Well i'm in grade 12 this year (finish in 3 weeks and 1 day as i am writing this) and I cannot wait until i get outta my town and move out ;D. I love chatting to people (you would know Link, i talk to you :P) and thats about it. Pretty boring, but now you all would of learned something about me as you read this ::) : Re:A little about yourself : MakTheYak October 30, 2003, 06:52:17 PM Well a lot about me is on my About Me page on the main site! But as a summary, my real name is Mark and I draw cartoons in the evenings when I'm not working in a normal job. I'm 23 and... aww heck, just go and read the about me page! I know these guys, Link and Jackal from another forum ;D
: Re:A little about yourself : Roz November 02, 2003, 05:55:44 AM Hi Everyone!
I am Roz, Mark's girlfriend and least critical cartoon critic! I am mad on the Lord of the Rings and am a big fan of the movie and even looking forward to the new game. In my spare time (when I am not assessing Mark's cartoons or playing games or watching or reading the Lord of the Rings) I am doing a PhD at Cambridge University in Geography... so that keeps me pretty busy ;D Take care (oh and I tell people to do that a lot!) Roz : Re:A little about yourself : Pumpkined November 03, 2003, 01:16:27 AM I'm called Pumpkined here (pronounced Pumpkin Ed :P)
My real name is Liam Cruse and my website isStuperHeros entertainment (http://www.stuperheros.com) it has some cartoons and a daily webcomic on ;D I'm 15 years old : Re:A little about yourself : LINK November 03, 2003, 11:03:39 AM wow..it seems like everyone has a nicer life than mine, anyone wanna trade? :D
: Re:A little about yourself : Pumpkined November 03, 2003, 05:57:15 PM my life sucks ass so you can have it for free! ;D
: Re:A little about yourself : moley November 03, 2003, 09:23:57 PM A little about me eh well err
My name is Daniel Smith in real life. On the internet I go by the name moley or lordmoley if the name moley is already taken. I am 17 years old and live in England. I attent a fairly local college and study ICT, Bussines Studies, and TV and Video Productions( only picked this one to fill up a few free hours on my time table because if I didnt I would have to learn sign language for 5 hours a week.) My hobbies are :- listening to music Playing music Playing computer games Forums RP'ing and spending time with friends in general : Re:A little about yourself : ILoveHolidays November 27, 2003, 10:47:22 PM My turn!!!!
I have been unofrtunate enough to know Mark and Roz since meeting them both at Uni :( ( Only kidding :P). They are both great fun to spend time with, and you can see from the comics what a fab sense of humour Mark has. I am 23 and live in Kent, travelling into London to work each day. My hobbies are Shotokan karate, Scuba diving and going out for meals etc :). My main priority in life, however, is to have as many holidays as possible! I can't stand winter in the UK, and crave the sunshine. Think that's enough about me for now, don't want to bore you all to sleep, Caroline : Re:A little about yourself : Yankee-boy December 18, 2003, 11:47:20 PM My name is Tom and I am but a lowly calf. How does one increase their social standing, anyway? Am I destined to remain a calf for now and ever more - fresh-faced, mal-coordinated, and wet behind the ears? Or is there a chance I might someday reach the dizzy heights of the rank of Chief Official Quadruped (COQ)?
I like your web-site, Mark, and I checked out your cartoons, Liam. Nice. Right, I'm off to go see The Return Of The King. : Re:A little about yourself : MakTheYak December 26, 2003, 12:05:02 AM Hey Tom, thanks for stopping on by! How are you doing these days anyway, it's been ages since I heard from you!
You increase your social standing by posting lots... it goes up the more you post. Obviously right now there's not a lot to post about as it's fairly dead in here but I have big plans for the future, oh yes!! ;) : Re:A little about yourself : samwise16 May 18, 2004, 08:18:28 PM The names Ben ;)
I'm a huge poster on the Showmasters board where most of my life is spent, and i post on the topps board. I got to know roz through topps auto & costume cards..ever since then i have never had £10 to my name for over 1 week...all because of...ROZ! :'( :P I'm a huge fan of the Lord of the rings films, not read the book yet but i will, i will. I'm also a big fan of Harry Potter, mainly the books as the films havn't satisfied me yet, but POA is out soon so we'll see. I live in Nottingham and travel to Milton Keynes to see the showmasters lot and London to go to premieres and London Film & Comic Con I now also work as crew for showmasters ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mottthopl May 23, 2004, 07:56:49 AM Hi I'm Tom from Collinsville Il. in the US. I know several folks on this board from the Topps LOTR board. mark and Roz, thanks for putting up a new Place. Roz as for your I'm 23 and should I skate topic! I'm 40 and I skateboard a bit, the older I get, the less I care about looking like a fool.
Enjoy! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mottthopl May 23, 2004, 08:02:43 AM A bit more bio in is in order, I suppose. I've been grooving on LOTR since 1976. I work as a geologist/technocrat for Illinois EPA. I collect Weta Polystone LOTR sculptures and LOTR Autos. I'm also a professional photographer and college teacher on the side. I'm 40 going on 21 and I have two Welsh Corgi's named Frodo and Pippin.
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz May 23, 2004, 08:13:45 AM Hooray - I'm now 24 and skating ;) at first I was slow to learn and got downhearted, now I have had a lesson I am getting better all the time and LOVE IT!
Good to see you here! R : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz May 23, 2004, 08:16:17 AM PS What is a "Welsh" corgi? Is that different from normal corgis - short orangey ginger lads that the Queen likes to have around?
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 May 23, 2004, 09:03:22 AM I'm a bum...*cough* sorry i mean student. ;)
I'm going to try staking one day with Roz and Mark aren't i Roz.....Mark? :-\ : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mottthopl May 23, 2004, 11:13:40 AM Same as normal Corgis. Two types Pembroke and Cardigan. Our dogs are Pembroke, Cardigans have longer tails (like "Blue Dog" in paintings by Louisiana USA Artist).
Yes Roz, like the Queens dogs. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak May 23, 2004, 10:57:06 PM My name is Jo and I originally started posting on the Topps board when I began collecting LOTR autograph cards (started when I was surfing ebay, saw a TT Legolas auto card, thought 'ooh, that looks cool, I'll pick that up' as my sole LOTR movie memorabilia item. Did not think it would be such an addictive hobby as many will attest!). Roz directed me to this site as she wanted to introduce me to another fellow cyber yak ;D
I'm a university student in Australia and have been a huge fan of LOTR since I read the books as a 9 year old kid. Harry Potter I picked up a bit later around the release of Goblet of Fire (thought, geez, whats the hype about???) and have been extremely obsessed with since. Anyone want to hear me recite PoA off by heart? ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 May 24, 2004, 02:43:40 AM me too jo with the harry potter, i thought it was a sad book when i saw everyone else reading it in school. Turned out my mum had got me the books in the summer holidays and i tell you, that book lost me a few so called friends lol :-\ it was worth it though, hardly friends if they can't handle a mate reading a book :D
Some new people have joined today, please come in and introduce yourselves, i don't bite but Roz does :-\ : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 May 28, 2004, 05:51:08 AM I met Mark via eBay when I purchased The Fellowship Top Trumps set from him in January 2003. We have developed a fantastic friendship since then to include his beautiful girlfriend Roz. It is amazing how interest in The Lord of the Rings brings people from all over the world together. :)
I am a huge collector of LOTR's items but concentrate on Decipher's LOTR's CCG - I have at least one of every card printed so far and also collect Topps LOTR's cards, Autographs, and Costume Cards. I am missing just a Legolas, Gimli, Merry, and Elrond Autograph card. I have all the Costume Cards except Frodo's Elven Nightshirt. I too collect LOTR's Weta polystone figures and have Boromir, Aragorn, and Gandalf the Grey. I am awaiting receipt of the new King Aragorn figure sometime next month. My real life mainly has been flying fighter aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps for the past 27 years. I am on medical leave now and enjoying life one day at a time. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna May 30, 2004, 11:28:39 AM Hi :)I'm a big fan of LOTR and Harry Potter like many of you already here, though I'm only really interested in collecting the former of the two. My real name is Julie ... though I prefer to be called Jules! ::) ;D I met Mark and Roz briefly through eBay, when I bought a set of Topps Trumps cards from them and although I haven't traded with them recently, I do regularly check to see what other 'goodies' they have up for grabs! ;) I'm fascinated by their current auction for the HP Pear Tree Leaves card and from how things were looking earlier on this evening, it should top the £1,000 amount easily. ;D I've seen several of you on my travels through the eBay listings and have often wondered 'who' you all are behind your trading names if I haven't been fortunate to win one of your auctions to find that out! LOL Ben ... you're just up the road from me, so "Ey up" from a fellow Midlander! :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz May 31, 2004, 04:55:50 AM LOL great to see you here Jules; we had nearly 250 packs of those top trumps and we have posted them to all corners of the globe, mostly for a very cheap buy it now price - they go for 6 to 7 times that price now :-\ but we have obviously spread LOTR happiness (some might call it madness) around so that's all good!
I hope you have bundled up FOTR, TT and ROTK top trumps up for a gigantic game... it can last for days ;D Well all that's left now is to grab a cup of tea and see if anyone else nibbles at the peartree; it's very much like fishing this... although I've never tried fishing so what on earth would I know ::) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna May 31, 2004, 07:22:12 AM Hi Roz ~ thanks for the welcome! ;D
WOW that was a lot of packs you had and I count myself very lucky in that I managed to get hold of one of them before the prices shot through the roof. :P I sat and watched the closing stages of your PLT auction tonight, nail-biting stuff considering how much dosh was at stake. CONGRATS on getting such a good price for it though I honestly thought it would top the £1,000 ... oh well I wasn't far off! 8) Wonder when the next PTL card will go up on eBay ::) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz May 31, 2004, 08:26:50 AM LOL - it was a box of 250 packs... it was a devil to lift I can tell you :-\
I think that the prices only went up when I stopped selling so cheaply - for the last 30 packs or so. I still have 5 lying around somewhere but I am a big fan of the movie so I like to have a few bits and pieces here and there. ;D I haven't heard from the peartree bidder but I am assured he's genuine by good ol' CJD on the forum. That may go a teeny way to mending my finances after the release of this set :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : YaknPantsTurkey June 04, 2004, 09:53:23 AM Hi all. Just wondered in here.... but i love yaks. yeeeeak! yay for the yadkinville yaks! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 June 04, 2004, 10:04:57 AM welcome welcome welcome, i would love to be a yak, unfortunatly all i am is a hobbit :-\
Where have you come root, where are your roots, the topps forum, ebay, or is the forum known elsewhere? ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : beckham1 June 13, 2004, 08:11:05 AM I have been posting for a few weeks, just haven't taken the time to put my info.
I was happy to find the board as I was looking for more info on the HP POA. I mostly collect sports cards (Hockey, Baseball, (American) Football, Soccer/(football) but have always liked LOTR and HP movies. I am trying to work my way through some of the books now. I am trying to finish completing my costume sets from FOTR and TTT and eagerly looking forward to ROTK costume cards. I didn't know about the HP cards until my local hobby shop guy told me about them and he thought they would be the next big thing. He was right I guess. He only had 10 cases and they were gone before I could get any more than one box. I was able to get another 15 boxes on ebay and a couple from a online shop. I think the cards are great and feel lucky to hear new info from such knowledgable collectors!!!! Oh I live in sunny California (93 degrees F right now) and am 28 yrs old, but 15 at heart! You guys are great big thanks to the people who seem to maitain the site (Roz & Mark I think and hope I am not forgetting anyone) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : dayhiker June 25, 2004, 09:22:36 PM ;) well, i'm back...

And to any other lurkers lurking out there - join up! We'd love to 'see' you :D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall July 20, 2004, 08:27:28 AM Have been here a little while and am loving this Forum
mtbucktin on ebay Mcgonagall here And at home and Marcia I mainly love harry potter witha bit of stargate and charmed on the side. I love all the fun and great conversation that happen here and how everyone helps each other . : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Dalamara75 July 21, 2004, 08:12:02 AM Hi Everyone,
Well, I'm new here, just wandered over from the Topps forum. My screen name for both places is Dalamara75, but outside of my fantasy world, I'm known as Becky ;). I'm absolutely mad for anything LotR, been a fan for waaaaay too long now, and I'm also a huge HP fan. I love almost all Fantasy stuff, and am happy to chat about it anytime. Glad to be here, you guys seem to be having so much fun! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 21, 2004, 07:52:07 PM Seeing as my buddy Mark - Head Yak - is very busy programming I want to welcome aboard both Mcgonagall and Dalamara to The Forum! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall July 22, 2004, 08:53:57 AM Thank you for the welcome salvage
I have a question though what country is everyone from???? : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Dalamara75 July 22, 2004, 10:13:08 AM Thanks for the welcome!! Oh, and I live in the lovely U.S. of A. (A land blessedly free of LotR conventions...::growls angrily:: )
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 22, 2004, 04:44:00 PM I live in the State of New Hampshire, United States of America. We have people from all over the world here on The Forum! :) Where are you from mcgonagall and dalamara?
Dalamara - there is the only United States showing of The Lord of The Rings Exhibition coming up next month in Boston, Massachusetts. It runs from August 1st through mid October. This is the one that has been making its rounds around the world. It is being held at the Museum of Science and I already have my tickets as it is within easy reach from where I live. :) You are correct when you state that there are no LOTR's Conventions around here though!! :( : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall July 22, 2004, 06:10:05 PM Perth Australia here no lotr conventions or harry potter on conventions to speak of at all
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 22, 2004, 07:01:33 PM I have seen pictures of Perth - it looks very beautiful. :) Do you live near the water mcgonagall?
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall July 22, 2004, 07:40:09 PM 15 minutes from the middle of the city and 15 minutes to the beach
and Perth is a fantastic place to live but right now it is cold it is the middle of winter here : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 23, 2004, 05:49:28 PM Yes that is right - our seasons are reversed. I live in the mountains and during our last Winter in January of this year I recorded a temperature of -32 F! That is actual air temp with no wind blowing. It was so cold that morning I could hear the sap in the trees exploding - it actually sounded like gun shots going off!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak July 23, 2004, 08:08:56 PM Sap exploding??? I didn't even know that was possible! :o
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall July 24, 2004, 09:47:16 AM okay okay not exact but fun anyway my kids loved them
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 July 24, 2004, 09:35:05 PM yea i have to say savage some of the photos you sent me defiently showed how cold it must be over where you are. Here it is just wet :-\ but at the mo its pretty humid...moist so basically that still equals to percipitation
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 26, 2004, 06:22:15 AM Oh yea FTY, it is possible. You should see some of the cracks in the trees after this happens! These are life threatening temps and you would not last very long if you were not dressed properly.
Good to see you here Ben, I hope all is going well for you. :) Hot & Humid is ok for a short period especially after a long Winter. We had that going on for a few days and then all of a sudden it felt like Fall with cool temps in the 60's and overcast. This has been one strange Summer weather pattern we have been in. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak July 26, 2004, 06:21:13 PM Eeek! I live 15 minutes walk from 3 of Sydney's finest beaches and practically live in my shorts and t-shirts for most of the year! Will have to buy whole new wardrobe if I come over to visit you... darn ;)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 July 27, 2004, 09:12:52 AM Hi FTY:
Shorts and T-shirts are good for at most 5 months here and do we ever look forward to it!! :) No matter what time of the year it is, it is worth visiting here as I am sure the same holds true for Sydney. :) If you ever get to my neck of the woods you are welcome here. :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Sam August 04, 2004, 10:33:34 PM hello all I just joined the site, I found out about it from my uncle, who has joined

I have been lurking for about a week now, so i thought that i would join and make my first post a hello one. Look forward to chatting with all of you. Kay ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall August 25, 2004, 05:59:28 AM Welcome Kay for Perth Australia
Hope you have fun and post alot : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Choice of Lúthien September 03, 2004, 06:51:23 PM Another newbie stepping up to say "hello".
My real name is Alyssa but I go by Choice of Lúthien on the topps board and TORN. I love LOTR and have had some incredible experiences because of the movies. I'm also a big HP fan--loved the books, disappointed in the first two movies but thought PoA was great! I collected the topps autograph and costume cards for awhile...then I realized I just did not have enough money to keep them and I'd rather spend what I did have on traveling. I've collected some other LOTR things but the pride of my collection is almost all the "for your consideration" ads from the three movies. ;D Looks like a good board--looking forward to posting in what little free time I have! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall September 03, 2004, 09:41:47 PM Welcome and I hope you enjoy this fantastic forum.
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Elle_driver September 26, 2004, 12:32:16 PM Hey Everybody!!!, well, my username is Elle_Driver and, i am either spending all day watching movies(i love tarantino movies!!! 8)), collecting cards(usually only if they contain authentic worn stuff ;)), or sitting at one of the many starbucks'es that are around (no foam vanilla latte :)), or i am on Ebay, spending my money on stuff like HP POA cards!!! ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak September 26, 2004, 02:24:23 PM HIya, nice to see you posting! I myself have only seen Kill Bill1 and 2 of TArantino's movies, but plan to see some of the others :) Which would you recommend?
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Elle_driver September 27, 2004, 12:39:10 AM I would say that Pulp Fiction would have to be his best movie next to Kill Bill vol.1, its got great acting with Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Samuel l Jackson, Bruce willis, it has tons of movie quotes in it from everywhere, and a great dance scene between Uma and John travolta
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : gollumstreasures October 08, 2004, 01:55:53 AM Hi
Just a quick note to say Hello to you all I an new to this board. I am keen LOTR collector from the toys, trading cards, signed cards, and lithos as well as anything else I can find. Talk to you all soon : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz October 08, 2004, 02:44:07 AM Welcome Welcome Gollums treasures. It's particularly nice to meet a fan of the lithos. I am working pretty hard at getting all of my character lithographs signed ;D
Have fun here and be sure to show off if you get any of your lithos signed - l'll be dead jealous : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : zero October 10, 2004, 04:13:49 AM Hey guys!
After exclusively reading for about a month or two, I think it's about time I posted! My real name is Mike, and I'm a senior at the Pennsylvania State University studying Japanese with minors in Linguistics and International Studies. Last year, I spent the entire year abroad studying at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. To make a long story short, my last two months consisted of going to all the Prisoner of Azkaban Events and seeing the movie as many times as possible. Needless to say, I became addicted including the Artbox set. It's gonna be great to finally start talking to everyone instead of just reading ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz October 10, 2004, 02:59:02 PM Very much so - we will all enjoy reading your perspective on it too... probably... unless we disagree with it.
I would loooove to learn Japanese, but not as much as Mark who has bought some CDs to do so, if we need any tips can we mail you? Cheers Roz : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 October 10, 2004, 04:38:24 PM It is great to see all the new folks here - welcome! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : zero October 10, 2004, 11:27:28 PM Thanks for the welcome!
Roz, you can email me anytime with questions. If I can't answer it, I'll ask my friends or professors. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak October 11, 2004, 05:14:10 PM It's true, I have to say I'm a bit of a Japanophile... I am in love with all the Studio Ghibli films, like Spirited Away etc I love a lot of J-Pop music and I think they make the best computer games there ;D I'm fascinated by the culture and I'm dying to start learning the language so I can start watching and listening to Japanese TV and radio (and understanding it!).
Anyway, welcome to all you lovely people... I'm afraid I've been a bit lax in this thread :-\ I shall have to make amends.... : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak October 11, 2004, 05:17:52 PM My weakness for Japanese culture stems from the food - I adore sushi in particular :)
Having a Japanese flatmate is very very handy ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : eXel October 11, 2004, 09:04:33 PM Hey, im bens friend. i aint really into cards yet but wen i get some money i will definatly get into it.
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz October 11, 2004, 09:10:45 PM Hi, yes I've heard a bit about you!
Good luck in starting off - it can be a tad pricey to start ;) it only gets worse from there - trust me! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : C0r1 October 11, 2004, 09:16:00 PM Hi I'm chris , one of Ben's (Samwisae16) College friends. He's been talking to me today about the new HP update set and i fancy going Halves with him on and case, he has been reasuring me most of the day i will make money on it, and he's told me to come on here and ask you guys, what do you think, is it worth getting involved with it???
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : eXel October 11, 2004, 09:17:38 PM Hi chris. :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 October 11, 2004, 09:17:46 PM Hey, im bens friend. i aint really into cards yet but wen i get some money i will definatly get into it. You'll never have any money mate : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz October 11, 2004, 09:23:06 PM Welcome welcome... Ben are you going to get your entire College on here then :-\ ;D
I wouldn't trust Ben further than I can throw him. You can't make any money on him ;) Nah just kidding, in theory yes from an investment point of view I suppose you should be able to make money on it - if you had bought and sold 5 boxes (half a case) from the first set at the right time you could have spent £150 and sold your half case for £500. But trading cards are not a sure fire way to make money - you would have only made the above cash if you had left the boxes sealed, and at the end of the day and if all went wrong you've got to like the pieces of card enough to want to spent £150 on them and have only got the cards out of it! AND it's also tough because this set is more expensive to start with! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Martyn October 21, 2004, 11:50:56 PM Hi ;D
Im new, but been reading here for a couple days now :-* : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : olly October 21, 2004, 11:52:17 PM Hi Martyn!!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 October 22, 2004, 01:36:04 AM Hi Martyn welcome, hope you get a box of HP update for a good price :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Trey October 24, 2004, 05:30:29 AM Hi,
Just introducing myself, even though I have already posted a few times! My name is Tracey & I live in the gorgeous country of Australia...in Melbourne to be precise. I am a small-time collector of HP and LOTR costume and auto cards, my fetish started off with LOTR costume cards but I am now stuck on HP. I have only ordered 3 boxes of HP PoA Update (it may be four, I am trying to subdue myself but it isn't working) but I am hoping to pull something really nice like a harry, ron, or hermione auto.....i wish ;D Anyway, fantastic forum and I love catching up on all the news!! Trey : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 October 25, 2004, 04:02:44 PM Welcome to Trey & Martyn! I love the way The Forum is gaining new members! Spread the word good people!! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : blackcat20 October 25, 2004, 04:19:26 PM I love how there seem to be more people from Australia now, and more specifically Melbourne! ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Trey October 25, 2004, 04:28:57 PM Thanks heaps for the warm welcome!! I love it here ;D I never realised that there were a lot of people from Australia (or in Melbourne) that were into cards as much as me (or even so much more than me) so I am so excited to be a part of the forum.
Even though I probably won't have any goss or news before everyone else, I will be contributing! ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 October 25, 2004, 04:53:12 PM That is the fun part of being on the Forum!! I have a question for all of you folks who live in Australia. Do you have any plans on visiting New Zealand and seeing the various sites where the LOTR's was filmed?
I would love to do that some day! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Trey October 25, 2004, 04:58:21 PM Oh I dont think anyone could possibly understand how much I would LOVE to do that ;D I have even seen the location guide book and it would be really good to make an adventure of it and explore all the sites. Unfortunately my crappy job does not pay enough >:( for such an adventure....so I will have to keep dreaming (and saving!!)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sketchqueen October 29, 2004, 09:03:25 PM Hey there all - I'm Sketchqueen because I adore sketch cards - I really hope to see them in more sets but it can be an expensive hobby!
That's about it :) Oh yeah - and I tend to keep to myself a bit : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : gimli October 29, 2004, 09:11:07 PM Hello and welcome
so you like Sketch cards well I like good sketch cards ;) So what sets do you collect and what is your faviorite sketch card : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz October 29, 2004, 09:49:38 PM Hey there all - I'm Sketchqueen because I adore sketch cards - I really hope to see them in more sets but it can be an expensive hobby! Woo yes they are beautiful, what we need is a LOTR set with sketches by Alan Lee and John Howe (no folks, I can't say that often enough ;)) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Choice of Lúthien October 29, 2004, 11:03:55 PM That is the fun part of being on the Forum!! I have a question for all of you folks who live in Australia. Do you have any plans on visiting New Zealand and seeing the various sites where the LOTR's was filmed? I would love to do that some day! :) I actually did that last November/December. I went on the two week Red Carpet tour. It was expensive (as was airfare since I was in Minnesota at that time) but well worth it. It was obviously amazing to see so many of the sites. Edoras was my favorite--it was simply breathtaking! I also fell in love with Fernside--where we see the Fellowship leaving Lothlorien and where the Smeagol/Deagol scene takes place. The best part was perhaps the friends I made. I made some VERY good friends whom I am still in close touch with and will be for years to come. If people want to see pictures I can provide a link, I'm also happy to answer any questions about the sites and such. And welcome to the new members! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 October 30, 2004, 12:54:14 AM PLEASE please please PLease a link....would be amazing :D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 October 30, 2004, 05:42:55 AM Outstanding Choice of Luthien!! :) I think we all would love to hear your first hand accounts of visiting some of our favorite places and your impressions! Plus your photos!! :)
I have the LOTR's Tour Book and drool every time I look at it! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Choice of Lúthien October 30, 2004, 04:08:57 PM OK then.
I've started a new topic in the Prancing Pony for this. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 October 30, 2004, 05:07:52 PM Thanks!! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sketchqueen October 31, 2004, 07:42:10 PM Hello and welcome so you like Sketch cards well I like good sketch cards ;) So what sets do you collect and what is your faviorite sketch card I collect sketch cards from everything - starting with the Marvel sets from the 90's (Creator's Collection, Spidey 97 and Silver Age) and going through to todays' set (Rittenhouse's stuff, SW: Heritage) and some oddball stuff - Diamond solicited a reprint of Tolkien LOTR cards and included a sketch with the sets. Thanks for the warm welcome! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall October 31, 2004, 08:10:01 PM welcome newbies ,
Wow i think i might be the only aussie here from a little place called perth . ;D Glad to have more aussies here though. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Goofyjas October 31, 2004, 09:22:31 PM Guess it is time i posted here, forgot :P
I am goofyjas! you can tell my name of course :) I found out about lotr cards becuase of roz, now she owes me alot of money! I love lotr since i was forced to read the books in school ( and thanked him for that a while ago) I have an old old edition of the books, though they dont look to good now :P Anyway I collect all sorts of LOTR stuff, Cards ( though i have the complete set now from topps) a few posters, Puzzles, Weta ( only have a few pieces but hope that grows! Busts of wraith, WK, WK statue, Sauron statue, Helm, Gandalf the grey) I also am currently trying to meet a bunch of actors, I have met one! several times now, Sean Astin, also met Howard shore and SOon to meet sala baker and Alan Lee. And since there is so much time inbetween I am currently making a scrapbook of my travels :) ( I will try to post some pics when i get some more of it done!!) I live in IL, near chicago, I work at Siemens medical solutions during the day, Go to ITT tech at night, and open packs of cards later at night :P I am good with alot of things, just to many to list! computers are a first hobby. I like to help people out, so if there are people that only ship to the US, I have passed a few parcels on to people over seas :) so if you need help shoot me a PM or email! Not sure what else there is to know about me, but if you want to know just ask :) A big thanks to Mark and Roz for putting this place for us to come together ans bicker about how much we hate topps :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : rincerofwinds November 02, 2004, 11:44:32 PM I thought I say hello after being kindly directed here by gimli (who knew I also post on a certain other message board!).
My name is Ian, and from what I read so far, I am definately in the minority here as I don't collect either HP or LOTR cards :o (yes you did read that correctly) and am also not really interested in autos, costume or sketch cards!!! I do, however, collect Bubblegum cards from the 50's - 70's (mainly A & BC Gum). Well thats it from me for now, other than to say this seems to be a much nicer place to lurk and maybe occasionally post ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 03, 2004, 12:35:12 AM Welcome Rincerofwinds! Maybe we will change your mind and you will start collecting HP & LOTR's cards! :)
What type of cards do you collect from the 50's - 70's? I know you said bubblegum cards but what kind of images are on them? : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 November 03, 2004, 03:46:51 AM Welcome welcome, I'll send you a HP base set and you'll be hooked onto it ;)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak November 03, 2004, 06:14:11 PM Is your name derived from a certain Terry Pratchett by any chance? ;)
(Welcome, BTW!) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : abraxas November 05, 2004, 05:27:30 PM I have sooooo many questions, mainly starting with How? Mostly tho' at the moment my biggest how question is how do I get my hands on those HP Update boxes/tins/cases without going broke.. oooh and if I am only a calf where's my mommy? I am thirsty. ???
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak November 05, 2004, 05:30:53 PM HI abraxas and welcome to the forum :) I see you are from Oz as well - nice to see to see us Aussies slowly inflitrating this forum - mwahahaha!
Well, your best bet is ozcardsinc (www.ozcardsinc.com) in Melbourne, they are selling boxes for $100 each, which is cheaper than buying from overseas and adding shipping and all. I'd advise getting in quick though, I am not sure they have anything left now, but its worth a go. Otherwise - its off to ebay for you :) Also, be careful that you distinguish between the retail boxes (cheaper, but only have 2 retail exclusive costumes and foils) and hobby ones (pricier, have props, autos, costumes). Any more questions, post and Someone will be more than happy to help you out. Especially me - I have been purported to have an opinion on everything ;) (Thanks Roz :D) Hope you enjoy the forum! FTY : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : abraxas November 05, 2004, 05:44:16 PM Dear Ferdie, Hi, thanks for the advice. I tried ozcards, but nothing on their link mentions the Update boxes. Perhaps I am too late. The $100, was that for the retail or hobby boxes. And ummmm do you have one you want to part with *ducks*
I am sure I will enjoy this board, which I found searching for Artbox's site, cause my laptop is very very sick and I am lost without all my histories, etc. Cloud and lining stuff I guess :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak November 05, 2004, 05:52:33 PM They don't mention it, I found out cos I was on the mailing list - I highly advise joining it. You could email them and find out if they have any left.
The $100 was for the hobby boxes : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 05, 2004, 06:01:31 PM Yeah I think you have come just at the right time, there are still cases out there available for purchase and hardly anyone has started to break them down yet!
Welcome and look out for a price guide coming soon - it was worth joining up as that will only be accessible for Members (due to bandwidth costs) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : abraxas November 06, 2004, 12:15:02 PM Hello Roz,
That sounds like a welcome with a sting in the tail. Now all I have to do is get my pic in here somehow. I have it on my pc, I don't have a web addy for it?? : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 06, 2004, 02:50:55 PM :) abraxas

: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : blackcat20 November 08, 2004, 05:32:34 AM I sent the email to oz and have yet to hear anything If your talking about OzCards inc, Jason works at the market all day Sunday so he probably wont have had a chance to reply yet. He is getting plenty of cases in, so Im sure youll get some boxes. If you still cant get through to him let me know and Ill have a go.... ;D Kate : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall November 08, 2004, 06:06:00 PM Hi black i sent the email about a week ago will just have to hope.

But Terry Pratchett is very cool. I'm not sure what to say to him if I ever met him! A very warped, but brilliant mind, that's for sure!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 09, 2004, 05:10:44 AM I second what Mark says about Terry!! He is one weird dude but brilliant as well! :)

: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 14, 2004, 07:10:25 PM Hi FTY and Ben:
Yes I mean Sixpence None the Richer. :) Ben: You got that right!! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 November 14, 2004, 07:14:20 PM Seriously though, cards can really put you in tough situations, if it's not Government Tax, its Trading cards that make you poor ;)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 16, 2004, 10:53:46 PM Ben or Roz:
Tell me about this Government Tax - do they tax you on card purchases? :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 16, 2004, 11:25:29 PM Yes as it happens!
Now stop showing off that there's no sales tax in New Hampshire :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 17, 2004, 08:29:23 AM You know me too well!! ;) Honestly I did not know that you get taxed on cards! ???
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : samwise16 November 17, 2004, 07:00:03 PM You get taxed on everything..even the oxygen you breath, which is far from pure ::)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : C0r1 November 17, 2004, 07:04:47 PM Ok, so I cant remember if I acctually introduced my self, i signed up not long ago when a friend (Ben aka. Samwise16) introduced me to the site. Since then, I have gone halfs on a case of the HP update set with him and have found a new interest in traiding cards. I generally just look around the forums as there are many interesting topics and have a glance at the comics every now and again. Great site Mark and Roz.
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 17, 2004, 07:19:36 PM You know me too well!! ;) Honestly I did not know that you get taxed on cards! ??? We get taxed 17.5% on anything classed as a luxury item; so for instance you are not taxed on basic essentials like bread or biscuits but you are taxed on cake, booze, petrol (gas), cards, computer equipment. In fact there really are very few things that we are not taxed on. Fortunately in our shops here prices always include tax so we don't have to calculate it - Mark said when he was in Florida when he was little he picked up things and they hadn't included tax in the price shown which was hard for a little kid counting up his change to buy things! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 17, 2004, 08:09:05 PM Welcome COr1!! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 17, 2004, 08:10:45 PM Hi Roz:
I did not know that Mark visited Florida when he was younger!! How long ago was that and how long was he here for and what did he see and/or visit? : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 17, 2004, 08:13:20 PM Alas... *hangs head in shame* Disneyland or Disneyworld whichever's in that area
*more head hanging in shame* I think he was probably 12... :) (Has Mark been keeping secrets from you :o) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 17, 2004, 08:17:49 PM Doesn't everybody!! ;) I really do not recall if he ever told me he visited Disneyland or not! :(
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak November 17, 2004, 11:49:52 PM Roz, you forgot to mention that while biscuits are not taxed, slap a bit of chocolate on them and suddenly they are taxable! But it doens't make a big difference - things that are taxable are normally marked up in the shops to include the tax in the price. The only time you sometimes see prices without tax is for computer and office equipment because companies don't pay tax on items bought for the business.
Yes I think I was about 10 when I first went to Disney World. It's great fun for all the family :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 17, 2004, 11:52:57 PM Roz, you forgot to mention that while biscuits are not taxed, slap a bit of chocolate on them and suddenly they are taxable! Which is another reason why Hob Nobs are better than Chocolate Hob Nobs! (sorry folks I've landed you right in the middle of a domestic there :P) I great fun for all the family :) Glad to see the beauty of the English language is being destroyed on the board by the owner! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak November 17, 2004, 11:54:58 PM Glad to see you can still spot my mistakes but all the perfectly spelled words just seemed to pass you by ;)

: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz November 22, 2004, 03:30:00 AM Yeah I think I am too young for this conversation! I'm going to rate it - over 25's only - I'll check back in next April :P
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 22, 2004, 05:07:50 AM Ok now that the young ones have left the room - ;) - just kidding Roz!! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Eve November 27, 2004, 06:10:06 AM Hi everyone, after some time as a lurker, I finally decided to register!
I live in New York City, collect mainly Lord of the Rings, some Harry Potter Cards(love the Artbox sets!) Buffy and Angel(wrong forum, I know), plus lots of other mish mash. Just wanted to say hi! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 27, 2004, 05:38:39 PM Hi Eve and welcome!! :) How long have you lived in New York City? You are probably the closest Forum member geographically to me as I live in New Hampshire. I used to live in Connecticut until I moved up here in 2002.
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Eve November 28, 2004, 08:16:14 AM thanks for the welcome....I've lived in NYC for 10 years, and love it. My only complaint is that since everything costs so much here, we usually don't get a lot of great collectible shows or conventions here :'(
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 November 29, 2004, 02:09:28 AM Unfortunately no shows or conventions here either. :(
I was lucky enough to be able to attend The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Exhibition in Boston this summer! :) It was the only location in the United States to host this special event! :) I enjoy reading about other people's experiences on this Forum who attend shows and conventions and meet LOTR's stars! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sketchqueen December 03, 2004, 05:43:10 AM While I've already done an introductory post, it was brought to my attention that I may have left out a few (key) details.
One, my name is Joanna. And two, I work for a trading card company. Some trading card company that does not product LOTR or HP cards (though, at times I wish I did work elsewhere!) See, I thought everyone knew that I was sketchqueen because of my obscene fascination with sketch cards but Olly politely reminded me that this was not the case and that it might be, what's the word? Um.. Oh, I don't know - it just seemed like I was hiding, when I'm not. SOOO - if anyone object to me stopping by from time to time, deal with it :P I'm not here to check up on anyone. I'm not here to stir the pot. I'm here cause it's a cool site and I collect HP and LOTR cards. So there. :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz December 03, 2004, 05:58:00 AM LOL
Alas LOTR cards (unless Topps really think of something interesting - or get Alan Lee and John Howe to sketch) might be coming to a close (despite another 3 years of licenses.... (I am wondering how many more Aragorn/Viggo autos Topps can get us to buy :P) ... so we might have to branch out into something new Joanna ;) In otherwords - there might be a vacancy soon ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 December 06, 2004, 05:07:23 PM Hi Roz:
Now that you have introduced us to Warren and his sketch cards I am not so concerned as to what Topps will do or not. Somehow I cannot see both Alan Lee and John Howe being paid enough by Topps to produce the quantity of sketch cards that would be necessary. Warren's work is outstanding and I look forward to seeing more of it! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Boggle December 12, 2004, 03:16:13 AM Hello all,
Thought i'd better say hello, rather than lurking forever! I mainly collect buffy and angel (i know, wrong forum) but if i post enough i may convert you all!!! I live in Sussex, in the UK, and spend far too much on cards... Pete : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz December 12, 2004, 03:47:30 AM I mainly collect buffy and angel (i know, wrong forum) but if i post enough i may convert you all!!! Pete Welcome Pete, this certainly isn't the "wrong forum" for anything. If I am honest with you it is hoped that we will add ALL new card sets to the forum price guide http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/tradingcards/ that we can get images for, and I do know that there are a handful of other Buffy/Angel fans on the board too :) if you guys have enough to chat about there's no reason why you can't have your own board on here really. I spend far too much on cards... I hear ya :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Galadriels Babe December 12, 2004, 12:15:41 PM Hi everyone, I joined this forum because I absolutely adore LOTR-books and movies! I was born and raised in New York City and I like to collect all things LOTR. I also love Buffy and Angel. Now that they're no longer airing on tv, my favorite show is Lost. I 'm also a big fan of sci-fi and horror films. ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz December 12, 2004, 05:03:14 PM It sounds like you have excellent taste ;)
LOTR is fantastic - I am a much bigger fan of the extended editions than the Theatrical editions they seem to get a step closer to the books (I still haven't forgiven PJ for changing things but overall the world Tolkien described is brought to life by these movies if not the exact story he told :)) So I am a huge fan too :) *and - shh but I don't think we are alone* : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 December 12, 2004, 06:05:18 PM Welcome to both Boggle & Galadriels Babe!! :) You both have interests many of us share so we look forward to hearing your thoughts!! :)
We love "Lost" as well!! :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : rns91294 December 23, 2004, 03:27:33 AM I just wanted to welcome all the Newbies and say Hello myself, as although I am far from new here, I never actually introduced myself in this thread. Sorry about that!!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Boggle December 25, 2004, 02:39:42 AM Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! :)
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Geek Boy January 02, 2005, 08:30:41 PM Just a quick hello - at 38 I'm probably far too old for this sort of thing (games, forums, card collecting) but hey, whatever floats your boat. I met Olly and MPC at Memorabilia this year (MPC christened me Geek Boy and it sort of stuck) but I'm also known as General Ka Dargo - big fan of Farscape. So there you go, that's me. Happy New Year!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : olly January 03, 2005, 01:41:22 AM Hey Geek Boy!!
Hope you had a good Christmas. It was good to meet you at Memo and just as good to see you on the Yak Shack ;D Welcome and Happy New Year! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : kbmum January 03, 2005, 01:58:41 AM Don't worry about your age here! I'm older than you and so are some other members of the forum. It's fun to have a second childhood (or so I told my husband when I asked for HP boxes for Christmas)!
Welcome! :D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Geek Boy January 03, 2005, 04:37:19 PM Hi Olly, thanks for the welcome and yes, I had a great Christmas. The DS and PSP consoles kept me occupied for a fair bit of it! Did MPC tell you to call me Geek Boy then?
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz January 03, 2005, 06:07:04 PM Hee hee - well it wasn't me... promise ;D ... olly had to remind me who you were ::)
I was the very tall girl (with Olly's wife on Olly's stall). With a big yak shack banner up behind me :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak January 03, 2005, 06:48:26 PM Welcome! Pull up a chair and get yakking :p
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : olly January 03, 2005, 06:54:49 PM Did MPC tell you to call me Geek Boy then? No not at all, the first I heard of it was your introduction here ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz January 03, 2005, 08:09:22 PM Did MPC tell you to call me Geek Boy then? No not at all, the first I heard of it was your introduction here ;D In that case your name is cleared... you aren't rudeOlly after all - it must have been that scamp MPC ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : olly January 03, 2005, 08:28:31 PM Oh I didn't mean be rude, I was only addressing Geek Boy by his forum ID ;D ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Geek Boy January 03, 2005, 11:07:52 PM Well MPC called me Geek Boy at Memo - whilst testing my knowledge of Star Wars (and trying to sell me a load of cards). Pretty cheeky considering it was only the second time we'd met :P
But it's OK - rather be a geek than a nerd. A colleague at work is in to all this sort of stuff too and he gets mightily offended if anyone calls him a nerd. So he gets called "nerd" a lot ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : olly January 03, 2005, 11:11:12 PM Well I have to say seeing you in the flesh I wouldn't have labeled you a geek at all. But I didn't test your knowledge so you might be yet ;) ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Geek Boy January 04, 2005, 03:20:56 AM aaaw, that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a long while... sniff...

I only remember what they have forgotten to do instead of what they have done lol And what about peace and quiet i seem to remember something about it : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz January 10, 2005, 03:31:34 PM as my kids say I only remember what they have forgotten to do instead of what they have done That's not old age - as far as I can make out that's just motherhood : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : flobo2020 January 11, 2005, 06:38:29 AM Hey guys!
I've joined this forum a little over a week and I've decided it is time I introduce myself. My name is Stephen and I live in Toronto, Canada. I am 15 years old and I am new to Harry Potter Trading cards. I first read Harry Potterand the PS when I was 6 or 7, I can't remember. The book just came out and my mom wanted to buy it for me. I read alot at an early age but I thought HP sounded stupid so I was not interested. My mom bought it anyways and it turned out to be one of the best books I have read. My first copy of HP is now worn out (it was the very first printing with the man with the brown beard on the back- Flammel?) but I noe have all hardcovers and I collect the special editions. I don't really like the movies as they leave way too much out, but I like the third movie. That was my favorite book and so far the best movie (though they left out Griffindor winning the quidditch world cup- how could they? >:() My favorite movie is the LOTR, I loved the movies since I saw them and everyone in my school knows me as a LOTR freak. I used to play the LOTR TCG but I got pissed (can I say pissed on these boards? ???) with Decipher and dropped it, though my love for LOTR is strong. I then turned to Rittenhouse Archives for their Stargate SG-1 Costume Cards as Stargate is my all time favorite show (I'm know as a Stargate freak too ;)). Sadly nowhere in Toronto sells HP or SG-1 cards so I buy individual cards on E-bay (don't ask how a 15-year old got an account - I'm responsible so no one notices). I joined these boards because I love all the same things you guys do and I don't know much about the cards. I plan to be an involved member of the boards but I may ask many questions- sorry. I don't have a job as I have school right now, but I get my funds from saving my lunch mony and allowance- yes, 15 and get an allowance- If I save all my money and go with out lunch, I have $70 a week which is not bad. My name on ebay is flobo2020 and I buy mostly Stargate and Hermione Costume Cards. Sorry about the very long intro and hope to be friends!! ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz January 11, 2005, 03:55:39 PM Welcome welcome! It's nice to have more Canadians too as we are rather dominated by the UK (me) and US folk at the moment with a strong band of Aussies and I think just one other Canadian (Crystles).
I am gonna get all rude now and tell you to at least get a banana with some of your lunch money so that you don't do yourself some kind of injury by not eating. Do you have breakfast? (if you do then that's ok because I never have breakfast so I guess we are even). What upset you about the Decipher cards? The sheer quantity? (250-300 cards a set is not uncommon) or did the rules get too easy/too hard for playing them? From purely an aesthetic point of view many of the decipher cards I have seen have been beautiful!!! Some of the foils are very cool indeed (admittedly some work less well but it's all swings and roundabouts). P.S. Questions are welcome - I bet you will be asking what many people are wondering ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : flobo2020 January 11, 2005, 05:32:43 PM Thanks for the welcome Roz! ;D you guys are really nice! The thing that made me drop Decipher was that the first 10 sets were pretty good but for the final 9, they changed the rules to "liven it up" and now whole cultures are unuseable. Now you have to build a deck around a new culture. They are starting to faze out sets and you now can't use cards from the first block (first three sets) which had really good cards. They have made promos almst imposible to get. Before, you used to get promos in magazines and DVDs but now, you have to go to Gencon to get an exclusive promo, go to France to get another- it's crazy. If you ask me, they are just trying to get more money and I don't like it. I then heard of Rittenhouse and I had a feeling that they were a smaller company than Decipher. I like this because then they would be more likely to listen to the customer and be more down to earth. Also the cards are great! :D. I still like LOTR very much but I can't spend money on something that I can't use. The Stargate cards are fantastic and I like them better than the LOTR TCG. Sorry, I've seem to ramble on again! :-X See ya guys later!
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : savage727 January 11, 2005, 08:27:49 PM Hello and welcome flobo2020! :)
I know what you mean about Decipher's LOTR's CCG! I never did play but I do collect the cards. The recent change in Promo card distribution is very upsetting and I know of several people who have left the game and or collecting due to the rules change and Promo card craziness. There is no way I am going to shell out $80 to $200 for the new Promo cards - there are 10+ new ones out as of today and more seem to pop up almost weekly! If they keep down this path they will lose me as well as I cannot afford them nor get to the venues where these cards are offered! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sketchqueen January 11, 2005, 09:49:26 PM Hey Flobo!
I'm lucky enough to work for Rittenhouse as the Customer Service manager :) And yeah - we're small, only 5 employees (and that includes the boss!!) but we all love what we do : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : flobo2020 January 12, 2005, 04:17:04 AM Hi sketchqueen!
I want to thank you guys for your extraordinary cards and tell you to keep up the good work! I love the cards! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna January 12, 2005, 06:16:32 AM I only wish Rittenhouse had the licence for the LOTR cards instead of Topps .... just imagine how much different the sets would've been and what fantastic Customer Service we would've had! ;) ;D
I think you'd have to love what you do otherwise you wouldn't be able to do it! 8) A big 'Hello' to Stephen from another Brit ~ the more the merrier eh Roz! :D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna January 15, 2005, 09:28:11 PM I figured I should properly introduce myself to the forum, so here it is.
My name is Anna (I’m not creative enough to think of a cool forum name) and I live in southern California (about 20 miles south of Los Angeles). I’m 45 years old (much older than most of you) and I work at one of the large aerospace companies here. I’m not married, but I live with my significant other (thankfully he’s not into trading cards, we’d be broke otherwise!). We’ve been together now for 17 years and we have no children. In August of last year I was out on disability from work (neck problems stemming from two car accidents years ago). The first couple months I was pretty much bedridden, but when I started feeling better, I began surfing the web to amuse myself (I don’t watch TV much). Through an ebay seller, I discovered this forum (can’t recall which seller). Well that was the beginning of my financial disaster!! I got interested in the Harry Potter cards!! Since I was late for the original set, I decided to focus my efforts on the update set. I’ve almost completed that set, so my main concentration is now on the original set (which is pretty pricey!). Thankfully there aren’t as many cards to collect!! I’d been lurking in your forum since October, and have enjoyed reading everyone’s comments, speculations, case/box breakdowns, etc. You all are very helpful and supportive to each other and I found that endearing. I finally registered to be able to view your new price guide (what an amazing guide – kudos to Mark and Roz!). Since then I’ve been dutifully entering auction prices into your guide. I work with data a lot at work so I’m interested in trend analysis. Although at work we don’t have pretty card pictures to go with the data. ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz January 15, 2005, 09:37:21 PM My name is Anna (I’m not creative enough to think of a cool forum name) Join the club - I use Roz - short for Rosalind :) In August of last year I was out on disability from work (neck problems stemming from two car accidents years ago). Oh dear - bad luck there. I am glad to hear you are better and back to work. A close personal friend of mine is currently having both her legs reconstructed and is learning to walk again after a particularly nasty accident too. I think we often underestimate the danger that we can be in when we climb into a car. I’d been lurking in your forum since October ... I finally registered to be able to view your new price guide (what an amazing guide – kudos to Mark and Roz!). Yes we are evil - in case you guys don't realise (because you are all obviously signed up) you can't look at the values contained in the price guide until you have signed up to the forum. It was mostly to ensure that the number of users gave us some reflection as to how many people we had using the price guide too. Since then I’ve been dutifully entering auction prices into your guide. I work with data a lot at work so I’m interested in trend analysis. Although at work we don’t have pretty card pictures to go with the data. ;D And it's much appreciated - you have entered hundreds of values already single handedly - so thank you. If you want easier ways to "trend analyse" card prices then don't worry - we are getting pretty graphs into the guide too but we wanted to wait a while so that the guides had a few months data to work by. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MakTheYak January 15, 2005, 09:43:02 PM The pretty graphs will come I promise! I've just got to figure out how to do it....!
Welcome Anna and thanks for all your hard work on the 'guide! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Morrisap January 21, 2005, 11:04:54 PM I'm a newby for a few months.
I found this site on Topps LOTR stuff I live in Cincinnati but originally from Cadiz, KY I am into Harry Potter & LOTR & Batman How do you move up the rank to a Yak? I am a calf : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna January 22, 2005, 12:49:45 AM Hi Morrisap! ;D

This is the thread where we all introduce ourselves to the other Forum members. You don't have to be specific in what you post either (like your name, location etc. ~ just what you feel comfortable with others knowing). ;) ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz February 06, 2005, 02:58:22 AM Hi Jedi
Hmm well I'd recommend enthusing about Star Wars :) Either in the film section or in the "other trading card" section (about maybe this revenge of the sith set coming out soon). Other than that - it's pretty much a free for all, so go mad :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna February 06, 2005, 02:59:58 AM Jeez Roz ... don't tell him that! ::)

I bought a base set and got a card for this place with it so I am about to do some exploring. It seems a lively place.

: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna March 15, 2005, 10:27:20 PM Hi Glyn! ;D
Exploring is right! There is so much to read around here it'll take you quite while to read everything. I'm only about halfway through. ::) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : CardCollector March 15, 2005, 10:29:23 PM 329 posts and you are half way through? Help this is going to take me a while.
So far I have only just browsed the top topics of each forum! : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz March 15, 2005, 10:34:47 PM Well it's probably in part my fault there are so many posts... you can always tell by their title if they are worth delving into.
Have fun and welcome :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Morningangel-Iola March 16, 2005, 03:33:28 AM Welcome Glyn ;D

(Goes to check if it exists) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz March 18, 2005, 11:29:51 PM New York, New Hampshire, New London, there must be plenty more - but I've never heard of New Yorkshire... :-\
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : zero March 20, 2005, 02:07:17 AM Well ...
After letting my sister read some of the posts, I pain stakingly convinced her to join the forum 8) She's a collector of Rittenhouse's Stargate Cards and bought some of the Harry Potter Update boxes with me ... I'll leave the rest for her introduction ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : thor March 20, 2005, 02:11:16 AM Hi!
I just joined this forum through the nagging of my brother :) I hope that I don't embarress myself but if I do let me apoligize in advance ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : EmmasOneandOnly March 20, 2005, 02:16:47 AM Welcome ;D

: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna March 20, 2005, 05:14:49 AM Welcome to the forum thor! ;D
There's a lot to see around here (your brother's already shown you some). I'm not familiar with the Stargate cards, but I know about the Harry Potter cards (boy do I ::) ). The people here are all really nice. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz March 20, 2005, 05:44:57 AM I hope that I don't embarress myself but if I do let me apoligize in advance ;) Erm - so maybe I ought to apologise too :P Thor that's great - you might want a look in this thread: http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=18;action=display;threadid=1622 You probably know all the info on there but Gimli's/CHris' breakdown is interesting and you can always ask any question to the long suffering and hardworking sketchqueen (Rittenhouses' customer services expert). :) Welcome : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : thor March 20, 2005, 05:57:23 AM Thank you all for the warm welcome :)
My brother did show me that part of the forum and I appreciated Gimli's breakdown of the Stargate cards for me. He just made me realize though that I may never be able to afford the season seven card I really want :'( I already used my brother also to talk to sketchqueen and I liked how nice she was and how she answered my question for me, I did appreciate it. My next question for her would be will a Stargate season 8 cards be in the works soon and if so when ;) I love collecting certain cards and I also love how nice and helpful everyone is on this forum so I look forward to future posts with all of you ;D : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz March 20, 2005, 06:01:24 AM He just made me realize though that I may never be able to afford the season seven card I really want :'( Oh no!! What is it? And is it totally out of reach? Gimli thinks Stargate cards are very good value for what they are - well he's been full of praise for Rittenhouse all weekend (I've almost stopped listening to the end of his sentances they all end the same :P he he he hee hee hee heeh hee - oops he comes on here :-X ) I already used my brother also to talk to sketchqueen Brothers ARE very useful :P My next question for her would be will a Stargate season 8 cards be in the works soon and if so when ;) Cheeky! ::) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : thor March 20, 2005, 06:11:10 AM My brother is very helpful ;D
The Thor card is the one I am after, so far I have been able to obtain every Daniel Jackson card made by Rittenhouse except for this one and the season six promo for the binder exclusive. The first one because of the expense and the second one is my fault because I just can't see spending $40.00 on a binder with a character on it I can't stand :( but I would love to have the promo card in it. I feel like Gimli, I love the Stargate cards also and I think Rittenhouse does an excellent job :) Yeah, you can say I am cheeky , but what else are brothers for ;D I have been waiting for the toy manufacturers and MGM to get off their duff for years to make SG1 action figures and other great merchandise for this show. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall March 20, 2005, 11:26:53 AM Gday thor from Australia
well it is nice to meet another stargate / harry potter fan : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : thor March 20, 2005, 12:24:56 PM Gday thor from Australia A nice day to you also :Dwell it is nice to meet another stargate / harry potter fan Two things I just love to read, watch, and collect. I don't have that many Stargate fans to talk to where I am from so it's nice to hear from other people who like it also. I am not only counting down the days to the new Harry Potter book but also for my favorite books (GOF) movie release in November. Thanks again to all of you for the warm welcome. : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : gimli March 20, 2005, 07:22:03 PM hi i seem to be being mentioned a lot lately ;D
well i like the stargate set a lot it is a great set I can see why people would be a bit upset about the thor card I have one but it cost me over £2500 worth of product to get one. That reminds me i should list some of it on ebay ;) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall March 20, 2005, 07:27:29 PM base set base set base set lol
could you email me a price for the base set please gimli season seven stargate please : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz March 20, 2005, 07:28:31 PM Ahhhhhh, is that the 6 case incentive card... boy this girl aims high - you have a handfull there Zero :P
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Boggle March 21, 2005, 03:57:00 AM Hello Thor! ;D
: Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : thor March 21, 2005, 07:12:23 AM Gimli, please can you tell me when you might be listing your Stargate cards on eBay.
I am on the look out for certain cards, like the 1969 Case Topper card, so I am interested in seeing what you have to offer :) The 60's card is international release only and since I live in the US I am checking out prices on this card so far the cheapest I found it for was $75.00 :-\ My brother was right you all are really nice here, I will have to start getting brave and post in other places :) : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : zero March 22, 2005, 05:43:34 AM Ahhhhhh, is that the 6 case incentive card... boy this girl aims high - you have a handfull there Zero :P yeah, her aims are high, indeed. She'll be able to get those expensive cards faster than I could with HP. I'm just a student, and well, she has a full-time job. If it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be collecting cards today. In fact, there are only two card collectors our family. Oh yeah, did I mention that she is only one of five sisters. Luckily, we all don't live together ;) It's rather hard to explain to the others that our card has the value. We are frequently called the "cardboard collectors" (in a semi-joking way) :P : Re:Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Morningangel-Iola March 22, 2005, 05:48:50 AM [It's rather hard to explain to the others that our card has the value. I've only been collecting since Last August but already it's such an addiction, i'm just glad to know there are people who spend more money on cards than me. This seems like such a friendly forum hopefully i have something positive to add every once in a while though i'm more likely to be just reading as i'm quite shy ::) Cheers : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna May 21, 2005, 08:30:49 PM Welcome to the forum Darren! ;D Hope you enjoy yourself here! :D

I started collecting Charmed and LOTR cards, but I'm trying to decide if I should start collecting the Harry Potter cards or Charlie & the Chocolate Factory cards for my daughter. Teapot, Willow, Rug, and Hinkypink : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sunset July 29, 2005, 05:47:15 AM This is my 2nd attempt to say hello - I think my first one got lost when the system went peculiar - and two weeks info got lost - that included me - thats the sort of thing that happens to me. I won a Harry Potter Mug and it came in a jiffy bag (broken of course) - yes I got a refund but not the mug!. :'( I live in London (well on the outskirts - Greater London).
I am a young :rofl:Harry Potter fan (49 years old) - well I think its still young (yes I have read book 6) collected all sorts of things including the Trading Cards (not got them all though) - Got some Bertie Botts every flavour beans - would you believe they actually taste like what they are meant to - we had them July 16th of course I have been speaking to Roz for ages she is great (as you all know) - I am very pleased I have introduced myself again - I expect you have all read the book - if not HAPPY READING - only approximately 2 years to go to the final part - what are we all gonna do for two years? I've been lurking around for some time and figured that I should probably introduce myself now that I've started to get a little more involved in posting and trading. I've been collecting again for about 10 years. I collected cards as a kid and still have a few of those sets. I personally collect mostly science fiction related sets but have found myself getting more diverse lately getting into things like Angel, Charmed, Lord of the Rings, etc. I'm also a dealer that does both shows and online sales, so there are times I have a bit of a different perspective on things than regular collectors. I try to pass along what information I can on upcoming sets because I feel it is very important to have all the information possible about a release before you commit any of your hard earned money. : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : HPfamily August 14, 2005, 05:55:21 AM Well, I think it's about time I take the plunge!! I've been lingering around here long enough!!!
Hello!! ;D My name is Jackie. I'm 35 and I live in Colorado. I have been married for 12 years and I have 4 sons, a dog and an iguana and we all love to ride motocross. I was told about the forum from a couple of members in May when I put most of my HP cards up on ebay :-[ (I needed money). I love HP!!! I have never collected anything before until last year when I was browsing ebay. :ebay: I saw the cards and I've been addicted ever since. Although I've HAD to sell my sets twice now, third times a charm, right??? I'm a sucker for variants!!! OHH the adrenaline rush when you purchase a cool variant!!! Although I have cards from all sets (uncompleted sets), right now my main goal is to get all of the cards from the original set. They're getting harder to find!!! :P I've also just started collection the CatCF cards, too. So this is where I get my HP fix since my husband doesn't get the whole HP craze!! ??? He doesn't get going out at midnight to get the new book. :o (GASP!!) I also share my cards with my kids. They also are HP Fans!! Actually, my 2 year old calls my 5 year old "Harry" because thats all he hears!!!! Anyway, I'm here reading almost daily so I figured it was time to introduce myself!!! :) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Morningangel-Iola August 14, 2005, 06:02:38 AM Welcome Jackie ;D you are amungst friends (and fellow Harry nuts ;) )
Dawn : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna August 14, 2005, 06:47:25 AM Welcome to the Shack Jackie. ;D (A more formal welcome ;) )
I'm glad you've been enjoying yourself here and good luck getting your HP collection re-establsihed. ;D : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna August 14, 2005, 06:51:47 AM YAY!! Welcome at last Jackie .. I believe I was one of the ppl who told you about the Forum back in May! ;)
Lovely to see you here and I wish you luck in re-collecting your HP cards for the third time!! :o I'll second what Dawn says ... you're definitely amongst friends and fellow Harry nuts! ;D  Jules ;) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : grecopa August 14, 2005, 07:36:16 AM Welcome, Jackie. Sounds like you have a full household! BTW, I used to have an iguana named Rasta. ;)
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall August 14, 2005, 08:16:28 AM Welcome Jackie to the shack and the wonderful world of the yak shack
and it is nice to see another mum here : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : HPfamily August 15, 2005, 05:32:04 AM Hey! Thanks for the welcome!! ;D Let's just say there's rarely a dull (or quiet) moment around my house!!! >:() If anyone has any spare HP cards they want to sell (with variants of course), let me know. I'm S-L-O-W-L-Y getting some back. Just purchased one from Tower from the original set. :D I'm having to pace myself, though. So many cards, not so much money!!! :P Darn kids!! Why do they have to eat so much!!!! And what's the matter with jeans that go above your ankles???!!!
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall August 15, 2005, 09:05:26 AM lol tell me about it I have 6 kids but only 5 live at home I swear you buy clothes one day and the next they don't fit
and why is it that they have to eat you out of house and home ????? but we love them anyway : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sunset August 22, 2005, 06:48:56 AM Hi ya sunset and welcome. Are you happysunset on ebay by any chance? Anyway its great here you'll like it ;) I live not far, the London side of Kent ;) Dawn Yes Its me - Happysunset - just sunset is easier to type - although I am still happy - sorry did not reply sooner - its taken ages to work out how to reply - hope this works : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Rich65 August 24, 2005, 10:09:28 AM Hey Everyone
I've been on for about little while but I know I never formally introduced myself. My Name is Rich and My Wife's name is Julie. We are both collectors and Harry Potter fans but She is a major fan. We are coming up on our 10th anniversary and on top of the usual bells and whistles She is getting a case of Serenity. She loves Firefly and got to meet the cast in San Diego So I know it will be fun to watch Her open that. As for Harry Potter She is only 2 cards from having the whole autograph set (granted 1 of them is the triple). >:() But I don't want to talk about update. I heard about the forum from a friend of mine and got on and have enjoyed myself. from what I have seen everyone is very cool. I hate forums where everyone starts picking on each other. Teasing is one thing but man it gets brutal. This forum is a breath of fresh air. Take Care Everyone Rich :) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : mcgonagall August 24, 2005, 10:50:57 AM Hi Rich and Julie
welcome to the forum : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna August 24, 2005, 11:08:52 AM Welcome to the Shack Rich and Julie ;D Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. :D
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : ferdinand_the_yak August 24, 2005, 11:50:34 AM Nice to meet (figuratively speaking ;) ) both of you Rich and Julie! Hope you have a great time on the Shack with the rest of us :)
And its always fantastic to welcome another Harry Potter nut to the fold! ;D : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Rich65 August 24, 2005, 12:01:33 PM That would surely be Julie ;D
Thanks for the Welcome : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Sharon August 25, 2005, 12:58:48 AM Welcome to the Shack ;D Graham (Bogleg - silly user name >:() ) is getting a case of Serenity, his first ever case. You will be able to compare what you get; if it is half as good as it looks so far it will be an amazing set :)
He met Jayne (Baldwin, can't remember his first name) at a show over here not long ago and said what a lovely person he was ;D ps I am allowed to pick on Bogleg as he is my big brother ;) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz August 25, 2005, 01:57:22 AM Welcome to the Shack ;D Graham (Bogleg - silly user name >:() ) Not that it's getting to you at all ;) :P : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Sharon August 25, 2005, 02:00:13 AM If I was to ever tell you the real story behind the name Bogleg............well lets just say you would look at him in a completely different light ^-^
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Roz August 25, 2005, 02:01:19 AM So far with the name "bogleg" I just happen to be quietly ignoring it ;) and trying not to think about it ;D
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Rich65 August 25, 2005, 09:09:13 AM We'll will be sure to let you how She does Sharon. Julie met almost the entire cast of Serenity at The San Diego Comic Con with the exception of Alan Tyduk(Wash). She got a mini poster signed by everyone including Joss Whedon and She said they were all great. She was so happy because only 50 people got to go to the signing ;D. As soon as She gets Her case We'll give you a heads up.
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : rosewhite September 27, 2005, 08:43:32 AM :) Hello to all!! ;D I usually go straight to the HBP forum and so I missed this chance to introduce myself! Lets see.... My real name is Reita (pronounced Rita) I also go by naybom, on some forums but I can't remember which ones right now ((pain meds) ::) still have the tooth ache) :( I am a huge, HP fan although I love LOTR also, (I am afraid to start looking at all the prop, auto's etc. on LOTR,) I am going to stick to Harry Potter for now! (although I do have the complete base and update sets from all three LOTR movies, just not the other stuff, yet) I live in Southern Illinois in the USA, I have three children, two boys and one girl. My oldest son is in the army, currently in Afghanistan. He gets to come home on leave in January ;D ! My other two don't understand my obsession with the HP cards and think I am crazy!! So I guess here's to being CRAZY ;D I am obsessive compulsive I suppose you could say, I see all the cards out there and I try to get them all at once!! I have got to try to pace myself!! Tom Breyer, told me about this site, and I absolutely love it... It is good to know that there are other ADULTS out there that love these cards as much as I do! Thanks allot Roz and Mark, for giving us a place to chat and find out whats coming up etc. I really enjoy my time on here and look forward to seeing the new posts.

I will try to figure out how to post my new cards, But I think I am buying from nearly everyone on the Yak Shack! So most of you will recognize a few of the cards I have  Rest assured they ALL have a nice new home and will be WELL taken care of!! PS Thanks alot for putting these items up for bid! Bidding is addictive and I HATE >:() to be out bid!! I tried to stay off of ebay, or at least.. just browse....didn't work! The other day my best friend and I discovered we were bidding against each other! But neither of us wanted to be the one to step down! HE finally won, but it cost him! (actually I quit bidding before it got outta hand, He doesn't believe me and thinks I ran up the bid just to annoy him! So beware....Ebay can be a BAAAAAAAD Thing! I t think I am going to try selling.... I hope that is as addicting as bidding!! Well gotta go for now. Again thank you for the warm welcome! rosewhite
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : sixpence33 September 29, 2005, 09:13:58 PM :) Yes it can get very addicting especially when a new product comes out :P

: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : MadAboutTCs November 07, 2005, 07:32:02 PM Hi. I am a long - time - lurker, new time poster. I started looking at the forum when I found Batman Begins cards on ebay and saw a link. I am most looking forward to lost cards at the moment. I like the look of Harry Potter but the sets seem huge and quite a lot of the cards seem the same but that is just my opinion. Maybe if I had seen them earlier I would know them better, I must have joined in too late.
Anyone else collecting LOST? : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : grecopa November 07, 2005, 08:12:03 PM I'm going to collect LOST and a few other people on the Shack are too. I'm really hoping to complete a master set (it would be my first master). But if I don't get one of the auto/pieceworks in the case I ordered I might need to reconsider. I think those 3 cards in particular will be really high priced.
I know what you mean about Harry Potter cards. There are so many that I end up just getting the ones I like the best. I'm trying to get one costume from every character and only some of the props. I say SOME props, but it usually ends up as MOST props ::). BUT-there are a select few on the Shack that are HP master set gurus and have EVERYTHING! Good luck with your LOST collection. Keep on posting! : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : rns91294 November 07, 2005, 09:11:38 PM Welcome to the forum! I too will be collecting Lost, but will only be getting one box, and then buying on eBay. I am too in to Harry Potter to go nuts with Lost, especially with the sets coming out similar times!! But yes, the HP sets are huge. I will never have a master set.
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : HPfamily November 08, 2005, 12:51:21 AM I must have joined in too late. OOOOOO!!!! It's never too late for HP!!! You'll probably get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the cards!!! ;) Anyway!! WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!!!! ;D So glad to see a new member post!!!! : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna November 08, 2005, 01:01:43 AM Welcome to the Shack MadAboutTCs! ;D I won't be collecting LOST, but I can tell you all about Harry Potter cards. ;) Good luck with your collection(s)! :D
: Re: Hi! I'm a new Yaker : Bitsy April 18, 2006, 09:06:10 AM Hi everyone! I've been visiting this marvelous site for so long, yet I've only just registered! Unfortunately, I have wretched luck when it comes to pulling great cards. :-\ I did pull a Mad Eye and Cedric auto at Christmas...but this weekend was my birthday and so far (I have one POAU and SS box left) the best cards I pulled were a Krum final task costume card and Aunt Marge card. 'Course my Mom swears she's cursed b/c she pulled two Grim creature cards (it didn't help that those were the only insert cards in the box).
Anyway, I am so glad to be here! :D : Re: My new Card : rns91294 April 18, 2006, 09:38:15 AM Welcome Bitsy!!! Glad you have joined us ;D Well, the Cedric auto is still one I want very much and I consider you very lucky to have that card.
My husband and I pulled two Fluffy's as well with our first couple boxes we opened from that set, but I still like the card ;) Let us know how your last two boxes go :) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Anna April 18, 2006, 09:49:59 AM Welcome to the Shack Bitsy! ;D Aunt Marge's Jacket was the first costume card I pulled from the PoAU set. :D Good luck with your pulls on your next two boxes. :o=
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : grecopa April 18, 2006, 09:53:28 AM Hello, Bitsy! Welcome to the Shack. ;D
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Bitsy April 18, 2006, 10:53:19 AM When I pulled Cedric, I was shocked and thrilled. I'm thinking the Good Luck Fates were on Holiday when I pulled it. ::) I've opened part of the POAU box and found a Daniel Radcliffe costume card (sweater swatch). I know it is a rather large count, but I love it just the same. I love the Aunt Marge costume card. Thank you for the warm welcome and I'll be sure to let you know what else I pull...I like to stretch out my boxes as long as I can. ;)
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Morningangel-Iola April 19, 2006, 01:42:26 AM Hello and welcome Bitsy ;D
: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Nienna April 19, 2006, 02:03:47 AM Welcome to the Yak Shack Bitsy and congrats on the cards you've pulled so far!! ;) ;D
Oh and 'Happy Birthday' wishes for last weekend too!! ;D ;D ;D : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Bitsy April 19, 2006, 09:01:50 AM Thank you! :)
My last pulls: Hogwarts Male costume card from the SS set and a filmcard! Now onto GOFU! :) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Galea April 23, 2006, 02:26:03 AM 2-month lurker here, hoi~ Thanks to Tomunique who pointed me to the guide in the first place :).
I've been an ebayer since 1996 (shame on me, only 13 and already bidding on stuff with one noisy 14k modem) and I'm getting worse now with all the HP bits to bid on. I'm currently collecting Harry and/or Draco related cards and some props. Thanks to some really nice yakers (http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3974.0) my tiny collection has grown a bit in the past week ^_^ and hopefully it will keep growing!. I'm really looking forward to the COS set (I also know that one will be the death of me after all the sets Artbox plans to release before that one) and am :o= for a Tom Felton auto on any of the upcoming sets. And after that I'll only have to figure out how to live off my trading cards cause I won't have a cent left :-[. : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : Bitsy April 23, 2006, 05:37:15 AM Galea, I complete sympathize! What started as a little fascination with these sets grew into a little habit, which evolved into an all out hobby.
Like you, I am hoping for a Tom Felton auto. Been a bit surprised not to see one by now, actually. ::) My collection is pretty small...but it's not for a lack of trying. :) : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : jess April 26, 2006, 06:45:38 AM Hello.

: Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : padge77 May 17, 2006, 04:56:57 PM Hi, :D >:() |:#
My name is Paul,im 29 and live in london. I have only been collecting trading cards seriously for about 6 months.I have all of the Batman Begins cards which i think are excellent,i am missing 4 autocards which are Micheal Caine,Gary Oldman,Liam Neeson,Katey Holmes so if anyone has these for sale then please get intouch please. My current project with my partner is the new Superman Returns cards which i have ordered 1 sealed box and am buying a case in June these look a really good set and the pull's on the chase, costume and some of the autocards dont seem to bad i think in a case you get around 14 costume and 3-4 autocards, if im wrong please let me know.I reckon the hardest to find will be Kevin Spacey and the actor who plays superman. I also have Harry potter Prizoner of Azkabhan Trading card set that fits into the mini binder and the american version of the philosiphers stone and the cards are much larger,i dont believe there were chase cards as such just foils of scenes from the base set. I have loads of doubles if anyone wants to trade. I also am looking forward to find people to keep in touch with who are well established in this hobby as i could do with some helpful advice, and on current street values as i dont want to be ripped off. Hear from you all soon My is jake_centurion_rockwell77@yahoo.co.uk : Re: Newbies: Introduce yourself here! : grecopa May 17, 2006, 06:52:19 PM Hi and welcome, Paul!
