I thought this might be a good poll if it hasn't been asked before especially for me as a new member and collector, well i'm just curious on members attitudes.

Cheers

To me there is no best company as each produces cards I care about and love to have in my collection...  I'm annoyed with Topps about the recent autographs with the stickers on them, but have yet to write my letter of displeasure about it...

I like Rittenhouse :) Course, I work for RA, so I guess I shouldn't vote *lol*

Having said that, the majority of my personal collection comes from Topps and Inkworks so they're okay too. And Artbox and UD do good work. Each company really, like Tia said, produces high quality cards that I cherish in my collection.

I haven't had to deal much with Inkworks, but I can honestly say the Rittenhouse's customer service is outstanding.  Kay at Artbox is wonderful, too. :)  Not that I'm looking for brownie points or anything... ;)

I like Kay! She was at the recent Philly Non-Sports show with Mike Simon. She got flowers from an appreciative fan

I get chocolate from mine :) I think mine like me more *lol* Chocolate is better than flowers, right?

Ooooh yes, chocolate is better! :D  It's easier to transport home, too.  Although...chocolate probably wouldn't last long enough to take home! ;)

I agree with tialessa, all the card companies are about the same.  When I choose a set to collect, I pick it because of the subject matter and the insert/chase cards, not the manufacterer.  BTW - You forgot to list Inkworks and Breygent. ;)

I'm so new to the world of card collecting, but I have to say that I agree with Anna.  I choose a set based on the quality of inserts and the movie, or overall subject matter.   :)

Hi All, ;) :D

I,m like a lot of other newbie's here I go for a film or genre of film I love and then look at what the inserts may or may not be and collect from there. Just thought it would be interesting to get member's views on this.

Cheers

Sketch,

do you have a one track mind when it comes to chocolate???

Jules

Well Jules, to put it simply  YES

Just kidding. My one-track mind revolves around my boys, Alexander (7) and Evan (2). They're the sun in my sky and the reason for my days. While I enjoy chocolate and trading cards, my boys are it. I'm also a devoted wife to my loving husband who also works for Rittenhouse, so that's fun :) Least it used to be fun when we worked in the same location (*sniff - I miss our lunches*)

But- back on topic (well, sort of). Trading cards are supposed to be FUN - I've heard collectors say to me "I only collect Company Qs cards" and I say "Oh you like their properties" and they say "No, I'm loyal to them because they fixed a problem and I'll never buy anyone else's cards." That always leave me  ??? Sure, brand loyalty is something every company strives for, but to be so single-minded as to immediately discard other companies, regardless of what they produce just boggles my mind.

On the same token, I know many more collectors that have so blurred the line that they don't see company names anymore and just see everything as "trading cards" - I have loads of stories of wrappers being turned in for the Rittenhouse Rewards program that don't come from Rittenhouse and when asked they usually say "Oh, I thought you did Buffy cards (or whatever!)"

There used to be an annual award issued by Non-Sport Update magazine, called the Gummies, that awarded Best Manufacturer based on readers mail in votes, but they don't do that anymore. There is something to be said for competition in the marketplace, but that type of award let to a lot of bitterness and wasn't doing any company any good. I was sad to see it go -  I really wanted to win for Customer Service just once *lol* but in the end I totally understood why they had to go.
