: Courier Con Trick

British Telecom are putting out warnings about yet another way to con the UK public out of money  >:()  Apparently a card from a fictitious courier firm is being put through peoples doors saying they tried to deliver a parcel but you were out.  It then asks you to ring the number on the card to arrange a new delivery time.  However no parcel exists and just by dialing this number you will charged anything up to £15.00.  This is a difficult one to spot as we all receive so many parcels - the firms name changes and so does the number to call so you can't look out for it this way.

What amazes me is that if BT know it is a rip off why don't they just disconnect the numbers  ???  There must be some common denominator that they can identify and bar these people from the premium numbers.

The common denominator is that BT gets 50%.
