: Australian seller - no paypal - ideas?
: tialessa May 29, 2006, 08:29:51 AM
I'm in the US & found an Australian seller with a card I want BUT they don't accept paypal and the USPS doesn't issue International Money Orders in Australian dollars.  The seller obviously prefers a money order in their own currency.  Does anyone have any ideas for options?

Last time I tried getting an international money order OR international currency at a bank it took flipping forever and the cost was a bit insane - granted that WAS several years back.

You could perhaps ask your bank if they can do a telegraphic transfer into the seller's bank account.  We quite often send money overseas at my work.  We have to give the bank the other person's bank account, address, phone number and I think their bank's branch and then our bank sorts it all out. It's like an instant transfer too in that it can't bounce.

I know it might be different here in NZ, but I would think there would be a US version of this.

Sending PM...

Is a bank transfer like that safe?  In the US we've had a massive amount of identity theft and I can't see giving bank information out safely...
