: Photoshop Elements question
: kbmum May 06, 2006, 01:45:52 AM
Is there any way to use Photoshop Elements to turn a photo into a line drawing, like in a coloring book?  We're having a party for my grandmother's 100th birthday and I wanted to make a coloring book with pictures of family members for the kids who will be attending (there will be 5 kids between the ages of 3 and 8, and I thought it might keep them busy for a while).  I've tried removing the color and used a variety of filters, but nothing looks right.

I've never done that before, but I fiddled around with some stuff just now and came up with this:

Bring up the ENHANCE menu
go to ADJUST COLOR
REMOVE COLOR

Also in the ENHANCE menu
Go to CONTRAST and bump the contrast up a bit

Go to the FILTER menu
go to SKETCH
you can try PHOTOCOPY or STAMP

If you do PHOTCOPY you will want to go low on the detail and high on the darkness when prompted.

I really don't know if that's the correct way to do it.  It won't give you clear lines, but it's something.  I would really like to know myself if anyone knows the correct way.

Thanks, Kelly!  It isn't perfect, but it's better than what I did on my own.  I used to use Microsoft Photo Editor, which is a pretty simple program.  I was able to edit pictures into coloring pages, but I don't have that software on my new laptop. :-\

Where would we be without Google? :)  There is a way to do this!

It wasn't perfect, but it worked okay.
