Hi All, ;) :D ;D,

Just wanted to know if this is still the best way to store base sets and other cards ,or if other people have any other methods of storage to share with me.

I keep one set of base cards in the nine pocket sheets in a binder.  I also keep my autos and most of the props/costumes this way as well.  The really thick cards are in 4 pocket sleeves which are a bit big but the only other option if you want them in the binder.  The only one I am totally stuck on where to keep is my wand card - this protrudes above the surface of the card and really can't be kept in a binder.

I know some Shackers keep their spare base sets in 9 pocket sleeves as they say it is cheaper to post them this way if they sell them.  Personally I think this is way too expensive.  Currently I am putting my spare base sets in the little clip top plastic boxes but again this is a pricey and space consuming way of doing it.  I have been trying to get some storage boxes from a company in America that Anna kindly suggested but their postage is prohibitively expensive so I am still on the search for the perfect solution  ;D

Morning all,also we was wandering we have the 4 pocket sleeves for the larger Harry Potter Wizards Of The Coast Cards but over here in uk im finding it very hard to find binders for these ,does anyone know where I might be able to buy one as we are wanting to put these cards in sleeves but haven't as dont have binder yet. The only other idea had was to hole punch more holes in to it but if I can get away with doing that it will be better.

I am pretty sure there was no binder for this set Paul.  But what type of pages are you using?  They should be special card pages that don't eat away at the cards with nasty chemicals.  The special sort usually have lots of holes down the spine so that they fit in most binders.  The ones to fit the Wizard cards actually have 6 pockets if you can get hold of them.

I'm using the Ultra-Pro 9 and 6 pocket sleeves just i havent been able to find a normal binder to hold these pages as I was told in a stationary shop called Rymans in uk that the kind of binder I was after is an american style, as the only ones I can buy are the lever arch binders for 2 holes and not 4 as the sleeves are.

I store all the cards I have in 9 Pocket Pages, I got 3 ring binders from a local department store BIG W. but if you have something like a Target or K-Mart, over there, they would sell them.  Maybe look on ebay ??

Topps didn't make a binder.
I keep my Batman Begins in one of these.

It zips shut and keeps the dust out. Looks pretty good too in real life. Better than the picture shows. Price is right, too.

Paul I use lever arch files for my sheets when I am desperate (I use the same Ultra Pro as you).  If you look down the spine there is an assortment of holes and the middleish ones do fit the lever arch or the three hole ones like deza992450 suggested.  If you have a Stationary Box near you they are a bit cheaper than Woolworths  ;D

As I work for Woolworths, I have to say Stationary Box might be cheaper but Woolworths are better quality.  ;)  ;D

Sorry I love Woollies and whole heartidly recommend them when you want a greater choice ;D.  As you work for Woolworths Martyn can I ask if you know what happend to the Big W stores - they all seem to be shutting down.

Basically there wasn't a "Big" demand for them. Where not making enough profit etc

It's the same with MVC (If you can remember them) that was a Woolies company they sold it before Xmas as it wasn't making enough profit. After Xmas it closed down completly and now it's a distant memory.

As with anything if it isn't making money it has to go.

But the one thing I don't understand is Woolies Group isn't just the high street shop it's Woolies www.woolworths.co.uk (http://www.woolworths.co.uk)

I saw those at Wal-Mart, but was afraid to buy one because I thought the corners of the pages would get crushed by the zipper.  So I take it that everything fits fine inside?

Perfectly fine. And believe me (I'm a "recovering" stamp collector) condition is the top of my priority list.

Does anyone know where we might be able to purchase binders that zip up so can keep our sets dust free or items similar. I saw the post on the batman child binder but was late but just need general type to house all cards?
If anyone know's of any links to shops that do these will be great.

You have to be careful of binders with zippers.  The Batman one is large enough to accomodate 9-pocket pages without damaging the cards, but that may not be true of other binders.

cheers for that so normal lever arch binder files are ok to use is there anything else we could use to protect them fully?

I think 9-pocket sleeves are good for base sets and such, but I like to keep my auto and sketch cards in their soft sleeve with top loader.  I still put them in a binder, mind you - only I use a 4-pocket sleeve to put them in (they're made for a larger sized card but the page overall is exactly the same size).  This way, there is added protection with the top loader and yet you can still flip through the set in book form.  If you ever want a closer look at the card, just slide it on out - it's still of course protected by the top loader.  This is just a personal preference, but one that has worked well for me.  There's just something about placing an expensive autograph card in a 9-pocket sleeve without added protection that scares me (not to mention the sleeves are kind of tight to risk it).  Here is what it ends up looking like:

Nice pic of your autocards Greg and a fantastic idea i think I will do the same where did you get the 3 ring binders from as havent been able to find any.
Do you keep your costume cards in these pockets too mate?

First off, thanks for the compliment.

I'm in the USA so I don't know if the binders are easy to find in other countries.  Around here, any sports card shop has great binders.  The binder itself has a wider cover to accomodate for the width of the card page.  Also, the binder has a huge "D" ring so as not to hurt any of the cards near the left side of the page.  Finding a great binder with a "D" ring is important when you go this large.  I would recommend against getting a binder at a Target or Wal-Mart since their binders are not wide enough, and your pages will hang out by quite a bit.

As for my costume cards, only the thinner ones will work in the sleeves.  If you have super thick cards, then it can totally tweak the page and your card could slide around.  For the costume cards that I can put in a [slightly thicker] top loader, they work great.  But keep in mind that the costume cards would really have to be about the same thickness on each page for it to work properly.  If you had too many pages on top of each other with varying thicknesses on each page, I think it could create some damage or stressing to some of the cards, not to mention it would look ugly anyway.  For the really thick costume cards, I keep those in 10-card hard holders that I get from my local sports card shop.

If you are outside the US, I would imagine that you could find decent supplies through an online sports card supply house (as long as they will ship to you of course).  I know I bought my 100-card set holders online from www.baseball-cards.com for a really cheap price (by the case).  Maybe it would be more cost effective if a bunch of people went in on an order together?

Thanks for all the advice we are fairly new to all this still and know what you mean about the different thicknesses of the costume cards as the Superman Returns ones are really thick and out hp poau are very thin.Also think I will do same as you as we are getting the last 4 autocards to make our Batman Begins Master Set so we dont want them to get damamged.
