Well my names The Jackal (Real name is Geoff if you really wanted to know), I live in Australia, and i'm a fairly normal guy  :P. Well i'm in grade 12 this year (finish in 3 weeks and 1 day as i am writing this) and I cannot wait until i get outta my town and move out  ;D. I love chatting to people (you would know Link, i talk to you  :P) and thats about it.

A bit more bio in is in order, I suppose.  I've been grooving on LOTR since 1976.  I work as a geologist/technocrat for Illinois EPA.  I collect Weta Polystone LOTR sculptures and LOTR Autos.  I'm also a professional photographer and college teacher on the side.  I'm 40 going on 21 and I have two Welsh Corgi's named Frodo and Pippin.    

Hooray - I'm now 24 and skating ;) at first I was slow to learn and got downhearted, now I have had a lesson I am getting better all the time and LOVE IT!

Same as normal Corgis.  Two types Pembroke and Cardigan.  Our dogs are Pembroke, Cardigans have longer tails (like "Blue Dog" in paintings by Louisiana USA Artist).

My name is Jo and I originally started posting on the Topps board when I began collecting LOTR autograph cards (started when I was surfing ebay, saw a TT Legolas auto card, thought 'ooh, that looks cool, I'll pick that up' as my sole LOTR movie memorabilia item. Did not think it would be such an addictive hobby as many will attest!). Roz directed me to this site as she wanted to introduce me to another fellow cyber yak  ;D

I'm a university student in Australia and have been a huge fan of LOTR since I read the books as a 9 year old kid. Harry Potter I picked up a bit later around the release of Goblet of Fire (thought, geez, whats the hype about???) and have been extremely obsessed with since. Anyone want to hear me recite PoA off by heart?  ;D

I met Mark via eBay when I purchased The Fellowship Top Trumps set from him in January 2003.  We have developed a fantastic friendship since then to include his beautiful girlfriend Roz.  It is amazing how interest in The Lord of the Rings brings people from all over the world together.   :)

I am a huge collector of LOTR's items but concentrate on Decipher's LOTR's CCG - I have at least one of every card printed so far and also collect Topps LOTR's cards, Autographs, and Costume Cards.  I am missing just a Legolas, Gimli, Merry, and Elrond Autograph card.  I have all the Costume Cards except Frodo's Elven Nightshirt.  

I too collect LOTR's Weta polystone figures and have  Boromir, Aragorn, and Gandalf the Grey.  I am awaiting receipt of the new King Aragorn figure sometime next month.  

My real life mainly has been flying fighter aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps for the past 27 years.  I am on medical leave now and enjoying life one day at a time.

I met Mark and Roz briefly through eBay, when I bought a set of Topps Trumps cards from them and although I haven't traded with them recently, I do regularly check to see what other 'goodies' they have up for grabs!  ;)
I'm fascinated by their current auction for the HP Pear Tree Leaves card and from how things were looking earlier on this evening, it should top the £1,000 amount easily.  ;D

I've seen several of you on my travels through the eBay listings and have often wondered 'who' you all are behind your trading names if I haven't been fortunate to win one of your auctions to find that out! LOL

LOL great to see you here Jules; we had nearly 250 packs of those top trumps and we have posted them to all corners of the globe, mostly for a very cheap buy it now price - they go for 6 to 7 times that price now  :-\ but we have obviously spread LOTR happiness (some might call it madness) around so that's all good!

I hope you have bundled up FOTR, TT and ROTK top trumps up for a gigantic game... it can last for days  ;D

Well all that's left now is to grab a cup of tea and see if anyone else nibbles at the peartree; it's very much like fishing this... although I've never tried fishing so what on earth would I know  ::)

WOW that was a lot of packs you had and I count myself very lucky in that I managed to get hold of one of them before the prices shot through the roof.  :P

I sat and watched the closing stages of your PLT auction tonight, nail-biting stuff considering how much dosh was at stake.
CONGRATS on getting such a good price for it though I honestly thought it would top the £1,000 ... oh well I wasn't far off!  8)

I think that the prices only went up when I stopped selling so cheaply - for the last 30 packs or so. I still have 5 lying around somewhere but I am a big fan of the movie so I like to have a few bits and pieces here and there.

Hi all.  Just wondered in here.... but i love yaks.  yeeeeak!   yay for the yadkinville yaks!   :)

I have been posting for a few weeks, just haven't taken the time to put my info.
I was happy to find the board as I was looking for more info on the HP POA.  I mostly collect sports cards (Hockey, Baseball, (American) Football, Soccer/(football) but have always liked LOTR and HP movies.

I am trying to work my way through some of the books now.  I am trying to finish completing my costume sets from FOTR and TTT and eagerly looking forward to ROTK costume cards.

I didn't know about the HP cards until my local hobby shop guy told me about them and he thought they would be the next big thing.

He was right I guess.  He only had 10 cases and they were gone before I could get any more than one box.  I was able to get another 15 boxes on ebay and a couple from a online shop.  I think the cards are great and feel lucky to hear new info from such knowledgable collectors!!!!

Oh I live in sunny California (93 degrees F right now) and am 28 yrs old, but 15 at heart!  You guys are great big thanks to the people who seem to maitain the site (Roz & Mark I think and hope I am not forgetting anyone)

I live in the State of New Hampshire, United States of America.  We have people from all over the world here on The Forum!   :)  Where are you from mcgonagall and dalamara?

Dalamara - there is the only United States showing of The Lord of The Rings Exhibition coming up next month in Boston, Massachusetts.  It runs from August 1st through mid October.  This is the one that has been making its rounds around the world.  It is being held at the Museum of Science and I already have my tickets as it is within easy reach from where I live.   :)  You are correct when you state that there are no LOTR's Conventions around here though!!   :(

Yes that is right - our seasons are reversed.  I live in the mountains and during our last Winter in January of this year I recorded a temperature of -32 F!  That is actual air temp with no wind blowing.  It was so cold that morning I could hear the sap in the trees exploding - it actually sounded like gun shots going off!

Sap exploding??? I didn't even know that was possible! :o

okay okay not exact but fun anyway my kids loved them

Oh yea FTY, it is possible.  You should see some of the cracks in the trees after this happens!  These are life threatening temps and you would not last very long if you were not dressed properly.

Good to see you here Ben, I hope all is going well for you.   :)  Hot & Humid is ok for a short period especially after a long Winter.  We had that going on for a few days and then all of a sudden it felt like Fall with cool temps in the 60's and overcast.  This has been one strange Summer weather pattern we have been in.

Eeek! I live 15 minutes walk from 3 of Sydney's finest beaches and practically live in my shorts and t-shirts for most of the year! Will have to buy whole new wardrobe if I come over to visit you... darn ;)

I love LOTR and have had some incredible experiences because of the movies. I'm also a big HP fan--loved the books, disappointed in the first two movies but thought PoA was great!
I collected the topps autograph and costume cards for awhile...then I realized I just did not have enough money to keep them and I'd rather spend what I did have on traveling.
I've collected some other LOTR things but the pride of my collection is almost all the "for your consideration" ads from the three movies.

Hey Everybody!!!, well, my username is Elle_Driver and, i am either spending all day watching movies(i love tarantino movies!!! 8)), collecting cards(usually only if they contain authentic worn stuff ;)), or sitting at one of the many starbucks'es that are around (no foam vanilla latte :)), or i am on Ebay, spending my money on stuff like HP POA cards!!! ;D

I would say that Pulp Fiction would have to be his best movie next to Kill Bill vol.1, its got great acting with Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Samuel l Jackson, Bruce willis, it has tons of movie quotes in it from everywhere, and a great dance scene between Uma and John travolta

After exclusively reading for about a month or two, I think it's about time I posted! My real name is Mike, and I'm a senior at the Pennsylvania State University studying Japanese with minors in Linguistics and International Studies.

Last year, I spent the entire year abroad studying at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. To make a long story short, my last two months consisted of going to all the Prisoner of Azkaban Events and seeing the movie as many times as possible.  Needless to say, I became addicted including the Artbox set.

It's gonna be great to finally start talking to everyone instead of just reading  ;)

Very much so - we will all enjoy reading your perspective on it too... probably... unless we disagree with it.

I would loooove to learn Japanese, but not as much as Mark who has bought some CDs to do so, if we need any tips can we mail you?

It's true, I have to say I'm a bit of a Japanophile... I am in love with all the Studio Ghibli films, like Spirited Away etc I love a lot of J-Pop music and I think they make the best computer games there  ;D I'm fascinated by the culture and I'm dying to start learning the language so I can start watching and listening to Japanese TV and radio (and understanding it!).

Anyway, welcome to all you lovely people... I'm afraid I've been a bit lax in this thread  :-\ I shall have to make amends....

My weakness for Japanese culture stems from the food - I adore sushi in particular :)

He's been talking to me today about the new HP update set and i fancy going Halves with him on and case, he has been reasuring me most of the day i will make money on it, and he's told me to come on here and ask you guys, what do you think, is it worth getting involved with it???

I wouldn't trust Ben further than I can throw him. You can't make any money on him ;)

Nah just kidding, in theory yes from an investment point of view I suppose you should be able to make money on it - if you had bought and sold 5 boxes (half a case) from the first set at the right time you could have spent £150 and sold your half case for £500.

But trading cards are not a sure fire way to make money - you would have only made the above cash if you had left the boxes sealed, and at the end of the day and if all went wrong you've got to like the pieces of card enough to want to spent £150 on them and have only got the cards out of it!

AND it's also tough because this set is more expensive to start with!

My name is Tracey & I live in the gorgeous country of Australia...in Melbourne to be precise. I am a small-time collector of HP and LOTR costume and auto cards, my fetish started off with LOTR costume cards but I am now stuck on HP.

I have only ordered 3 boxes of HP PoA Update (it may be four, I am trying to subdue myself but it isn't working) but I am hoping to pull something really nice like a harry, ron, or hermione auto.....i wish  ;D

Anyway, fantastic forum and I love catching up on all the news!!

Oh I dont think anyone could possibly understand how much I would LOVE to do that  ;D I have even seen the location guide book and it would be really good to make an adventure of it and explore all the sites. Unfortunately my crappy job does not pay enough  >:(  for such an adventure....so I will have to keep dreaming (and saving!!)

Woo yes they are beautiful, what we need is a LOTR set with sketches by Alan Lee and John Howe (no folks, I can't say that often enough ;))

I actually did that last November/December. I went on the two week Red Carpet tour. It was expensive (as was airfare since I was in Minnesota at that time) but well worth it. It was obviously amazing to see so many of the sites. Edoras was my favorite--it was simply breathtaking! I also fell in love with Fernside--where we see the Fellowship leaving Lothlorien and where the Smeagol/Deagol scene takes place.
The best part was perhaps the friends I made. I made some VERY good friends whom I am still in close touch with and will be for years to come.
If people want to see pictures I can provide a link, I'm also happy to answer any questions about the sites and such.

I collect sketch cards from everything - starting with the Marvel sets from the 90's (Creator's Collection, Spidey 97 and Silver Age) and going through to todays' set (Rittenhouse's stuff, SW: Heritage) and some oddball stuff - Diamond solicited a reprint of Tolkien LOTR cards and included a sketch with the sets.

I found out about lotr cards becuase of roz, now she owes me alot of money!

I love lotr since i was forced to read the books in school ( and thanked him for that a while ago) I have an old old edition of the books, though they dont look to good now :P

Anyway I collect all sorts of LOTR stuff, Cards ( though i have the complete set now from topps) a few posters, Puzzles, Weta ( only have a few pieces but hope that grows! Busts of wraith, WK, WK statue, Sauron statue, Helm, Gandalf the grey) I also am currently trying to meet a bunch of actors, I have met one! several times now, Sean Astin, also met Howard shore and SOon to meet sala baker and Alan Lee. And since there is so much time inbetween I am currently making a scrapbook of my travels :) ( I will try to post some pics when i get some more of it done!!)

I live in IL, near chicago, I work at Siemens medical solutions during the day, Go to ITT tech at night, and open packs of cards later at night :P

I am good with alot of things, just to many to list! computers are a first hobby.

My name is Ian, and from what I read so far, I am definately in the minority here as I don't collect either HP or LOTR cards  :o (yes you did read that correctly) and am also not really interested in autos, costume or sketch cards!!!

I do, however, collect Bubblegum cards from the 50's - 70's (mainly A & BC Gum).

HI abraxas and welcome to the forum :) I see you are from Oz as well - nice to see to see us Aussies slowly inflitrating this forum - mwahahaha!

Well, your best bet is ozcardsinc (www.ozcardsinc.com) in Melbourne, they are selling boxes for $100 each, which is cheaper than buying from overseas and adding shipping and all. I'd advise getting in quick though, I am not sure they have anything left now, but its worth a go. Otherwise - its off to ebay for you :)

Also, be careful that you distinguish between the retail boxes (cheaper, but only have 2 retail exclusive costumes and foils) and hobby ones (pricier, have props, autos, costumes). Any more questions, post and Someone will be more than happy to help you out. Especially me - I have been purported to have an opinion on everything ;) (Thanks Roz :D)

Ok, so I cant remember if I acctually introduced my self, i signed up not long ago when a friend (Ben aka. Samwise16) introduced me to the site. Since then, I have gone halfs on a case of the HP update set with him and have found a new interest in traiding cards. I generally just look around the forums as there are many interesting topics and have a glance at the comics every now and again. Great site Mark and Roz.

We get taxed 17.5% on anything classed as a luxury item; so for instance you are not taxed on basic essentials like bread or biscuits but you are taxed on cake, booze, petrol (gas), cards, computer equipment. In fact there really are very few things that we are not taxed on.

Fortunately in our shops here prices always include tax so we don't have to calculate it - Mark said when he was in Florida when he was little he picked up things and they hadn't included tax in the price shown which was hard for a little kid counting up his change to buy things!

Roz, you forgot to mention that while biscuits are not taxed, slap a bit of chocolate on them and suddenly they are taxable! But it doens't make a big difference - things that are taxable are normally marked up in the shops to include the tax in the price. The only time you sometimes see prices without tax is for computer and office equipment because companies don't pay tax on items bought for the business.

Yes I think I was about 10 when I first went to Disney World. It's great fun for all the family :)

Hi everyone, after some time as a lurker, I finally decided to register!
I live in New York City, collect mainly Lord of the Rings, some Harry Potter Cards(love the Artbox sets!) Buffy and Angel(wrong forum, I know), plus lots of other mish mash. Just wanted to say hi!

Hi Eve and welcome!!   :)  How long have you lived in New York City?  You are probably the closest Forum member geographically to me as I live in New Hampshire.  I used to live in Connecticut until I moved up here in 2002.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Exhibition in Boston this summer!   :)  It was the only location in the United States to host this special event!   :)

I enjoy reading about other people's experiences on this Forum who attend shows and conventions and meet LOTR's stars!  

While I've already done an introductory post, it was brought to my attention that I may have left out a few (key) details.

One, my name is Joanna. And two, I work for a trading card company. Some trading card company that does not product LOTR or HP cards (though, at times I wish I did work elsewhere!)

See, I thought everyone knew that I was sketchqueen because of my obscene fascination with sketch cards but Olly politely reminded me that this was not the case and that it might be, what's the word? Um.. Oh, I don't know - it just seemed like I was hiding, when I'm not.

SOOO - if anyone object to me stopping by from time to time, deal with it :P  I'm not here to check up on anyone. I'm not here to stir the pot. I'm here cause it's a cool site and I collect HP and LOTR cards.

Now that you have introduced us to Warren and his sketch cards I am not so concerned as to what Topps will do or not.  Somehow I cannot see both Alan Lee and John Howe being paid enough by Topps to produce the quantity of sketch cards that would be necessary.

LOTR is fantastic - I am a much bigger fan of the extended editions than the Theatrical editions they seem to get a step closer to the books (I still haven't forgiven PJ for changing things but overall the world Tolkien described is brought to life by these movies if not the exact story he told :))

I've joined this forum a little over a week and I've decided it is time I introduce myself. My name is Stephen and I live in Toronto, Canada. I am 15 years old and I am new to Harry Potter Trading cards. I first read Harry Potterand the PS when I was 6 or 7, I can't remember. The book just came out and my mom wanted to buy it for me. I read alot at an early age but I thought HP sounded stupid so I was not interested. My mom bought it anyways and it turned out to be one of the best books I have read. My first copy of HP is now worn out (it was the very first printing with the man with the brown beard on the back- Flammel?) but I noe have all hardcovers and I collect the special editions. I don't really like the movies as they leave way too much out, but I like the third movie. That was my favorite book and so far the best movie (though they left out Griffindor winning the quidditch world cup- how could they? >:() My favorite movie is the LOTR, I loved the movies since I saw them and everyone in my school knows me as a LOTR freak. I used to play the LOTR TCG but I got  pissed (can I say pissed on these boards? ???) with Decipher and dropped it, though my love for LOTR is strong. I then turned to Rittenhouse Archives for their Stargate SG-1 Costume Cards as Stargate is my all time favorite show (I'm know as a Stargate freak too ;)). Sadly nowhere in Toronto sells HP or SG-1 cards so I buy individual cards on E-bay (don't ask how a 15-year old got an account - I'm responsible so no one notices). I joined these boards because I love all the same things you guys do and I don't know much about the cards. I plan to be an involved member of the boards but I may ask many questions- sorry. I don't have a job as I have school right now, but I get my funds from saving my lunch mony and allowance- yes, 15 and get an allowance- If I save all my money and go with out lunch, I have $70 a week which is not bad. My name on ebay is flobo2020 and I buy mostly Stargate and Hermione Costume Cards. Sorry about the very long intro and hope to be friends!! ;D

Welcome welcome! It's nice to have more Canadians too as we are rather dominated by the UK (me) and US folk at the moment with a strong band of Aussies and I think just one other Canadian (Crystles).

I am gonna get all rude now and tell you to at least get a banana with some of your lunch money so that you don't do yourself some kind of injury by not eating. Do you have breakfast? (if you do then that's ok because I never have breakfast so I guess we are even).

What upset you about the Decipher cards? The sheer quantity? (250-300 cards a set is not uncommon) or did the rules get too easy/too hard for playing them?

From purely an aesthetic point of view many of the decipher cards I have seen have been beautiful!!! Some of the foils are very cool indeed (admittedly some work less well but it's all swings and roundabouts).

P.S. Questions are welcome - I bet you will be asking what many people are wondering ;)

Thanks for the welcome Roz! ;D you guys are really nice! The thing that made me drop Decipher was that the first 10 sets were pretty good but for the final 9, they changed the rules to "liven it up" and now whole cultures are unuseable. Now you have to build a deck around a new culture. They are starting to faze out sets and you now can't use cards from the first block (first three sets) which had really good cards. They have made promos almst imposible to get. Before, you used to get promos in magazines and DVDs but now, you have to go to Gencon to get an exclusive promo, go to France to get another- it's crazy. If you ask me, they are just trying to get more money and I don't like it. I then heard of Rittenhouse and I had a feeling that they were a smaller company than Decipher. I like this because then they would be more likely to listen to the customer and be more down to earth. Also the cards are great! :D. I still like LOTR very much but I can't spend money on something that I can't use. The Stargate cards are fantastic and I like them better than the LOTR TCG. I know what you mean about Decipher's LOTR's CCG!  I never did play but I do collect the cards.  The recent change in Promo card distribution is very upsetting and I know of several people who have left the game and or collecting due to the rules change and Promo card craziness.   There is no way I am going to shell out $80 to $200 for the new Promo cards - there are 10+ new ones out as of today and more seem to pop up almost weekly!   If they keep down this path they will lose me as well as I cannot afford them nor get to the venues where these cards are offered!

I figured I should properly introduce myself to the forum, so here it is.

My name is Anna (I’m not creative enough to think of a cool forum name) and I live in southern California (about 20 miles south of Los Angeles).  I’m 45 years old (much older than most of you) and I work at one of the large aerospace companies here.  I’m not married, but I live with my significant other (thankfully he’s not into trading cards, we’d be broke otherwise!).  We’ve been together now for 17 years and we have no children.

In August of last year I was out on disability from work (neck problems stemming from two car accidents years ago).  The first couple months I was pretty much bedridden, but when I started feeling better, I began surfing the web to amuse myself (I don’t watch TV much).  Through an ebay seller, I discovered this forum (can’t recall which seller).  Well that was the beginning of my financial disaster!!  I got interested in the Harry Potter cards!!  Since I was late for the original set, I decided to focus my efforts on the update set.  I’ve almost completed that set, so my main concentration is now on the original set (which is pretty pricey!).  Thankfully there aren’t as many cards to collect!!

I’d been lurking in your forum since October, and have enjoyed reading everyone’s comments, speculations, case/box breakdowns, etc.  You all are very helpful and supportive to each other and I found that endearing.  I finally registered to be able to view your new price guide (what an amazing guide – kudos to Mark and Roz!).  Since then I’ve been dutifully entering auction prices into your guide.  I work with data a lot at work so I’m interested in trend analysis.  Although at work we don’t have pretty card pictures to go with the data.  ;D

A close personal friend of mine is currently having both her legs reconstructed and is learning to walk again after a particularly nasty accident too. I think we often underestimate the danger that we can be in when we climb into a car.


Yes we are evil - in case you guys don't realise (because you are all obviously signed up) you can't look at the values contained in the price guide until you have signed up to the forum.

It was mostly to ensure that the number of users gave us some reflection as to how many people we had using the price guide too.


And it's much appreciated - you have entered hundreds of values already single handedly - so thank you.

If you want easier ways to "trend analyse" card prices then don't worry - we are getting pretty graphs into the guide too but we wanted to wait a while so that the guides had a few months data to work by.

The pretty graphs will come I promise! I've just got to figure out how to do it....!

My brother did show me that part of the forum and I appreciated Gimli's breakdown of the Stargate cards for me. He just made me realize though that I may never be able to afford the season seven card I really want  :'(

I already used my brother also to talk to sketchqueen and I liked how nice she was and how she answered my question for me, I did appreciate it. My next question for her would be will a Stargate season 8 cards be in the works soon and if so when  ;)

I love collecting certain cards and I also love how nice and helpful everyone is on this forum so I look forward to future posts with all of you  ;D

The Thor card is the one I am after, so far I have been able to obtain every Daniel Jackson card made by Rittenhouse except for this one and the season six promo for the binder exclusive. The first one because of the expense and the second one is my fault because I just can't see spending $40.00 on a binder with a character on it I can't stand  :( but I would love to have the promo card in it.

I feel like Gimli, I love the Stargate cards also and I think Rittenhouse does an excellent job  :)

Two things I just love to read, watch, and collect. I don't have that many Stargate fans to talk to where I am from so it's nice to hear from other people who like it also.

I am not only counting down the days to the new Harry Potter book but also for my favorite books (GOF) movie release in November.

I am on the look out for certain cards, like the 1969 Case Topper card, so I am interested in seeing what you have to offer  :) The 60's card is international release only and since I live in the US I am checking out prices on this card so far the cheapest I found it for was $75.00  :-\

yeah, her aims are high, indeed. She'll be able to get those expensive cards faster than I could with HP. I'm just a student, and well, she has a full-time job.

If it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be collecting cards today. In fact, there are only two card collectors our family. Oh yeah, did I mention that she is only one of five sisters. Luckily, we all don't live together  ;) It's rather hard to explain to the others that our card has the value. We are frequently called the "cardboard collectors" (in a semi-joking way)  :P

Ah thats a real shame, im am a big fan of poultry see, weather it be chickens or turkey, big or small, i dont really get out enough to by films and stuff  :-\

Actually I have a friend who has a chicken farm, well sheep mostly but a good deal of chickens. They spend AGES hunting for eggs in the morning as they always have lots of hiding places for their eggs! Although NOTHING beats a fresh that morning egg :)

Hello, my names Darren and am in the south west of England, i picked up a card for this site at the London expo last weekend and popped over to have a look, mostly collect Buffy/Angel/Charmed/Alias but have a few LOTR auto's and may get into Harry potter cards should i win the lottery  :o=. though i am looking for a Dawn French auto card on  :ebay: at the moment.
 I've only been collecting since Last August but already it's such an addiction, i'm just glad to know there are people who spend more money on cards than me.

This is my 2nd attempt to say hello - I think my first one got lost when the system went peculiar - and two weeks info got lost - that included me - thats the sort of thing that happens to me. I won a Harry Potter Mug and it came in a jiffy bag (broken of course) - yes I got a refund but not the mug!.   :'(  I live in London (well on the outskirts - Greater London).

I am a young  :rofl:Harry Potter fan (49 years old) - well I think its still young (yes I have read book 6) collected all sorts of things including the Trading Cards (not got them all though) - Got some Bertie Botts every flavour beans - would you believe they actually taste like what they are meant to - we had them July 16th of course

I've been lurking around for some time and figured that I should probably introduce myself now that I've started to get a little more involved in posting and trading.

I've been collecting again for about 10 years.  I collected cards as a kid and still have a few of those sets.  I personally collect mostly science fiction related sets but have found myself getting more diverse lately getting into things like Angel, Charmed, Lord of the Rings, etc.

I'm also a dealer that does both shows and online sales, so there are times I have a bit of a different perspective on things than regular collectors.  I try to pass along what information I can on upcoming sets because I feel it is very important to have all the information possible about a release before you commit any of your hard earned money.

Looking forward to getting more involved on the board and hopefully being able to help some folks out with trades and information as well.

Hello!!   ;D My name is Jackie.  I'm 35 and I live in Colorado.  I have been married for 12 years and I have 4 sons, a dog and an iguana and we all love to ride motocross. I was told about the forum from a couple of members in May when I put most of my HP cards up on ebay  :-[ (I needed money).  I love HP!!!  I have never collected anything before until last year when I was browsing ebay.   :ebay: I saw the cards and I've been addicted ever since.  Although I've HAD to sell my sets twice now, third times a charm, right???  I'm a sucker for variants!!! OHH the adrenaline rush when you purchase a cool variant!!!  Although I have cards from all sets (uncompleted sets), right now my main goal is to get all of the cards from the original set.  They're getting harder to find!!! :P  I've also just started collection the CatCF cards, too.
So this is where I get my HP fix since my husband doesn't get the whole HP craze!! ??? He doesn't get going out at midnight to get the new book.   :o (GASP!!) I also share my cards with my kids. They also are HP Fans!!  Actually, my 2 year old calls my 5 year old "Harry" because thats all he hears!!!!  Anyway, I'm here reading almost daily so I figured it was time to introduce myself!!! :)

I've been on for about little while but I know I never formally introduced myself.
My Name is Rich and My Wife's name is Julie. We are both collectors and Harry Potter fans but She is a major fan. We are coming up on our 10th anniversary and on top of the usual bells and whistles She is getting a case of Serenity. She loves Firefly and got to meet the cast in San Diego So I know it will be fun to watch Her open that.
As for Harry Potter She is only 2 cards from having the whole autograph set (granted 1 of them is the triple).  >:()
But I don't want to talk about update. I heard about the forum from a friend of mine and got on and have enjoyed myself. from what I have seen everyone is very cool. I hate forums where everyone starts picking on each other. Teasing is one thing but man it gets brutal. This forum is a breath of fresh air.

My real name is Reita (pronounced Rita) I also go by naybom, on some forums but I can't remember which ones right now ((pain meds)  ::) still have the tooth ache)  :( I am a huge, HP fan although I love LOTR also, (I am afraid to start looking at all the prop, auto's etc. on LOTR,)  :rofl: I am going to stick to  Harry Potter for now! (although I do have the complete base and update sets from all three LOTR movies, just not the other stuff, yet) I live in Southern Illinois in the USA, I have three children, two boys and one girl. My oldest son is in the army, currently in Afghanistan.  He gets to come home on leave in January ;D ! My other two don't understand my obsession with the HP cards and think I am crazy!! Hi. I am a long - time - lurker, new time poster. I started looking at the forum when I found Batman Begins cards on ebay and saw a link.  I am most looking forward to lost cards at the moment. I like the look of Harry Potter but the sets seem huge and quite a lot of the cards seem the same but that is just my opinion. Maybe if I had seen them earlier I would know them better, I must have joined in too late.

Anyone else collecting LOST?

I'm going to collect LOST and a few other people on the Shack are too.  I'm really hoping to complete a master set (it would be my first master).  But if I don't get one of the auto/pieceworks in the case I ordered  I might need to reconsider.  I think those 3 cards in particular will be really high priced. 

I know what you mean about Harry Potter cards.  There are so many that I end up just getting the ones I like the best.  I'm trying to get one costume from every character and only some of the props.  I say SOME props, but it usually ends up as MOST props  ::).  BUT-there are a select few on the Shack that are HP master set gurus and have EVERYTHING!

Welcome to the forum!  I too will be collecting Lost, but will only be getting one box, and then buying on eBay.  I am too in to Harry Potter to go nuts with Lost, especially with the sets coming out similar times!!  But yes, the HP sets are huge.  I will never have a master set.

OOOOOO!!!!  It's never too late for HP!!! You'll probably get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the cards!!!  ;)

Hi everyone!  I've been visiting this marvelous site for so long, yet I've only just registered! Unfortunately, I have wretched luck when it comes to pulling great cards. :-\ I did pull a Mad Eye and Cedric auto at Christmas...but this weekend was my birthday and so far (I have one POAU and SS box left) the best cards I pulled were a Krum final task costume card and Aunt Marge card.  'Course my Mom swears she's cursed b/c she pulled two Grim creature cards (it didn't help that those were the only insert cards in the box). 

Anyway, I am so glad to be here!   :D

Welcome Bitsy!!!  Glad you have joined us ;D  Well, the Cedric auto is still one I want very much and I consider you very lucky to have that card.

My husband and I pulled two Fluffy's as well with our first couple boxes we opened from that set, but I still like the card ;)  Let us know how your last two boxes go :)

When I pulled Cedric, I was shocked and thrilled.  I'm thinking the Good Luck Fates were on Holiday when I pulled it.   ::)  I've opened part of the POAU box and found a Daniel Radcliffe costume card (sweater swatch).  I know it is a rather large count, but I love it just the same.  I love the Aunt Marge costume card.  Thank you for the warm welcome and I'll be sure to let you know what else I pull...I like to stretch out my boxes as long as I can.   ;)

2-month lurker here, hoi~ Thanks to Tomunique who pointed me to the guide in the first place :).

I've been an ebayer since 1996 (shame on me, only 13 and already bidding on stuff with one noisy 14k modem) and I'm getting worse now with all the HP bits to bid on. I'm currently collecting Harry and/or Draco related cards and some props. Thanks to some really nice yakers (http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3974.0) my tiny collection has grown a bit in the past week ^_^ and hopefully it will keep growing!. I'm really looking forward to the COS set (I also know that one will be the death of me after all the sets Artbox plans to release before that one) and am :o= for a Tom Felton auto on any of the upcoming sets. And after that I'll only have to figure out how to live off my trading cards cause I won't have a cent left :-[.

Galea, I complete sympathize!  What started as a little fascination with these sets grew into a little habit, which evolved into an all out hobby. 

Like you, I am hoping for a Tom Felton auto.  Been a bit surprised not to see one by now, actually.   ::)

My collection is pretty small...but it's not for a lack of trying.  :)

My name is Paul,im 29 and live in london. I have only been collecting trading cards seriously for about 6 months.I have all of the Batman Begins cards which i think are excellent,i am missing 4 autocards which are Micheal Caine,Gary Oldman,Liam Neeson,Katey Holmes so if anyone has these for sale then please get intouch please.
My current project with my partner is the new Superman Returns cards which i have ordered 1 sealed box and am buying a case in June these look a really good set and the pull's on the chase,costume and some of the autocards dont seem to bad i think in a case you get around 14 costume and 3-4 autocards, if im wrong please let me know.I reckon the hardest to find will be Kevin Spacey and the actor who plays superman.
I also have Harry potter Prizoner of Azkabhan Trading card set that fits into the mini binder and the american version of the philosiphers stone and the cards are much larger,i dont believe there were chase cards as such just foils of scenes from the base set. I have loads of doubles if anyone wants to trade.

I also am looking forward to find people to keep in touch with who are well established in this hobby as i could do with some helpful advice, and on current street values as i dont want to be ripped off.

hey every one my names MIKE, im 19 from the Uk;D
i've been collecting trading cards 3 years now, starting off with the pokemon TCG cards which i finally packed in as the prices and the constant introduction of new pokemon all the time put me off...
but in the last year some how i got introducerd to the ADDICTIVE world of ebay and descoverd sketch, auto and costume cards. so me and my girlfriend sam couldnt stop our selves collecting HARRY POTTER POA, POA update, GOF, GOF update and my new little side project, the FAMILY GUY trading cards season 1,2. . .
our two collections are growing slowly but really well thanks to this forum. i got to give you guy a massive thanks for the friendship and addvice over the few short weeks. this place is amazing and you lot have kinda influenced me and sam to invest into cases. as the breakdown theds are amazing and i can't wait till me and sam cam jump arund the aroom when we pull a radcliff auto card

Welcome to a very addictive and financialy stretching hobby!!,we are hooked even after buying base,chase sets from shows and on  :ebay:, to when we got our 1st 2 boxes from Tom of Superman Returns.
Its become our main hobby now and it's always a big rush when you start to see your collections grow and flourish like a beautiful english rose :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:.

She's my neighbour :P (well, her county is at least)... and I spent a luvvly day in Essex yesterday by the Cambridgeshire border wandering through a lovely village and nature reserve ;) - not exactly the images you usually think of when you say "Essex" is it? :P

I always think Essex gets some undeserved bad press bless it - my beautiful field site is in Essex and it's an area of outstanding natural beauty... and I didn't see a single white ford sierra with blacked out windows en route any of the 53 times I had to visit ;)

You know I am only joking. So does that make us neighbours but one  :-\

He hee, I suppose it does ;D - bring some biccies over and let's have some tea. *Yawn* it's late, make that hot choc.

Besides Sharon also has roots in a 'lively' part of London too ;D, there's never a dull moment there, trust me ;D
