 28, 2006, 09:08:59 PM Dark Willow, which is Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer on a Bady Trip. >:D I never watched that show I didn't know they got into drugs. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Bryanjs14 April 28, 2006, 09:16:35 PM lol I THINK she was actually possessed or something like that (correct me if I am wrong...I remember watching a rerun once where she went to "Dark")
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor April 28, 2006, 09:34:09 PM lol I THINK she was actually possessed or something like that (correct me if I am wrong...I remember watching a rerun once where she went to "Dark") Okay, consider yourself corrected. ;D Hah, just playing. No, she wasn't possessed, or on drugs. All that seasons she had been dabling in stronger and darker magiks, and then her lover got killed by someone who had ment to kill Buffy, so Willow kind of...went over to the dark side. >:D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Eve April 28, 2006, 11:33:05 PM lol I THINK she was actually possessed or something like that (correct me if I am wrong...I remember watching a rerun once where she went to "Dark") Okay, consider yourself corrected. ;D Hah, just playing. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa May 04, 2006, 05:29:39 PM I'll do whatever. :) HP is popular for some because we'll never get any sketches from Artbox. :'(
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Sharon May 05, 2006, 01:52:39 AM I'll do whatever. :) HP is popular for some because we'll never get any sketches from Artbox. :'( To anyone from Artbox who is taking a sneaky peek, take a good look at Kelly's sketches. See how brilliant a sketch card set would be (but not this year :o= ). You even have your first artist on board - Greco ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa May 05, 2006, 07:46:01 AM Oh Sharon, you're too kind. :-*
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor May 05, 2006, 11:40:10 AM I just did a sketch card, it's of the invisible man, what do you think?

Anyway, I asked Kelly a favor, and I can not tell you how pleased I am with the result. Not only is the picture perfect, but the boarder she made for the card is more than I could ever ask for. I had to share the card with all of you, as I am more pleased than I could imagine. Thank you for the wonderful gift Kelly ;D

I'm thinking twins!! ;) :o= : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : beckham1 May 17, 2006, 07:46:47 AM RupT
Here is the best SW Heritage sketch I pulled. I thought you might like it. BTW it is up for grabs I have no attachment to it if anyone wants to trade for Evo Sketches or make an offer. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/dlecours1313/DarthMaulHeritageSketch.jpg) Pack pulled BTW, not aftermarket OH and Kelly I love the Hermione, that stock makes it even better. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum May 17, 2006, 07:57:01 AM Great job, Kelly! I love the map in the background and the banner with Hermione's name in it. :)
Dave, that sketch is awesome. Who's the artist? : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : beckham1 May 17, 2006, 07:59:56 AM I am pretty sure it is O'Neil
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa May 17, 2006, 08:28:51 AM Thanks everyone! I'm going to eventually do the trio in that style for myself.
Terrific looking card, Dave. Darth Maul strikes a pose! 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : beckham1 May 17, 2006, 08:36:04 AM Kelly is that like the best drawing you ever did? Did you spend like 4 hours doing the shading on her upper lip?
Also I caught you a delicious Bass : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ferdinand_the_yak May 17, 2006, 12:50:09 PM This is already in the Mount Doom thread, but I reckon its more appropriate here. Some awesome work by Cat ;D ;D ;D
(http://www.airbrushcat.com/newart2/Legolas.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa May 17, 2006, 07:02:31 PM Jo, are those yours? :o Lucky!
Kelly is that like the best drawing you ever did? Did you spend like 4 hours doing the shading on her upper lip? No, my best drawing is a liger. It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's a cross between a lion and a tiger. They're bred for their magical powers. Also I caught you a delicious Bass : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : rns91294 May 17, 2006, 11:09:25 PM Kelly, do you have a scan of that drawing? I woudl love to see it.
Wow, Jo :o Those are great! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz May 17, 2006, 11:13:35 PM Kelly that's just wonderful, and I love the Marauder's Map background ... I solomly swear that you are certainly up to no good
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa May 18, 2006, 03:08:30 AM Kelly, do you have a scan of that drawing? I woudl love to see it. I was just kidding about the liger! ;) Have you seen Napolean Dynomite? Dave and I quote it occassionally. His post about shading the upper lip and catching me a bass is dialog from the movie. My post back to him was too. I think the movie is hillarious, but I don't think it's everyones humor. Most people I know just think it's stupid. ::)Wow, Jo :o Those are great! BTW Dave, love the quote in your signature. That's another hillarious movie! Then there was this one time, at band camp...... Kelly that's just wonderful, and I love the Marauder's Map background ... I solomly swear that you are certainly up to no good  Thank you! I wanted to do one with a background color like the Evolution cards so I could use the white pen. Then I thought "wow, that sort of looks like the marauders map color!": Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT May 19, 2006, 08:11:53 PM Okay guys, here my my newest acquisitions from the genius that is Warren Martineck...

Wow those cards look awesome, I'm a huge starwars fan and always have been ever since I was sat down as a small child to watch episode 4 A new Hope when I was five yrs old. How do I go about getting a card like that Darth Maul as it looks superb also I would love one of Chewbacca from episode 4,5,or 6 and how much will it cost me as it looks a great extra to our collection of cards. Please let me know Cheers Paul : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 06, 2006, 02:50:56 PM Paul, shoot Kelly a PM....

Cheers Paul : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz June 08, 2006, 02:09:04 PM Well guys - can you guess who this gem is crafted by?

Do you remember the Aardman adverts for 'heat electric' with the large tropical cat saying "space I need space"? That card is awesome Roz,the colours are superb can't wait to see the Batman Begins card he's designing for us to finish our master set off with. The pic you have posted just makes it look like the ship and scenery is alive and moving,he also designs tattoo pieces aswell which pleases me as i have a few but always wanted a top artist to design my Starwars back piece, but will have to save even more for that. As soon as I get the scan will someone help me post it on here please? Cheers Paul : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily June 08, 2006, 09:50:01 PM :o :o :oAMAZING!!! :o :o :o

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Eve August 29, 2006, 12:09:32 AM Although it's not the same card, exactly, I picked up one very similar to the one I've linked to at Dee's show Saturday for $17.00 by Grant Gould. For that price, I could NOT pass it up. I love it! It's a portrait of the witchking, which is on the far left, second to last row under Grant Gould's Evolution sketches. As soon as I get off my behind and get a battery for my camera, I'll post a pic.

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa October 07, 2006, 07:05:23 AM These aren't really cards, they're 4x6 and 5x7 crayon art that I got from Katie Cook today. Very affordable BTW. ;D
The first is Firefly's Kaylee in a very cool "Serenity love" pose. 8) The next is a portrait of my 16 year old puppy Bear, that passed away not too long ago. She caught his "happy face" that I remember so well. Dogs can smile you know. Time to cry a happy tear. :) Thanks, Katie! http://nonsportupdate.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1131047811/m/7121065781 ECL did you draw the amazing Bender card? I think they've deleted the old threads which is a shame, because we can't see what people submitted last year. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ECL October 20, 2006, 01:16:13 AM Yes, I did the bender chasing the beer bottles one. I'll try to find a scan of it, but it does look like the old link to last years entries is gone!
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz October 20, 2006, 01:17:21 AM Yeah I'd love to see that - it deserves to be here in the fav sketchcards section, it was a blinder/bender... whatever :P
Fab C3PO ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa October 20, 2006, 02:44:24 AM I'm definately going to let Jordan submit some sketches! Would I still qualify? This is in the rules and I've sold about 10 commissioned pieces. :-\
The idea is to have the contest open to Card Talk members, their families, friends and guests. This contest is not open to professional artists, those with aspirations to become a professional artist or those who are creating and selling commissioned works of art. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ECL October 21, 2006, 04:28:50 AM Yeah I'd love to see that - it deserves to be here in the fav sketchcards section, it was a blinder/bender... whatever :P Fab C3PO ;D (http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k68/beanforsale/-1.jpg) Here's a scan of the card I did, you can see some of the other entries also here http://nonsportupdate.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3631047811/m/3071089451 (http://nonsportupdate.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3631047811/m/3071089451) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa October 21, 2006, 09:25:04 AM Really great card! ;D

Wow, RupT, you've been busy these past few weeks! I really love your sketches! The Darth R2D2 is totally cute! Who did the 2nd and 3rd Balrogs you posted? Those are really cool. 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT December 27, 2006, 09:39:42 PM The Darth R2D2 is totally cute! This is from a non-artist friend and fellow collector who wishes to remain unnamed for some strange reason - however if you take a peek at the NSU sketch card comp and compare signatures - you might be able to work out who it is!! Very cute it is though :) Who did the 2nd and 3rd Balrogs you posted? Those are really cool. 8) Ahhhh - they would be done by the very talented Patrick Hamill - a genius no doubt!! 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily December 28, 2006, 12:01:17 AM Who did the 2nd and 3rd Balrogs you posted? I've acquired these over the past 1-2 months or so.... which is why i like post them in batches :) Ingrid has some super crazy talent.... i was extremely lucky to find her post offering that piece!! on super realism, its sits up there in my collection with Kelly's Maul.... I really like DAvids piece as well.... as opposed to using the usual Reds and Blacks in a Darth Maul sketch, he used different shades of red more than other colours.... : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa February 09, 2007, 06:24:44 PM Yes, Ingrid is AMAZING! Anyone interested in color sketches should contact her while her prices are still fairly low. 8)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT February 10, 2007, 02:40:28 AM and one more that arrived today....

Warren never fails to deliver!!
Jackie - urm WOW!! You're Cap'n Jack collection goes from strength to strength!!! Love dave's card!!! Beauties, all of them. :) There weren't any queues when they were done. The sketch cards, mine and RupT's, were done around 4:30pm on Sunday (the last day) and only because Allison convinced Adam to do them. The show was winding down and people were beginning to pack up. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT July 23, 2007, 04:41:52 AM Thanks Raj - my explanation would have been a lot longer :)

Warren is indeed "da bomb", as Jackie would say ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : itsme July 30, 2007, 08:31:58 PM oops, and no disappointment.. being from sydney i am sure you could find a few oxford street boys that would like your themes..

The sketch cards, mine and RupT's, were done around 4:30pm on Sunday (the last day) and only because Allison convinced Adam to do them. The show was winding down and people were beginning to pack up. So now all you are missing is Captain Will!!!! ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum July 31, 2007, 02:59:03 AM I received an early birthday surprise today, from someone here! Soni's work is amazing (I just wish I had a better scanner)!
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/SoniSiriusSketch1.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna July 31, 2007, 04:57:34 AM Now that is a beauty Cindy ... what a fabulous birthday surprise for you!! :-* ;D ;D ;D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily July 31, 2007, 08:23:55 AM Cindy, the sketch almost matches the Sirius in your avatar!!! :o
Soni's sketch are beautiful!! I have 3 now and each one is breathtaking!!! But she captured this Sirius perfectly!!!!! What a special, meaningful surprise!!!! :-* ;D 8) ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum July 31, 2007, 05:16:07 PM Thanks! I was truly stunned to receive it. I stared at the envelope and customs form, trying to figure out what card I'd bought from a seller in Portugal. ;D It's funny, because Jules told me about Soni's three Sirius sketches on eBay and I checked out Soni's post about them on Scoundrel. I fell in love with "The Godfather," but she wrote in the post that it wasn't available. I had no clue it was winging its way to me!
I'd thought about editing my avatar to add that image, but decided against it because it's a pain in the caboose to do so. ::) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna July 31, 2007, 08:35:24 PM Weird how it works isn't it!? LOL
I thought of you each time I saw those Sirius auctions Cindy, but I reckon the one you've just received is the best of the bunch! Go and get it re-sized so you can show it off as your avatar girl!! ;) ;D ;D ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa August 01, 2007, 08:19:38 AM oooh, more lovely cards! Those are teriffic you two!
I saw Katie Cook and Allison Sohn at Comic Con. Katie drew my kids a couple of crayon drawings and I bought a sketchbook from her. She drew Starbuck on it for me, and guess what? The Hellboy with cats she drew me is one of the featured sketchbook drawings! Cool. 8) I got Allison to draw me a Eowyn at the show and it looks SO GOOD. Very much like the Eowyn I was hoping to pull from one of the LOTR sets, but in pencil. I'll post scans tomorow. ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT August 08, 2007, 03:34:16 AM Wow, what a great new selection of cards that everyone has here!! thanks for posting htem!!
Ferdinand - Warren's sketches as always present us with explosive genius!! The man is a true sketch card god!! kbmum - you are truly lucky - that Soni chick has got some serious talent about her!! Happy birthday :) anyone else got anything new to share? : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : ocdlotr August 08, 2007, 07:11:37 AM Here's a Soni sketch cards I HAD TO HAVE!!!...won it on Ebay and had to manuever my way past some great UK collectors that have been swooping down on her work... ;)
It really is a magnificient landscape on it's own...but this scene from the Fellowship is so pure and innocent, and conveys such a wonderous sense of Hobbiton and Bilbo's party and just is so magical... ...and Soni did all that in 8.75 square inches of cardboard... (http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i284/OCDLOTR/A6SoniGandalfBilboParty.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT August 08, 2007, 02:20:46 PM Again - Soni outdoes herself..... i'm gonna have to get me some of that action very soon!!!

(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b25/motocrossmom/EcklundDepp.jpg) OK....I think I'm done....for now.... :P : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT September 04, 2007, 05:48:07 PM Sweet art Jackie - loving it all!!!

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum October 10, 2007, 07:14:56 PM Wow! That is really incredible. :D Is there a way to frame them together without any separation between the cards?
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : rns91294 November 04, 2007, 08:17:02 AM I just picked up this card from Kevin Graham at the Philly Non-Sport show. I love it ;D! It's simply amazing in person. There are even some sparkles on it :)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/rns91294/DSC02035.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : HPfamily November 05, 2007, 11:44:25 PM Thats awesome Sara!! Kevin's cell sketches are pretty cool, huh? 8)
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : rns91294 November 06, 2007, 03:57:24 AM Thanks!
I never even saw a cell sketch until I saw these in person. I love them. They give the image an almost 3D effect. The picture does not justice to the actual card. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT January 12, 2008, 10:40:54 PM Some new stuff from me..... been a while ;)

I picked up a few Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sketches. I really, really like Dalla Vecchia's work. :) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/indyskulldallavecchia2.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/indyskulldallavecchia1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/indyjonesskullheadsketch.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Raj June 02, 2008, 11:31:42 PM Generally, yes. It's dependant on the artists. There are a few artists who don't draw ladies that buxom but not many.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 02, 2008, 11:32:01 PM Those are great... i reckon that Vecchia and FAbbri are two VERY underrated artists on ALL the sets they have worked on!! They produce excellent stuff, a lot of repeats but its still great.... especially fro collectors cos we can pick them up at bargains prices!!
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 02, 2008, 11:33:35 PM I don't know anything about comic book heroines, but are all they all so...umm...buxom? :o Yeah like Raj said - a lot of them are.... but i just happened to pick a couple of characters that are perhaps renowned for the buxom-ness ??? : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum June 02, 2008, 11:55:35 PM Most of the favorite sketches in my collection are by Dalla Vecchia and Fabbri. :) I think they do excellent work, and due to the number of sketches they produce for various sets, the prices are quite reasonable.
RupT, I thought the scans you posted here showed off some assets, but then someone directed me to your thread on Scoundrel. Holy smokes! ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna June 03, 2008, 12:59:20 AM I don't know anything about comic book heroines, but are all they all so...umm...buxom? :o I was about to say - pneumatic!! :rofl:I think the phrase 'well stacked' is appropriate here too!! ;) ;D Lovely selection of heroines Rup & I also agree on the Dalla Vecchia and Fabbri cards being very much underrated too - both artists use their pencil craft sparingly, so you mostly have uncluttered sketches which focus on the characters rather than twiddly background stuff. Nice catches on the Indy sketches Cindy! ;) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Bitsy June 03, 2008, 01:41:14 AM All are gorgeous sketches!
I love sketch cards so much! Just had to mention that. :D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 03, 2008, 01:50:12 AM Cindy, i wasn't sure if posting those others here would be okay, so i left them out :) Great artwork though....
Glad you like the cards nienna and bitsy.... i thought i would try something new.. move on from the Frightening Sith lord and the Scary Balrog 8) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Nienna June 03, 2008, 02:38:57 AM Glad you like the cards nienna and bitsy.... i thought i would try something new.. move on from the Frightening Sith lord and the Scary Balrog 8) ... onto the Busty Babes!! ;) ^-^;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : RupT June 03, 2008, 03:23:52 AM Glad you like the cards nienna and bitsy.... i thought i would try something new.. move on from the Frightening Sith lord and the Scary Balrog 8) ... onto the Busty Babes!! ;) ^-^;D Oooooooh yeeeeeeeeeeah  : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa June 26, 2008, 08:07:26 PM I got the most WONDERFUL birthday presents the other day! These are from Graham and Sharon and drawn by Don Pedicini. It's ME with my BFF Starbuck!! How cool is that? I love you guys, you're the best! ;D
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y213/grecopa/stuff/IMG_1046.jpg) Here are my other sketches to date. With the new ones, I'll have just 3 more spots to fill for a full frame. (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y213/grecopa/stuff/IMG_1048.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum June 26, 2008, 08:25:18 PM That's such a great idea! I'll bet you never thought you'd be in a sketch card. :D The other sketches are great, too, especially the Sohn and Pence ones. :) How are the cards framed? It looks like the cases are on tracks.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : De Orc June 27, 2008, 12:26:46 AM Kelly that is a realy great idea and I love your cards ;D and some great looking ones further back as well. I realy must try to pick up some new ones soon :ebay:
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : grecopa June 27, 2008, 01:22:17 AM Thanks! They're in a baseball card display that you can get at Michaels craft store. The holders came with it and they slide in and out so you can rearrange. It's not UV safe though, so this stays in a darker area of the room.
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : darthmactor July 23, 2008, 10:39:43 AM Managed a nice sketch pull recently from a pack I picked up at the shop:

Hand painted and prolly my favourite sketch card of all the ones I have

: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Sharon February 07, 2009, 01:04:26 AM Well it has been a while since I was on here so HELLO ;D
I thought I would start by sharing one of my Christmas presents from my brother Bogleg and my more normally named other brother Martin. (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y95/Sharonh/potter.jpg) These amazing sketch cards are by the immensely talented Sean Pence. They may look like one large picture but are in fact a nine card set. I know this is said many times but a scan does not do these justice - in the reality they are simply wow! So thank you to the 'boys' and especially to Sean ;D : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum February 07, 2009, 01:37:56 AM First, it's nice to see you back! :D Second, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sketch set is amazing! :o Wait until Jackie sees it. :) Did you frame all of the cards together or are they in a 9-pocket page?
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Morningangel-Iola February 07, 2009, 02:18:49 AM Welcome back, those are great cards :D
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Sharon February 10, 2009, 01:26:38 AM First, it's nice to see you back! :D Second, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sketch set is amazing! :o Wait until Jackie sees it. :) Did you frame all of the cards together or are they in a 9-pocket page? To be honest I haven't put them away yet :-[. I have been woefully lax in putting my cards away and have little piles all over the place. Well actually I have huge piles all over the place! My reasoning behind this is that I will now start scanning the cards before they go in a folder........ now to just plug in the scanner ;) Anyway the plan is to put them in a 9 pocket page. I know they look amazing as a single picture but they are nine separate mini masterpieces and I want this to be seen. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 08, 2009, 02:49:57 AM Topps has produced a new SpongeBob SquarePants set. In an interesting turn of events, the sketch cards are a Target exclusive and inserted only into gravity feed boxes. The "hobby" boxes don't have sketches! The cards are 1:151 packs. In addition to sketches, there are sponge cards -- actual, dried sponges that look like SpongeBob -- along with alphabet stickers and create-a-scene stickers.
I've been waiting for years for official SpongeBob sketches. The only artist for the set is Paul Tibbit, co-executive producer and storyboard artist for the show. The sketches are sketches, in the true sense of the word, but most of the cards are pretty cute. :) Since I didn't care to buy 151 packs, hoping to pull a sketch, I bought one on eBay. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/Sketches/SpongeBobSketch.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : allender April 09, 2009, 08:06:05 AM Since I didn't care to buy 151 packs, hoping to pull a sketch, I bought one on eBay. If the distribution was totally random, you'd still have a 37% chance of not having found one after you finished those 151 packs. :-XBut then again, you might have snagged three or four. I bought two packs. No sketch, no sponge. But I did pull a create-a-scene sticker. (From a separate big purchase, I see that packs of Topps's Littlest Pet Shop list the ingredients for the temporary tattoos: Acrylic Multipolymer, Alkyd Polyester Resin, Phenolic, Modified Gloss Varnish, Petroleum Isopariffinic Hydrocarbon, Petrolatum, Cobalt Tallate Drier, Black Iron Oxide, FD & C Blue #1 Brilliant Blue FCF Lake, FD & C yellow #5 Tartrazine Lake, D & C Red #7 Lithol Rubin B CA Lake, FD & C Yellow #6 Sunset Yellow FCF Lake, Titanium Dioxide. I didn't know that.) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 09, 2009, 04:56:33 PM Wow, I didn't realize that odds were that bad! :o I bought a few packs at Target on Monday -- one for me and one each for my kids' Easter baskets. My pack didn't have a sketch or sponge, but it did have a create-a-scene and and an alphabet card. :)
I've never seen ingredients for temporary tattoos. The list is kind of scary. : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Roz April 10, 2009, 06:19:32 PM No way Cindy, that's AWESOME, really it is! Fantastic stuff... I'd love to find out more - ... (heads ebaywards)
*EDIT* Cindy - any idea where I can get more info - stuffs on eBay is scant to say the least! : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 11, 2009, 03:30:32 AM Hmm...the sketches were only in the Target exclusive boxes and Tom is selling some sketches. Maybe he has some of those boxes? It's worth a shot to ask. I was interested in purchasing a sealed box from Target, but couldn't find anyone to help me. ::)
I received a sponge card in the mail today. :) I know this is a sketch thread, but since it's the only place where these cards are mentioned, I'll just put it here. :) The sponges are 1/16th of an inch thick and have no writing on the back. My kids desperately want me to put it in water, but I said no. ;D (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/spongebobsponge1.jpg) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Fizzingwizbee63 April 11, 2009, 05:29:53 AM Well it has been a while since I was on here so HELLO ;D I thought I would start by sharing one of my Christmas presents from my brother Bogleg and my more normally named other brother Martin. I wish Artbox would get sketch cards into the HP sets, and sooooooon :o= Thanks for posting the images :) : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 11, 2009, 05:39:11 AM Bogleg contacted the artist and commissioned the sketches. There are many great artists who will do the same thing. Occasionally, good HP sketches appear on eBay. If you look through scans of sketches from various sets (like LOTR, Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, Shrek the Third, and many more) and find some artists you like, you can e-mail them to find out if they're currently doing commissions and what they charge.
By the way, there are HP sketches in this thread and also here: http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,5038.0.html : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Fizzingwizbee63 April 11, 2009, 06:09:13 AM How do you find the contact information for the artist??
: Re: Your fav Sketch cards : kbmum April 11, 2009, 08:54:18 AM A good place to start is the Scoundrel site. If you register there, you can get e-mail addresses and websites. You can also use Google to find artist websites.
http://scoundrelpublishing.com/spart/index.php : Re: Your fav Sketch cards : Bogleg April 11, 2009, 04:43:27 PM Also, bear in mind that I told the artist I wasn't in a hurry. In the case of Sean Pence, I commissioned in February and got them in November. As I give them as prezzies, there will always be a birthday or Christmas coming up.
