: Paypal anyone had to do this : lurtz March 26, 2006, 01:47:23 AM We are sending you this notice because you have received more than 4,500.00
GBP in total payments to your PayPal account. PayPal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations to collect information from customers when they receive more than the set limit in total payments. Please log into your account, go to the Account Overview page, and follow the instructions there about how to provide the required information. These steps need to be completed as soon as possible to comply with this regulation. : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : Martyn March 26, 2006, 02:28:26 AM Yes, I had to do that! It only took about 10-15 minutes!

To pay Paypal fees/ebay fees or something else? "European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations" sounds sort of Frenchy to me, oops fishey. : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : m.o.b. March 26, 2006, 05:32:33 AM Setting up a direct debit to do what exactly? To pay Paypal fees/ebay fees or something else? I don't know, thats all that came up when I searched their answer centre : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : Nienna March 26, 2006, 05:34:27 AM Well, since the UK is part of the European Union we get to 'share' these wonderful bits of legislation which our partner countries choose to foist upon us! ::) :-\
The privacy laws are draconian over in France and Germany so you could well be right that this bit of nonsense might have originated from either of these two countries - I wouldn't surprise me ... :P Hmmmm well I guess I'll have to wait till I receive such a hefty sum in my Paypal account to find this one out!! :P As if ... ::) : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : m.o.b. March 26, 2006, 05:39:12 AM Just found this on Paypal site
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext&eloc=661&loc=651&unique_id=78544&source_page=_home&flow= : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : Martyn March 26, 2006, 05:55:27 AM It's completly safe, You here about people getting there account blocked because there getting thousands of £'s in at a time. Paypal block the account most the time even when it is legit just to comply with the law.
So when your account reaches £4,500.00 you have to validate it, so Paypal don't break any laws and to confirm how you are basically. : Re: Paypal anyone had to do this : Nienna March 26, 2006, 06:19:47 AM ahhhhhhh right you are! Thanks for clarifying this for me and that's a useful link you've post too. ;)
