I feel that the Harry Potter EMMA WATSON Prisoner of Azkaban (POA) original set autograph should be more valuable and wanted than the Update version autograph. This is the actresses FIRST true autograph card and should always carry a premium over the 2nd autographed card - update version. Even if the update version is a BIT rarer, this card is her first ever and should be viewed that way. I collect sports cards as well as Harry Potter cards and find it a rare occurence when a "rookie" autograph does not get more attention then a 2nd year autograph...So, I believe that the Emma Watson ORIGINAL POA set autograph should have a higher premium and cost more than the update version! Even if it is not as rare, there are only like 25ish less update versions than the original, so go with the original. As a collector, I would always go for the original  before the update and I feel you should too. I would like to hear other peoples opinions on this topic as well. As for me I would prefer the update just because I like the picture a lot more, so I don't know how many people think about that when they purchase.  I think that goes for any set for me, I only collected the LOTR autographs with the pics that I liked the best.  Thats just me though.

It does seem obvious. I know that rookie sport cards are most wanted. Especially if they BECOME stars.
Since Emma IS a star her card fits this situation now. What if in the future she wins an Oscar or some other super film award? I  know that I am keeping my two, just in case. I can see it now

Likorsih - Spdier...do you have the update and the original set one? Which one do you like better? Do you feel that the original one should be more valuable and do you believe its her true "rookie autograph"...I'd like to hear which one you prefer. I emailed artbox and they did say that the update was less produced but only by a very small margin...most likely 25ish tops!...

I like the second one from the Update better, the picture is definately nicer. And as fas as i saw, the prices have been almost equal for both cards yet (since the Update appeared). I would say the first is as good as the second and every decision you make will be right, it's not important.

Of late Thomas the gap between PoA (lower) and PoAU (higher) has widened. I think this is because a) the picture on the card of PoAU is nicer and b) the PoAU Hermione auto was practically an impossible pull. PoA was hard but not impossible  ;)

I just emailed artbox again and they confirmed that it is only about 25ish difference. Also what were the print runs for both sets? I just started collecting these Harry Potter cards as you may be able to tell and am just wondering about them. I have a POA original and am in the market to buy the UPDATE (anyone have one for sale) - Also, the odds for pulling an autograph from original I heard was harder than the update...true?

I also have both of the Emma autos and I prefer the PoAU one over the PoA because I too like the picture of her better.  I feel that the PoAU auto is more rare because of the reasons Roz stated, they were a lot harder to pull because of the huge print run of PoAU compared to the small run PoA.

The truth is both cards are nice. In one card she shows her "sweet" side and in the other she indicates that she has the possibility of being "sultry".
Two equally charming female characteristics. But, as I often have opined (That is shot my mouth off.), rarity and value often go hand in hand but the true value is the demand factor. I personally like the "Sweet" pix better than the other one. If you've got both in hand you know the one I mean.

That's the point... although there are as many Emma cards there was much more PoAU product for them to be hidden in.

As Anna explained PoA had a print run of 500 cases, and PoAU is estimated as 2500 cases. Don't listen to whatever anyone else tells you about this - this has been discussed ad infinitum on here and there's no way it's 1200 as it's claimed... look at the numbered props etc and do the maths (and then take out 1/3 because it's thought that 1/3 of each card are kept behind for Warner Bros, actors, agents etc).

It seems like alot of those cards autographed aren't very nicely placed...auto is covered by picture or squished at the end cuz it was goin to run off the card....hard to fine one perfect!

I think you need to remember that these are kids signing these cards.  If you look at my driving licence which I signed when I was 17 my signature is appalling.

very true very true - my first license signature is also terrible haha - still for collecting purposes, the better/cleaner the auto is on the card, the more valuable that card is...plus I find them more appealing that way! Either way, I LOVE HP cards!

I think you'll find that Hermione card was quite expensive which you kindly posted the link to dnb. ;)

I'll probably get shot down in flames for saying this, but Emma's sig seems to be the most consistent and aesthetically pleasing out of the 'big three' .... well that's what I think anyway ... ;)

Yep I agree, her auto is very pretty.  My favourite of all the kids autos though is Harry Melling (Dudley).  Now that is beautiful writing  :)

I was surprised that one sold for such an expensive price on eBay - but I guess it is very very rare! Like I said tho, the one purchased seemed to be a very nice autograph while the one that can still be bid on is squished at the end and seemed to be missing the "N" on Watson. I have the POA one and I feel very lucky to have it with an almost PERFECT signature not covered by anything and not squished. I pulled it from a pack when it first came out :) - Now I'm just in the hunt for the Emma Watson POA Update and Update Triple Auto - willing to trade/buy either :)...What is your best HP card?

Wow you pulled the Emma?  Ooo another lucky mascot for the Shack  ;D  I think the Emma stuff goes for more than it should just because it is Emma and she is very popular.  My best HP card is my GOF poster which I was also lucky enough to have pulled.  Oh and my Lesley Phillips auto, just because I am a huge Carry On fan  ;D.

haha Ya it was a very lucky pull - Bought just a few packs of it too!...guy at the store was VERY upset that a customer pulled it and not himself!! I think Emma does sell too high too...that card that just ended was VERY VERY high - $423 is VERY high! But if you like Emma, than it is worth it, especially her "rookie" auto! Personally I think that some of the others like the dumbledore auto should go higher than it does! - I think he is a wonderful actor!...Those are very nice cards you have...you must be quite the collector!...Do you know who is signing for goblet of fire update set?

I probably should but I don't  :-[  There is a whole topic with all the gossip on here and I am sure there is a list of the ones that have been announced so far.  They obviously haven't got me excited though or I would have remembered  :rofl:  I am pretty sure Daniel is signing again and I hope Warwick Davis  :rofl:  This is a bit of a running joke on the Shack as people think he has signed too many cards but I simply love collecting them so the more the merrier  ;D

I do think though that there is a massive difference between sports and non sports cards.  The 'rooky' factor just doesn't come into it.  Collectors go for characters and/or specific actors but not necessarily which ones were signed first, probably because by the time someone is in a film they are already famous (I assume with rooky cards the sportsperson could go either way - be really good or bum out).

Ya davis has signed a ton! I like your point about rookies - cuz I collect sports cards too and the rookies can either become good or bum out like you said...Also, I hear that Emma won't sign again for another card series...that is a disappointment - Now I think that all the watson cards will skyrocket in value!!...as I think you can tell, i am a big emma fan...

Quite a few of us are based in the UK Bernie (I am) but we have members from the US, Australia and Europe (Holland and Germany) too, so there's usually someone logged in no matter what time you drop by! ;)
Yep, there's at least one other sports card collector on here - beckham1 (Dave) collects baseball and golf cards (I think) ... Dave, you'll have to shout out if I've got that completely wrong ... apologies if I have!! ::) :P
I'm not too sure who else would count themselves in with Dave on collecting sports cards, the majority on here collect Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter and a few other sets along the way too! ;)
It doesn't matter really, as we all appreciate a good card when we see it even if we aren't that interested in the subject matter!  ;D

Ya I was SO excited about the Emma Watson pull! - Pull of a lifetime for my non sports card collection. What do you think about the watson card that just was bought on ebay for $420ish!?...thats crazy, but the card is AMAZING, so worth it if ur a true fan!!...pardon me, but i forget if you said you have any autos from HP?...i love them!..

Yep I have a number of HP autos from the various sets and I agree, they're super cards! ;D
You were SO fortuante to pull that particular card you know ... so many people tried to get it in the boxes and cases they bought and didn't get one. :-\
That's was a nice card that sold just recently, but I think you'll find that because of their relative rarity, most people would be happy to get any auto card of hers and not necessarly the one with the nicest example of her signature on it.
In an ideal world all the autos would much the same high standard of signing (ie. centering on the card and even formation of the signature etc) but we both know that doesn't happen often so a compromise has to be reached to a certain extent.
I'm happy with both my Hermione autos and grateful I've been able to get both of them! ;) ;D

Dave is over in the US like you Bernie and loves his sportcards as much if not more than his non-sports card collection! ;) ;D

WoW you have both the emma watson POA and POA UPDATE auto?! That is so lucky! You pull them or buy them? If you bought them, do you mind me asking what you payed for them? Do you have any extras or the triple auto?  :P, very much interested in obtaining the Update auto of watson and the triple!...Also I was very lucky considerin a box of the original POA set is SO expensive...

My collection of sports cards consist of some baseball cards about 15% I have some really nice high end cards including a Babe Ruth jersey which I love.  About 5% basketball cards nothing to exciting in my collection just what I have pulled out of the occasional box.  About 25% of my collection is Golf, I have a few Tiger Auto's and Shirt cards as well as some other pretty nice ones, of course the Tigers are worth the most.  The rest of my sports card collection consists of Hockey cards which are my favorite to collect, most are pack pulled.  The only cards I have bought are Red Wings as that is my team and being originally from Michigan is my home team.  Steve Yzerman being my favorite athlete of all time.

In the last year + my focus has been nonsport cards though as what I like about nonsport vs sports cards are that if you buy a box of Harry Potter you are going to get well Harry Potter cards.  On the flip side if you collect Red Wings cards (like me) your odds of getting a nice Red Wing card (other than base cards) is probably 1 in 10 boxes.  That is what has attracted me to nonsports cards I can get LOTR cards by buying a LOTR box not a bad thing IMO.

Ya true dave - im a boston red sox fan myself and like you said hard to get a nice pull of a red sox player unless you buy alot! what HP autos do you have? Open for trades?

My favorite Emma auto would have to be the original POA one! For some reason, I like that picture!!  :-\ And it may be because I pulled 2 Emma autos out of my first four boxes I ever bought!!  ;D (But sold them  :'( )
But I was lucky enough a few months ago to get another off of  :ebay: for under $250!!!  ;D

It is a good feeling actually the Emma was the only big auto of the 4 My wife Julie and I pulled out of POAU. We did pull 4 from POA though and I'm hoping We get the new one also. We had good luck with Gary Oldman also We have both of His and We like the first one much better but I'm not complaining about the second one ;D. Hopefully all Yak Shackers will pull one from their boxes(I know it can't happen but it would still be cool) ;D

I'm hoping Julie pulls a Radcliffe :o=. She has the first one but She really likes the pic artbox used for the GOFU autograph card. I would love to see a Quad but I think We would really have to be lucky for that one.

just out of curiosity - how many of the POA UPDATE triple autographs are out there?? I personally think thats the best card that will come out of any harry potter series cuz its the first signed and its by ALL 3 of them!!...what a card!!

I personally think the Quad Card is the next big signed-by-more-then-one-star auto card.

I think only about 50 or around that area but I can be sure :P
