: Three Stooges - Breygent
: itsme May 14, 2006, 02:59:05 PM
Hi All,

hope you dont mind the post but would like some of the Yakers feedback... PLEASE  :o= :o=

i really started on the Breygent Three Stooges stuff and will be pursuing the new upcoming WIZARD as well that appears to have created a great amount of interest.. although there is a card i dont have yet for the 3 stooges set!!! DOH!!! there were only 9 of these and my concern is the price?? $1000USD for the Moe Howard CS2 card, 1 of only 9 cut signatures... .... my questions or queries are as follows (and i realise its personal responses, but...):
1. Is it too much for this card as it tends to capture mainly an American audience?
2. Are cut signatures not as valued by the collectors community in comparison to autograph onto the cardboard directly?
3. Will these prices potentially go up due to Breygents fairly new on the scene (with many years experience) and will only get bigger and better???  ??? ???

The card can be viewed here  (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1738318-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D6279649357%26rd%3D1%26sspagename%3DSTRK%253AMESE%253AIT%26rd%3D1)

another reason for query is i missed out on the last one of these online and it went or $999.99 from the US!!! and only ever seen these 2 online, so where are the other darn 7  >:() >:() >:()? maybe should be more boxes??

Thanks again

Julie

You have a one track mind when it comes to cards and jjllrr ::)

1) Probably half the world's NS trading card collectors are in America (mind you,  I think that % is getting smaller all the time :P), so I don't think that it's a limit TBH

2) I don't think they are as nice, for more input on this take the relatively comparable 'sticker autos' topps are adopting, everyone prefers the card to be signed, but sometimes it's inevitable, and assuming the company is reputable on this score (i.e. not Topps ) then we are ok

3) I wouldn't go too far on this one. More interest might be generated if there was a John Wayne 2 set, rather than the gathering popularity of the company itself.

Hi Roz,

No not a onetrack mind   0:) 0:) 0:) well dont tell my husband anyway..

Yeah  i am sceptical, thats why i wanted input.. should have bought the one of mbhop?? online recently but forgot.. and it was gone when i got the money together to buy it  >:() >:()

Not sure on why John Wayne series 2 would push price up though, do you mean a series 2 in Three Stooges? and is there any rumours of this?? i loved the one just released, got some great sketches (and not from jjllrr, was too expensive til he had a few auctions).... some people were dumping the colors a while back and got some decent buys... also loved the SHEMP cards and die cuts.. so colorful, did you get any Roz?

Yeah, am partial to jjllrr though, he has given me a few extras - free postage and some things when i have negotiated with him offline.. i liked it as i was relatively, and still am, new at that stage... still a small player, although wanting to buy a few cases of Xmen? what you reckon guys (sorry differnet thread)...

Whats wrong with Topps Roz? have not touched yet as scared of those odds???  :o= :o= :o=

thanks again, alls input appreciated...

Jules  :ebay:

A current autograph would be nice. But in the case of the deceased, you have to get what's available. I'm sure if a collector buys a cut signature it's on the up-and-up. If it's advertised as such then buyer knows what he is getting. Remember that Pope cut signature? It went for $$$$$$$$.

Now, I'm not Catholic and therefore shouldn't be too highly offended, but does anyone else find a comparison between Moe Howard and the Holy See a bit weird?

You may be right Roz, the Pope had more money.

Hi Julie, I also am collecting this set and I'm still missing the 3 rarest cards, the two cut-signature cards and a Stationery prop card. :-\

As to your questions:

1) Since the auto card is pretty rare (only 9 in existance), I think the price the seller is asking for is fair.  I would like to get it, but I'm passing on it because I just can't afford it. :P  I'm American, so my judgemnet may be skewed.

2) I prefer a signed card as opposed to a cut-signature card, but since the actor can no longer sign the cards himself, I think it's a nice opportunity to acquire his autograph this way.

3) It's hard to say if the prices will go up or not. :-\  When I collect card sets, I collect them because I like the cards.  And since I don't have any plans on ever selling them, I never really thought about if they'd appreciate or not. :-\.

I purchased a case of The Three Stooges wooden boxes and this morning I pulled one of the cards I was so desperately wanting for my set. 8)  ;D

Thanks. ;D

It's actually aged glue that seeped through the paper, I'm assuming the swatch is from an envelope.  I've seen others that only have a blank white paper swatch so I'm real pleased with this card. ;D  Now I just need to get rid of the dozen wooden boxes, anyone interested? ::)
