I recently started buying cases of cards instead of just 3 or 4 boxes.  The up side is the excitement of opening the packs and maybe, just maybe, pulling that really amazing card.  The down side is the base sets. 

I am pretty good and sort them all into nice piles - actually it is like a conveyor belt with me and mum working in shifts*.  Up until now I have been putting them in the plastic boxes with the snap lid but this is now proving quite expensive.  The plan is to eventually find a car boot sale teeming with card collectors and sell the lot  :o=

So what do other people put their spare base sets in?  I have seen little cardboard boxes with the front cut out in card shops but can't find out where to buy them.  Or alternatively do they do an extra big, box shaped team bag?

Any thoughts much appreciated  ;D

I use the 100ct boxes, but before that I used comic bags and wrapped them tightly up.. this took ages before I was any good at it and even once I was ok-ish at it I don't feel it's all that satisfactory - sorry :( I know it's costly to buy the boxes (not to mention where on earth you are supposed to store the HUUUUGE box that they come in (as you probably know they come in cases of 100) :rofl:, but never mind :P

Yes it is the big boxes we are having the trouble with.  We are only on our 3rd one and it is a pain, I can't imagine where you store your few Roz  ::) :rofl:

I store my base sets in the 2-piece plastic slider boxes, cardboard 100-count boxes, 800-count cardbord boxes and also some are still stored in the sorting trays. :P

Thanks Anna  ;D  The second one down is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for.  I love the idea of the bottom one, a sorting tray  :D.  Me being me, I am using boxes I got from work that our printer ribbons come in  :rofl:

To make a simple sorting tray, you can use (5) 2-piece slider boxes and line the two short ends of the pieces up side by side in a cardboard tray and make 5 rows.  I used a box that held (4) 6-packs of soda for the tray, this was before I discovered the pre-made sorting trays. ;)

Sharon if you buy some sorting trays count me in and we can share shipping/import costs :)

I use ones bigger than the 800 count.  It must be a 1600 count because it looks like 2 of the 800 ct side by side.  I can get in all of my sets from each of my cases in just one of those and they stack well.

Well I pretty much only own LOST cards, I have like 20 Base sets left now, I have sorted all of them into sets, and have put 2 sets in each LOST display box, done this for 6 boxes, so about 12 sets in total, the Rest I have Sorted in order and put them in Ultra Pro Pocket Pages and stored in a 3-ring binder, but thats cause I hope to sell those, and postage is actually cheaper having the cards laid flat instead of in a deck like shape.

BUT, when I finish my master set. and decide if i will sell it or not. I am going to frame it, the whole thing, all the cards, the binder etc..... and put it on the wall, I have roughly measured the frame to be 1 metre wide, by probably 500-800 mm high.

Absolutely  ;D  I am going to get a dummy order together just to see how much the shipping would be then we can get a better idea  ;D

If Sharon's gone ahead with the order she didn't include me (bah!), but I daresay that if she goes ahead with it in the near future it will be a case of "the more the merrier" :D

When you go to shows like I have and have bought base sets they always come wrapped in plastic all neatly sealed,folded at the back like you would wrapping a present,anyone know where to buy this from and how easy it is to do as i want to sell my extra base sets of "Superman returns" as of when my case comes to me and I've sorted through them.

Your best bet to do that is to get comic bags and cut them up, and then wrap them like gifts. I always reckon you can tell how long a dealer's been in business by how tightly wrapped their base sets are... for instance D&M Cards always look bullet proof tight :rofl:

You can buy comic bags at forbidden planet, and if you aren't going to shows at the moment, that might be your best plan, unless Chris has some spare

Chris is "Gimli" (Chidgeys Collectables on ebay), he might be able to help you out (I got mine from him) but I wouldn't be sure.

Don't be down hearted if your first attempt isn't very good, you will get better ;)
